Battle report, hostility. Rocketmen tabletop.
Posted 10 years agoSo, once again, my roommates and I put on our captain's hats and ignited our engines for another game of Rocketmen, only I didn't take pictures this time, and for added fun, Ome:
unlovedcoatwearer joined in the battle, using the same ships I had last time, to somewhat different results.
Andy opted for cargo light, gun heavy ships to start with, Ome had the same, balanced list I used last time, Chazy used the same list, and I changed to the evil Legion of Terra, with the mighty cruiser Carnifex, the rocket ship Cyclops, and the enormous Ganymed cruiser Dyson (which I called the vacuum for the duration of the game), and in reserve I had the rocket ship Merciless, and the mighty Interociter, with quite a compliment of crew.
Our game started similarly to last time, Ome, Andy, and Chazzy charged for resources, as did the Cyclops and the Dyson, the Carnifex, however, split off and turned left for Chazzy, and over the course of the first two turns turned Chazzy's mercurian rocket ship, the Solstice, into a burning space hulk, then brought the pain on her cruiser the Pulsar, while this was happening, everyone was scooping up the COPIOUS microids and mining their asteroids, for which the Dyson and Cyclops did very well for themselves, getting all the resources between them that I needed to bring in my reserves, although until the very end the Carnifex was the only ship to contribute to the fighting.
For the most part my three neighbors were peaceful, Chazzy essentially losing two ships early on really crippled her war footing, and Andy, despite leaking to me his strategy before the game to go full aggression, did very little combat, and Ome's cruisers the Phoenix and the Dauntless did quite a good job battling the Carnifex and Cyclops, but the latter withdrew after taking substantial damage, and was replaced by the recently-arrived Interociter, meanwhile Ome's ships the Firefly and Orion were engaging one of Andy's cruisers, but were about to be over run by the martian reinforcements when we called the game because Andy was feeling sick.
Points were tallied by resources controled when the game ended, surviving ships and crew, and enemy pods and ships destroyed, each being one point, and the winner of this melee, was by a margin of 1 point, ME! Ome was a close second, and chazzy a close third, with Andy, despite a somewhat weak showing, being a close fourth as well, only 5 points split myself and Andy for points.
The biggest thing I learned was that my instinct that the Carnifex would serve me well was absolutely correct, taking out a far more heavily armed ship, out gunned and out numbered by Chazzy's ships, and not taking ANY return damage in the process, I will seriously take this ship in all my future lists

Battle report, a lesson in tactics. Rocketmen tabletop.
Posted 10 years agoMy roommates Andy, Chazzy, and I, decided to play our new game, Rocketmen, which is actually a very old, out of print constructable strategy game, one which holds a special place to me since I had it when I was a kid, but had no friends then to play with.
I made army lists for each of us, we each got 5 ships, two of which started in reserve, and 60 points total, 30 of which started in reserve, they each had two cruisers and a rocket ship on the board, with two rocket ships in reserve, while I had two rocket ships and a cruiser on the board, with two more cruisers in reserve, we also had crews but their impact on the battle was minimal.
The first two turns were slow, all of us learning to love the movement measurement and referring to the rule book, while making our way to a cluster of microids in the middle of the table, and the two main asteroids, a couple turns later each of us had made a run back with our first resources of the game.
Andy and Chazzy each left a ship to defend their bases while I had all 3 of my ships collecting resources, and by the time we were making our second return runs a pattern had emerged, Andy and I were each a resource short of bringing our first ships in from reserve, and we each had the resources the other needed, so we traded, and as we did this, Andy postured to attack chazzy, he ultimately would too, but not yet,
After Andy and I had traded, I made a deal with Chazzy that would get my second reserve ship into play, while keeping her's out, and as this happened my cruisers rushed to back her up against Andy's encroaching warships, which promptly opened fire on chazzy's rocket ship which was cowering behind one of her own cruisers, the two mighty Martian warships savaged the poor rocket ship, leaving it with only a single pod left out of 5, and that's where I joined the battle.
Our rules were every pod knocked off an enemy, and every enemy ship destroyed, counted as a point, so my cruiser the Dauntless fired on Chazzy's crippled ship, and hit with 2 of it's 3 shots, destroying it and stealing Andy's 2 points, and buying a little time for my two other ships, the Phoenix and the Firefly to charge into range to help, and then thing's just went strange from there.
Andy's previously good luck with the dice deserted him, and he rolled several bad rolls in a row, thankfully, he was not alone, well, not after the first few shots, Chazzy and I both nailed the Heartsblood hard and beat it to death, it ONLY took us 4 ships beating on it to take it down though, then we rolled almost all misses against Andy's second ship in the fight, the Eradicator, a full turn, with 4 ships firing at it, we hit it once, it's return fire was equally ineffective though, only taking a pod off the Phoenix, however, this fight was now 4 on one with Chaz and I both firing on Andy's last ship in the fight, and with 4 more of our ships inbound to his one, at which point Andy, despite having a dice rolling cup, bounce a die off the table and got QUITE upset (our house rule dictates that if you use the dice cup and the die STILL hits the floor, it is an automatic minimum, or is a 0).
At this point we had to stop however, as Andy needed to go to the bank and we decided to call it done there, Andy edged out a win by points, total points being determined by resources at base, surviving ships on the table, and damage done to the enemy, though it is a point of contention that we forgot to double check the score BEFORE cleaning up the table, and I personally contend that I would have tied him for points, had I been paying more attention and double checked.
Pictures of some noteworthy points of the battle will follow. As will more reports as we play more games, I know one thing though, I wont be playing Rebel fleets anymore, not with the ATROCIOUS gunnery of my ships, particularly the Phoenix and the Dauntless in that fight.

