General | Posted 13 years agoI just checked my submissions and there is so much amazing art waiting for me to look through. I'm easily frustrated and the quirks in the site are too annoying for me to deal with.
Humph, I'm just not having a very good day. 3 "A's" and 1 "B+" this semester was bad enough. But I found out that my fall professor got tired of waiting for my late assignments and gave me an "F." My GPA sunk hard (as you might imagine from my typical grades).

Seriously... furries are amazing! I want to express my undying love for this fandom and all those involved.

I was never much of a fan of Fernandos. And at first I was annoyed by the mass postings on how awful it was that a single (mediocre) restaurant was closing down. I was even irked that people were donating money and putting in such an effort to drive 6 hours just to say goodbye. But it's not my opinion of the restaurant that's the topic here. I understand that a LOT of AC attendee's love his place and he valued our business. It doesn't matter who we're donating to. It's not like we're taking donation money set aside for a "more worthy cause" to give to Fernando. People who donate are giving what they worked for to support someone in need. Furries are just fucking amazing, seriously. Fans from at least 6 countries pooled together to raise 21,000 dollars to keep this man's business up and running. Although it's highly unlikely that the establishment will stay in business for more than one extra year, you all gave this man hope. Not just hope that he won't have the funds to take care of basic necessities. You helped him believe that this world is full of good, compassionate people! Thousands of strangers donated money to this man, some of whom had never been to the city.
It's amazing what good people can do when they set their minds to it. Furries who donate to so many causes help better society by spreading love and generosity across the globe! Hopefully those who saw this or ANY charitable cause are inspired to help their fellow man... or woman, child, restaurant... etcetera! Thanks to those who donated, Fernando can continue to run his business at least for a few more months. And the physical presence of all of you in Pittsburgh helped to gather the attention that betters the public view of us ANTHROCONS! I'm so proud to be a part of this community! You're FUCKING AWESOME!

Furbowl. yeah. So I drove down to DE from... wait. ok so I can explain how long my day was: I went from central Jersey to North Jersey 1.5 hours there then 1.5 hours back down. My ride beat me to my house. Crusader picked me up and we drove down to DE. His GPS sucked and told us to drive on a pedestrian bridge in order to avoid being on ANY road with a speed limit over 45 MPH. I corrected him and said we only need to be on 2 roads the entire way there so we got there early (after a 2 hour drive). That was good, but I fell asleep a little. we got to pizza and I just started my diet so I ate carrots and dry salad. but then Able convinced me to eat ALL of the desserts! (grr.) We left for the furbowl (!) but when we got there I hardly knew anyone. It felt like it was going to be an annoyingly long night. I knew a few people but I didn't want to monopolize their time. After a few hours all of a sudden I realized there were a bunch more people that I knew (and a few that knew me and I don't know how or why) I was finally having a good time and then it was time to leave. BTW Who's Whitefeets? I mean, no. yeah. I know him... but I have no method of contacting him online. Does he have an FA, Facebook...anything? Is he just a figment of my imagination?
OK so afterwards we left to go hang out with folks afterwards and I was so nervous about bringing Crusader. I don't know him well (he just lives real close and makes carpooling a good idea) but he's really shy and junk. But he ended up having a terrific time! I did too but a lot of the time I was so paranoid that it was too loud for him or too many inappropriate conversations. Then by the end of the night I got involved in those inevitable grown up things. I have the biggest HUGEST crush on someone who was there and it turned into a giant OMFG-YOURE-THE-GREATEST-THING-EVER-BUT-I-SUCK-SO-I'M-JUST-GONNA-SIT-HERE-AND-CRY Thing. So! eventually we left and I don't know how Crusader stayed awake for the 2 hour drive back and didn't stress out about getting lost (I was asleep so I forgot to remind him "stay on I95 until you get to NJ then you're at my house.")
Ok so we FINALLY got back to NJ and at 8:30 AM I stumbled in and took a shower and ate left over veggie burger and cold french fries from Saturday afternoon. I "slept" until 4PM. Woke up and ate about 400kcal worth of potato chips then watched Dr. Horrible and went back to sleep from 6PM to 12AM then listen to my self help stuff and went back to sleep at 4AM and slept some more until 12 PM.
THEEEEEEEEEE END!

As some of you may know, two furries named Vex (FA name Ponybird) and Serpy (FA name SillySerpentine) recently moved from California to Dover, Delaware. They were new members to our community, and had attended a few Furbowls. They were a married couple.

Serpy is far from home and needs to get back to California to be with her close friends and family. A California fur named Tiberious is handling donations to help with funeral expenses as well as getting her back home.

