𓃹 I have a Telegram feed now 𓃹
General | Posted 9 months agoHey folks. Forgot to update y'all here to say that I finally have a telegram feed.
It is not cultivated for sharability or mass appeal, because I hate social media so much. I just want a feed of whatever I want, without worrying about getting you all to like me more or give me money. The feed already includes SFW to spoilered NSFW, and some fetish stuff of varying levels (though anything more edgy will be spoilered), WIPs, interviews, maybe some political updates (the kind about being helpful, not about wasting your already limited energy).
If you wanna follow, here ya go!

SasharJones,
everruler, and I will be dealing at Biggest Little Fur Con 2021. We're excited to do our second convention since the Before Times, especially with new originals from us all.I'll be offering new playmats and mousepads. AND some old favourites were revisited with a fresh coat of paint for prints, playmats, and mousepads. Maps aren't online yet, but I do know I'll be at tables 97-98. You can always look for our overhead lighting setup and grey Pro Panels to find us in the Dealer's Den in a pinch.
---
Also, don't forget to check out the art show! We'll all have some good stuff in there, including an adult art panel from yours truly (somehow)!
---
And finally, we are giving a talk!
Why Do We Care About The Furry Fandom?
Saturday 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Teton room
Personal expression, self esteem, found family, and more! In this illustrated talk, we explore why the fandom is so compelling, how we can use it to more deeply engage with ourselves and others, and how to best share these incredible things with those outside the fandom.
Come early for a good seat!
Safe travels for those coming along,

Convention Cancellation Art Sale
General | Posted 5 years agoHey FA followers.
Just a quick update on our situation as we continue to work through the postponement of upcoming conventions, given that cons are our main source of income.
So far we are only directly affected by BLFC’s being pushed back to the end of October, but even at 2-3 months away, Anthrocon is still in question. Even if it isn’t cancelled or postponed, we have no idea how attendance or sales will be impacted, so we have to scramble to try and shore up enough income to last us through many months.
You might have already seen my post about the KIDPIX Commissions being offered. These have been a blast, and has already helped us to get a great head start on our goal of recovering what we would have made at BLFC in a normal year.
If KIDPIX isn’t your style—can't relate, but that's fine—Sasha and I are also running big sales on our sites! He’s been hard at work giving my website a major overhaul with a new Artwork directory on-site, and now has put together some really great deals on art offerings. Everything in the store is marked down, plus we’ve added in some speciality prints that are normally convention exclusives, given the unusual circumstances of the moment.
On top of that, we’re offering Free Shipping for the first time ever on orders over $60 when you use SHIP60 at check out.
Between the Kid Pix Commissions, the Sale, and the generosity of a couple of friends who donated to us without our asking, we’re already halfway to our initial goal! But we’ve still got a ways to go, and every little bit helps.
I do want to emphasize: first and foremost, no one is under an obligation to help us specifically out. We greatly appreciate any help that can be extended, and it always goes a long way. But these are strange times, and we encourage you to take care of your own needs first.
And, hey-- if you’re in quarantine (we’re practicing social distancing ourselves), feel free to come by the streams and socialize with us! We’d be glad to have you along and maybe it’ll make your days at home a little bit easier.
Thank you again to everyone for your continued support-- it means the world to us and makes everything we do possible.
Talk to you soon,
-J

