Starmade Update 2nd/March
Posted 10 years agoNapther here, with some updates on the Game!
Starting off with a TL;DR copy-pasta from the official site, http://star-made.org/news
Hello players,
this update is something very special. While we are still working on a lot of new features, we took the time to take an indepth look at several systems. Mainly the graphics and the network code. ...
...
Custom Starter Gear
Servers are now able to define their own starter gear for new players. This includes credits, blocks, meta items, and blueprints (filled or not)...
...
Forcefield doors
This new door types added by kupu adds wonderful looking new doors.
...
Faction permission changes
A lot more options for customization has been added to faction roles. There are now permissions to control relationship changes (declare war, personal enemies, etc), faction news posting, taking/abandoning a homebase, and territory claiming/clearing. If you are a faction leader be sure to check and adapt your roles accordingly.
Balance changes
Calbiri, Lancake, as well as the tester team modified and gave feedback to a whole bunch of balance changes.
Hull blocks have been buffed in order to improve the survivability of ships:
Normal hull has 75 HP now.
Standard armor now has 60 armor and 100 HP, bringing it to 250 EHP.
Advanced armor now has 75 armor and 250 HP, bringing it to 1000 EHP
Power supply beams have been buffed to bring it back to near pre-rework levels.
They are slightly less effective compared to what they used to be but they still offer around 5 to 6 times more power regen than their onboard equivalent in pure power regen blocks.
Power supply/tick: 40 -> 240
Power consumption/tick: 50 -> 270
The piercing defensive effect cap has been decreased but the amount of blocks you need to achieve max percentage has been decreased. This will bring the max achievable EHP to 2500!
Shield capacitors have now 2 times more shield HP, this is to make fights last longer and increase the chance of surviving high alpha damage.
Regen rate has remained unchanged.
Shield Capacity Total Mul: 55 -> 110
Warheads (dis-integrators) have doubled block damage.
Missile + Pulse:
Radius has been nerfed to 48, with explosive you can get 58
Slightly faster, nerf: 4 -> 3
Does more damage, buff: 1 -> 2
Missile + Beam:
Slower so anti missile turrets have less chance of missing buff: 2 -> 1
Other changes:
Ingots and crystals are 2 times cheaper to make it easier to craft advanced and crystal armor.
Shield cap and re-chargers are 2 times cheaper.
HP of the more expensive systems, mainly weapons and support tools, has been increased by a factor of 2-3 in most cases.
...
(TLDR on the Changes to Piercing and Punchthrough effect.)
To clear things up, these are the current 3 hull damage types (not blocks):
Piercing damage system: Damage applied on a block gets halved and goes to the next block. This will automatically lead to a softcap at around 7 blocks deep. This also makes it able to destroy/damage blocks below armor plates without destroying that first.
Punchthrough damage system: Damage applied on a block gets deducted with that block’s EHP, then it is halved and passes to the next block. This also has a softcap at around 7 blocks.
Explosive damage system: ⅙ of damage gets applied to all touching blocks.
Soooo! It seems Punchthrough is now not the dominant weapon! Pulse Missiles are no longer Mega Torpedoes, but move faster... Questions and Answers are to be had here!

Updates and things, 27/Feb
Posted 10 years agoFirst off, a giant in sci-fi has departed us, Leonard Nimoy passed away at age 83 to complications of COPD. Don't smoke, or smoke wisely.
His last tweet on sunday had the privilege of being prose to live by:
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. Live Long and Prosper.
Also, there are apologies to be had for nobody checking the group. I need to go bite some british space dragons on the tush for ignoring it. Even if I did too. -Lupi
I heard there were some new updates, but the internet here is throttled so I can't look up the update blog post.

