As the title mentioned, no stream on Sunday. In fact, it looks like there will be a lack in Sunday streams for the foreseeable future while I assist with my parents in now the second weekend spent trying to help with something.

Long short of it is to get my garage into a stable state that I won't have to worry about it for the next handful of years so then when I can finally move forward with building a brand new garage, I can then tear down this eye-sore and finally be done with it. This has been made a priority not just because of weather pending, but because they need to use my place to temporarily store a small motor boat for the season. I can only guess it's because certain relatives are picky about us using their garage for storage...funny in that, from what I understand, it's not even OUR boat to begin with.

But I digress, because I'll be busy helping them with outdoor work and getting things fixed up, I will be dialing back on the Sunday streams until it is done.

===UPDATE 10/16/25===
So much of the cleanup events have spilled over from the garage to my house, with the cleanup being done on the basement and 1st floors of my house, and that unfortunately means that Thursday streams will have to be put on pause as well so I can help continue the cleanup efforts. :(

This is only temporary, but I'll let you know when I'll be able to continue streaming again.

So...September has not been a good month for streaming so far...between being sick and internet issues, and now, work and musical commitments ramping up.

Let me be clear...I really do enjoy streaming, the company, and giving my full, unfiltered first-time impressions for new games to all who watch. But, in the end, I've always saw this venture as more or less a hobby that I'm not expected to make any serious money off of, and will always be putting my full-time job (which is my prime money maker), and other IRL commitments that require my help and attention first.

Now, concerning this Thursday: I am expected to travel and assist another branch due to staffing shortages there, and that shift is going to be longer than I've normally covered before, meaning I'm looking at getting up very early, and--between travel and actual work--looking at a 12-hour work day. As such, there won't be a stream this Thursday.

As for my schedule for the rest of the year, there are some significant events going on that will affect my streaming schedule, which I'll be breaking down here:

>Musical Rehearsals: As you may already know, I'm part of a local Chamber Singers group, and we started rehearsals last week Monday for our Christmas concert series in December. One of the topics of conversation was the idea of doing multiple rehearsals sooner rather than waiting for the last 3 weeks prior so we're able to hammer out problematic numbers and sections. Because of how yucky I was Sunday, I wasn't able to attend and give my two-cents worth to suggest starting the extra rehearsals in late October. Now, it appears the idea is on the table to start those extra rehearsals now. A day has not been set for those extra rehearsals, nor has that idea been agreed to yet, but if it does happen to fall on Thursdays, I am open to temporarily switching my second stream day to Wednesday, which would then be reserved for FPS Shoot-the-Breeze fun times with friends. I will follow up with more details depending on what I learn concerning the extra rehearsals.

>Hiatus: I am looking at taking a hiatus from streaming from Thanksgiving through mid-January for two reasons: 1) Aforementioned Musical Commitments, since that is when our final rehearsals will demand more focus and attention, in addition to our concerts for that month. 2) I will be taking a two-week vacation to Trinidad & Tobago from December 20th thru January 3rd to spend Christmas and New Years (and some much-needed personal time) with my fiancé  WolfgerLion64 and his family. I may be able to squeeze in one or two streams between the concerts and my trip (especially with big titles like Metroid Prime 4 coming out then), but for the most part, expect no streams for the month of December.

That pretty much covers current events for my life and my streaming schedule. Obviously, it's all subject to change and is tentative...especially my Trinidad Trip due to certain...geopolitical issues...which I won't go into detail about. We'll see what comes, and hope for the best.

Due to some persistent internet lag spikes and issues, I sadly had to cut stream short tonight. While there was feedback saying it wasn't too terrible, knowing that it was persisting so badly that it was still affecting chat's enjoyment of the stream/game, and to that effect, my ability to enjoy our interactions, really shot down my mood, even after I did all I could to reset the internet equipment.

Whether this is a one off due to certain circumstances (like the large butterfly sunspot) or something else, I don't know. Either way, it just wasn't fun having that hang over my head.

There will not be a VOD of tonight's stream because of how short it was; it will be a part of the VOD for the next Waterpark Sim VOD that comes out next week (internet willing).

