And Back Again
General | Posted 14 years agoSo yeah... Back again from another camping trip!
Did some hiking, some swimming, some cliff diving, some mountain biking, set up a zip-line, learned how to use throwing knives, and got bit in the face by a carpenter ant.
I'll be here next week, and leave for Mammoth Lakes with my Cross-country team on Saturday for another week. However, I might have an internet connection then. Dunno for sure though. If I do, I'll probably update once or twice that week.
Expect at least 2 new submissions this week.
Have a great day everybody!

Goin' out again
General | Posted 14 years agoGoing to Mammoth and Yosemite. See ya'll in a week!
I Have Returned
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm back from my camping trip. It was enjoyable for the most part. Found a $75 pair of sunglasses at the bottom of a small pond, got caught in marble-sized hail on the way back from a hike and sprinted down a narrow mountain trail to escape hypothermia/severe bruising, did a little fishing, and chillaxed.
I'll be here all of next week. The week after there's a very good chance that I'll be going up to Yosemite and Mammoth Lakes for a while, but it's not for sure as of yet. I'll let'cha guys know when I know.
There will be at least one update this week, and hopefully a ustream broadcast or two. I'll put up a journal entry letting ya'll know when I start the stream.
As always: have a great day.

Short Hiatus
General | Posted 14 years agoGreetings my faithful minions!
I'm taking a short hiatus next week. Gonna be camping up in Nor-Cal. Try not to miss me too much. I'll have two things uploaded by the end of the weekend.

Summer
General | Posted 14 years agoSchool's out for the summer! Woo! Now I have a few weeks to relax and do pretty much nothing but play minecraft, hang out, and run. Then my summer job starts. Then I take a 10 days off to go to Mammoth California, then another few weeks of summer, then school starts. I like to have things planned out.
I'm going to try to aim for weekly updates accompanied by weekly ustream broadcasts, but I make no promises. Some weeks might not have any updates, some weeks might have several. Just depends on what I'm doing, and or what I feel like doing at the time.
Ya'll have a nice day.

The Final Countdown!
General | Posted 14 years agoSchool is almost out for the summer. Unfortunately between then and now, I have finals. As you can probably imagine, I'm quite stressed and fairly busy with studying and whatnot. Don't expect any new submissions for at least 2 weeks. That is all.
Something Amazing
General | Posted 14 years agoI believe I have seen something truly amazing and beautiful yesterday. Something so awesome and fantastic that is must be shared.
While I was running yesterday I saw a man pushing his baby in a stroller with one hand. (bear with me here) He was using one hand because his other was being used to play a one-handed guitar tapping solo. How do I know he was actually playing a guitar solo and not just moving his fingers around? Because he was wearing a small portable amplifier. He was pretty damn good too.

Hoping for Some Relaxation
General | Posted 14 years agoOkay, last week was crazy and all over the place. School started back up after spring break on Tuesday. Airborne Toxic Event concert on Wednesday, several tests on Thursday, auditions for a acoustic show at my school on Friday, water pipes burst in my house on Saturday, and my band played a benefits concert to raise money for the relief effort in Japan on Sunday.
As you can imagine, I'm pretty tired out from all that. I don't want to do a whole lot this week if I can avoid it, so depending on how much homework I have, I should be submit at least two new fractals. At least that's my hope, not making any promises here, but I'll try. One will be rendering tonight, so at the very least you'll get that one tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!

Well I'm home
General | Posted 14 years agoBronchitis is not fun. Getting bronchitis whilst in another country? Really not fun. Getting bronchitis whilst in a foreign country then being in an airplane for 14 hours? Really really REALLY not fun. And now you know how my vacation to Ireland was!
Leaving Town
General | Posted 14 years agoMy spring break starts this weekend, and I'll be leaving town Thursday afternoon. I'm going to be in Dublin, Ireland. No that is not a typo. I will be in Dublin from the 14th, to the 24th. I'm not sure if I'll have an internet connection or not. I probably will, but I don't know for sure. You get two fractals this week though. One is rendering as we speak, and I'll start the render on the second one tomorrow.
See ya'll when I get back!

General | Posted 14 years agoLast weekend I engaged a volcano, three dinosaurs, and countless angry bears which also happened to be on fire in mortal combat and won. What did YOU do last weekend?
The Results are in
General | Posted 15 years agoGot my results from my MRI in today. *drum roll* IT'S NOT A STRESS FRACTURE!!!!! YAAAAY! It's some unspecific soft-tissue injury, most likely a sprain of a joint between a metatarsal and tarsal.
Bad news is I need to get orthotics that I'll have to wear all the time. Whatever. I'll also need to buy new shoes. *groan* (I hate shoe shopping) And lastly the doctor "highly recommended" that from now on I get "motion-control" type running shoes.... fuck.
If you don't understand why I'm pissed about having to get that specific type of shoe, let me break it down for you.
I run competitively. I train in shoes that are fairly light, fairly cushion-y, have a good grippy tread, have neutral support, and are fast. These are called either "neutral control" or "performance" trainers.
They look something like this: http://theshoegame.com/wp-content/u.....nar-elite1.jpg
"Motion control" type shoes are the exact opposite of the kind of shoes I run in. Very heavy, very stiff, very chunky, not very cushion-y, and very very slow.
They look something like this: http://runningtimes.com/rt/images/2.....Addiction8.jpg
These are the type of shoes that are worn by people who are either new to running, fat, old, slow, don't know what type of shoe they need, or all of the above. I fit into none of those categories.

