Headin' on Out!
Posted 12 years agoYup, packing my bags and heading on up to the land of higher education this week. This means a few things. One: I'll not be posting any doodles for a few days, probably not until Saturday (So much for my doodle-a-day). Between packing, traveling, checking various things, unpacking, orientation, yadda yadda yadda, I just probably won't have much time for sitting around on the 'puter and or doodlin' stuffs for an hour or three. Plus...I won't have a scanner and may or may not have access to a camera; which makes uploading things drawn on paper just that little bit harder! BUT, I do not intend to abandon my artistic endeavors, so keep your pants on and put those molotovs away.
But I digress, the next few days will be busy, as will the next few weeks, months, etc. Hopefully, it'll all be part of a great adventure, or at least worthwhile knowledge...or some shit like that...
ONWARD TO...SOMEPLACE ELSE! ON THURSDAY!

Doodle-a-Day
Posted 12 years agoPicked up some tiny card-sized pieces of textured paper the other day and started using 'em for little doodles. Figured I might as well start trying to a doodle-a-day thing sooo...yeah, starting tomorrow probably I'll be posting those up day-by-day until I run out of paper. So yeah, expect actual frequent updates from me soon!
Because a Few Folks Have Been Asking About This...
Posted 12 years agoYES, you most certainly can use my fractals as your desktop background! I'd love it if you gave me a heads up in a note, maybe a thank you, but you don't need to ask!
YES, I can re-render something (as long as I can find the parameters!) to your sceen's particular resolution! All you have to do is ask, and even if I don't like you or find you creepy, I'll be more than happy to do so!

Posted 12 years agoI just made some applesauce. Shit's delicious. AND YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY. HA. HA HA HA. HA HA. HA. I
I'M SO BORED ;_;
I'M SO BORED ;_;
Actually done for realsies now.
Posted 12 years agoExactly what it says on the tin. Time to never look back (EVER), start working at my bike shop, and attempt to flush all non-educational memories of highschool out of my brain! Yeehaw!
Ahh...
Posted 12 years agoSchool year's comin' to a close, finally. Just got final exams next week, then I'm done! Graduation the following weekend (Which will be stupid hot and pretty terrible), and then...I dunno...Hopefully I'll be having a job over the summer, but only time will tell. Kinda weird though, all my normal schooling is about to be done. Highschool's coming to a close and then I'm headed off to college a few months later. Geeze, when the hell did that happen? Life's pretty crazy; I can still remember running around at daycare playing "Duck, Duck, Goose" and now here I am all nearly an adult and starting to prepare to be nearly on my own. Life's crazy. Feel like I'm waxing philosophical somewhat; that odd, semi-tired state of deep thought right before heading off to sleep. For years I've tried to think about how I'll be, well, me, and live my life outside of this little world I know at home. I never really imagined that I could, I just couldn't comprehend it, and now that I'm sortakinda on the verge of autonomy I...dunno what to think really! Am I gonna miss highschool? NO. Well...at least not now. Maybe when (or if) I'm old and gray I'll look back and miss the "good old days" of homework and whatnot. Damn...I'm going to (maybe) be a middle-aged guy some day. Heh...
I should stop rambling and go to sleep!

Hats [Conclusion]
Posted 12 years agoDecided on and bought myself a hat! Picked out what's called an "outback" hat. AKA Australian Cowboy Hat or the Indiana Jones hat.
http://db.tt/271ENCo0
Because practicality AND style. I do trail maintainence a few times a year, so a good full-brim hat like this'll be very beneficial. Plus good for fishing. And hiking. And walking around.

Posted 12 years agoNo, this is not about Team Fortress 2!
Been thinking recently about starting to wear hats. Not like baseball caps; like...hat hats. Dunno why, just felt like becoming all stylish and whatnot. Any suggestions on hat styles?

Well That's It!
Posted 12 years agoAll my college acceptance/rejection letters are in. Out of the 7 places I applied, 2 rejected me. One of those two was my top choice which is a total bummer. Ah well, I got a good number other places to choose from, and I'll probably enjoy wherever it is I end up. Still...really puts a damper on the rest of the day...might go get a pint of ice cream, curl up in a blanket, and watch "The Rambler"...or something :I
Quick Update!
Posted 12 years agoHowdy howdy everyone! Just putting up a quick little journal to let ya'll know what's going on and also breaking the silence a tad bit! I'm currently up to my neck in essays, in the midst of narrowing down where I'll be going to college next year, and smack-dab in the middle of the mountain bike race season! So...as you can imagine, I'm fairly busy! Woooo! Still, keeping myself as cheery as I can and trying not to worry too much about looming deadlines or workloads! I'm working on art all the time, albeit at a slow pace. Fractals have kinda taken a backseat to research paper writing at the moment, but if I have time on the coming weekends or during my upcoming spring break I'll try to have a few fractal streams, so keep an eye out for journals here announcing those! Seriously...I get lonely during those sometimes! *deep tears of sadness*
Back Home Again
Posted 12 years agoPhew! I...really needed that bit of time off! Relax, reset my emotional state, spend time with my family a little bit, bike, break a bike wheel, ski a bit, walk around in the snow, eat lots of beef, write, do a little art, and relax! Good to be back home though where I have internet, and it's not 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Also cool to see were two packets containing college acceptance letters waiting for me upon my return! So hell yeah! Now I just gotta finish a few more applications and wait!
Also, happy new year and all that jazz! Unless you're in a timezone where the new year's already happened!