I've been in Atlantic City for the past 2 days. I basically took a profit of 400$ but gave 150 to a friend who lost his investment and gave about 60 in tips. I was concidering playing more regularly to pay for non-essentials. It's obvious now, though why I won that money. I need to help. I hope that a few of you out there feel that need every now and again too but this is a very good cause.
I know how hard it is to make sacrifices. I'm an unemployeed student, myself. But we get by. A lot of times it's the help of others, sometimes that help is more prominently presented, that makes things easier to bear. This is a time to make some one's life easier. She's heartbroken. She just lost her love...forever, and is now 3000 miles from the ones she needs most.

General | Posted 14 years agoI've gone to AC for the last 3 years and I don't want to stop now! The thing is that I'm really lacking money. I can take care of travel and registration but not hotel stay. Does anyone have space for me for one or multiple nights at $20 or less a night? floor is fine. If It comes to it I'll come for just Saturday through Monday and I can deal with caffeine and energy drinks and passing out every now and again on couches.
I had a dream last night that reminded me of how short my time is. It was the Thursday of AC and I decided I was going to go. I threw all my stuff into a dufflebag (having trouble finding my dugong shirt). Then hopped into a basically random car and went on my way. I was horribly nervous the whole time that I was going to be late and I hadn't worked out my housing or how to get home.
I had a dream last night that reminded me of how short my time is. It was the Thursday of AC and I decided I was going to go. 3. I will upload a picture tomorrow of what became of my hip after said fall.
4. I had a happy time and it was happy.
5. I got lost at least 4 times to and from this meet.
6. I'm actually considering returning in 6 days for this month's classy themed furbowl. (I just want an excuse to wear a suit- of the non fur variety)

General | Posted 14 years agoI've been pricing out materials and checking out fabric.When I went to JoAnn's I loaded up on foam and when I went to have it cut the woman working there advised me to come back when I had a coupon or when it was on sale. Isn't that so nice!!
When it comes to the fabric I'd appreciate a little help though...
For Squeaki's skin should I used a crushed velvet fabric, small cord- courdoroy, or fur and just shave it real short. I'm definately leaning towards the crushed but if anyone knows a better fabric that's a little less gay I'd much appreciate the help!!

LIFE UPDATE TIME:
Bad Thigns: I quit my job, completely screwed up my relationship with my boyfriend forever. Now I spend all of my time in my parents house being in the way. (It's where I live but I refuse to say it's my house. I just think of it as really extended couch surfing.) Whiel my parents were on a cruise I lost power for 6 days from"The October blizzard of hell" and while the basement was flooding with 8 inches of water the water heater got all broked.
Good Things: I quit my job and I'm not in the sucky relationship anymore. I continue to live rent and car insurance free. And now I have power AND hot water! I've really been trying to see things in a better light and if trying hard enough I can always find something.
It's pretty fucking awesome.

General | Posted 14 years agoI had a great time all around! It's always so nice to come back and see old friends, who I only see once a year. The masquerade was fantastic and I didn't sleep through the fursuit parade this time! I got there nice and early to film the parade but it was on my cell phone so it's not really worth watching. I spent most of my time following 
ante and his friends or 
wolfpuptk and his friends, but it was still plenty, I still managed to find a bunch of people I hadn't seen in months and met a good number of really nifty new peoples.
As for the announcements: Today Is My Birthday!!! I'm 23 years old, now, and tomorrow I leave for FL. I'm spending the month of July with my mate. Cherry and I will be driving from his place in the Florida panhandle to Dallas and elsewhere on our way to the Grand Canyon. He's never been to AZ and I hope this much time together won't make us want to kill the other (wish me luck). After we get back from that little ten-day road trip I'll be playing house wife for two weeks while he is at work. I'm considering the possibility of constructing the majority of my first fursuit in those hours... but I'm so nervous about how a Squeaki head should be made...
Now to catch up on some much needed sleep!!!!!! I very much hope that now that I'm out of the con I don't have to worry about people screaming about bees or rum at crazy hours. Yes, that would be you

I know that I came to this con in a bad mood but that shouldn't mean that it was a self fulfilling prophecy, I'm typically really stressy before a con, vacation or anything big. General | Posted 15 years agoI just finished checking all my submissions and shit here from the last 5 weeks. I went to Florida for the first time ever, 2 weeks ago. I got to see my babe and we had lots of fun (and, actually, NOT that kind of fun... stupid depo provera side effects) I got back Tuesday morning and still managed to put in 40 hours at work that week. I'm actually planning a bunch of surprises for him and it's freaking draining the life outta me. Not really, but it is stressing me a lot to think he might not respond well. (I can't say what they are though, he checks FA every now and again). I got back into exercising and planning my meals/ snacks days ahead of time to keep me healthy. I did 70 pushups this afternoon in about 15 minutes! (... on my knees).
But yeah, my point is just that I love the fandom and wish I had more time and money/ vacation time for cons, meets, art and real life stuff too.
