Midwest Fur Fest
It's with much disappointment that I'm canceling my plans to attend MFF. I expressed earlier that it was going to be a financial burden on me this year, and I was humbled by the friends who stepped up to the plate to offer me assistance. You are all a blessing to me, and much more than I deserve. While working at home, I'll be warmed by the memories of you guys offering me assistance.
Real Life Update
A little over a week ago, at about 6h15, my wife was driving her car down an old country road when she lost control of steering and slammed several times into guard rails. I'm thankful she was safe, but our [only] car was rendered worthless. After a week of renting, and her being unable to work, we financed a Volkswagon Jetta from a used car dealership. This is the main reason why MFF won't be in my plans this year.
Why I Do Furry Art
It has taken me over six years of commissions from you fine folks before I finally hit my artistic stride. The more work I produce, the more commissions I receive. I've been given a unique opportunity to serve people through freelancing, as only a handful of people in the world sustain on this model. Half of it is what I chose for myself, while the other half is that my clients consistently choose me. In working these furry commissions, we're not working on fanart. We're not selling anything. We're not plugging into a commercial system that manipulates others for selfish gain. We're creating characters that represent pieces of who each of us is. This is as fine art as it gets, folks. Because I love art and I love learning about people, I'm convinced this is the greatest job I could ever hope for.
In Closing
2014 has been the hardest year of my life. I've learned more about myself this year than ever before. This also is the first year I focused on personal work—some anthro, some not—but that's for a later journal. I told myself that I will no longer hold back anything about my beliefs. I will discuss anything I learned through my personal experiences. Get ready for some weird ideas, get ready for some collabs and trades with some great artists, and get ready for some of the best work I've ever created!

It's true. Her work is a wonderful fusion of illustration and graphic design. She recently gave a talk at the School of Advertising Art about her time in college, her lack of direction in life, and how she stumbled into the prolific career she has today. it's full of a lot of bad art and self-deprecating humour, and you know I'm all about that!
I followed her to college, studied into her major (because she just knew I wanted illustration), and eventually it was she who helped me assimilate into a new city, independent of my parents. I owe a lot of my growth as an artist and as a person to Danielle. After seeing this lecture, you'll probably see how.

AC2014 Recap

Thanks to all the people who shared their lives with me today, be it in forms of conversation, attention, or commission. Clients, I will send out my emails tomorrow to confirm your purchases.
The "Try Harder!" Panel was a huge success! Thank you for filling a room to hear my ramblings on life and furry art. I'm so glad to hear some of you are positively changed for the better.
I used to leave in-depth recaps in my FA journals, but I don't think I can this time around. When I consider sharing everything I experienced at AC2014, I get overwhelmed. So many highs and lows. Anthrocon is usually the most high-stress convention I attend, but never before had it been this polarizing. About half the convention was spent fighting a deep sense of sorrow, while the other half was being entertained and encouraged by others. A set of surreal circumstances were always in place to bring me back to my senses, no matter what day it was that I spent wandering around alone with my thoughts.
If you're reading this and wondering if I'll mention you and our interactions by name, I'm sorry I can't do that for you here. What I can do is say that I sincerely love you. You are a part of me. To those of you that shared words with me, thank you for not only contributing to my convention experience but also to who I am as an individual.
It is now time for me to be alone. I will return to my next convention more ready to serve you than ever before.

I'm branching out to more furry stuffs. I'm staying active-ish on Weasyl, but as activity is dwindling there, I have more time to cross post. "Stigmata" was taken, but Toumal was kind-enough to put the account under my name. Great thanks and praises unto the orca, and ever praises.

It's no secret that doing commissions in the fandom is, in my opinion, one of the greatest jobs an artist could ever ask for. It's for this reason I point artists here if I trust their caliber of work, their professionalism, and their tastes. Vis-à-vis,, one of my friends is looking to pick up some anthro subjects. Anyone with a love for abstracted art and strong warriors, armour, etc… will be delighted by the moods his work conveys. He's one of my kindred spirits, and is a profoundly old soul despite his young age. Keep this kid on your radar, because he is kind, brilliant, and curious.
