2 Commission Spots Now
General | Posted 9 years agoIf you'd like a commission, please comment on this journal. I'll be taking comments #1 & #6. Thanks!
Previous info:
I will have 2 commission spots available on Saturday, August 13th at around 1 p.m. Eastern. All of my commission info (procedures, prices, what content is off limits, rules for adult material, etc) can be seen here: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....comstatus.html Each person signing up may choose only ONE of the options listed in my price menu per commission spot. If you have questions, feel free to ask anytime.
Here’s a quick run-down on how to sign up:
I’ll post a new journal here at the time listed above. If you want a spot, post a comment on that journal. This time around, I’ll be taking comments #1 and #6.
Please note that you are not signing up for a waiting list; you will have 10 days (so until August 23rd) to submit BOTH your description and your payment (or half payment for large orders). So if you’re unable to start a commission at this time, please don’t claim a spot.
Since folks were confused last time, some notes on journal comments:
1) Please don’t post more than one comment on the sign-up journal. If you do, I am only counting the first comment you made.
2) If someone posts replies to other people’s comments, those are not counted either.
Thanks!

YCH Dune Commissions Available on Tuesday!
General | Posted 9 years agoI don’t normally do these sort of commissions but I’m really in the mood for some Dune fanart. So I’m offering 4 character portrait slots: your character in a stillsuit with a desert backdrop! The suits will be similar to those from the movie: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dus5jkgw9.....73309.jpg?dl=0
If you’d like one, I will be posting the rough sketch showing each pose (one file with 4 poses on it) on Tuesday, July 26th at approximately 8:00 pm Eastern. To claim a spot, post a comment on that image posting; if you have a preference as to which pose you’d like, please state this in your comment. Slots are given first come, first served. Please note that this is NOT an auction. There is a fixed price of $35 for each slot.
The sketch will remain posted for one week. If, after a week, any of the spots remain unclaimed, I will fill them in with my own characters.
What you will get
*Image will be rendered in full color, with shading.
*You will receive your character by itself as well as the compilation showing all 4 together.
*You will receive a pencil sketch before the image is completed to give you the opportunity to correct any mistakes if needed.
*You may post your completed character in your gallery; I will be posting the completed compilation in my galleries.
*Turnaround time will depend on how quickly you respond as well as my own work schedule; I am only able to work on commissions on the weekends so it may be a number of weeks before your character is completely done.
Payment
*All payments must be made via PayPal and are 100% non-refundable. After you claim a slot, I will contact you privately with payment address.
*The cost is $35 for each character.
*Payment must be received in full within 10 days of posting your comment that claims your slot. If you do not send payment within that time, you will forfeit your commission.
Character Restrictions
*Your character must be a biped; no taurs, nagas or ferals.
*Any species is welcome, including fictional species and humans.
*Character may be male or female; child characters are acceptable.
*Character may be chubby but not fat; muscular but not enormously so; no hyper-sized body parts.
*Character may have wings, extra appendages, etc…..the suit will be tailored to fit your species.
*The stillsuit will be rendered without hood or face mask but with nose plugs (unless you’d prefer to leave them off). Boots are mandatory, though, and will be tailored to fit your type of feet. Suit will be dark gray.
*You may opt to add simple accessories if you wish, like scarves, jewelry, water rings, goggles, etc.
As always, if you have questions, feel free to ask any time! I’m hopeful I can find 4 people who are into this, I think it will be fun ^_^

Back to work on Monday...
General | Posted 9 years agoSo, my hiatus from work ends Monday the 21st. For those of you currently getting commissions from me, I will do my damnedest to get as much done this week as possible. But once I'm at work again, I only get a day or two per week to work on commissions, so things will progress more slowly.
As for future commission openings, it is my hope that once I'm done with the current bunch, I'll take a break from commissions for a short bit to get some old projects done that have been hanging over my head for literally years. Once those are done, I'll open up for a couple more spots. Please don't ask when that will be, I have no way of calculating that. I will, as always, post a journal here when openings are close.
In the meantime, have a pleasant Easter! It's PEEP season, yo!!

