Well, after more than a year of not really drawing anything, I think I'm going to give in to my art urges for a bit.

Any volunteers/requests?

My terms are thus:

1. You don't pay anything
2. I don't promise anything; I might not draw anything at all, or I might draw very poorly
3. If you volunteer or leave a request here, you're giving me permission to use your character(s) and ideas(s) and to post/exhibit any resulting art wherever I want
4. To volunteer, please leave a comment with links to character references and some general idea of what you'd like me to draw
5. To make a request involving generic characters rather than your own, please describe the scene/fetish/species/whatever it is you'd like to see

Sorry if the terms sound a bit stiff. I just can't commit to doing real serious commissions right now so I figured at least making these free makes it more reasonable.

The last journal I posted was more than a year ago so I kinda wanted to push it off the front page. So here's a bit of a random update:

I've got a nice career going in Washington state but it also means I don't have a lot of free time. I've found that trying to be an artist, musician, programmer, dancer, etc all at once is spreading that time too thin, so I'm trying to focus on just music for now. That's why I haven't done any art in pretty much forever. Sometimes I really want to get back into it so maybe I will some day, but no promises.

In the meantime, I'll just be browsing other peoples' art on here and occasionally fagging it up in fursuit.

I've been telling everybody I can't plan cons 'cause I don't know what's going on with my job situation and such.

I've officially scheduled the time off and booked a room. MFF is a go.

I haven't taken a commission in about 5 years, mostly because I don't feel my art is up to the level of quality where people should pay for it. However, enough people have asked me about it over the last year or so that I'll give it a try.

So here's the deal:

- This is NOT first-come, first-served. I will pick the commission I want to do from everyone who comments on this journal.

- The piece will be fully colored, and shaded/lighted, with a background if the description calls for one. Basically it will be somewhere in the detail/quality range of everything else in my gallery.

- Price is $40, to be paid via PayPal after I show you a work-in-progress and we talk through any changes you want made. That way I know exactly what I'm doing before any money gets involved, and I can still back out if you want huge changes that I wasn't expecting.

- Porn is allowed. And encouraged.

- I will not draw: Serious violence, gore, any non-soft vore, sexual situations involving clearly-underage characters, or copyrighted characters you do not own (unless the owner posts here that they give permission). There are surely other things I didn't think for that list, but I'm also open to considering a lot of things. If in doubt, it doesn't hurt to ask.

- There are no hard limits on complexity or number of characters, but I probably won't pick one that is super difficult.

- Don't commission me if you're not happy with the current quality level of my work.

- This doesn't necessarily mean I won't keep doing gift art for friends and free stuff for the people who volunteered earlier.

Reply to this journal with a *detailed* description of what you want, and links to reference images of all characters involved. I'm not taking commissions to help design characters at this time, so anything without a reference will be skipped.

Oh, and most importantly!

Thanks to everyone who's been supportive of my art and/or suggested I take commissions. I take that as a huge compliment when someone actually DOES think my art is worth paying for, and I'm sorry I haven't put the time into it to post a lot more and improve my skills.

As some of you know, I spent about a year and a half living off my savings working on an indie game, and then started job hunting 2ish months ago when I ran out of money. Well, the hunt is over! I've got two great offers, and I'm going to be moving to somewhere in the vicinity of Seattle.

I'm still job hunting at the moment, which is why I haven't gotten back into art like I was planning to. However, I have a few hopeful prospects now so hopefully I'll be getting things back to normal (as if they ever were normal before) sometime soon.

Also, it's been so long since I've done any furry art that I feel like I've really lost a lot of whatever meager skill level I had. I've tried sketching a few things but I just don't know what I'm doing. Then again, I felt like that most of the time back when I was drawing more often too.

I think I'm just going to start putting a little time into practice sketches that I know in advance will be low quality.

