Analyzing platforms and plans on changing my upload shedule
General | Posted 9 months agoSince I've been back onto DeviantArt, I recently analyzed the interaction rates and feedback on my submissions and I feel like I missed out on so much.
I've been uploading my artworks on several websites like Twitter, FurAffinity and on some rare occasions Bluesky.
Bluesky I obviously abandoned due to the major shift in user activity and more concerning events on there.
The fact that a site like Crearsky exists is a good feature, however I feel very uncomfortable with users receiving anonymous labels and being put on lists maliciously.
Lastly also the significant increase in SA and CSAM that has been reported in statistics ever since more users moved over to Bluesky definitely shook me off.
Twitters algorithm gets worse and worse every day.
Instead of healthy growth, the only way of getting interactions there is to ragebait.
The toxisity has skyrocketed since COVID and while I don't mind the political shift and less oppressive censorship, the site has a major bot and NSFW problem, making it impossible to use.
Lastly FurAffinity.
While I basically just upload and move on, I find next to no success here.
NSFW content is clearly flooding the timeline, giving you a weird feeling to participate just to get some attention.
It's hard to build a small audience here without moving to fetish art.
But why do I say all of this?
DeviantArt changed everything.
I left the platform in early 2023 for DeviantArt's weird decisions.
When I heard about them introducing AI to their system and they started promoting AI "artists" making thousands of dollars in revenue, it left an awful taste in my mouth and I kept on to the decision to never go back.
But in reality it was a mistake, because looking through my recent works and the ability to join groups to promote my art further, I gained significant numbers compared to all other platforms combined.
Advertising is far easier than anywhere else and building an audience more comfortable.
Knowing that all of my favourite artists also started out and grew their audiences there as well, I was foolish.
After deep consideration I have to admit that this website truly gives me a lot more motivation to keep going and people genuinely like my art, regardless of the theme.
I held myself back for way too long, attempted to push several times without success.
But it's time to make a change.
From now on I'll be semi-active here, only uploading when I have a good amount of pieces finished.
I'll start focusing a lot more on DeviantArt and build a followership there with art I'm genuinely interested in.
As long as FurAffinity doesn't proof itself to be worth my sweat, tears and wrist, I'll keep my activity minimal here.

IRL updates
General | Posted a year agoBeen busy for the last month doing some planning for the upcoming saturday.
Art is planned, but I have to manage time properly to get to it.
Moving to a whole new country is a lot of work after all.

Taking a step back into the MLP fandom
General | Posted a year agoAnyone who knows me since the beginning of time where I made my first digital artworks, should have knowledge about me being a former brony throughout the years of 2014 - 2019.
The fandom jumpstarted my attempts of digital art and everything related to what I am today.
Without this fandom, I probably wouldn't even be here to begin with.
After some horrible memories withthe firry fandom (specifically the dutch branch), I slwoly move further away from being a furry.
While I enjoy having a fursona who is now over 5 years old and hasn't changed a lot over the years except the major one in 2023 thanks to my partner who also unfortunately triggered the negative experiences, I feel as if I need some time off the fandom and rent a hotel in a different place.
The show "My Little Pony" is still popping into my timeline, I secretly watch episodes to a point where I've gathered more knowledge material and what the community is today is certainly different, yet the same at the same time.
In august I even found new grounds by attending a local meetup with a lot of people thanks to my long time friend who radiated my interest into the fandom.
It somewhat triggered something in me, as if the fandom wants to pull me back in.
Meeting people inside the MLP fandom is also a lot more comfortable unlike what I've experienced around new years and eastern this year.
No one knows me from online, I am truly fresh. I can express myself without thinking about past mistakes that plague me, potentially enabling negative all the way to even suicidal thoughts.
I have no known persona and most importantly, am not known as a tool from someone else.
I am seen as my own person, not as just a partner from my GF. A "buitenlander" (foreigner in dutch).
So screw it.
I am a brony again. I made a new OC and will see what I can do.
I feel comfortable for once.

Artstyle crisis - the end
General | Posted 3 years agoI'm tired of constantly changing artstyles I can't execute long term.
from now on imma do a mix between the Spaicy artstyle and my previous colored oulines.
Combining them together.
Example here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51308800/
Gonna update all portraits and might choose to take some very old artworks and redo them fully for comparison.