Commission Openings Now
General | Posted 10 years agoWho wants a commission? Is it you? If it is, comment on this journal right here!
Here’s the pertinent info, copied over from the previous journal:
I will have 3 commission spots available on Saturday, March 5th at around 1 p.m. Eastern. All of my commission info (procedures, prices, what content is off limits, rules for adult material, etc) can be seen here: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....comstatus.html Each person signing up may choose only ONE of the options listed in my price menu per commission spot. And again, if you've gotten a commission from me recently (within the past several months), please wait a few turns before signing up again. If you have questions, feel free to ask anytime.
Here’s a quick run-down on how to sign up:
I’ll post a new journal on FA at the time listed above. If you want a spot, post a comment on that journal. This time around, I’ll be taking comments #1, 5 and 7.
Please note that you are not signing up for a waiting list; you will have 10 days (so until March 15th) to submit BOTH your description and your payment (or half payment for large orders).
I’m currently laid off from my job for a few weeks, so I expect this next set to be completed faster than those I’ve been working on during the weekends only. Whether or not I can be available for any more commissions before I get called back in to work will depend on what these 3 sign up for, and how soon I go back (which I have no way of knowing). I’ll do what I can.
Thanks!

Commission Spots Claimed, also, sorry....
General | Posted 10 years agoOk, so I have commentors # 3 and 9, so my commissions are filled for now.
I apologize for not posting the journal at noon like I'd planned, that's the first time I've missed such a deadline I'd set for myself. I git sick yesterday and stayed in bed this morning. I did get up in time to post the journal, but I needed to put a load of wash in first (had no clean clothes) only to find a nasty mess in the laundry room...cat pee everywhere, totes sitting in cat vomit....I live with my mom and older brother and they don't clean or take care of anything. Not really what I wanted to deal with when I was feeling like crud but I couldn't leave it. It was one of those things that led to a lot of other little chores, and then I was starving; it was after 3 pm and I hadn't eaten anything yet. By the time I finished eating and fuming over the ordeal, it occurred to me that, whoops, I had an appointment at noon. Shit.
I know a lot of people are going to be pissed at me but life goes that way sometimes. I will, as always, keep you posted when future commissions spots come around.

Commission Spots Available Now.
General | Posted 10 years agoFirstly, I'm really sorry I missed my posted time by 4 hours...it's a long story, but I got sick. Regardless:
As stated in my previous journal, I have two commission spots available now:
To claim one, please post a comment in this journal right here. I will take comments #3 and #9. You may only post one comment. Anyone posting multiple comments to increase their odds will be disqualified.
Also, if you've gotten a commission from me recently (within the past several months), please wait a few turns before signing up again.
Because it is so close to the holidays: I cannot and will not guarantee that your project will be done by Christmas. Please don't sign up for something that "has to be done in time for Christmas". Small projects probably will be, but the larger a project you give me, the harder it is to say how long it might take.
Please choose only ONE of the options in my price menu for your project: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....pricelist.html
(Option #1 also covers pricing on model or reference sheets).
Also, please recall my rules: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....comstatus.html
Thanks!

Two Commission Spots Available on Friday, Dec. 4th
General | Posted 10 years agoYes, I will have a couple commission openings this Friday. If you'd like to sign up, please look for a new journal posting from me on Friday, December 4th around 12:00 noon, Eastern. When that journal comes up, post a comment on it; ONE comment per person only. I will then take comments #3 and #9 (to increase randomness).
Please see my rules, prices and deadlines: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....comstatus.html
- Only one Option per customer (see price list above).
- If you've gotten a commission from me recently (within the past several months), please wait a few turns before signing up again.
- Because it is so close to the holidays: I cannot and will not guarantee that your project will be done by Christmas. Please don't sign up for something that "has to be done in time for Christmas". Any further questions, ask away!
On an unrelated note, The Martian was excellent. I loved the movie as much as the book. I want to build the rover out of Legos, but my Lego sets are so scattered....The dvd's supposed to be released January 12th. Old Lady Science, you know? She hits pretty hard.