Updates and Free Stuff
General | Posted 15 years agoOkay everyone, here's what's going on.
First of all I would like to apologize for my lack of updates. As blasphemous as this is going to sound it is true: my life is does not revolve around FurAffinity, fractal art, and the internet. I know: it's quite shocking.
I'm going to be up-front about this. Fractal art is just a minor hobby of mine. I really do enjoy it, but it's like videogames for me. I don't play em very often and when I do, it usually isn't for a long time. Also I'm busy with school-related stuff. I am sorry that I cannot update more often, but that's just the way it is.
In happier news:
My MRI results will be in this Thursday. At this point I'm about 65% sure it's NOT a stress fracture as I was able to jog two miles at a 7:40 pace with no pain whatsoever. I'm kinda out of shape, and I was very tired afterward, but my foot isn't hurting anymore. HURRAH!
Lastly:
Because I haven't been updating very much I'm going to do free avatars again. WOOOOOOO!!!1
Here's the deal: 10 spots. First come, first served. You get a 100x100 (or smaller upon request) avatar-sized image, and a also the same image rendered at your desktop size. Also, the fractal will be posted on here and on my deviantArt.

Expletive
General | Posted 15 years agoWent to the orthopedist today. Got some x-rays on my feet. Possibility of a stress fracture. Recommend I get an MRI. Will happen somewhere between tomorrow and Wednesday. Results from the scan will be in a few days after that. Not having a good week. Unable to form compound/complex sentences. Many expletives have been uttered.
Good News Bad News Time
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's good news/bad news time everyone! Hoooooo raayyy....
Bad news first:
I messed up my left foot. The joint between the third metatarsal and tarsal is all out of alignment or something. Dunno what caused it to happen, but it did, so whatever. Long story short: I cannot run, it hurts to walk, and I have to wear a pressure wrap 24/7 so wearing socks and shoes is a pain.
I'm having trouble sleeping. Taking me forever to fall asleep for some reason, and without fail I will be awake by 6 am. Not up or doing anything, but awake. It sucks and I'm tired. I blame not being able to exercise due to my foot being hurt and whatnot.
Good news:
I got tickets to go see The Airborne Toxic Event this April. It shall be awesome.
Also in April, my family and I are going to Ireland for a few weeks. Younger sibling's dance team qualified for the world championships in said dance thingy, which is in Dublin, which is in Ireland, which is in Europe, which is in the western hemisphere, which is on the planet Earth, which is in the solar system, which is near the outside of the Milky Way galaxy, blah blah blah.
In completely unrelated news:
I am beginning to become intrigued with this whole "RP" thingy. Never participated in one before, and I kinda wanna know what all the hoopla is about. Entice me with your tales of magic, glory, twenty-sided dice, asterisks, and loss of self-control.

Not Much
General | Posted 15 years agoNot much is going on right now. Early-mid part of the semester so not much homework or anything. Track season is going on but our first track meet isn't for about a month. My band isn't planning on playing a show for a month or two. And REM's new album doesn't come out for a few weeks, so I'm not freaking out about that just yet. Hmm... OH! I went mountain biking last weekend, rode on twisty single-track trails for the first time, and got a new bike seat. Yeah that's about it.
I'm currently very bored. Leave an interesting/creative/confusing comment and make me un-bored.

Spykr's New Adventures in Fractal Land
General | Posted 15 years agoStarting today, I am using a fractal generating program called "Mandelbulb 3D". It creates 3-dimensional fractal images that, when done right, look freaking awesome. It has a higher learning curve than Apophysis, and as with all new things, it'll take some time to get to where I want to be. Rest assured, I will still be working in and with Apophysis a bit, but I am expecting this new program to be the main source of my new fractal works. Wish me luck.

