Generally speaking, people tend to have a 'defining image' that comes to mind when they think of a particular artist. Maybe it's one you can relate to, maybe it's the image that first introduced you to their work, maybe you just feel it was their absolute best, so it sticks out in your mind. So when ever you think of a certain artist, this image pops to mind.

I don't do individual favourites anymore for various reasons, but since the OC (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1005799/) and my scrap of my part of it (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1005827/) got a fair number of favourites between them, I'd just like to say thank you very much. My new power supply arrived on time, so I'm back up and running. I had a worrying bit of trouble on first attempt to start, but that's gone now and hopefully won't return.

I've lost count of the amount of times my computer has failed. Let's see... last time was the video card, I believe. Now it's the power supply. Luckily, it's only Tuesday evening, so maybe I'll be able to get a replacement shipped in before the weekend. Unfortunately, all the shops around here sell pretty average consumer parts, nothing like the 800W PSU I need as a bare minimum. < u.u >
Maybe if I stopped buying bleeding edge gear, I'd stop getting cut... Oh well. Wish me luck.

Just a quick note here, about my last journal. Thanks for all the responses, but hm... I think a lot of people missed my point, such that it was. I like thought out comments more than favourites, it's true, but I wasn't complaining about people who just favourite and don't comment.
Nor was I actually complaining about people who favourite something and then proceed to favourite enough other stuff that the first picture is pushed onto the second or later pages of their favourites gallery, within 24 hours. Annoying as that can be, I can appreciate that people use favourites differently.
All the last journal really was for, was a rant against one nameless individual who favourited some of my stuff and then more than 151 pages work of other stuff, within 6 hours.
As with most rants, it was driven by a lack of sleep, and it doesn't bother me so much anymore. < ^.^;>

Eh, I don't usually rant, but this topic is something that annoys me, so here's a minirant.

Favouriting. I think every artist has a gripe with people who favourite without leaving comments. After all, if you don't like it enough to say something about it, is it really your favourite? I try not to complain about the practise however, since I know I'm guilty of it myself. Sometimes I really like a picture but can't think of anything to say. I try to avoid it, but sometimes it does happen.

Still, I try to be sensible with favourites, trying to limit myself to at most 2 a day, and usually not from the same person's gallary. I do this because I know -- as someone who produces the odd picture -- how... what's the word... futile? it feels when you receive a favourite, and when you check their page it's no longer visible on their front page. That's understandable, of course. Not everyone limits themselves like me. But I do think it's rude if you favourite an image and push it out of the top 12 favourites in 24 hours. Still, that's not as bad as it not being in the top 1812.

That's right. Today, I got a few favourites, and when I went to check out what else the guy had favourited, I found two things. 1) In 151 pages of favourites, there was nothing from my gallery. At 12 images a page, that's more than 1812 images he'd favourited since favouriting mine, which couldn't have been more than 6 hours ago. 2) He was still going! Every page I turned, there'd be one or two pictures from the last page on the next page. This means he was still adding favourites, and images were being pushed back onto later pages.

WHAT. THE. HELL??? That's just insane. < o_@;> Don't favourite everything in an artist's gallery, it just makes you look like a moron, and doesn't endear you to them anywhere near as much as one or two favourites and a comment longer than 6 words.

Mm, I'm a year older now. Not too happy about that, but bleh, it's my birthday, so I'm celebrating!
My friends and family got me clothes, books (Silverthorn by Raymond E. Feist, Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card, and the first Tsubasa manga), and a CD of E.S. Posthumus. < ^.^ > And I bought myself C&C3. We went to see the new Bean film, and played the tank game in WiiPlay for ages.

I've had a Wii for a while now, and have just recently put the thing to some /real/ use.
That is to say, I've got the Wiimote working as a mouse (plus a few keys) for my GNU/Linux box. < ^.^ >

For those who know about these things, I'm using a modified version of wminput from the CWiid package. A small Ruby script that I wrote waits for a Wiimote, displays a notification using my custom OSD system for X, runs wminput (which I modified to die when the Wiimote is powered off), displays a notification of disconnection and then returns to waiting for a Wiimote. I'm quite proud of it. < n.n >

The machine I have all this set up on is primarily an entertainment unit. I use MythTV as a frontend for Mplayer, and will likely soon set up the TV watching/recording part. My question is... does anyone have a suggestion for a nice, mouse-friendly alternative to MythTV or a nice, mouse-friendly theme for MythTV I could use?

I honestly wasn't expecting PNG transparency to fail in FA avatars. Honestly, I'm not sure how I could intentionally mess that up if I wanted to. Perhaps it's some kind of hack so Firefox looks broken like IE does?

EDIT: I've known this a while, but figured I should point it out. Seems FA converts avatars to GIFs for whatever reason. I don't see why, myself. I mean, they host a huge amount of artwork, some of which is very large. What harm can leaving avatars in their original format do?

So I checked out SecondLife recently, albeit briefly. It looks interesting, but seems to run very poorly on my machine. That might be due to my faulty graphics card (waiting for the new one to be delivered), but Guild Wars still plays fine, so I don't know.

I'm a bit lost though, and sick of wandering around as a human. So I might try and hook up with the people who offered help in my last journal.

So I've been thinking, vaguely, of checking out SecondLife, imvu, or something like it. Does anyone have any suggestions for which to try? Or better yet, anything I need to know about trying one of them?

Ideally, I'd like to make Stelard. I doubt I'd have the time or inclination to make anything more, so I wouldn't need any land. Or would I? These are the things I'd like to know. < ^.^ >