General Update
General | Posted 10 years agoI don't have much to report that's relevant to this site, but I did want to replace the last journal and give a progress update regarding commissions. Firstly, thank you to everyone who took my comics and stuff, you made it really easy to do. I hope you enjoy them.
As for the 2 commission customers I'm working with now, progress is moving very slowly due to the large size of each project and the difficulties I'm having at home. We've had to take care of some large "technical" problems with the house recently, and my Mom's been ill. After many tests and back surgery, we found out she does have a serious illness, but it is treatable and her doctor feels her prospects should be good. Fingers crossed. Even though I only work 32 hours a week at my job, I've had to take some days off to be with her and to deal with the other issues since she can't right now. So commission work has been whittled down to about one day a week. I do make a little progress each week, but it will be some time yet before they're done.
Also, I've had no luck finding a better job so it seems likely I'll be open for another couple commission orders before the end of the year. I get people periodically asking me if I have any openings at the moment and the answer will always be "no". If you look at the current journal here on FA, the one visible on my front page, and it does not say "Commissions Open Now", then I do not have any openings. As before, I will post a journal prior to the opening to let everyone know what day and time to expect the sign-up journal. If you have any questions about prices and procedures, please visit duoradon.com.
I hope you all have a fun Halloween!
Peace Out.
-D
Also, please don't ask any questions about my Mom, I won't answer them. Thank you.

Free Furry Comics and Toys!
General | Posted 10 years agoI've parted ways with a lot of my clutter, most of it went to a yard sale and Goodwill; I'm very pleased with the amount of things I was able to say goodbye to...it'll go a long way to making room in this much smaller house. But there are a few things that are specifically furry (and some for grown-ups only) that I hope will find a taker here.
I am not selling these things; they are free to anyone who wants them. HOWEVER, you must be able to pay the total cost of shipping, including packaging if applicable. Any and all payment sent to me is NON-REFUNDABLE and items are non-returnable. Payment by PayPal only. I am not responsible for any items lost or damaged during shipment.
You can choose whatever method of shipping you want, but by default I usually go for the Post Office's Flat Rate boxes. You don't have to pay for the box itself and they usually come with a little insurance for domestic shipments.
To make it easier, I'm not sending a single comic issue or one action figure, but rather, grouping them together as described below. If you want one thing in the group, you must take the entire group, please. You can have as much of what's offered as you want, as long as you can pay the shipping cost.
So, if you want anything here, please post a comment on this journal and then I'll contact you privately to discuss shipping. First claimed, first given.
Comics - Adults Only:
Group 1: Taken
Group 2: Taken
Group 3: Taken
Group 4: Taken
Toys for All Ages:
Group 5: Taken
Group 6: Taken
Anything not claimed within the next week or two will either go to Goodwill or in the case of the comics, to the recycle bin. As always, let me know if you have any questions!

District 9 is my favorite!
General | Posted 10 years agoHmm, let's change the subject......
D9 is still my favorite flick of all time, and those buggy aliens deserve all the love we can give them! August 14th was dubbed "Poleepkwa Pride Day" by the founder of the fan group over on DA, which oddly seems to have vanished. Which bums me out.
Anyway, why August 14th? That was the date in 2009 when the film was released in America. So go ahead and show your Prawn love this week! If you've been thinking.....what should I draw, or write, or hey, I've never seen that one, maybe I should watch it, why not do it this week?
Prawn Times, Baby!!