Confuror 2019 Report
General | Posted 6 years agoMy friends, I just realized that I mentioned how great Confuror was on my Patreon and in my stream, but it didn't get highlighted here in an FA journal. I wanted to make sure to do so now.
Confuror is a new convention taking place in Guadalajara. Azul, a lovely furry I met at Anthrocon several years ago. He mentioned wanting to take the joy and energy of Anthrocon to his home in Mexico. As someone with few ties to Mexico, and having never visited, I supported him from a distance, and assumed it'd be something I wouldn't ever see.
Fast forward to 2018, he and his friends started Confuror, and later that year he asked Sasha and I if we'd be interested in being Featured Artists. It's basically a Guest of Honor status without being a headliner. We got to practicing our Spanish (we both had virtually no experience whatsoever), planned signage for the convention, started talking about the convention every chance we got. We were initially planning on driving the 20 hours from Santa Fe to Guadalajara, with our full dealer setup, but flying last minute ended up being a much better choice.
Our steward liked my hairpoop and bandana enough to give us 6 little bottles of Vodka. "So this is what Mexico is like," I thought, realizing we received the complementary alcohol not long after crossing the border. Customs was relaxed (compared to some of my bad American experiences, where my appearance normally gets me profiled). and Azul made sure he was able to give us a ride from the airport.
This was the first time in my life the economy was in my favor, when it came to expenses of things like food or transportation. You get a bit of a difference in Berlin, but it's not at all like Mexico. There was this freedom that came with knowing we would have enough money for food, which is an unusual freedom to have during our travels. The downside of this is selling merchandise in an economy that can't support your normal prices. After cutting our prices by 30% we were still far more expensive than most convention patrons could afford. Thankfully, we were told to expect this, so we banked on it being a relational, cultural experience that could possibly be once in a lifetime. It would turn out that we would just barely make our expenses. This was especially helped by the convention being able to cover our hotel room, as a nice last minute surprise!
The decorations for the convention was nice. It took a bit for me to get used to navigating the hotel (my dyscalculia kills my spacial reasoning), but signage was beautiful and clear, and also brimming with personality! I was also impressed by the Dealer's Den layout. I didn't get to give the Artist Alley the attention it deserved, but I walked through it to get to Main Stage and was very happy with that layout, as well.
Sasha and I gave two panels, and for both the A/V crew were some of the best equipped and most professional of any furry convention. All staff and volunteers seemed to be friendlier than the average. In fact, there was an energy in the entire convention space, but I can't tell how much of it is from a very young furry culture experiencing cons for the first time, or just the amicable qualities of pairing Latin American social rhythms with furry. Whatever the case, I felt lucky to experience it in a few ways:
- Signatures / Autographs were a big deal. We drew dozens on the blank pages of the con book.
- People gave, and often! People were so touched that we made it to the con.
- We were invited to a drink and draw, but I just drank! It was a nice, exclusive little dig after giving our first talk.
- They threw a practice wedding ceremony for Sasha and I after Dealer's Den ended. I wore the veil, Sasha wore the top hat, and a hula hoop united us. We then danced until I was very tired.
- One artist said they had been following me for over a decade, stood in as my mom at the wedding, gave me a cloth bag with her art on it, and later bought me Chilaquiles after I was very drunk on the Tequila that staff excitedly poured for me.
-We received multiple t-shirts, candy, prints, toys, and stickers. SO many stickers. Damn, Mexicans love stickers. I love them too now. I'm not coming back to Confuror without loads of stickers to share!
-Got to table across from Jeremy Bernal. After seeing his art since childhood, I can confirm that he's a real human being and not a kind of ethereal furry porn printer. Very nice fella.
-We got to connect with Ed, one of our stream regulars, throughout the con, and all the way to our flight.
-The trans meet-up was so... optimistic. It had a compelling tone to it. Even with my limited Spanish comprehension, I felt grateful to sit in for some of it.
-The two panels Sasha and I gave were received very well. People sad/happy/hopeful/it's-complicated cried at both panels, which is our ideal. And at our main stage talk we had a professional translator, Alph, provided by the convention to ensure our words were as accessible as possible.
This was the first time Confuror was in this particular hotel, and the staff had a lot of last-minute work to do to make sure it was up and running smoothly. They gave so much of their hearts to bring a furry con to Guadalajara, and it shows. You could feel it in every moment. It's with this in mind that I pray all of Mexico's furry conventions grow and sustain a population that deserves such an atmosphere. Confuror, thank you for being amazing. I hope all my favourite American furries get to see what you have in person, and with any luck Sasha and I will see you next year. You charmed your way to the top of my list of favourite furry conventions. <3