State of Affairs
Posted 12 years agoOkay, let me start by saying that this is not JUST an empty, generic apology about not updating. The art I'm doing now takes a long time to do and I get it up when I get it up. It's not JUST laziness I swear!
But I digress, this is in fact an apology (at least partially) for not updating all that often anymore. I don't like not having a steady stream of content to put up, and I'm sure you all would love to see me posting new things more often as well! However, my current artistic interests have drifted away from fractals, which take just a few hours at most, renders not included, and are now focused on pen and paper abstract works, which have while probably don't take that many hours to complete (Mostly), I can't do them all at once. I work on them in short-ish stents over the course of the day, which adds up pretty quickly into a week or in the case of my most recent work, just shy of a month. Now, if I worked on them at home rather than almost entirely at school, I could very likely get them done sooner, but with homework, having to keep up regular exercise, preparing for finals, and just generally living, I often don't find I have the drive to do so. That reason I think is one of the main causes of me not doing as much fractal art.
I know, most of you on my watch list are watching me for my fractal works, and while I do feel like I'm letting you lot down somewhat, I do also kinda feel like the "novelty" or whatever you wish to call it of the initial discovery of fractal art has worn off for a good number of you and as such the interest in what of that genre I do submit has died off. And I understand that. It's only human after all! I'm the same way with quite a few things!
Now, I'm going to stop myself before I fall any further down the slippery slope of negativity and paranoia! I'm not abandoning my page here. Nor am I abandoning fractal art, pen and paper stuff, writing, or whatever else I find interest in creating.I love creating art, and almost nothing will make me stop. There's just plenty going on in my life that takes precedence over drawing and fractaling and posting it on the internet. Please stick with me through the likely continuing art slump guys. The fact that there are people pretty much all over the world, no matter how small in number they are comparatively, that enjoy the things I create is just about the coolest thing ever. (Second only to a REALLY nice piece of singletrack trail!)
Now, before I end this admittedly rather lengthy journal, I just have a few little announcements to make. I have semester final exams next week, so chances are, I won't even be online to check messages, and then for the two weeks (give or take several days) following that I will be on vacation with little to no access to the internet. During that time, the lack of distractions should hopefully help me to really focus and with any luck, create a good number of fractals, do some more writing on "Keeping up With the Coyotes" as well as a new thing I've started, and maybe a little bit of pen and paper stuff too!
Have a great weekend and Merry ChrismaHanuKwansaDon!

Posted 13 years agoAnd now that I hopefully have your attention...
A good friend of mine, and all-around awesome artist on dA ( http://nekomilk.deviantart.com/ ) is looking to get her name out there a little bit and she's doing low-cost ($10) commissions. She's very easy to talk to, works pretty fast, does rather amazing work, and yes, she will draw furry/anthro stuff! So at the very least go check her out and if you've got a dA account, give her a watch and some favorites!

I'm OLDER
Posted 13 years agoSo yeah...18 years old now. How about that! Time to go buy a lottery ticket, get arrested and tried as an adult, pay taxes, vote, take part in jury duty, and avoid getting shipped off to who knows where by the US military to get killed! Huzzah adulthood!
Don't worry!
Posted 13 years agoI'm still doing my normal art, not just the story thing! More abstract goodness on is on its way soon!
Commissions
Posted 13 years agoI've been doing some thinking the past few days and I'm considering, sometime in the next few months after I turn 18, of making myself a paypal account (or similar) and opening up for commissions of some kind. Now, before I would do something like that I want to know if there is a market even for the kind of stuff I create. The reason I'm asking this and looking for assurance is because last year I made an attempt to sell some prints of my fractal work...and got a ton of "oh those are cool I totally want one!" from people but only one actual buyer, with a total profit of a measly $15. So therefore, if I'm going to go through the trouble of making a paypal or paypal-esque service account, advertizing myself for commissions (fractal and or traditional), and getting all psyched up for this, I want to know there are people who are interested in purchasing what I have to offer, and not just interested in it because it looks cool.
I apologize if I sounded angry, disgruntled, cranky, grumpy, confrontational, or otherwise sour!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnd back!
Posted 13 years agoAnd after a semi-vacation-y vacation type thing I'm back home and back to the grind of working then running and junk!
I would like to make a quick apology for not updating for quite some time now. I...just haven't been feeling very motivated or inspired to be creative or to really produce art. And I've been busy with work and a few graphic-design projects people have been asking me to do. And I'm a lazy bastard! :D