Commission Info Updated
General | Posted 10 years agoHey there, party people. I've updated my Commission section with the new procedures that will be in effect the next time I open for orders. If you're thinking about wanting art from me in the future, please take a look, it's considerably different than it used to be: http://www.duoradon.com/main/commis.....comstatus.html (Prices and rules are there as well).
Everything's more section-y rather than paragraph-y, kind of, so hopefully it'll be easier to read.
Here's a run-down of what's changed:
1) I USED TO take orders by e-mail and make a waiting list, anywhere from 10 to 20 people long. You grabbed a spot, then you waited for it to come around.
NOW when I have openings, they will be through FA journals and begin at the time of sign-up. You claim a spot and start working right away, no wait period. Which brings us to.....
2) You USED TO have 30 days after you were notified that it was your turn to send a description and payment. The reason being that people often had to wait months or even years for their turn. Without knowing precisely when their turn would come up, it would only have been fair to give people time to get things together.
NOW you will have 10 days after you claim a spot to present both your description and first (or total, if under $100) payment. So please don't take a spot if you know you're too busy to work right away or if you know you won't have the money to spare in that time.
I should be available more often now so there's no reason you can't wait to claim an opening when you're prepared for it. If you cannot produce payment within 10 days you'll forfeit your spot.
3) I USED TO allow people to commission however many different projects they wanted as long as it fell under the $400 cap.
NOW I'm asking you to choose only one project per sign-up. There is an updated menu through the link I've provided, hopefully it will be clear enough to understand, but please speak up if it's not.
The $400 limit is still in place, and a single Option may have more than one picture, but all art must be for the same story or idea (except for characters without backgrounds; they don't have to be related but are limited to 6).
For example, a person might want a 5 page line-art comic about Teen Titans. That would be fine, it's all one story and costs less than $400. However, if the person asked for 2 pages about Teen Titans and 3 for a Justice League story, I would ask him to choose one or the other. The reason for this is to help commissions run more smoothly and quickly in the hopes that I will have more openings. By keeping to a single project, you'll only be supplying one description and we'll only be going through the discussion/price-quote phase once. You are, naturally, more than welcome to claim another spot in the future if you'd like another project.
So, I may not handle commissions like this long term, but for now I'm going to see how it works. If you have any questions feel free to voice them, but do me a favor and look through my site info first, it's pretty thorough.
Thanks!
Again, thanks so much to everyone who has watched me this past month! *shakes paws*
When will there be more of this?
A word about my commissions: I get a lot of similar questions about the pictures I post here and on my site; people ask if I'm going to continue a certain comic series or take the project from line art to color in the near future. Please, read the description of the image; if it's listed as a "commission", that means someone paid me to draw it for them. I personally had nothing to do with the characters or what's happing in the picture/comic, I just drew what was described for me. If the person paid for 3 comic pages, we did 3. If they paid for line art only, that's what I did for them. I'm truly flattered that folks are so keen on these pieces, but it's not up to me in any way to make more for the set or scenario. If there is to be more added to a project, it's up to the person who bought it to commission more.
And in regard to making additions as a request instead of a commission, I regret that my financial situation will not allow me to take requests at this time. I can't even get my own projects done right now.

General | Posted 11 years agoFirstly, my sincere thanks to everyone who purchased the kangaroo pic, it was a tremendous help! As always, your generosity is deeply appreciated.
Second, my commission list of 4 years is FINALLY done! So here's what's next in terms of commissions: the first set of new openings will go to my 3 long-term regulars, then I should have some new openings for the general public. I will not be making a waiting list as I have in the past, I will take 1 to 3 orders at a time depending on how much time I have. Those that grab the slots will start working immediately as opposed to waiting for their turn to come up on a list. Shorter payment deadlines will be in place, so please don't take a slot if you're not ready to work on it. I will be posting another journal when I have all my rules and prices updated so you can review the new process before any openings come up.
Openings will still be taken first-come, first-served, but I will be announcing the day of the openings ahead of time. I'm also planning on restricting the first few slots for people who have never gotten a commission from me before.
In addition, I will only be taking commission sign-ups through FurAffinity. Most of my clientele seems to find me there and it's simpler than taking e-mail sign-ups and then having to tell a bunch of people they didn't make it in time, especially since I've only got a few available openings at one time. With a journal announcement, people can see that the spots were already claimed and not bother composing a message, etc.
As for how soon openings may appear, again I cannot say. It all depends on how long I'm laid off from work, which is impossible to know, and whether or not we'll go back to full time in the spring, which no one will tell me yet. I will keep you posted.
On a related note, since I've been getting a variety of inquires lately, I should mention again that I do not take requests or trades. I have done trades in the past (with varied, sometimes unhappy results) and I will only trade art with someone I know well and then only when I have the time, which is rarely. My apologies, if I had tons of money and free time, I'd draw anything for anyone.
Again, thanks so much to everyone who has watched me this past month! *shakes paws*