Thanks to those that did decide to hang out anyway; I appreciate the understanding and support more than you realize...

I've been feeling a long burnout over this past week from a lot of work-related stress and didn't have the energy to consider what to stream, let alone stream in general. So tonight is going to be an off night for me to de-stress and just try to relax.

It's hard to believe that it's been one whole year since I started streaming, going back and forth between familiar territory and new.

And, since I manage to get a whole day off, what better way than to just relax, kick back, and just play casually through some old NES Classics while shooting the breeze with chat and answering any questions they may have?

Odd setup? Actually, this Tuesday's stream will be an open "Ask Me Anything (AMA)" session, where chat can freely ask me questions to get to know me a little more.

There are some rules to be established to ensure the stream and the Q&A goes smoothly:

-No NSFW Questions: As much as I'd like to answer those questions, I'd rather keep things as clean as I can.
-No Overly Personal Questions: Keep things general; don't ask specific or intrusive questions (i.e. name of my work, specific date of birth, etc.)
-Code of Conduct Still Applies: The Code of Conduct still applies to the questions you ask; you can review it in the About Section of my Twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/studthekangaroo/about . In short, no charged or controversial questions.

I do reserve the right to skip a question if I feel it would run afoul of the rules, I'm not comfortable answering that question, though I may revisit it if it is a question that I needed time to think about an answer (not all questions have easy answers).

As some of you may know already, I've been keeping updates rolling on my ISP situation due to how badly my streams were being affected. Now with the proper hardware updates done for my home (at the very least), things have apparently stabilized. However, that's only been prevalent during my Sunday streams, which--as of now--will remain unchanged with its scheduling.

My Thursday streams, however, may have to be rescheduled depending on how stable the internet remains around my usual stream times. Hopefully I will NOT have to readjust my stream schedule from Thursdays, but we'll see if things are better or worse for tonight and future Thursday streams so I know for sure if it's still a lingering quality issue or just a one-off.

Regardless, I will keep you posted when I can on this front; knock on wood! :3

So I wanted to post an important follow up given how I've been trying to track and resolve my ISP issues (if possible).

Today will be the first stream I'll be doing since the technician replaced my router with the correct router to provide stable internet connectivity for my area, since it is now compatible with their network hardware in my area. As such, my internet connection should be more stable, and the drop in internet/frames should be minimal. That being said, if it does not appear to improve, or the issues persist despite this update, I will have to seriously consider going on a lengthy hiatus from streaming...and it really is because of an issue beyond my control and is all related to my ISP.

So it's time to rip the band-aid off and level about the internet situation:

My ISP is Spectrum (formerly Charter Communications). And several years ago, they were planning (and ready) to carry out a technical overhaul of the hardware throughout my area and the surrounding region to not only provide faster, stable internet, but to also make it possible for the upload speeds to match the download speeds, or at the very least, be MUCH faster than 10Mbps. Right now, my current plan has a Download-Upload Ratio of about 1Mbps Upload to every 40Mpbs of download; not the most accurate way to describe it, but it's the best way I can describe it for my situation.

The goal was to wrap up the upgrades and have things solid as of 4 years ago. Of course, we all know what was happening around then - the COVID Pandemic...

The pandemic upended a lot of plans for my area, forcing Spectrum to then reroute their resources and efforts to other "high priority" areas as they have paid and volunteer technicians do overnight hardware upgrades. Last I was told, they were working in Sault Ste. Marie ("The Soo" for some) and making their way west, hitting other major city hubs like Marquette, Escanaba, and Iron Mountain (to name a few). Until then, they did a type of "band-aid" solution to ensure that we have some form of better internet access, until they can do the proper hardware updates for our area.

Of course, this leads to a "catch" as I was told: because of the network in my area not having full-on hardware upgrades, the new router takes time to reboot and reconnect. As such, if I were to power cycle it, it could take much longer to reconnect to the internet than what the older modems took, and that leads back to the above consideration of having to take a break from streaming if the networking issues persist, as much as I'd hate to do so, but it's hard to provide fun to all of you when lag and dropped frames are constantly getting in the way.

