New Job, Finally Started!!
General | Posted 17 years agoIt actually started a month ago. It's been pretty good so far. All I do really is load and unload 150mm silicon wafers from furnaces, and measure the thickness of the oxide grown on them (so far).
I work 4 days in one week, then I have 4 days off, then I work 3 days, then I have 3 days off. It looks like this (mine are the gray days);
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b.....e528/hours.jpg
12 hour shifts too, so I get boo-koo overtime, still only ends up being ~$300-$400 per week :/

Urotsukidoji (overfiend) end credits music - sounds familiar
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, I finally watched this thing again.
I couldn't help but notice that the music that plays during the end credits sound like a direct rip-off of John Williams music for E.T., only with slightly differing melodies. The themes and timing sounds identical.
Maybe I'll do a proper comparison.

What's up with porno movies?
General | Posted 17 years agoHaving had worked for a security company, one of the places we installed security cameras at was a porno store. The guy threw in a couple of free porno dvd's before I left.
I tried watching one of them last night, and it was about what I expected. BORING!
BORING BORING BORING BORING BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might have watched a whole five minutes of it before I turned it off.
I just don't get it. I get much more enjoyment reading stories and viewing artwork from here.

New Job, Texas Instruments.
General | Posted 17 years agoSo I've been in Texas now since January 15th (2008). Been looking for work, saw an ad in the local paper for 'job fair' at the workcenter. Went there, turned out to be "Volt' hiring for TI. Did their application, took their test. A week later they called me and told me to go to the TI place on a Tuesday for another test.
Went to the TI place for their test, which was almost the same as the paper one at the workforce center, just longer, and on PC. I was in the first group of six to complete it, and the lady took us out and said we all passed and to come back on Thursday for a 'smock-up' test.
Went back and they made us wear cleanroom garments for two or three hours. The guy said we all passed and to come back the following Tuesday for the real hard part.......INTERVIEWS.
So I came back and there were seven of us. Seven out of I think 30. I clearly did well on the interview, because they hired me. I'll be making ten dollars an hour, 12 hours a day. Three days on, four off, four on, three off.
Now I just have to wait till they decide we are starting, which won't be till the end of April at least, I think.
I'll be working in the cleanroom doing microchip fabrication.

I guess they think scribbling meaningless garbage on other peoples property is more important than having a life and a job. I really don't get them.
Believe it or not, I showed the video to the kid, HIS FATHER, and the property manager in person. The kid/dad were speechless.

Moving to Texas?
General | Posted 18 years agoMost likely. This weekend my mom is going there for an interview to transfur within the company. If all goes well, then I am going to moe with her, in January. Housing is a lot LOT cheaper there than anywhere in California. I pay 500 dollars a month to sleep on a couch at a friends house, and she pays 900 or so for a tiny one room apartment. She will be paid the same amount from the same company.
Things to do before I move:
Go to Further Confusion. Looks like all the rooms are sold out, so I'll need to either find a hotel further away, or room with someone? maybe?
Fix shocks on car.
I can't think of anything else, seriously. I have a pretty empty plate most of the time.

General | Posted 18 years agoSo you hate your computer? I'll take it free of charge!
Ship via your preferred method (USPS) to......my address.....
ask and it shall be given.
(yes I am serious. No, I don't actually NEED computer or computer parts, but I like to collect them anyways).
Also if anyone has keys or locks, I collect those too.

Army Annual Training.
General | Posted 18 years agoFirst week is done, finally. They let us go at noon today for mothers day.
This is another bull crap annual training in my opinion. We are doing home-base inventory for ANOTHER change of command. Seems like every other drill there is a change of command, and it gets very old very fast! I have nothing against inventory. What makes it so irritating is the fact that literally half the stuff we have can't be inventoried without help from other people from maintainance who are coming tomorrow to help us with the mechanics tools and things (since our motorpool/mechanics all got moved). The only thing we have going for us is the fact that we seem to have accounted for almost every piece of stuff we have, which not a lot of other guard units can say, from what I hear.
Today and yesterday we did preventative maintainance checks and services on our vehicles (HMMWV's) and generators. Lots of things are wrong with the stuff, and none of it looks like it will ever get fixed because we have no people who have the authorization or training to properly diagnose and fix the problems.
I've got some pictures coming up here, and maybe if I'm lucky I can get a decent time-lapse video of a few hours of our working at the armory.

