Emergency Commissions Open for Burial and Hospital Debt
Posted 2 years agoEmergency Commissions are now open for Don's burial and to pay the medical expenses. There are 4 artists participating in this Commission For A Cause. I will be leaving the samples and price lists of each artist below, please feel free to contact any of us and state that the commission is for Don so part of the proceeds will go to his burial and medical expenses.
Our dear friend Don has recently passed away after three long years of fighting against CIDP. With these emergency commissions we would like to give Don a proper resting place. We are also hoping to help his family and Stei (his fiance) pay for all the debt they've incurred for hospital and medical expenses as soon as possible to stop the constant debt collecting from retraumatizing them and serving as a painful reminder that despite giving everything we have and more.. we still couldn't save him..

RIP Don (donation drive)
Posted 2 years agoToday is a devastating day as one of my dearest friends passed away this morning. He was one of the kindest souls I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He has fought a long hard battle against CIDP, he was brave until the very end.. Rest in peace my dear friend, you are now free from all the pain and suffering this cruel world brought on to you..
Don, Stei, their families, and myself would like to thank everyone who has been a part of Don's fight. For all the commissions, donations, thoughts, and encouraging words, thank you.
For one last time I hope we can ask from the kindness of your hearts any donation you can afford.. we will be using the funds to get him out of the hospital and show him all the love we can as we say farewell. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer "thank you artworks" this time around but you will have our deepest sincerest gratitude.
For donations of any amount, please kindly send them to this paypal account and please if you can, include a comforting message.. thank you and God bless you.

Emergency Surgery Update
Posted 2 years agoI just got word that the surgery was a success! Thank you so much to everyone that helped, we really can't thank you enough. ^^ They found a different hospital with much lower fees and a doctor who gave us a discount, the funds accumulated were enough to pay for the surgery with some excess left over for medicine. Thank you all so much for all of your donations, commissions, prayers, and signal boosts.
Emergency Surgery Update
Posted 2 years agoThank you to everyone that sent donations. Because of your help we were able to accumulate half of the required amount. We found a hospital that agreed to accept a half down payment and a promissory note for the rest of the balance to be paid at a later date. However unfortunately but we couldn't get him an operation schedule yesterday or today. Tomorrow Stei will keep trying to find an available surgeon while I take care of online matters and try to accumulate more funds for Don's medicine and doctor's fee maybe possibly get him even a tiny government assistance. His oxygen levels continue to fluctuate, it breaks my heart to see him suffer so much.. The state I saw him in is the worst he has been.
Stei wants to thank everyone that sent donations through simple thank you artworks, but please do understand that it will take time. If you have sent or will send any donations and would like to receive a thank you art, kindly indicate your FA username in the PayPal note or simply send me a note here on FA stating your paypal email. I will get in touch when the situation gets better, thank you again.
If you could spare some money or time, please help us by donating, commissioning, signal boosting, or praying. Thank you so much.
For donations please kindly send it to PayPal: jercorgi[at]gmail.com

Emergency Surgery Please Donate
Posted 2 years agoHi this is their friend Nekchikyan writing this journal on behalf of the Steidonns. The male half of the artist couple Steidonn, urgently needs a surgery to replace his ventilator tube (ETT?). Due to ETT cuff (the ball looking thing that prevents air from escaping) leak the ventilator cannot properly assist his breathing, his oxygen level dropped. He has been paralyzed and dependent on the ventilator since August 2020 initially suspected to be due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) but diagnosis was later changed to Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP).
He's begging us to bring him to the hospital but they will not admit him if we don't have money since we still owe the hospital for his most recent procedure. We will be needing around $1,820 for the surgery please if you could help any amount we will appreciate from the bottom of our hearts.
If you have any extra please send it to this paypal account, thank you so much.