P.S. if you want free sketches that I GUARANTEE TO BE FRIGHTFULLY BAD, comment here with all of the details of what you want. Anything that's not specified in the comment I'm just going to make up at random and it might not be what you wanted :P

Just to be clear this is a CLEAN picture, not an orgy. Also, if you want to be in it I either need reference art or a detailed description of what makes YOUR lombax visually unique so that we don't get a bunch of look-alikes. Preferably both.

I'll include everyone who replies by 8PM EST tomorrow (March 30) as long as the reference/description is included. I reserve the right to exclude trolls, just in case.

I am super excited, especially since I made this entire song in one sitting and it came out much better than expected! If you've ever been interested in my music, I suggest checking this out.

I've always had short spells of drawing a lot and then drawing nothing for months. This time it's because I'm working on a career change; I've quit my job and I'm putting all my time into a project that I'm hoping will get me the job I want.

I do wish I had all the time in the world to keep drawing in addition to that, but every month I spend unemployed is bad for the finances. I expect it will be at least a few more months before I start drawing again, but hopefully things will be stable enough then that I can draw on a regular basis.

I'm really looking forward to drawing more delicious furry things, so hopefully it won't be too long!

More and more people have been asking about commissions lately and I'm starting to seriously consider taking a few. But my question is - what do you think is a fair price?

If I do take commissions it will only be one at a time, and it will only be for pieces of the same quality and complexity as I've been posting recently. I want everything I do to be the my best instead of stopping at just a sketch or something.

Any suggestions?

That's about 10 hours worth of drawing sped up to fit in 8 minutes. Maybe some day I'll actually be fast enough to show you my process in real-time :P

Well, summer break was nice while it lasted but now I'm back on campus with classes starting tomorrow. Sadly, my roommate is a conservative straight non-fur, so basically I can't be drawing any porn while he's in the room. With classes and part-time work I might not have that much time for art anyway.

However!

I think I'm often more productive when I have less free time anyway. If I'm in the mindset of managing time and getting things done, I tend to keep getting things done in my time off. So, we'll see what happens.

You know what they say, "sex sells," though I'm not really talking about selling in the literal sense. So far even my yiffy art has been very tame, and I think that's part of why I've never had more than 4 people comment on one of my pictures. I'm jealous of the people who have a huge crowd drooling over everything they submit.

Therefore I'm "selling out," in the sense that I'm going to start drawing a lot more explicit pictures to try to get attention.

--Also--

I'm almost always a follower of the Golden Rule; do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So, when I was disappointed that I never get any gift art or free stuff drawn for me, I started drawing things for other people. My last 4 pictures (and my best so far) have all been for other people.

Sadly, though the Golden Rule is nice in principle it doesn't get results very often.

I've experimented with many techniques and gone through a variety of styles, but I think I've finally landed on something I really like and want to keep doing.

Specifically, I'm thinking about the "Morning Shower" pictures and "Zal - In the Field".

I think in these, my art finally looks more like... art. I'm putting more thought into lighting, planning out scenes more thoroughly from the beginning, and OpenCanvas is making things much easier for me. I'm also really enjoying the painted look I get from coloring and lighting in OpenCanvas.

Before, I'd run out of memory and have problems if I tried to do anything too big or with too many layers. Time was wasted battling the software and not spent on the actual art.

Now I'm much happier with my end-results, and I'm looking forward to drawing a lot more this summer.

Unfortunately I uploaded my best pictures first and my worst pictures last, so in order to avoid the worst clogging up the first page of my gallery I've moved a lot of stuff into "Scraps".

In short, there's a lot more to see in "Scraps" if you're interested.

I hate putting up an entire art gallery and hearing maybe one comment in a month. That's why I freaking love this place right now!

I've uploaded pretty much all the art I'm going to until I get some more done (which will take a while), and I'm debating whether or not to put up more music.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking about venturing into the fiction area a bit. I've already got stories on yiffstar, but the the sake of completeness I could put them on here as well.

Now that I've exhausted pretty much an entire day on this site, it might be time to get back to other things like working on my fursuit, but we'll see.
