Share with me your 'sona connections
General | Posted 9 years agoI've been thinking a lot about animal forms and artistic representations lately and have pursuing new art of my Pine Marten self as well as DEVELOPING A NEW ANIMAL CHARACTER!(omg) Those who have known me as "the Pine Marten" forever probably realize this is kind of a big deal, but I've been excitedly thinking about it a lot lately. I expect I'll have some new art to show off in the very new future of both Marteny Straander and the new guy, stay tuned.
In the meantime, anyone want to share with me your thoughts behind your main Fursona's species and it's connection to you. And how you handle multiple characters if you have any?
Cheers~

trying again: FC journal
General | Posted 11 years agomy fucking tablet browser keeps erasing my journal as i type it, so going to keep this short and sweet. I am going to FC this week! Who else is going? What fun activities will there be?
Further Confusion peeps?
General | Posted 11 years agoi keep trying to write this journal, but apparently the return button occasionally acts as an "erase your entire post" button...
TMI Tuesday
General | Posted 11 years agoSo its already really late in tuesday (Feel free to ask questions on through wednesday) But I'm not even sure if I have enough watchers for this to work out anyway.
But yeah, I've been interested in trying one of these for quite some time. Ask me anything and I'll do my best to answer. Answers posted are guaranteed truth, but in some cases the omissions may speak more then the actual answer.
Just a couple ground rules: I will not answer if the answer involves personal information about another party, or could otherwise cause pain or hurt to a 3rd party.
Anyway, lets go!

Change change change is in the air this year.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo; a couple big announcements on my life.
On Tuesday I gave notice at my job that my last day would be December 6th. Still reeling from the feeling of finally being free. This job was my first work out of College, my only career period, and the place where I've spent most of my waking time for the entire 5 years I've lived in the Seattle area. I don't know what's kept me there so long, I have gained tons of great experience, but it was a very stressful workplace with much demand placed on the employees in terms of extra time and weekend time, all of it unpaid as I was salaried. It was probably fear of being without an income in a bad time economically, probably fear of upsetting the status quo when I had a steady reliable income and didn't know how to function in the professional environment. But in any case it's over. These last two days at work have been some of the most enjoyable in all my time there, I feel freed of stress and burden of feeling stuck in that workplace and can finally let my guard down.
So, second announcement; I will be starting my new position in early December at a new company in Kirkland I am very excited about. On my tour of the area I was amazed at how beautiful the building was, how much fun the employee's I would be working with look. And on top of that, Kirkland is a much much better place to work then Kent or Tukwila, in terms of places I can now live.
So, pursuant to announcement #2, I will now by moving apartments for the 3rd time this year. Doing some quick searching, finding a place not just nearby but actually in bicycling distance looks like it should not be much of a problem. I haven't been able to live in cycling distance from work since my summer job in Fairbanks, I can't wait to be freed from using my car on a daily basis. I hope I can find a place more rural and in the trees then my previous abodes. The next 6 months at the new job will be a lot of work and I'm going to be more short of money then the last couple years, but I hope it will pay off.
Oh also: Got my first ever tattoo today. Will post pics as soon as it heals up a bit.

Rainfurrest wrapup and..question?
General | Posted 12 years agoSo Rainfurrest was an awesome time, probably my best time at a con ever.
Saw lots of artists I admire, met up most of my friends from the greater region whom' I don't see that often. Got a pleasant buzz going all saturday evening and lost myself in the blissfully in dance and bouncing from group to group. Can't wait to see all you people again next year and *maybe* I'll even have a suit then!
Question, is it bad for my primary motivation to workout to be a desire to be as fit and sexy as my fursona?
Damn, Straander is one sexy Marten. Awww yeaaaah~

Jacq ... and then expounded on.
I'll be staying at the Marriott from Thursday [evening] to Sunday afternoon.
What will you be doing?:
Taking some pictures. Going to bring my juggling gear and playing around with that in the outdoor areas. If you juggle, come meet up with me!
Also plan to attend a few roomparties and the dance, and maybe a beer tasting party! Overall, just make a crazy, hyperactive fool of myself.
Can I touch you?
Hugs are a-ok.
Will you be suiting?
I will be wearing my Marten tail and sometimes my Marten Mask. If the opportunity to borrow a friend's suit presents itself, then I'll definitely take that up!
This is what I will look like in mask if you want to look for me: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11663836/

Yarn tail work buddies?
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I'm going to be spending a bunch of evenings over the next two weeks making yarn tail tufts so that my Marten tail will be fluffier then ever come RainFurrest.
But yarn-tail making is boring, mind-numbing work.
So; would anyone want to come hang out for a couple yarn tail making evenings? Maybe get started on a yarn tail of your own? Or just hang and watch movies while I work? This would be on mon-thursday evenings (after 6pm) of this week and mon-wed of next week.
Probably wont work with anyone's schedule, but just thought I'd check. Thanks!

Missing people from FA? :(
General | Posted 12 years agoSo i recently moved over to a new account and part of the move was to check through all the artists and friends I was watching and add them to the new account.
While doing this, I was completely shocked by the sheer amount of people who have left FA since I'd started watching them. More concerning is the amount who were people I knew who I was only in contact with through FA. Some were people who just haven't posted in forever. Many others were people who were recently active but closed their accounts with no word or explanation.
What causes people to just up and quite FA? Is it the constant drama and criticism of the admins? Do people just get sick of the furry scene and quite it?
Just some random thoughts...
