Oculus Quest Finally Came; Worth the Patience =w=
General | Posted 6 years agoSo today, my Oculus Quest came in the mail. I ordered it just after Christmas when I finally said "okay, I gotta have this" after reading reviews, and just seeing how it was flying off the shelves left and right.
At the time I ordered it, it was scheduled to ship by February 21st (literally 2 days before, it was January 21st). Now as I have looked occasionally on the Oculus website, I see it is unavailable in many regions (including North America). This is mainly over issues with the Corona Virus outbreak (I'm guessing a main manufacturing plant is in China).
That aside, the wait was worth it; even though my living room is quite confined, I had enough room to work with the roomscale option, and I absolutely love it. Can't wait to dive even further into this VR world =w=
If you're curious about it, once it becomes available, the 64GB is $399, for if you don't find yourself playing it VERY often or just want a taste of it. For those (like me) that say "Give me the full package", $499 is the price of the 128GB unit. I have to say, for an extra $100 to get double the hardware memory, it's worth the investment.
Now I look forward to Half-Life Alyx coming out next month; I do hope it's Valve's test run with VR and the showcasing of possible graphics and gameplay mechanics for a possible Half-Life 3.
Until then, we have to continue to live with the fact that Valve STILL can't count to 3 =w=;;;

Looking for an (OLD) Game from Childhood *SOLVED*
General | Posted 6 years agoSomething recently came to mind as I was thinking about my childhood.
Up until probably high school (2006-2010) my family had this old Packard Bell computer that ran on Windows 3.1 (yeah, it's a fossil compared to today's tech). It never could connect to the internet, so if we ever felt like doing some nostalgic things (mainly DOS games like Megarace, 3D Body, etc) we could and not worry about viruses (for the most part).
However, there's one game I'm having trouble remembering (and finding) that I enjoyed occasionally, and here's the basic rules (and goal) of the game:
The game has 2 players operating "Cells" on a grey grid-like table (cannot remember the dimensions); you control the blue cells while the computer controls the red cells. Each player takes turns filling in one of the grey cells with their own color, and then erases one cell of the opposing player's color. The goal of the game is to strategically fill in grey cells with your own color cells while removing the opponent's cells; the game ends when one player loses all their cells. Obviously the person who succeeds in eliminating all of the opponent's cells wins the game.
I don't know how many of you might have had a Windows 3.1 computer way back in the 90s, but I'm hoping some of you can answer my question. Occassionally I'm in a nostalgic mood and want to just fiddle around with old computer games, and this is one that I'd like to look back on.
I vaguely recall "Life" being part of the title, but it's not coming to me.
====UPDATE====
Found the game; it is called "Life Genesis" (I was right about "Life" being in the title! X3); the following is footage on YouTube that shows the more artistic side of the game. It's based on "Conway's Game of Life" and is part of the Microsoft Entertainment Pack Series (which also includes other games like Fuji Golf, SkiFree, Rodent's Revenge, and Rattler Race)

Fare thee well, my family...
General | Posted 7 years agoThis year hasn't been a good year for my family when it comes to relatives and loved ones v.v so this is going to be very sad...
First, back in March/April...not long after I moved into my grandma's old house, my cat Bootsie suddenly died. From what, we don't know...the only thing I could think of was that she suffered a sudden heart attack or she choked on something. My poor mother was there when she died, and she did everything to try and save her, but it was not enough. I was shaken badly by her death...because it happened so suddenly and out of nowhere...even now, I miss her...
Second, in June, one of my chihuahuas, Buster, passed away while my sister was caressing him during a storm. Unlike Bootsie, he went peacefully...we were actually weighing the option to euthanize him that same week because he was declining in health rapidly over the past year or so...it was a death that I knew was coming soon. The poor pup...
Third, on July 4th, I learned that my Uncle Bill had died after declining in health over the past couple of years. Each year for as long as I could remember, he and his wife would always come up to Watersmeet, Michigan and stay in their cottage for the summer. We would always visit around the 4th of July and Labor day for family gatherings, and have lengthy stories to share and catch up on before we said goodbye until next year. While I felt that his death was inevitable, this is one death that shakes me and fills me with regret. Some of you might've saw from my BF
WolfgerLion64 that he came up to visit for 2 months, from April until June...when it came to his arrival and his departure, both times I went down to Chicago...where my Uncle lived...and neither time had it crossed my mind to stop by and say "Hello' and see how he was doing. There was so much I wanted to tell him about...and now I'll never get the chance to tell him. Forgive me, Bill, for my lack of foresight... v.v
Forth, not even two weeks ago, a distant relative, but one we knew well as he lived locally and I've known since I was a kid...suffered grave injuries from a car accident, and died a few days later in the hospital. I was at his funeral with my family...paying our respects and reflecting on his life. It was not until last year that we realized he was related to us through my dad's late mother. He'll be missed, as it sounded like, despite him being over 90 years of age, he had energy like I've never seen for one his age...
And finally, I found out today that Buddy, our first chihuahua that I've had since 2001...passed away last night while my dad was cradling him to give him comfort out at the cottage. We expected him to pass away before Buster did, but over the past year, he rebounded in health while Buster declined...and after Buster's passing, he started swaying back and forth between high days and low days. Our best guess was that he was suffering heartbreak from Buster's death...
This year hasn't been an easy one for all of us...I just need time to reflect on this..

Downgrading Skype
General | Posted 12 years agoI need help; the pop-up ads for skype on my other computer are getting extremely annoying...even more so since they cause a slowdown in Adobe Flash that causes Skype to slow to a total crash. -_-*
I remember seeing a journal on here from one of the people I'm watching which had an alternate tip to removing the ads OTHER than reinstalling an older version of Skype. I could use the help ASAP

On the Elder Scrolls Online...
General | Posted 12 years agoIs it going to be as bad as the apparent general consensus has been online (even with Forbes weighing in)?
I'm trying to be somewhat neutral on this, but I'll have a solid answer once I downloaded it and play-tested it for free as Beta.
What do you all think about it?