Outa Town!
Posted 13 years agoHello random humans on the internet! I'm headin' out of town from the 28th of July (Saturday tomorrow) until the 5th of August. (Sunday next week) I will possibly have the wifis but I can't say for sure right now and even if I do, I'll likely only be on every once in a while so I won't be responding to stuff too quickly. Also updates will continue to not be happening... Although that's more due to not having time than being a lazy bum...like I'm being now... Shut up.
Random Crap
Posted 13 years agoWanted to replace my old journal, but I don't have anything interesting to say. So here's a Wikipedia entry on pop-up toasters. Don't ask.
In pop-up or automatic toasters, bread slices are inserted vertically into the slots (generally only large enough to admit a single slice of bread) on the top of the toaster. A lever on the side of the toaster is depressed, activating the toaster. When an internal device determines that the toasting cycle is complete, the toaster turns off and the toast pops up out of the slots. The heating elements of a pop-up toaster are usually oriented vertically, parallel to the bread slice - although there are some variations.
In earlier days, the completion of the toasting operation was determined by a mechanical clockwork timer; the user could adjust the running time of the timer to determine the degree of "doneness" of the toast, but the first cycle produced less toasted toast than subsequent cycles because the toaster was not yet warmed up. Toasters made since the 1930s frequently use a thermal sensor, such as a bimetallic strip, located close to the toast. This allows the first cycle to run longer than subsequent cycles. The thermal device is also slightly responsive to the actual temperature of the toast itself. Like the timer, it can be adjusted by the user to determine the "doneness" of the toast.
There are in fact two possible methods of adjusting the heat that is applied to toast. The first is the method most commonly observed in modern toasters, namely that of fixed distance and either variable time or a heat sensor. The second, less often seen, is to vary the distance of the heaters from the toast, with or without other features. Although a sensor will accurately measure the temperature of the toast-slice's surface with both methods, the outcomes are by no means the same. When heaters are closer to the toast, the surface is crisp and darkened quickly, leaving a softer internal texture at the time when the temperature sensor asserts its readiness. Many enjoy toast made like this. With increased heater distance, the inside of the toast is dried out more by the time that the surface is deemed ready. Perhaps owing to the increased complexity, variable heater distance is rarely found.

New Computer WOOOO!
Posted 13 years agoThe new computer has arrived! It's an alienware M14x with a core i5-3210 with 2.5 Ghz per core, 12 gigs of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 650M 1Gb video card, 452 gig 7200 rpm hard drive and a widescreen display that seems like it's not white balanced properly so everything seems somewhat washed out... I'll work on fixing that later. Until then I'll be re-downloading games and such, installing things, and enjoying a VERY fast computer!
My Computer is dying
Posted 13 years agoMy computer is, as we speak, delivering it's dying monologue. I will not be online for a few days and will only be around for the next hour at the most while I finish doing some last chance backups. And then a few days later I will be on newer, much better computer. Specs will be shared upon arrival of said computer.

Some Musings on Religion and Whatnot
Posted 13 years agoNot entirely sure what brought this on really. Was bored and up late and the internet wasn't working and I just like... started thinking I s'pose! Anyway, take a read.
I am not religious. I never really have been and there is a distinct possibility that I never will be. However, that is not to say that I see no value, beauty, wisdom, or point to some religious teachings. That would be close-minded and foolish. I do not subscribe to the notion that "All people would be better off without religion, gods, or what have you." Nor do I subscribe to its corollary that all people need religion, god, and whatnot. Could the world possibly be in a better place if all people, or no people, were religious? It's possible, but we cannot not know for sure, nor should we ever. And ya know what? I think the fact that people have so many points of view, philosophies, and credos is one of the things that makes humanity beautiful. Our ability to form our own ideas of how we should live our lives based off what we see around us, hear from others, read in texts, and or simply decide upon one day is, for lack of a better word, awesome.
I personally am not a fan of religion. It can and does create hostility between people, lead to discrimination, close-mindedness, has started many a war, and I find the whole concept of a higher being(s) controlling the universe rather silly. BUT, and this is a very big but, despite the bad religion has brought into the world, it has also brought much good. Religion can bring people together, give comfort, and if you distill most religions down to their barest elements, they're just trying to make one a better person. How they go around doing that and what "Being a better person" entails is where issues arise, but I am not going to go into specifics there. The real problem I see is humanity's inability to simply live and let live. People are going to disagree on things. That's inevitable. But to force what you believe on others, especially if what you are trying to force hurts someone, or is easily misconstrued so allow people to be hurt is quite simply wrong. You are not "saving" that person, you are not "educating" that person, you are not helping, liberating, renewing, (and so on and so forth) that person. If to prove your are "moral" you have to marginalize or discriminate against a group of people then maybe, just maybe, you aren't quite so moral. Atheists, don't think you're getting off the hook here. You are just as guilty, and just as capable of being bigoted and close-minded as those of "faith". They way I see it there can be no right or wrong answer in terms of spiritual beliefs or lack thereof. Religious people, if you think there's a god or twelve, then you're totally correct. Non-religious people, if you think deities don't exist, then you are absolutely, 100% right too!
And remember: don't doubt your sunshininess!