Back from EF 2019! And other news
General | Posted 6 years agoHey, friends. It's good to update you here. Here's what's happened since the last journal.
- Sasha and I started hosting a friend who needed a place to stay, stuck between US and EU. She also lived in Switzerland, so we have a lot to bond over. We also stayed a couple nights in Nantes with the generous Zelephas and husband Loic. I am resolved to study more French, too!
- We went to Eurofurence 25, and it was the best one yet. My German was horrible, but it was the best it's been, and that's neat! My favourite compliment was someone assuming I was Dutch, because my accent was excellent but my grammar was complete shit.
- The garden is growing. Currently, we have more spinach and kale than we can eat! And we're enjoying eggplant season now. Unlike FA, eggplant season in our garden is only a few months in the space between summer and autumn.
- I've continues to go new places with my art and my posts on Patreon. Some of those are public, so please do follow the Patreon for some nice freebies, and donate if you wanna help me do more work like that.
- We're running a sale on the website to raise money for a new PC build. (I've only ever owned laptops, you see.), full of art only seen before on Patreon and at conventions. This includes traditional art, where I keep experimenting with graphite.
- I have a new monkey fursona! His reception has been quite warm. If you're curious about his design, I hope you'll enjoy this free post on my Patreon offering all the details.
- We updated the schedule on the Twitch stream. I now stream no more than 32 hours a week, instead of the previous 50. Automatically seeing better returns. We'd love it if you hung out there and said hi!
- Sasha and I have dedicated to going to a coffee house once a week to get in at least several hours of writing. As more and more people have started commenting at cons that my writing means something to them, I guess I now count as a writer! I want to do at least one free post a month on the Patreon to not only encourage growth, but to force myself to get into writing all the nebulous shit swimming around in my head.
- Thanks to our convention sales, we paid off one big credit card, and switched this year to automatic payments on my university loans. We may be debt free in 2020.
- We will be Guests of Honor at Confuror, the furry con in Guadalajara, Mexico. But first, we're off to Gender Unbound and IlluXCon.
- I'm regularly doing barefoot walking to progress my minimalist shoe game and tweak my biology towards a new goal. You'll see an art piece + journal entry on that later.
---
That's all I can think of now! If you're checking up on me in this journal, thank you for caring. I hope it found you well.
Love,
-J

STIGMATA WILL BE AT EUROFURENCE 2019!
General | Posted 6 years agoThat's right! I'll be at EF2019. Here's the skinny:
We're giving a talk on Friday at 10PM! Info here
We're dealing in the Dealer's Den! Info here too
- I'll be staying in an AirBnb about a 20 minute walk away with Sasharjones
- I'm fine with hugs!
- I love learning about and helping people, but I don't really do small-talk. You owe me nothing but your true self.
- I am absolutely fine with drinks
- I will be dealing with jetlag but will do my best
- If you're a mutual w/an Estrel room, you may be able to help us! Sasha and I normally nap to survive working convention days and planning our talk, and that's not easy to do without a room in the Estrel. If you think you can help us, I'm easy to find on Telegram.
- I have facial blindness. If you are wearing a hat, or your hair is different, or even if we had a meaningful interaction last year, it's very possible I won't recall you based on physical appearances alone.
EF is my favourite convention because of the diverse cultures that come together under one roof, all united by the visual communication of a fursona. I would be happy to have you as part of my convention experience, and hope to see you then!

STIGMATA WILL BE AT ANTHROCON 2019!

I'll also be giving talks on Friday and Saturday night in the DLCC panel rooms. I'd be honoured if you made it out there.

The furry fandom started as a haven for weirdos and outcasts, so what is this group now? When should furries stand against change, and when should they collaborate outside of their group?

Featuring Absolome, my nerdy friend!
In this talk, we'll be discussing dominant demographics of the furry fandom. Why do they skew towards queer, and what qualities of cis-gay/lesbian culture have Absolome noticed in his online interactions?
Idunno. But we're gonna find out!
FAQ:
Q: Will it be recorded?
A: Yup! Click that link
Q: …I don't have any more questions?

Hey friends! Please say hello to me in the Dealer's Den if you're interested in some nice designs. Here are some things I'll be selling:
-BEOKAY: The Dark Art of Self Therapy image archive
-My traditional black-on-black-on-black drawings
-High quality, ethically produced apparel of my own design
-Take home digital commissions
-Never-before-seen glossy prints
-Metallic Prints
-Canvas Prints
Giving a talk: Is Your Furry Art Stale?!!!
Saturday, 10PM-11:30PM, Hartsfield Room
https://sched.co/HinA
For professionals and hobbyist artists and furry fans alike! Sasha and I will be sharing the best things we've discovered about the furry fandom, how it's in a unique position to do amazing things, and how you can avoid some common pitfalls on the way to better art by sharing some of our own experiences. Q&A starts halfway through.
Set an alarm on your phone and please come at least 10 minutes early! These talks fill up and you wouldn't want to be without a seat.
These conventions are exhausting for us to do, and we'll be driving in from Santa Fe, so forgive us in advance if our hangout time doesn't constitute what we'd like. I'd love to do some hanging out when we aren't working! Just keep in mind our hotel is a 25 minute drive out of town. <3

