So today marks the first day in over two years that I'll be updating my journal. If you turn your attention to my gallery you'll notice that the entirety of Stripes and Chains past chapter 1 has been removed.

Why?

This is because I am revamping the story. Do note that this is not a retconning. Past stories have been saved to my hard drive and are still available to view and read on my Weasyl account. Weasyl will be updating differently now that I know they support PDF files. SnC is undergoing a small rewrite. The story itself will be expanded on between chapters 5 and 7. Benjamin and the rest of the cast will be receiving more character development. Past chapter 5 things will be a bit different. Pacing will be different, characters will be expanded, new side stories will be posted. Rest assured though that the themes and events to take place in later chapters will return but with a new veneer.

The purpose is because I had written that a year had passed between chapters 5 and 7. Looking back this was severely unsatisfactory and lazy on my part. We never got to witness what really happened during that year. Now you will. Chapters 2 through 5 are staying much the same as they were but they will be receiving an update in writing style. I'm not much better than I was before, but sufficiently so that I feel what was there was not up to my new personal standard. I kept rereading my work and noting how things could be better written or better detailed. Look for these chapters to return all polished and shiny in the following weeks. The next chapter is already four pages out in what I hope to be 12 to 20 pages. It will be added along with chapters 2-5 once those have been refurbished.

Also, I'm going to be making folders and categorizing every thing.

Please excuse my mess in the meantime and for those of you who have held out in the hopes of my return, thank you so much for your support!

I hit 200 watchers at some point I missed. Some of you have far, far more. I'm rather proud of my tripple digits. I haven't written in ages but I'm finally getting back into the swing of it, half way through a new chapter now. Keep you're eyes peeled later this week readers. Art enthusiast: sorry but I don't have any thing currently on the burner.

Cool, I hit the big one double-oh. I know most of you are here just for the art but that's okay. I try to tell as much of the story as I can through my commissions as much as my own writing. And I'm glad you all enjoy it enough to want to stick around.

So I've been watching the series since the beginning. Some complaints of seen is that despite being made by a handful of some of the most celebrated authors and artists in recent Anime history, that it's not going any where. They it's wasted talent with the simple and childish way each episode plays out.

Of course, many artists and authors in anime and manga have done things like this. They'll do something serious, compose a masterpiece, and then take a break and just throw ideas that seemed silly against a wall. Excel Saga comes to mind over this, it being a parody of what was popular in anime at the time. Space Dandy seems to be doing this as well, while taking scientific theories and ideas to extreme in spoofing.

Honestly, any one who watched the opening monolog and thought this was going to be some great glorious combination of Japan's greatest minds deserves, at least partially, the disappointment they felt. Having watched every episode up to date so far, I can tell this wasn't meant to be super serious, and we can thank Toonami for hyping it like it was going to be a supernova of awesomeness. They toted the Cowboy Bebop/Soul Eater deal way too hard.

But last night's episode...man. Yeah, I get what they were doing. It was only a matter of time before they made a parody of Hayao Miyazaki. They had done almost every other major Mangaka so far, but this felt less like a parody and more like an homage. Normally we see Dandy bandying about like a complete tool, and acting arrogantly like he's the greatest thing in space, because he's Dandy. But...this time it felt different. There was some actual deep stuff in this episode and I deeply loved the end conclusion of "Every thing's all right, no matter what, because I'm Dandy."

Also, that end. Heh, pretty much tells you how the whole series ends. Its ends all right, because he's Dandy.

Many of us who write fanfiction do so because the setting presented is irresistible. The world is established but with enough pockets left open for other imaginative minds to take advantage of and present something new. Some times its just what we would like to see, but mostly its ideas and events that accentuate whats already happened or is happening. One of the greatest honors a fanfiction writer can ever dream of is the praise from the author of the original setting. It gives a sense of completeness, acceptance, and incomparable joy.

To have Dragontalon not only approve of the leading lady in my story but to also show that he's read and even likes what has been written is one of the greatest moments I've experienced here on FA, and it inspires me to write even more. This was going to be a journal entry about the sudden funk I've been feeling and the worry of it causing a writers block. Dragontalon? You've shattered that block. Thank you so much. For approving of my characters, for finding my story enjoyable, and for giving me another lift your story provided in the beginning.
