Halloween = Y U NO EXIST HERE
Posted 14 years agoGood morning my friends, and let us welcome what is simply to be known as the "3 AM" version of myself. The type of me that is struck with insomnia, and suppressed rage at the world. This time, "InsomniAyla" is bringing you a little bit of rambling about why I love - and hate - this particular day.
The upsides of Halloween... Ah, the one time when the furry community is able to stuff their face with chocolate delights, and stock up on energy drinks to survive the zombies... Oh, and we can't forget the cheesy horror movies. Gingerdead Man, Killer Condom... Death Bed...
Oh but the best of all, we can get away with fursuiting in public!
...this is apparently not the case for a certain Aussie feline.
You see, Australia is a crappy place in the sense we follow a mostly British culture. Save for the "American" language (yes, most of my generation does say "pants" instead of "trousers", and yes we do know what family guy is). But we seem to be missing out on one big thing: Halloween.
The little kids sometimes get it, but over the years I've found that no-one really does anything. And with me living in this small, coastal farming town... there's really not that many people to trick or treat anyway. No-one does anything for the day. No pumpkins, no costumes, no scary pranks... just a fucking Simpsons re-run or some stupid family movie on the weekend that we've all seen millions of times. Dad's just playing L4D2 like he normally does every other night, and mum's complaining that sugar is the equivalent of cyanide.
...no seriously, my mother is banning me from eating chocolate.
She says I'm not looking after my kidneys or something... too much sugar, which is the biggest load of bull I've heard from her in a while. I only get to stuff myself with caffein and sugar about once every... two and a half months. If I drink an iced coffee, she complains. Fair enough. If I buy four cans of Monster to help study for exams (which she also over dramatizes), she goes batshit. I wanted to eat some sweets, and she wouldn't let me have more than two pissy little gum balls.
I feel starved. As a semi-vegetarian who doesn't eat red meat, I'm not getting much out of fruit and vegetables for snacks all the time. I mean, fuck. I don't even get much more than one sour mandarin because we're "broke" or some shit. Here I am starving to death because I want to eat something more than coleslaw, and the one night I should be allowed that? I have my diet constantly being controlled by my mother, like I'm supposed to go to the naughty corner if I so much as glance at a single skittle.
Now, back on the topic of costumes.
I can't go and do anything extravagant. One, no-one is holding any parties and if they are, they're the bunch of dumbasses from school who are going to do nothing but drink and cheat on each other's boyfriends, while wearing playboy bunny outfits. No werewolves. No grim reaper. Nothing interesting.
Second, this neighbourhood is dead at night. No Halloween pun intended. It's just... dead. If I knocked on the door here, i'm either stabbed by a drunk guy or giving an eighty year old a heart attack... or wake up the horse-doberman-thing down the street and annoy everyone.
So I'm going to dress as human rainbow dash and sit in my room re watching the Halloween episode... over and over again... until my brain numbs from the lack of sugar or people to trick-or-treat with. Or more likely, sit around in class trying to stay awake... not likely though as it's about 4 AM and I need to be up at 7, for my controlling mother to yell at me once more...
Time to attempt some sleep. Wish me luck.

R.I.P Kittle
Posted 14 years agoWe live in a friend's house, as long-term pet sitters. We've been looking after five cats and two chickens (Trippy, Kitkat and Kimba are our cats).
But Kittle, Babu's mother, died of a tick bite today.
Her owner just found out this morning, after returning from a business trip. It was Kittle's time, she was about 13 years old and ready to move on, but it doesn't change how sad we all are about the loss of this cat.
So, on a final note: Rest In Peace, Kittle. You will be missed.

I find this quite discriminatory. After all, brony is just another subculture of the furry fandom, is it not? Regardless, I choose not to complain too much on changing the group rules via arguing, so I decided to make another group for those of you who don't care whether your fellow furs are ponyfags or not.