Exciting updates!
General | Posted 7 years agoHey folks! Checking in since this journal was in sore needing of an update.
Eurofurence was a success! Both talks went incredibly well, though sadly we lacked the means to record them well.
We raised money to cover Sasha's surgery and some extra to cover down-time, but it turned out that wasn't enough to meet some surprise expenses. Ah well, we scraped by with some love and support from other people who placed orders and from the generosity of Sasha's amazing family.
Inktober is still in the works! Though it's not as regular as I'd like it to be. More updates soon.
Sasha and I just came back from IlluXCon, the unofficial family reunion for fantastic realism artists and illustrators, and gave a talk on the merits of the furry fandom and this unlicensed therapy thing I do. It went very well!
We're now back home after over two weeks of being away. Just finished all my necessary cooking for the next few days, and am almost recovered from altitude sickness, so I'm looking forward to streaming full-time again. Been missing y'all.
And finally, there are more updates I can't share quite yet. Let's just say I have a lot to keep myself busy for next year, already.
To end this journal, I have a question for you: when was a time someone touched you with their generosity?

Ropey white dude with buggy eyes and a bandana over his big forehead

If we have the time to hang out in the artist alley, I don't see why not!

Yes, please!

In forms of vegetarian food or snacks would be preferred. I try not to gain material possessions.
Are you nice?
Nobody can stop me from doing nice things.
Do you have an artist table?
I do! Check my submissions for a map
Will you be going to parties?
Honestly, I'll probably be too jetlagged. I like low-key interactions best. C:
Will you be performing?
No. I'll try to be in the real zone as much as possible.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
I answer to Jonathan, Stigmata, Stig, Jon, and Sandy, in that order.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Artist Alley, planning for my talks, and recharging somewhere!
What/where will you be eating?
Somewhere vegetarian/vegan. I'll see you there!
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Situational, my friend. But if I turn you down, I'll tell you exactly why I have to.

Jonathan Vair Duncan / Stigmata is now open for Commissions!
General | Posted 7 years agoThose STIGSKETCH and ILLUSTRATION submissions you see in my FA gallery can feature your ideas! Check out my website for pricing and details.
For the illustrated version, head to my official website.
| COMMISSION DETAILS |
- All digital, completed in Alchemy + Photoshop
- Increments of 60USD, starting at 180USD
(60USD = 1 STIGSKETCH SLOT)
- Streaming available and likely!
- Progress shots available after +500USD

These prices are just estimates. But as a rule of thumb, avoiding clothes and keeping to simpler+abstract ideas will save you money:
(3 STIGSKETCH Slots for 180USD, Tight crop on body, minimal BG)
(4-5 STIGSKETCH slots, 240-300USD. Single character, some BG)
(8-9 STIGSKETCH slots, 480-540USD, Partial but crisply detailed body, more detailed BG)
(Custom print options available from this point, including playmats!)

(Progress shots available at this budget)
(ILLUSTRATION, +1200USD, priced individually or paid as we go, full body and scene)
| APPLYING FOR A COMMISSION |
Email: jonathanvair[at]gmail.com
Subject: 2018 Summer Commissions
Please prepare a reference email by addressing the following points:
1) Send (link or otherwise) character reference images, including good animal photos. If your character's design is an exotic or a hybrid but relates to real animals, please include these photographs as they help me confirm your intentions.
2) Tell me your relation to the character. If they're basically just you, that means I need to at least know you on a basic level to do your fursona justice. If the idea is complex, expect a conversation on it!
3) Tell me the most you're willing to spend on a commission. (No lower than 180USD, please)
4) Now that you've told me what you want, what do you need right now? Answer that however you'd like.
Thanks! I know this is a bit of effort, but whether or not we work together, most artists you commission will really appreciate having this ready in advance!
And finally, here's the Terms of Service you agree to upon commissioning me.
Talk to you soon, I hope,
-J