I hope the issues are ultimately a one-off, and if I do have to do an internet reset during stream, I will slightly extend stream time to accommodate for the disruption in service.

Just in case any of you may have missed my BlueSky: there is NO stream tonight as I'm using tonight to try and catch up on some VOD work between my weekend streams and some earlier streams. For that matter, in the future, you can expect me to take a brief hiatus for a stream day (or night) or two as I play catchup with VOD editing after long streaming periods where my work schedule allows for it.

Also, a quick update on my internet issues. They sent me a new modem...but it is more or less the exact same one as I have, so they're sending a technician with the proper equipment to make the needed changes to (hopefully) stabilize my internet connection so I don't have to worry about drops in internet quality for my streams.

I'll keep you posted; if all goes well, there should be little to no issues come Sunday. We'll see then!

I want to extend gratitude and thanks to all who were able to swing by and view my streams over the weekend despite the technical problems that plagued it, mainly due to my ISP. I still enjoyed the times it worked, and I still enjoyed the fun I had with friends, whether I was collaborating with them or having them watch in the wings.

This is basically an update on that front - I reached out to my ISP to report the issues and mention that I got a new modem from them since my other one was several years old. Come to find out, the "new" modem they sent me isn't "new" enough to be compatible with the internet they have running through in my area, which is why my internet has had several instances of it spiking up and causing lag, not just with my gaming, but also my streaming. Because of that, they're sending me a new-new modem for me to accept and install on Thursday afternoon.

The new modem should suffice and null the issues I've been having with streaming; if it doesn't, I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do with my streaming plans in the future, let alone streaming in general. I know nothing kills the streaming enjoyment more than ISP issues resulting from half-assed oversight.

At this time, Thursday's stream should still be on, and if all goes well, I plan to move forward with Cash Cleaner Sim or DK Bananza; we'll see what happens. If the stream still acts up, I'll have to put my streaming on hiatus until either they get their act together, or I find a new, more cooperative ISP to work with.

I haven't really dived into the DK series even though I briefly dabbled with the classic SNES games, so this will be a first for me, and I look forward to sharing first time impressions!

Juneteenth is upon us and it's a day I have off from work, so what better time to kick back and relax with some apocalyptic FPS games on the docket?

We'll be starting off with a dive into Left 4 Dead 2 with friends as we play through the whole Resident Evil Custom Campaign series, based on the first 3 Resident Evil games. We delve into the depths of the Spencer Manor and fight through the chaos of Raccoon City to hold of the dead and escape with our lives! I will be joined by friends for this first part of the Stream as we run and shoot our way to freedom!

After that, it'll be solo gaming as I dive back into Doom: The Dark Ages for an extended playthrough of this game that will go until I complete the main story, or until it gets close to my normal closing time of 10PM CDT/11PM EDT, whichever comes first, unless I am literally THAT CLOSE to the end, to which, buckle on up, we'll be going into overtime! :3

Hi everyone.

As the title says, I'm going to be taking a break from streaming until June 5th. For those who haven't heard from either my BlueSky or my fiance  WolfgerLion64. one of my cats, Minnie, passed away...

Her death had been a real shock to me and my family, and a part of me has not fully recovered from that...so I want to focus on myself a bit more before I go live again. I'll still be around in the streaming community and mingling with friends...it has been a helpful salve for my aching heart...

For those who have and cherish your pets...hold them close and give them all the love you can give them...because you never know when they'll be gone...

Though FA is in Read-Only Mode, it still allows for journals (thankfully =w=;)

But wanted to put here that after wrapping up my spring commitments, I'm back with more streaming tonight at 7PM CDT/8PM EDT with more of my Star Hunt series in Super Mario Galaxy!

Just posting a front-page reminder in case people miss the Submission concerning tomorrow's stream after it is deleted:

-Temporary Stream "Overtime": My plan is to wrap up the first Ace Attorney Game over my next two Sunday streams (including tomorrow's), and given how long the first day of Case 5 took (a total of about 3.5 hours), I will basically be streaming until I complete each "day" of the case, which includes the Trial and the investigation leading up to said Trial. After that, I think a relaxing fallback on a familiar game is in order, don't you think? =w=

-Hiatus until May 1st: After tomorrow's stream, I'll be off until May 1st - the first Thursday of the month - on account of my commitments to local musical events in my area. We'll do more star hunting in Super Mario Galaxy at that time, and (hopefully) wrap up the final day of the final case of the first Ace Attorney game!