School in an hour.
Posted 14 years agoWell, these holidays have been fun but now it's time to wrap them up and continue with one final term this year. Still hard to let go of my bed and laptop, but I did drag myself off about half an hour ago to get all my books and cram them into the minitardis (a terrible nickname for my schoolbag; it's starting to fall apart now).
So, sneezing and half awake with cold... I've discovered a password which will allow me to sneak onto FA during lunch, but in general my internet time will be cut short by a long haul of School Certificate Exams. I dread having to do these, let alone so soon after the trials, but in the end it will be worth it.
And for this final -hopefully not stressful- term, this is the last asidicpepsi and I will see of cckuribon and straitis in school. I wish Cyril a happy leave, and look forward to seeing Tobias again in "year 13". (Also, if you need any help plotting your revenge during your repeat year, I'll be willing to lend a helping paw.)
So, time to de-freeze, get the old collar out, and brace myself for the last few months. After this, only two more years to go...

Instead, I'm becoming socially reclusive and hiding in my room - surrounded by unfinished sketches and various empty glasses of coke. I doubt my concentration skills and ability to focus on tasks that don't interest me - note to self, never take another two year photography course again - which is worrying because the fate of my school year depends on how much attention is given to assignments and studying.
Also, a number of birthdays are coming up in the next two months and I want to be well prepared. Lately I've been letting most of my older friends down by not talking to them much or forgetting small things like birthdays and/or phone numbers. So, as soon as I'm done with this impulsive URGE to sketch, I will be trying to cram this work in over the weekend.

Running out of musical ideas
Posted 14 years agoHowever, I'm getting concepts in my head about how to do my most recent album art. As soon as I've got that completed, along with - very late - requests/commissions, I'll be releasing RAFvsPDS. I have one more week of holidays left, so I'll be making some progress during this time.
As for music itself; why would I run out ideas you say? Well, it's not so much "running out", but getting bored of always doing electronica. Now don't get me wrong, I love hyperactiveravecorewhich should totally be a genre name by the way, just saying, but I feel like I'm neglecting my other favourite music styles.
loxodrome has been turning me into a bit of a metalhead again, and I've always had a soft spot for ska-punk. But I have absolutely no bloody idea how to make a skapunk song! So it looks like I'll be doing some experimenting for the next while, rather than stuff for Hybrid Hardkore. After I finish this album I think I deserve a well earned break.

Thinking of trying a new diet...
Posted 14 years agoWell I've been spending some time thinking about it, and after hearing from people who've tried (and sometimes failed), I've decided I'm going to try becoming semi-vegetarian.
This won't mean I'll stop eating meat all together. I adore red meat and pork - and pretty much live off the stuff - but I have noticed a lack of vegetables in my diet. I feel like I get enough calcium and protein simply from drinking milk and eating chicken, and I'm not eating nearly as much in general. I'm debating whether or not this is because a mostly "carnivorous" diet is playing around with my digestive system and making me want to eat less... either way, I've been eating nothing much at all except for the occasional "meat-binge", which only gives me a temporary energy boost. It doesn't feel particularly healthy, and meat is starting to lose it's taste after eating it so often.
So if I do decide to do this over the upcoming holidays, does anyone have recipes or tips to ensure I don't throw my diet completely out of whack? I've been doing chicken with rice a lot, and trying to have salad when I can, but I'm getting a little sick of the same kinds of foods all the time... because y'know, too much meat's just going to make me fat lol.
So eh... I'll still have chicken, fish and bacon. Just no steaks for a while... meep.