Work Story - How I got fired!
General | Posted 18 years ago(Stolen from KushrenadaT)
The job: United Parcel Service
I had worked there for just over six months, and I started as a Pre-loader. Pre-loaders load the 'delivery cars' (trucks) so the driver can deliver the stuff. I was never really assigned a route of 4 trucks, instead I was moved around all the time. I never was able to get really fast because of this, and the seemingly clueless supervisors couldn't see that. They moved me to unload, where they unload the big semi-trailers, which is like 5 months after I started.
Not long after working in unload they get a new in-house labeling system installed, which UPS uses to route packages around. There's a computer, barcode scanner, and label printer at each unload door. A person stands there and scans each package as it goes by and slaps the label on the box.
One morning I opened a command prompt on one of these computers and typed NET SEND * BLAH!
I looked and all the computers had the message window and thought "ha ha that was funny" and carried on with what I was doing. About three or four hours later 2 guys wearing suits walked up to me with the local stupidvisor and started asking me if I was working at a specific location at around a time. I knew right away what I was in for, but what I didn't know was that the suits had come from NORTHERN CALIFORNIA to SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA to chew my ass out and fire me. They told me that the message window popped up on computers up north, so I can only imagine that it went to at least every computer in the country. They even said stuff about pressing charges or whatever, terrorism, that kind of thing. Fortunately in the end they just said we can fire you or you can quit.
I chose to quit. I was tired of being treated like trash all the time, and working from 1 to 5 in the morning really screws up your life. I was under a lot of stress. Not three weeks later I found a job at Fry's electronics. Even though I was making minimum wage compared to the 10.50 at UPS, I was working full time and was having a lot more fun. I ended up making nearly or more than twice the cash.

Back from a weird drill.
General | Posted 19 years agoThis month was seriously, the strangest drill I have ever been to. When you think "ARMY", I'm sure you think "A lot of guys in uniform doing army training things with guns and stuff."
Well, normally we have at least 15 people show up for drill, not that it's an option not to. A lot of our guys have been mobilized on different missions like Iraq, the border mission, school, etc. It's something the army has been doing a lot of since Iraq rolled around. Instead of deploying a unit as a whole, which is ideal, they'll pick and choose soldiers and send them. It's really a pain in the ass and it destroys unit readiness. This drill only 9 people were around!!! We didn't even have to put on our BDU's, we spent the weekend in our PT's.
And a lot of bull crap fell on our shoulders. We had to do inventory, which is a pain because everything is spread out and names for things are in the crazy army language. The most human unfriendly inventory sheet I have ever seen.
We didn't do any of the classes that were on the schedule. We didn't even do PMCS for any of our equipment! And since I'm such a failure when it comes to physical training, I had to do a lot of push-ups, sit-ups and other various excercizes, I was destroyed on Sunday and Monday (not complaining, I need to do it and pass the test before I can go to school in June.)
As expected, there wasn't much worth taking a picture of, so I'll post a pic of our day room and a couple of sleepers.

Another weekend from hell coming up.
General | Posted 19 years agoThis months drill with the army national guard is not going to be any fun. I'll have to get up really early on Saturday to waste time with PT, then we get to do a whole lot of bull crap for the rest of the weekend. The schedule seems to be focusing on "access control to a military installation" and "searching vehicles."
The we get to cut grass, pull weeds, and paint rocks. What a shitload of fuck. I doubt I'll get any decent photographs this weekend.

A second AND third job, and more money!
General | Posted 19 years agoWell, My first job for those who don't know, is this; I work as an on call stage tech at a local performing arts center. they pay 17 dollars an hour, but I don't work more than a few days in a month (so far).
The second job, which came as a complete surprise, is working IT. I got a call from a staffing company in Ohio that contracts for IBM and Dell, and they call me and I go and install or upgrade point of sale systems in big stores. Today and tomorrow and a day last week I installed a bunch of new IBM registers at a Kohls that is opening in three weeks. They pay between 15 and 17 an hour so far.
My third most recent job is at Papa Johns Pizza, for which I get the most hours now. This is the third time I've worked for PJ's, this time as a driver. I had no idea that drivers made so much on tips! In two days I've made 75 dollars in cash! Papa Johns Pizza is a really fun place to work if the people aren't dicks like they were the last time I worked there, in Orange County. It's also really easy to get work there. In the three times I've applied, they hired me that day or the next day without even an interview.
So now I work three jobs, it's weird.