The Blood Kitsune
Posted 10 years agoSo some friends and I were talking about, then started working on a Pathfinder campaign, led by
anthrootterperson , who's own custom race encouraged me to make my own sub-race of Kitsune.
(Numbers in parenthesizes is the Race Points that each rule adds or removes, or in the case of the race it's self, the total Race Points)
Custom Pathfinder advanced race:
Blood Kitsune (11)
Monstrous humanoid (3)
Medium size (0)
Normal speed (0)
Specialized (1) +2 STR, +2 DEX, -2 CHA
Linguist (1) (Base languages common and Sylvan)
-
Racial traits
Fearless (1)
Sneaky (5)
Hatred, angels, archons (1)
Weapon Familiarity, katana, wakizashi (1)
Negative Energy Affinity (-1)
Emotionless (-1) -have problems processing emotions properly, and thus take a –4 penalty on Sense Motive checks-
=Brief, rough, poorly written description of the sub-race=
Many have implied that the Kitsune race as a whole has some tie to good outsiders, the relative commonality of Celestial speakers only reinforces these beliefs, however, there are always two sides to the same story. While there is indeed truth to the Kitsune having ties to outsiders, they're not ALWAYS good outsiders, rarely, a Kitsune will have a child with an evil outsider, said child almost never inherits the magic abilities of the Kitsune, including the ability to take human form, but rather a touch of their evil parent which, almost invariably means they have a hatred of good outsiders, utter fearlessness, and a supernatural ability to be undetected in almost any environment, and more over they react to negative and positive energy like undead and similar creatures, healing from the latter and taking damage from the latter.
=Blood Kitsune in Kitsune society=
In Kitsune society Blood Kitsune are particularly misunderstood, and are most often considered to be dark or unholy abominations, and even in the normally accepting and open minded Kitsune culture, and they're often shunned if not harmed or killed outright in their youths, and those that survive are so traumatized that they often become psychotic or sociopathic in their adulthoods. The almost assured chance of the Kitsune mother of a Blood Kitsune dying in childbirth does nothing to quell the dark rumors about the species, and is thought to have helped give them their name. Due to the stigma attached to them, they rarely learn about Kitsune society and even more rarely play a role in it, most that survive are taken to hidden monasteries to be cared for by the monks and maidens that typically care for such places, and while it's unknown how many such monasteries exist, the little known of them comes from the Blood Kitsune that chose to leave them to become adventurers instead of remaining to care for the monasteries themselves, and they do not often speak of their childhoods.
=Personalities=
Where most Kitsune are outgoing, curious, and generally positive and playful creatures, Blood Kitsune are typically quiet and introverted, often preferring jobs and opportunities to work alone or in smaller groups, though some few Blood Kitsune are more outspoken they oft tend to be more reckless and dangerous, this, combined with their reputation for being descendents of evil outsiders typically casts a shadow apon them even from those they adventure with.
=Physique=
Compared to most Kitsune, Blood Kitsune are stronger, but just as fast, though the stigma they carry make them widely distrusted, and it takes an exceptionally charismatic individual to overcome this distrust, though it is known to happen. Otherwise they tend to resemble their regular Kitsune brethern as far as average hight and weight is concerned, however they, unlike regular Kitsune, cannot change into human form, and typically have dark red, grey, or black fur, and while their eyes typically follow the outsider parent's, they often tend towards shades of red or dark pupiless eyes.