So it's that time of year again where I do have some real life musical commitments that do start to conflict with my streaming schedule as we get closer to concert time.

I have concerts to perform at on Friday, April 25th, and Sunday, April 27th. With those dates not too far off, we've been kicking up the frequency of our rehearsals to ensure we get the music down pat; proposed days over the next weeks happen to include Thursdays.

As such, tomorrow's stream (April 10th) will be the last Thursday stream for the rest of April; I will be resuming Thursday streams on May 1st. Sunday streams will still go ahead as normal, with the exception of April 27th since that concert would be right after my normal stream time.

For those that may have missed my BlueSky post - I am taking tonight off to play catchup on editing and uploading my most recent streams to my VOD channel on YouTube as I have not been able to squeeze time in this week, nor will I have time this weekend to get that in.

Plus...woof...has work really been taking a lot out of me mentally this week =m=;;;;; so all the more to just take an off night to focus on stuff without pressure or worry.

I've already made mention of this in my livestream notice, but I'll just quickly blurb here about it - tonight will be my first official stream as a Twitch Affiliate! :3

So what does that mean? It means you can now support me through cheering bits and subscribing (or gifting subs) for ad-free viewing and access to a growing collection of emotes! You can also accrue channel points (my own personal points called Roo Hops!) with which you can redeem for some interactive rewards (i.e. make me drink water, make me stretch, etc.).

Since I am getting my feet wet on this, the collection of emotes and range of redeems will be limited at first until I can build up and get things working smoothly, like sound redeems. That being said, some of you might be wondering - what about the ads?

Right now, I am limiting ads to pre-roll, and trying to get that balance to have minimal ads to maximize the viewing experience for non-subscribers. So basically, when you land on my page, you get one short ad blurb...that's it, so long as you don't refresh the page or leave and come back. I do have it set so that if ads do show up mid-stream (which shouldn't be the case) that I should get notified if and when it happens so I can give a heads up for everyone that I will take a quick break to let them roll. If they somehow do show up without warning mid-stream, please let me know so I can review those settings and try to fix them to the best of my ability.

Hello beans!

Just placing this here for future reference that I have expanded my streaming schedule; I am now going to be live on Thursdays from 7pm-10pm Central Time!

After some careful deliberation, I figured that Thursdays would be a day I could pull off for another casual solo stream day, whether that's falling back on familiar games, exploring smaller games, or (like for tonight), do completionist run of some games! On the docket tonight, the first of my Star Hunt Series for the Super Mario 3D All-Star Collection!

Will I find all the stars and sprites, or go mad before I throw myself back into the courtroom? Let's find out!

Tonight, look forward to some random apocalyptic mayhem with a classic multiplayer game - Left 4 Dead 2! We'll be spinning the wheel of random to determine what normal maps we play and what weapons we use! As for the characters? The game will decide that. Also, to add some spice, my friend and I will be using some mods to make the gameplay interesting or just add some laughs X3 As mentioned before, if Tuesday streams are something I can feasibly squeeze in after work, you can expect multiplayer games and some general pow-wow shoot-the-breeze fun, be it with my friends, chat, or a mix!

Thursday will be a chill, single player stream. What might we be digging into? Well...a literal game about digging a hole? It'd be a nice switch from digging snow for hours X3 a nice relaxing game with its own challenges, I feel like this would be a nice relaxing game (or series of games) for Thursdays if I'm not in the midst of a lengthy single player game. The Star/Sprite hunts from the 3D Mario Games would be another possibility for days like this! These days are looking more like a possibility each day, so look forward to an announcement where Thursdays may be added to my schedule going forward!

Unfortunately, I am going to have to call off today's stream as I have been dealing with a family matter that I've been grappling with this weekend and reached its conclusion last night.

