Social Media and updates
Posted 4 years agoMy kiddo is finally in school full time which means a lot more space for fun art!
I've been doing fine art and illustration professionally in the gap between my last postings and now, but I miss doing things for fun ^.^ I had my first residency in January and it went well! I'll go through and post some of my favorites here.
If you want to keep in touch am most active on social media at:
facebook: facebook.com/stormslegacy
Instagram: instagram.com/stormslegacydesigns
I'm currently working on a project called Monster Ambulance RPG, a tabletop game where players take the roles of an ambulance team (EMT, paramedic, displatcher, driver etc.) and serve a city brimming with monster/human combinations. I've also been busy with critter surface designs which I put onto fabric, totebags and other merch.
I am not currently available for commission aside from ones where you pick a species and I choose the deets.

Tiny paws 2018!
Posted 7 years agoJust got back from Connecticut, and man, it was AWESOME.
I love the folks that run Tinypaws, it's truly a great experience. It's small but super friendly, and I made a lot of great friends. I did alright saleswise, turned a profit! I plan to be back next year <3
My husband
Atraties did security. he did an awesome job handling an incident with Muggles, and I'm really proud of him.
I made new friends and saw some old ones too. it was lovely sitting in the Zoo to work with
Cadmiumtea
Stripedshire and
~ShadraAvro. Did some fun sketches for folks that I wish I took photos of! Next year I hope that we can get a nice group going so that it's a party in the zoo ^_^ I bought a few badges from
Airraiser and love them <3
Someone introduced me to Telegram, I wish I knew sooner! I'm on there at Stormslegacy.
My next convention is Furpocalypse, and I'll probably be in the Artist Alley of ANE if I don't get in as a dealer again.

I'll be posting a lot fo my process, for watercolors, digital, even some sculpting if people are interested. Patrons have some say in what I'll be sketching and upper teirs include a livestream and even some personal feedback on your own art if you need!

Tiny Paws Expo scoop =)
Posted 8 years agoTiny Paws Expo was a lot of fun! It was everything I missed about FurFright, the potential is very high. I wouldn't travel far to get to it as a dealer--there was not enough customers to support the awesomeness that was the dealer space, but I love the hours and the casual nature.
I got to sit in the zoo and do badge trades which is something I haven't gotten to do in years =)
Met really cool folks, and saw some of my favorite furry peeps, sold some gryphs and art. It was a great welcome back to the furry community after my absence! I can't wait to take my daughter to future conventions, it was great chatting with other furry parents of toddlers =D
Can't wait for next year!
I did a full post with photos here: http://www.stormslegacy.com/tiny-pa.....ntion-display/

Carpal Tunnel cures and creature design
Posted 8 years agoSo it turns out that the pain I've been wrestling with for years was not chronic tendinitis as I was originally told, but Carpal Tunnel and it turns out that it's 100% treatable <3 I got cortisone shots and man am I feeling great. We will be doing surgery later this year.
My work is exploding now that the pain is gone, it's so awesome to finally put a lot of the moving parts of study into motion!
I'm currently in a creature design class through Schoolism.com, really enjoying to work. I look forward to posting more of my designs here! I'd love to do real creature design someday.

So i have no idea how I forgot to mention....
Posted 9 years agoI made a person! A whole live person! He's now 18 months and the reason I was away for so long XD
He's an utter delight and loves animals as much as I do <3
I'd post pics but I feel weird doing so here.
I'm starting to really get into art now that I've found my mama groove so I hope to be around a lot more <3