Fucking character meme thingadoodledongle
Posted 11 years agoQuestions copypastaed from this fagg- er, dragon:
hyperion-enigma <3
RULES :
1. Pick one of your OCs.
2. Fill in the questions/statements as if you were your OC.
3. Tag at least four people to do this meme!
4. Tell people that they been tagged with a link from your journal
OC Picked: Submersible
Try to read it with his/her voice.
Submersible grumbles as he walks in, stripping his trench coat and vest and tossing them to the side he turns and sits heavily on the chair across from the interviewer, "Let's just be done with this, I have other issues to get to." He says, quite plainly annoyed and wanting to get on with it.
1. What is your name?
"I am Submersible."
2. Do you know why you were named that?
The fox headtilts and shrugs, "Not really. Not that I care."
3. Single or taken?
"Neither, and or both, depending on your interpretation of space-time." He says with a, somewhat dark chuckle.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
The question causes Submersible pause, his eyes glowing a faint greenish tinge, "Well, any, how would I say, sufficiently advanced technology, will seem like magic to an, underdeveloped society." He says with a rather arrogant, condescending tone.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
"Am I painted blue with a fat white inverted-Omega symbol on my shoulder?" He snaps back.
6. What's your eye color?
"Low bio-luminescent gold."
7. How about hair color?
Submersible gently shakes his head and brushes the pink hair from his face, "If the intelligence of a question reflected that of the asker, I would assume you to be a genetic offshoot of the dodo-bird."
8. Have you any family members?
"I assume you mean genetic family, and if I did, I've forgotten them long ago."
9. Oh? How about pets?
"Well... Not in the traditional sense, though I do consider the Sergals that serve me to be my 'pets'."
10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don't like.
Submersible frowns and glares at the interviewer, "In the time it would take me to fully list the things I don't like, a hundred stars would be born, die, and be reformed. Although much of that list could be condensed into two things: Stupidity, and stupid people.
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
"I've been known to paint models, and sketch from time to time."
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
He grins, his eyes glowing just a bit brighter, "Oooooh, what a lovely question, and quite a simple one to answer: Yes."
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
He leans back in his chair, an almost longing, loving look in his eyes, "Rarely, one on one, but throughout this galaxy, there are dead, burning worlds that bare my name, populations of billions turned to ashes with their worlds..." He pauses and blinks, leaning back forward over the table, "Mmm, but I suppose that wasn't quite an answer, yes, yes I have."
14. What kind of animal are you?
He shakes his head again, "I am the true master species, Fox, Vulpine, whatever name you want to use it does not alter our superiority."
15. Name your worst habits.
"I shop at walmart. It's hard to top that."
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
"People who are taller then I am."
17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual?
He turns away slightly and spits on the floor, "Well, since you ask I'm PANsexual, but I suppose I shouldn't expect the likes of you to consider that an option."
18. Do you go to school?
After a long pause, "I'm not going to dignify this with a proper reply." He states, bluntly and annoyed.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
"I have in the past done both, and likely will again. It can be a fun way to pass the time."
20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
"There are cults, and cultists that you might consider fans, though, it's not the word I would use for them even if the first letter is the same."
21. What are you most afraid of?
He barks out a laugh at the question, some, almost arrogant level of self confidence in his voice, "My only true fear, is fear it's self. Also Cthulhu, 'he' and I don't get along well."
22. What do you usually wear?
"Nothing, more often then not. I only wear anything if it's absolutely required for whatever task is at hand."
23. What's one food that tempts you?
"This might be the first INTERESTING question you've asked. there's this one dish, I believe it's called 'Fried Chicken' to your people, also a good pizza."
24. Am I annoying you?
... ... ...
25. Well, it's still not over!
... "I know where your family live."
26. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
"I suppose, by your arbitrary class system I would be considered high class, but then I don't understand this society's obsession with class, so I may have misinterpreted it."
27. How many friends do you have?
"Friends, few. Associates, many."
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
"Arcadia Academy is you children's education center, correct?"
30. Favorite drink?
"Currently, a drink called, 'Mountain Dew Solar Flare'."
31. What's your favorite place?
He strokes his chin and smiles, his head tilting back in memory, "There was this little, backwater planet called Roma III, it was the first society where I encountered pizza, as you know it, and it was one of the few worlds to bow before it's true master. But that seems like forever ago now."
32. Are you interested in anyone~?
"You, and destroying your life."
33. That was a stupid question.
"No. Fucking. Shit."
34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
"On this world? I would prefer not to touch your sickeningly polluted water at all."
35. What's your type?
"I don't have a particular 'type', just who, or what, entertains me at the time."
36. Any fetishes?
"Oh plenty, some are just too terrible to share with you, well, until your society is, advanced, enough to understand and accept them."
37. Seme or uke?
"Die. Just die."
38. Camping or indoors?
Submersible jumps forward out of his chair, his claws glowing green and lengthening while turning razor sharp, one set wrapping around and sinking into the interviewer's neck, the other digging deep into his chest, "Have you ever seen your own heart? Let me show it to you." He says, reaching deeper into the interviewer's chest, wrapping around his heart and with one firm motion pulling it out. Submersible holds the still beating, slowly dying heart in front of the interviewer's face, "To think, that you fleshbags all have such similar anatomy, when it comes to the guts that make you function... What's that look on your face? Worried about your family? Your wife and children? Don't worry, they'll be joining you soon, with the rest of the population of your world as well." He chuckles and watches as the light, the life energy, drains away from the interviewer's eyes.
39. (Tag people!)
Submersible reaches down, dipping his fingers in the pooling blood to write a message on the wall, calling out others to be interviewed:
shuball A very talented, and hilarious individual, who would no doubt make for a good laugh~