One of our pets, Bianca, who had been in our family since the early 2010s, passed away last night. She was quite the (literal) handful, and yet we loved her all the same, and treasured the joy she brought to our hearts. She will be deeply missed...

Because of this, I'm not feeling of the right mind to stream today, so I will be taking a break today and will resume streaming next Sunday.

So next Sunday - Feb 9 - there will be no Stream that day. I have quite a few commitments that day that don't make it feasible to stream that day, regardless of what time I do.

That being said...

One of my goals for the year is to reach Twitch Affiliate this year, which requires specific goals to be met before I can apply. While I met most of the requirements, one of them is that I have to stream 7 days within a 30 day period. Obviously that goal cannot be met if I'm doing this once a week on Sundays.

So while I have PTO this week, I'm going to experiment with two extra streams on days that I hope to add to my Streaming Schedule - Tuesday and Thursday. As for the context of those particular days, well I've been leaning on the following:

Tuesdays - Multiplayer Games: This day would be reserved for some multiplayer gaming with friends, opening up the doors to some collaborative streams with other streamers in the process. Days like this would not only be for new games, but familiar ones as well. The general vibe would be shooting the breeze while enjoying some gaming ranging from casual to intense. Regardless of the rating of the game in question, the conversations between streamers can get a bit more "mature", so keep that in mind.

Thursdays - Solo Games: This day would be another solo game session, focused on either games that I'm currently playing (especially if they're longer games), or be a break to explore smaller games of various genres in between Sunday streams as a palette cleanser. It'd be the same you'd expect from my Sunday streams.

As for the time? I am looking at having them at 6:30PM CST/7:30 EST, and they would go for the usual length of 3 hours, give or take.

Now, does that mean this new schedule is effective immediately? No. This is a trial run of potential days while I don't have to worry about work pressures and the like until I can get a solid feel for if those days and times are feasible, considering that I don't get home most days until just before 6PM. Plus, I want to actually earn and maintain a stream schedule where it feels like I can be an actual Affiliate with a consistent, fulfilling schedule; not drop a handful of days within a month to meet the requirements and then go back to bare-bones minimum streaming. If I want to earn revenue from my streams, I want to make it worth it and not short change anyone as long as it is within my power to do so.

Anyway, that's where things stand. I do hope things pan out this week for the better as I really do enjoy this new venture and the friends I've made along the way! Hope to see you all around!

As we bring 2024 to a close and reflect on the events of this year, it's all the more important to remain resolute and determined. The new year is going to be one of several that could come with many stressful twists and turns, and some of them could turn dark very fast and very quick. As I mentioned in an earlier journal shortly after the Election, I'm not going to run away or hide from the next day out of fear or get mad and thrash at everything...but I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about what the future holds, not just for myself but for all my friends, on here and elsewhere.

Yet I do remember something that was said: "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."

Remember that you're not alone in this; that light is closer than you might think...

With that said, what does that do for myself and my future? I'll continue to take it one day at a time; I do have goals beyond simply just "surviving" to the next day. I will continue to grow and improve myself on a lot of fronts, and do my best to be one of those "lights" in the world, even if it's simply just being me in my Twitch Streams.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to give a heads up that I'll be taking a brief hiatus from streaming because of a mix of a lot of real-life events coming together around this time of year. Normally, I've been able to take things in stride even with my new streaming hobby, but this year, recent and current events have taken a little more out of my energy and productivity than usual, and I simply can't ignore them or get out of them.

It wasn't an easy choice to make given how I have enjoyed streaming and the friends I've made over the last 3 months because of it. The support, advice, and just simply being there to watch have been of great help as well...but there are gonna be times where I need to focus on what I have going on offline and balance that with the creativity I do online. This will definitely be a thing that happens around this time of year, every year, going forward.

Does this mean I'll vanish completely over the next few weeks? No; I'll still be around to socialize with and support other streamers and friends; just that I'll be quietly lurking more than usual as I put more focus on finding a good balance between my annual holiday commitments and my online life, and catching up on personal projects that I don't want to pile up in the background and start a vicious cycle of procrastination and lethargy.

Once things have settled down, I'll be back streaming (hopefully) on December 15th. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, and I'll see you then!
