This is a question to anyone who commissions artists to get work drawn for them.

How long do you feel is an acceptable amount of time between asking for a commission, and getting the finished picture? A week? Two weeks? A month? More still? I understand that in most cases, its a "It's done when its done" thing but I'm curious as to what people think.

Also how many revisions of the picture do you like to see before the finalised version? When I'm commissioning people I like to see at least one, but that's just me. I'd imagine some people prefer the surprise of a completely full picture?

Anyway, any thoughts?

Hey all,

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday, whether it be on DeviantArt, FurAffinity or an irc or twitter or whatever - it means an awful lot to me so thanks a lot.

I don't make a big deal about my birthday as I don't want everyone to feel like they have to draw me anything, but a bunch of very kind people have done exactly that. So thank you everyone who has drawn me something, you all did a great job!

Blcksheep has drawn a few of my characters in the past, including for my birthday last year, and all of those have come out really nicely too. So it's definitely a real honour to get another gift from him this year. He decided to draw Vapour swimming underwater with some orcas and managed to draw her really well. They'ed better watch out though, you all know what Vapour's like!

Whitefox asked me if he could colour a picture a while ago, which I'm absolutely fine with if people ask me in advance. he ended up deciding to make it a birthday gift, finishing it around the time of my birthday. Anyway, this is a picture I actually did as a commission from a few years back. But Bren was turning into Vapour (or at least half Vapour) in this series, and Whitefox liked it enough to want to colour it!

Sakura was originally going to get a surprise picture for my birthday, but was worried that I'd be offended by having her character in a gift. So she asked me what i was okay with and such, and i said I was absolutely fine with having her character, as well as making my character human so both she and the artist are more happy with the picture too, being from a non furry background. Human Erika isn't something that I'd normally draw myself but Kenju's done an absolutely fantastic job at keeping her very faithful to the original design, while making her human too. The spiked collar around her neck is a really nice touch, a one that I really like. Anyway, the whole mixing playing with cities and planets at the same time thing is so very Erika, that I just love how it's came out. So thanks to both Sakura for commissioning it, and Kenju for drawing it. You both did great!

Finally we have a lovely little sketch by CaptainQ, who actually apologised for not drawing me anything, to which I told him that "It's absolutely fine, he doesn't have to!", and then proceeded to draw me something anyway. He hasn't uploaded it anywhere but dropbox, and I'm not sure yet if he will, but it's a really good sketch of Vapour. Q's recently finished a commission for me too which you can view on FA, and on my website with the rest of his work he's done for me, when I get it updated.

So yes, a big thank you to everyone who's drawn stuff! It means a lot to me!

Been working on a feature that I've been wanting in VMS for a few years, eventually got around to implementing it over the last few days. There's now a menu listing all the accounts which have been added to VMS, making it really easy to add silhouettes to a scene. As well as characters and such, this also includes various other things for size references. Including animals, buildings, landmarks, cloud types, vehicles countries, planets, and stars. I plan to add to this as time goes on but its a good start for now.

I ended up designing a dress, mostly by accident for the Sleeptime picture. I'm going to be reusing this in an upcoming picture if all goes to plan. Anyway, rather than reposting it, I just updated the old character reference.

I was recently asked by  Artie if I could write something that would allow him to watch multiple livestream shows in the same window. So I spent the majority of yesterday writing this: http://stampydragon.com/multistream/

It's a webpage which allows you to add livestream windows to it, as well as choose their sizes. To add a channel, simply type the name of the channel into the box in the top left, and click Add Channel. You can repeat this for as many streams as you want, and you can also close a stream again by hitting the close button to the top right of each stream. One other small feature, is that you can click the copy URL button to create a URL to allow you to share the current channels, with the options currently listed in the boxes. I know a few people have been wanting something like this for a while, so hopefully it'll be useful to people.