And

Fuck it 3 is good enough.
I made myself a promise that on my birthday...
Posted 11 years agoI would start contacting artists I have commissioned but have not heard from about my commission in an extended period.
My birthday was yesterday but I also ended up being busy, so I'm going to START doing that today.
I've recently spoken to two of my outstanding commissioned artists, and just had once provide final art, if any of the three of you read this I assume you know who you are. As for the rest I'll be noting you soon!

Fursona Questionare, totally not ripped off
Posted 11 years ago(Okay, maybe ripped off from
danji-isthmus )
What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
I've always loved foxes above all else, it was only natural.
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
He's more or less me, just exaggerated a bit.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Um, more-or-less, like I said before he's basically just me, but exaggerated, except his willingness to flaunt himself sexually, that's just, something I wish I had.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
By and large yes, since my fursona more-or-less is me.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
Um... Not really... My fursona is cute and kinda feminine while being in shape and everything, and I'm not really any of those things...
Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
Almost... I'm male, my fursona is a c-boy, this has a few things to it, I always liked c-boys, as did my mate, he jokingly made a remark one day that I should make my fursona one and, after a bit of thought, I went, "You know, that's actually a good idea, it's closer to the way I view myself anyways."
Do you have more then one main fursona?
In a way yes, and in a way no, all my characters, including the ones I don't normally like to talk or think about, are to a degree me, it's just which parts are more exaggerated that make their personalities different.
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
I have a back story for all my characters, none of them DIRECTLY tie into my own life.
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
I like to think that they're not mated per-se, but rather a free agent with a particular attachment to a few specific people.
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
More or less a swinger, he does what he wants.
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
In my eyes he's mine, that sets him apart enough, in the eyes of others, maybe his psudo-hidden evil side?
Do you have much art of your main fursona(s)?
Yeaaaaah...
Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
Absolutely not. He's me, a part of me I've poured my heart and soul into.
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I do suit, it's not my main fursona.
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
I have, I used to do it a lot, but, I don't really enjoy it as much as I once did...
Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
More then anything he's a way I use to explore myself, my own mind and whatnot, I guess in a way he's the true me, the one not hidden by the demands of society...

Newyear resolutions and upcoming birthday, also japan.
Posted 11 years agoSo, my end of the year was gaaaaaaaaaaaarbage, but I'm not going to bitch about the past right now.
Rather I'm going to look to the future with a few resolutions:
I resolve to learn to play the ^$%&ing guitar, I already got myself one, a fairly cheap model but still a nice one that I like, an amp, and I'm going to get, like, Rocksmith or something to help me learn
I resolve to get more art, with people I love, people I admire, and from people who's talent I envy
Some other shit that really dosnt matter or that I wont actually live up to...
And I resolve to PAINT MY #$%^ING BLACK TEMPLAR ARMY
----
On a related note my birthday is on the 18th and I'm looking forward to commissioning atleast a few pics, though it cant be as much as I would like since I'm starting college this month as well.
----
And on my final, more somber note;

Just... God damnit japan, y u ruin 'errything?

Christmass Wishlist!
Posted 12 years agoSo, I've been seeing a lot of people posting these, and I figured I might as well make one too.
So, what I would like for christmass:
1. Hugs and snuggles
2. Art of some kind, beggars cant be chosers.
3. A new pair of Tripp pants, since one of my pairs is just falling apart.
4. To make someone close to me happy.
And, eh, I guess like, maybe a new 40k model of some kind.
So, yeah, there that is.