Update: 10/Feb
Posted 11 years agoLupi here, with server updates:
Server News
It's been drawn to my attention that there are those who would host a server for the group.
That being said, some of us are currently vested on Scorched Gaming, myself included (wtf i'm staff somehow)
So have a poll:
http://strawpoll.me/3610301
Scorched
Pros: Already established, competent playerbase that can help us out (prox), badass custom pirates, helpful staff (lel not me)
Cons: Not explicitly furry, competent playerbase that can wipe us out (slib), badass custom pirates.
Private
Pros: Fresh slate, RP friendly, could do really anything.
Cons: Unsure of uptime, having to restart from scratch, lamer pirates.
Group News
It's actually been really quiet, I'm about to search "starmade" on FA and see if there's anything new to fav.
Game News
Expanded here.
They improved the functionality of the new UI, readding the ability to access any inventory in a structure while occupying it in a computer or build block or etc.
You can name inventories now, but it's limited to 16 per structure(??)
Also, they hopefully fixed the derpage with the new UI where using it would crash you. (Makes setting up a sorting system pretty damn hard.)
Thanks for reading, Check back for more in the future!

Thursday Update: 29/Jan
Posted 11 years agoLupi here, updating on recent events.
Server News
In the past week, the server we play on has detached from IGNITE, procuring better hosting, their own forums+teamspeak, and a much more powerful machine/service that can actually handle what it's given.
Sounds good, right?
Until Maris, the owner of IGNITE and professional bitch decided that he actually cared that we left. Ignores starmade consistently, never saw him except in the CS:GO channels and private channels on TS. Server gets fucked with by him or some cronies of his, taken down for more than a day. This isn't 100% proven, but given the circumstance, there's not really anyone anywhere besides him with any drive to mess with us.
It's back up now, and everything's smooth. There'll be a downtime sunday evening (american time) for some important cleanup maintenance backup stuff, so this doesn't happen again. In the meantime, get cozy on the new server. It's essentially the old server, just without the rest of IGNITE attached.
Group News
• We've hit 15 members, not counting the staff. Thank you so much! Keep spreading the word, if you can, and we can grow further! Put the icon in your profiles, maybe make a shout? I can't force you guys to do much of anything.
• We have a steam group! It's not really got anyone in it, but it'd be good for communication since faction chat is so yucky (that, and it doesn't work with multiple factions.)
• Ship submissions! If you have a design you want featured in the group's gallery, send a note with a picture and/or dropboxed blueprint and we'll take a look!
Game News
• The game's UI has been retooled, and is currently available in experimental builds! This is really old news, but I find it may be relevant regardless.
• See the official blog post for more information.
Check back every now and then for more news! Hopefully, things will be calm enough that you don't need to see many of these!

Server Update!
Posted 11 years agoAs you may have known, we are based off of IGNITE Gaming.
Not anymore! The community rebranded, and sorta splintered off from ignite.
It's now "Scorched Gaming." How witty.
With that, comes a new IP:
167.114.116.122:4242
And a new website for you to all go to:
http://scorchedgaming.boards.net/
Do with this information what you will, but I think Silverstar Technologies is full for now. You should all get together and create your own factions!
The information on our page should be updated shortly.

Thoughts on the state of the group/game
Posted 11 years agoLupi here, bringing up a few questions that the others and I have been bouncing around.
1. If we rented a server, would any of you play on it?
2. Should we accept ship submissions for review and such, and post them to this page?
IGNITE, as we're quickly remembering, is not a very noob-friendly server. We're probably not gonna last there much longer, the way things are going.
Napther: I do like that (IGNITE's) pirates ARE strong, its just that we have been stricken with bad luck.
Lupi: Fair enough, but there's still the idea of having our own dedicated StarMadeFurs server. Even if it's just a handful of us on, it might be worth it. But we'd need some decent pirates to make it any fun, not just random things. That's where these ship submissions could come in handy, if anyone actually participates.
It should be said that depending on what we get, a server's going to cost between 9 and 18 USD a month, so it's a serious consideration. Right now, it's not even something we can do, but it's a thought for the future.

Welcome, Everyone!
Posted 11 years agoLupi here, thank you all for watching! We don't have many yet, but for a group that's only existed for a few hours, it's a lot!
Hope to play with some of you soon, feel free to submit your ships to us in notes and such!
