no not for two month's downtime followed by no new features

so i've been itching to do computer stuff lately. not do stuff with my computer, but do stuff too it. I downloaded a random distro and tried to run it from my iPod that hardly works as a music player anymore, but ran into problems there... And of course I said 'fuck it,' backed up my documents and music and reformatted my whole damn MacBook And I don't have an OS X restore disk. So I guess I'm stuck with Linux now.

Anybody got any suggestions for a badass distro or something? I mean, I know Ubuntu works great right out of the box (er download whatever) but that seems to easy... Though I guess I can get into the hardcore customization afterwards, that's the whole point of linux.