Weekly Accomplishments!
General | Posted 15 years agoDuring this week I: Got all schoolwork and homework turned in on-time(for once), started serious training for track and field, ordered a new suspension fork for my bike, GOT said suspension fork, attended several ustream broadcasts, didn't sleep at least once, and wrote a song. Lyrics and all. BusybusybusybusybusybusybusybusyBUSY me. I'm gonna go do nothing for a while, then sleep. Woooo!
The State of Things
General | Posted 15 years agoOk, here's whats be going on:
I am starting a new semester in school. This means I won't be too laden with schoolwork, but I still won't have much free time during the week as Track Season has also started. I am finally going to start on my driver's license. That won't take up too much of my time, but even with the online drivers-ed courses, it will take up time. My band is trying to finish writing at least one song in time for a local talent show we played last year and plan to play again this year. That's in about a month, and since we can only meet up about once a week due to scheduling differences, it takes a bit of time to write a song. Hell, we've been together for almost 3 years and have only finished two songs, both of which were instrumental. But what does this mean in regards to fractals and stuff? Well, it means I won't be uploading a ton of stuff. Real life is more important than internet stuff. Not sugar coating this guys: I don't think I'll average 1 new fractal a week. I'll try to get older stuff from my deviantArt gallery up here whenever I know they'll be a dead-spot, but that's about all I can do at the moment. Unless of course you want me to upload random doodles from the back of notebooks on a semi-regular basis. I'll only do so if you guys want to see them. Otherwise they're staying in a green plastic folder near my desk.
Sorry.

Finals are over!
General | Posted 15 years agoFinals are over. I have until Tuesday off. Which is nice. I'm going to relax, go to REI and buy some new pants, run, do some upper-body workouts (as I've recently started an easy short upper body workout regimen that I came up with), play some video games, eat, sleep, and listen to excessive amounts of music. And maybe do some fractaling. I dunno.
Olbigatory Fursona Description Journal!
General | Posted 15 years agoWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *cough* sorry.
Soooo yeah, here it is. *Drum roll*
Name: Isaak (I'm not adding in the "k" for style points, that's how my middle name is actually spelled. If ya got a problem you can take it up with my great-great-grandparents)
Gender: Male
Species: Coyote (anthro)
Height: 6’1 (top of head) 6'4 (top of ears)
Eye color: grayish yellow
Fur color: Sort of a dirty blonde color, darker around the face area, with small bits of gray-brown in various patches around the face and arms.
“Hair”: Short, brown, slightly wavy hair. (hey, it doesn’t make sense in reality, but I think you guys can get what I’m trying to talk about.)
Clothing: Dark blue t-shirt that reads "Sandwiches?" in white letters. White name-tag pinned to left lapel. Dark green cargo pants. (Cargo pants are far superior to 90% of modern blue jeans. More pockets, dry faster, lighter weight, no need to wear a belt, can be converted to shorts should the weather get hotter, and I personally look like a tool while wearing blue jeans.)
~Other general info~
Doesn't like loud noises
Is easily distracted by shiny objects.
Owner, employee, and pilot of Mr. Awesome's Deli (the space-faring sandwich shop)
Mr. Awesome's Deli is the only interstellar sandwich shop with a warp drive AND a time machine.
Food is kept fresh in a time-dilation refrigerator, which stops time in the area of the fridge to keep food from spoiling or going bad. (yeah, I stole the whole ‘time-dilation’ thing from Stargate, so sue me)
The ship itself looks kinda like a giant gray and white soup can with rocket engines on the back. (I had to throw in something WTF somewhere, as I think it’s legally required of all in the fandom to have some aspect of their character to be extra ridiculous.)
~Background~
Isaak was fairly normal. Got a job at a call center, later quit, got a job at a deli, and then eventually bought his own space-ship, and converted it to function not only as a sandwich shop, but also as his home.
He has since gotten recognition of several small, food-related blogs for making "pretty sweet" sandwiches, having "fast service", and "a friendly atmosphere".
Isaak is pretty average. Well, as average as an anthropomorphic coyote that runs a sandwich shop in space can be.

A bit of a Change
General | Posted 15 years agoChanging my "fursona" species. The decision was originally made more or less for me to be feline, so I didn't really think about it much or actually care at all what it was. It was just sort of an arbitrary thing and I kinda rolled with it for the time. I have a description I typed up in the span of 10-15 minutes saved somewhere, and all I'll really have to do is change a few small things, as I don't really feel like creating a whole new character for myself. Especially seeing as I don't RP. It's still kinda arbitrary, but; what the hell ya know?
I'll post up the description in a little while. I'm a Coyote now. *confetti falls from the ceiling* No applause please. Now if you'll excuse me I must sweep up the confetti and get some sleep, as I have a long run in the hills tomorrow because track season has started up. Woooo!

Back
General | Posted 15 years agoBack from my vacation. Went skiing, little hiking up to a frozen waterfall (videos will appear on my youtube at a later date), tiny bit of sledding, got up over 30 mph on a bike (details upon request) did a run into a 50 mph headwind (not fun!), slept, ate, fractal'd, played some poker, had a good Christmas, and had a pretty relaxing vacation. Now for something to eat, and to catch up on all internet stuff.