General | Posted 11 years agoHello boys, girls and dragons of all ages, and Happy New Year!
The past 2 months have been very difficult for me so I'll cut to the chase....the move cost a lot, Christmas cost a lot, my cat was in need of expensive vet care and work cut my hours, so I need money. I've got an exclusive stuffing pic to offer for a meager $5 contribution. It features two of my original characters, Kangaroo Blue and Bill the Cassowary, seen here, if you've never met them: http://www.duoradon.com/main/artwor...../Blue_Bill.jpg
This file I'm selling is flat color, measures 2400x1902 pixels at 200dpi, 1.5 mb. In it, a fat-bellied Blue, face stuffed with sweets, sits atop a very disgruntled and squished Bill.
If you'd like it, please PayPal $5 American to duoradon@hotmail.com. You will then receive a reply with a dropbox link where you can download the file (use the link provided, right-click the image and choose "download").
Please take the time to download and save the file to your hard drive. The links will expire and I will not be sending the file to you via e-mail later because you "forgot to save it".
I will continue to offer this image as long as there is interest in it, up to a few months. I will not post it in my galleries and I ask that you not post it or distribute it either, please.
Thanks for visiting, all the best to you in the new year!

General | Posted 11 years agoNot that I've been around much lately, but over the next week I'll be absent from the Internet. We're moving to a new house soon (not happy about it but I have no choice in the matter), so if you're expecting a reply of any kind from me and don't get it, I'm either packing, moving, or waiting for the re-connection of Internet service. Cosmic-Riptide...please deliver any props and praise directly to him ^_^Commission Status Update
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, I'm almost done with the commission queue I've been working on for the past 3 years. I will have Dragoneer's comic completed soon and posted on FA, and Tach has already confirmed his completion of the Kate comic. I'm sure that will make people happy, Kate gets a lot of favorites. It'll be a while before that one is done and posted; if anyone recalls, I only work on commissions on the weekends now.
But whether I open commissions again or not depends entirely on my job situation. Even though everyone now has their own health insurance, the government still can't decide if places like the one I work for can allow seasonal employees to return to full-time status. Right now I am only permitted 32 hours/week and with my wage, that's not nearly enough to live off of (which is why I live where I do, rent-free). However, within the next 1-2 years my partner and I have to find a way to make enough money to find a new place. Commissions only offer a little extra now and again, at best. So unless something changes, this is what I'm planning:
If my employer allows me to return to full-time next season (which starts in March) I will continue to take occasional commissions. I'd like to take a break from them for a bit first as I'm feeling more than a little burnt out, and I won't be making another queue like before, just one or two orders as time permits.
Conversely, if they will not give me 40 hours, I will either have to look for another full-time job that pays more (good luck with that) or more likely, take a second part-time job to fill in the days I don't work. In either case, I will not be taking commissions again. I can't say never ever, but not so long as that work scenario persists.
So I have no choice but to wait and work and probe other possibilities, of which there are dismally few. As for my side projects, I will get them done mostly because I don't like leaving loose ends untied. Without going into a whole tirade, I've been having feelings of frustration and resentment about my art in the past few months. This is the reason River's Journal is on hold; I just don't feel like working on it. It's different than artist's block this time.....maybe it'll work itself out, maybe I need a massive change. Only time will tell.
At any rate, thanks so much to everyone who stops to browse my tiny corner of the net, and my deepest gratitude to those who've been so supportive, now and since the beginning. I'm glad you like what you see :)