Commission for a Cause & Donation Pool
Posted 4 years ago(Journal written and posted by Nekchikyan)
Greetings to everyone reading this, thank you for giving us a bit of your time. I am writing this journal for my friend
Steidonn for the reason that they cannot speak English and they can't afford an internet connection while all of their money goes straight to medical expenses and basic necessities. The art account and artist name
Steidonn is shared by the lovers Stei and Donn, they were planning to get married last year but the tragedy happened. (Don is the paralyzed patient and Stei is the only artist creating art on their account at the moment)
Don has been sick since August 27, 2020 when his paralysis started due to an illness called Guillain-Barré Syndrome and they currently still owe the hospital 1,303,072.51 PHP or 26,061.45 USD which continues to rise due to ventilator rental cost. They get billed $300 monthly for the hospital debt but have been late on the payment for 2 months, 3 by the end of August. Recently the hospital has already issued a letter of warning that if they do not produce the down payment of at $900 by the end of this month and steadily produce $300 monthly after that, then they will sue the family. They have nothing to give as they've been bled dry long ago, if we can't pay them they might pull out the ventilator which is the only thing keeping him alive. I will tell you the story of how this came to be and at the bottom are some ways you can help.
Don started feeling weakness and intense cramping in his legs last year on August 27, 2020. Soon after he could no longer walk and the paralysis set in. At first it was only his legs but it steadily spread throughout the rest of his body. Unbeknownst to us the disease has been destroying his nerves, he was brought to the hospital where several tests were done on him and various trial and error medications until on October 20 he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). He was given the medication IVIG which costs $1,380 per dose and requires five consecutive doses. He was released of hospitalization after medication. It halted the spread of the illness for some time.
On November 28 he was once again hospitalized when the paralysis reached his hands. The doctor at that time had more doubts about the diagnosis and he was re-diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) hence they started giving him a different treatment with steroids but it seemed to only make it worse, so the diagnosis was once again corrected to GBS and another five doses of IVIG was given. The spread was halted for a while once again but no improvements have been seen at all.
January 26th was the day that he got to a critical condition, the paralysis has finally reached his lungs and diaphragm, he couldn't breathe. It was an emergency but the public hospitals were all full due to covid, the only option left was to rush him to the nearest available private hospital with vacancy even though it would result to a lifetime worth of debt they had to save his life. There he was hooked to a ventilator, it was clear that the possibility of recovery was slim to none. He had to stay hospitalized to stay alive. Bedridden. While staying in the hospital he even acquired hospital pneumonia, not once but twice which further inflated the bill. At this point the hospital has already decided to close his account and refused to provide further treatment and medication without a payment first basis. But aside from refusing to provide treatment they also refused to release and transfer the patient to a public hospital until the bill was settled. However to prevent a third potentially fatal hospital pneumonia, they had to operate on him and create a hole on his neck, via tracheostomy, where the mechanical ventilator and feeding tubes would go through. Luckily a kind doctor gave us a huge discount for the procedure, the same doctor also helped us re-open his billing account and the treatment resumed. After a while the hospital lawyer was once again harassing the family, until they came to an agreement to release the patient, transport him home, and recommend him to hospice care.
On May 30 he was sent home, and until now there has been no change in his condition. With the help of government aid we reduced the bill as much as we can but the hospitalization from January 26 to May 30 left them with a debt of $22,332.62 which they have been paying down payments of $300 monthly but continues to rise still with the ventilator rental that costs $360 monthly. With a current balance of $26,061.45, for the third month in a row now they have only been able to give a minimal amount to keep the ventilator on him but don't have enough for the monthly billing. The warning letter from the hospital about the family getting sued (Notice of Dishonor) was received last July 31, but his father hid it from us until recently because he was ashamed of their family being a burden.. but we would never think of them that way.
Thank you so much for reading and helping, we are hoping we could somehow reach the $900 goal on July 31 and $300 monthly until the entire debt has been paid off to keep his father from getting sued and having his ventilator pulled out. Aside from the ventilator and hospital debt, listed below are his other monthly expenses. Stei's family have been shouldering most of the expenses before but now they have completely nothing left.
Monthly medical expenses-
Hospital Debt Down Payment $300
Ventilator Rental $360 (Minimum down payment $100)
Oxygen $279
IVIG $1,380 x 5 = $6,910
NGT Feeding Formula $533.64