Aaah, nature, and a question for my watchers.
Posted 12 years agoSo, for those that dont know, I live in southern california, north county san diego actually, and, literally, just as I'm typing this, the local coyote pack that lives, probably not more then a block or two away, and are often in the rivine behind my house, went by like, probably like running up the street HOWLING LIKE BANSHEES, it was a glorious sound that honestly gave me a great inner calmness.
I dunno why, but around big canines, wild and domestic, I just get calm, relaxed, and I just feel at home, like, that safeness you feel in your own home. Anyways, I just wanted to share something that brought a smile to my face and made me feel happy.
It also brings me to a question I have for you all, what makes you feel calm and at one with nature?

The ultimate showdown!!
Posted 12 years agoI just fought a spider, it was a tough fight, he was one of my most cunning foes ever, he dodged every attempt to flatten him with my boot, but I was so clever, I went out and found the Raid bugspray, and I hit it hard, but even THAT didnt bring him down at first, he fell to the floor, but even that didnt kill him, I had to hit that fucker with a PROLONGED spray of raid, and even then, painted white with lethal poison, he continued to crawl away from me, even after a second burst he didnt die, a third hit finally did him in, but I'll be damned if he didnt put up a fight, he'll the the Spider Medal of Honor, in spider heaven for the fight he gave me, but ultimately, it was human determination and willpower, as well as calm under pressure, that won the day.
No pity. No remorse. No fear.

Life just never gives me a break
Posted 12 years agoSo, for the past year I've been working as a full time caregiver for my grandmother, its good money, steady work and a free roof to live under.
Or so I thought.
But today I was OH SO politely informed that I have 30 days to get a new job and get out, that my grandmother dosnt want me around. If this had happened a week ago I would be less worried, but I LITERALLY just spent a large amount of money on commissions and warhammer stuff, all of which is either delivered, or shipped (in the case of the warhammer stuff), and I wouldnt ask to cancel the commissions that arnt done anyways, since most of them are close and already have tons of work in them.
And the prospect of being on the street reminded me of so many things...
If I disappeared one day, stopped being on skype, stopped updating my FA, who would even know I was gone? Who would miss me?
Why do I even try to keep living, to make it through the day, when the next day is just as miserable?
Why do I continue to try and do the right thing, be the bigger person when no one else does the same for me?
Why do I try to be good and kind when we live in a world where the strong, heartless, and cruel dont just survive, but thrive, and rule everything?
What difference does me even being alive make?
Or so I thought.

Halloween theme art raffle! And personal thoughts on raffles
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5021156/
V Read! V
PsychoticBubble is having an art raffle with a halloween theme! Seems quite apropriate, PsychoticBubble is a talented artist so you really should go sign up!
Now, on a more personal note, since this is going to be my top journal I want to throw out a thought I've had;
I've been in the furry community for a long time, damn, close to, I think 7 years now? But there are so many great artists that I've never even heard of, and I've come across so many of them through pimped art auction journals, even if I only enter less then half of the auctions myself, I've still found so many artists I now watch through them, and pimped journals on other pages I watch, that I'm really surprised more people don't do them, I understand its time and money away from paying commissions, but the publicity more then offsets that it seems.
Anyways I just wanted to leave this as a thought on my page for whoever may see it.

So, I just got my Baneblade today. SHIT ON A SINGLE SO MANY PARTS! And the turret is so huge I think it may have it's own gravity well! And to top that off all the tracks and trackguards take SO much assembly, I'm both in love with and horrified of all the work I have to do on this thing, but the result is one of the sexiest tanks ever. Well, only one thing to say now...
NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR! *charges in headlong*

Armor Raffle
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4976037/
So, I dont normally pimp journals, even for raffles, it's not my thing, but this one is really neat and really got my attention, it's hosted by an awesome artist that I wish I had known about sooner, because their art is amazing.
The raffle is for a fully painted image of your character in any armor, so for example mine would be Submersible in the armor I have on my page.
Anyways even if you dont enter the raffle you should still drop by their page, they do REALLY good work.

Posted 12 years ago...When I had 100 watches, thanks to EVERYONE that watched me so far, it means a lot that so many people like my character <3
I just dont know...
Posted 12 years ago...How it is that I'm so talented at always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, I do it, a lot, to the people I care about most...
...It makes me think sometimes its just not even worth caring about people, so I don't have to worry about inevitably hurting them in the end.
Anyways I'm going to not drag on, and on, and on and just go to bed instead.