Opening commissions: first two slots 30% off
Posted 10 years agoSo, I am opening commissions since my baby has hit 4 months old and I'm finally in a position where I feel comfortable taking on new work. It's been a little while, so I thought I'd open the list with a little discount.
So, I am opening my list for several character commissions. They can be digital or watercolor. Digital will have a gradient background that suits the character, a drop shadow and some lighting. A print-quality file will be provided. Watercolor is on a wash background, 9X12 inches. I can do up to three characters and adult work is welcome--we can talk on a case by case basis for more risque fetish work. Five slots, to keep the work manageable. I'm currently unemployed so they should be done very quickly, two weeks for the later slots. I ship once a week on tuesdays.
Feral, anthro, human, other, all are welcome. I can do any species.
The first two slots are 30% off. My normal price starts at $50 for one character. second character is +$35, third is +$25. Shipping is optional if you want the original watercolor, $5.00 (international case by case.) Most are fine but there will be extra surcharge for super-complicated designs or detailed wings.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
I am also offering sketch commissions. again, the first two slots will be discounted 30%. Sketches are $15 for one character, $25 for two, $35 for three. Can be pencil or digital.

2.
3.
4.
5.
Payment is up-front through paypal.

Dino Eggs...I mean CHICKENS!!! <3
Posted 11 years agoAs part of our wedding present, friends of ours raised us some Cinnamon Queen chickens while we got our coop improved since a weasel took my last batch.
W also had another friend give us some Black Australorps and a Rhode Island Red, as well as an Easter Egger rooster that was pretending to be a girl.
I am so excited to have a flock again! Unlike our first flock, these are already laying so we are getting 4+ eggs a day! Our first chickens were slow starters so we were getting 2 a week from one Easter Egger. I'm excited that within one generation I may be producing green eggs again! The black ones are so pretty, with beetle-black plumes. I look forward to doing crafts with them.
We're finding they are producing faster than we can eat! Clearly, I must bake more.

Life Post-Layoff
Posted 11 years agoSo now I'm a week and a half into my layoff. It's been good to get the house cleaner, with the long commute, sharing a car, and
Atraties working two jobs it had gotten a little out of control. I'm still fairly mobile so with the help of a friend we got several rooms in much better condition. I expect after this week which has me pretty busy I'll be posting pretty frequently.
Financially I still have one more check since it was offset, so we haven't been hit yet with the real stress. I've been lucky and here has been a market for my artwork lately too, which has helped. Given the time to sort out my things...I feel more like myself than I have in years. I think the bustle of the commute, job, homestead and holding things together was too much, especially with the added tiredness from pregnancy. I hope that I can get a few more personal projects in before the Big Event. The little Critter is healthy and doing well. *knock on wood*
If you are curious about the nitty gritty of the farm part of my life, my husband
atraties has been keeping up the Hillside Homestead blog again after our couple month hiatus earlier this year:

Zazzle =D
Posted 11 years agoSince I've been laid off from my job, I've been trying to set up other sources of income for when the baby comes next month. I've really come to like Zazzle's system!
You can now get my art on anything from iPhone cases and iPad smart covers to cheese boards and throw pillows. I'm slowly putting some of my favorites up there, still working on the file for Firewolf and Dissolution wolf!
http://www.zazzle.com/stormslegacy?.....99753354104149
I would recommend them to other artists, I've already made a couple sales and since you set your own royalty it's not as bad as some other, similar sites. They also give you "referrals" for sharing your own store, so you can earn an additional amount if a sale is from someone clicking your store link!

So life happened...
Posted 11 years agoI have so much that happened in the past months, it's not even funny...got married, husband got a new job...oh and I'm pregnant! Due in mid-late October =D It's a boy.
Basically, everything has been topsy turvy, I can't tell which way is up!
Unfortunately, I was also laid off from my job, my last day is Thursday. This is awful for finances but...I plan to be on a lot more until the baby comes. I'll be selling off originals and taking on all sorts of commissions for this next month only, and by October I plan to only take on a couple a week since we don't know when baby will come.
Saturdays will be shipping day, and since I will now have time to breathe that should keep things smooth sailing. I have a few pet portraits from the last convention to finish up and mail this week before I open up formally.
I intend to do half commission work, half personal work. Expect to see some more additions to my Werewolves of Creation series before September is through!

Posted 11 years agoI'm giving EBay a try as a venue for the giant pile of ACEOs I have, I'd like to downsize and renew my stock for next convention, feel more fresh. Each is an original piece of art, the size of a trading card and shipped in a hard plastic sleeve/toploader.