Here comes the sun (Spring update)
Posted 14 years agoTo those of you who are wondering where straitis is, he's banned from using his computer and had his phone taken off him - which means this mad ol' ferret friend of mine is off the internet for a while. He's also been prohibited from the classroom where we hang out at lunch. Ah well, I'll tell him on monday that the #sexy gang on IRC is thinking of him.
Oh, and some jerk decided to steal the amp and GPS from our car. He left the stereo and CDs, but without the amplifier it may as well be a brick. Dad and I are very dissapointed in the person who did this, and hope the police find the culprit soon.
School is constantly contradicting itself; the Department Of Education says I can leave school at the age of 17, but my school itself believes I have to stay on until the end of year 12. And amongst this confusion, I also have a second warning letter for an overdue maths assignment which I was unable to complete earlier (being in hospital/"dropping out" for two weeks).
Mathematics aside, my music assignment is being nice to me. In theory, I have to chose a piece of technology and write about how it changed music over the years. Because electronic music is my passion, my teacher has allowed me to combine synthesizer and MIDI into the same research task. This is the part where I put more time and effort into school than anyone has ever seen me do. I'm required to play a chosen piece of music to the class as well, so this will also mean taking the piss out of skrillex fans - angerfist style.
As for my love life, I'm happy to say that I'm now mated to a newly converted furry. So yes, this happy caracal is now paired with a lovable vegan weasel - which is funny because weasels are solely carnivorous. Lol.
And yes, that's what's new with me. Busy as usual, going someplace over the weekend and still trying to get free time on the main PC to use photoshop. Each request has been simplified into a badge, so I may just do them all traditionally and scan them when I'm able to.

Posted 14 years agoIT'S FRIDAY FRIDAY GOTTA UPDATE ON FRIDA-- sorry.
So, things in my personal life have ended up turning me into somewhat of a hypocrit. I said I was respectful to all religions, and yet I made the foolish mistake of defacing a church sign and getting banned from my friend's house. I've already started planning a formal apology letter to the church; as for these annoyed Christian friends... well, let's hope they'll understand.
As for a "mate" of mine. Well, things are just getting plain ironic. After hearing them sing at 3 in the morning, my libido has decided to play tricks on me all week and I am once again in a state of mental decision-making. However, I can gladly say I'm happy to be going to the movies with him tomorrow.
Also, my back has been killing me for the past two days. I'm drinking water and trying to avoid salty foods, but the pain of dehydrated kidneys is not a nice feeling at all...

Name my chickens?
Posted 14 years agoWe just bought ourselves two baby chickens. Both red ones, one with a tiny dark spot on her head.
Now, my dad just wants them for eggs. But because I'm a furfag and consider them to be part of the family lol I want to name them. The first I've called Berry, but I'm stuck between ideas for the other hen.
Should I call her: Pinkie or Sage?
Sage would be a play on the sage chicken stuffing, which is more a joke my parents made up. However, I saved Berry from the horrifying fate of being called Onion and feel that the other hen would hate the 4chan reference as well.
So, what do you guys think? Berry and Pinkie, or Berry and Sage?
Now, my dad just wants them for eggs. But because I'm a furfag and consider them to be part of the family lol I want to name them. The first I've called Berry, but I'm stuck between ideas for the other hen.

Also, after some discussion with snaggletoothmonster we decided that Hybrid Hardkore wasn't really what she was interested in and once again, I'm on my own in the project.
However, I do still enjoy collaboration and my new idea is this:
Those of you who create electronic music, and want to get a larger audience, feel free to drop me a note and I'll consider letting you have a release on a V.A (various artists) album. I'll be doing a few of these, seeing as I can't always do an entire album on my own. Plus, it benefits the FA musician community and gives you a chance to publicise your music/art.
Although the name is Hybrid Hardkore, you don't necessarily have to compose "hardcore" or "gabber" music. As long as it's got a little bit of bop to it, I'll be willing to accept hands-up, eurodance and even video game remixes. Whatever makes you and your music unique, really.
As for album art, I can't do all of that myself either. So whoever wants to help out on that as well, free free to note me.
By doing this project on a larger scale, I hope I'm making a reasonable contribution to the FA community and in this experience, we can work to further educate ourselves in our music and maybe even make more friends in the process.