Weasyl Account
Posted 11 years agoI have too many friends here to leave FA but I did make an account at Weasyl. I really like their interface.
https://www.weasyl.com/~stormslegacy
I plan to continue to upload to both but due to their folder options I imagine more of my WIPs will end up over there since I can filter them into their own folder.

Raising Prices
Posted 12 years agoSince I've gotten significantly better in the past two years as an artist, I am giving myself a raise. My previous prices started at $35 for a single character in color or a pet portrait, I will be raising them both to $45 starting cost.
If you were thinking about commissioning me for a pet portrait, I will still accept commissions for the rest of this week based upon the old price-structure. I can do any species, and while I prefer to work from multiple photos I can do even from a description. You can find numerous examples of my pet-portrait work in my gallery or in my portfolio at www.stormslegacy.com
Note me here or email mvigeant86 AT gmail DOT com if interested.

Freebies!
Posted 12 years agoI'm doing a few freebie sketches, possibly a colored picture if I have the time, as part of my holiday tradition. filling out the form is not a guarantee, but I will do my best.
The form to post:
Link to character ref (up to two):
Species and gender, if not on ref:
Generic winter? XMas? Solstice?:
Pin-up sexy ok?:
Personality in one sentence, and relationship if two characters:
I feel I shouldn't have to say this but: edits aren't allowed on freebies. These are for fun, not commissions.

Just heard about FurFright ending...
Posted 12 years agohttp://furfright.livejournal.com/495312.html
I'm so sad about that. No real words. It's the one event I wouldn't miss for the world, my very favorite convention. Come hell or high water.
I don't even know what to think. I just hope everything is OK with K'Gra and Belic.

Looking Forward to Furfright and other updates
Posted 12 years agoLooking forward to FF? I am! I managed to snag a table again this year! You can find me next to
Blitzava and across the row from
HopefulMonsterStudios
I will have a number of new prints of the paintings I've been doing! These are from a new source and boy am I happy with the quality! I will also have painted shoes, ACEOs and kanji pendants.
If anyone is interested in preorders I'm happy to take a couple. You would be able to pick them up from my table Friday. Any badges listed in my offered commissions are available. I will even allow for a pinata badge.
In other updates, still chugging along. Things are a little tight but bit by bit we're getting to a better place =) This winter we are much more prepared for life in the hills! Our rabbits and other critters have been doing well and we've been getting to know our local community better. When our car broke down early in the summer, we were very blessed to have friends who each loaned us a vehicle in turn until we were able to get a new one a week ago. I have no idea how we could possibly have made it through without them, given our isolation and long commute. In my free time, I've still been studying and I hope it reflects in my work. I've started really learning lighting and composition and hope to experiment with those two things the next few paintings.
Sometime after FF I will be opening up for a couple freebie character slots. One will be open to all, the other two will only be available to previous commissioners. These will be holiday or winter themed. I will open a journal when I am doing them, and they will be a random draw. You will be able to comment then =)

I need some badge volunteers, offering a $15 discount
Posted 12 years agoI want to try doing a new badge-type for Furfright, but want to get started ahead of time on the examples. The final badge price will probably be around $55, I am offering to do two slots for $40. I will be making a print of these two for use as examples during Furfright (possibly Otokon as well). I will discount one of the slots to $30 if the character is NOT a dog, wolf, fox, horse, or a hybrid of the above
These will be watercolor with a background, approximately twice the size of your standard badge (4X6 instead of 3X4) laminated with 5mil laminate and clip. They will include the name.
If I get both commissions today, turnaround time should be about a week (deadline, done by next sunday) and shipped by next Wednesday.
Payment upfront through paypal. Shipping in the US is $4.50, abroad is $6.00. Commissioner will also be given a printable scan of the badge if they wish.
I will not make X-rated badges, but any other theme is fine. Background specifics are up to the artist. Feral, Anthro and Centaur characters are welcome!
