Artwork? What's that?

So I haven't done anything for months, maybe years now. Work and university got me in a mess. I haven't had time to draw anything. Well that's partially a lie. I haven't wanted to draw anything. I think I got into some kind of dip in self confidence and esteem that I didn't want to output anything. Not to mention watching other people draw better than you can when they're 14 or 15 and you're 21 can really be a kick in the confident nuts (I don't know what that means either). But recently I have picked up the old Wacom (after fixing bugs with the tablet not working properly with Photoshop) and did some drawing and felt a way that I haven't felt since 2015. I had the drive to actually finish a drawing that I started. And that happens often with me; I don't have the courage to finish a sketch or I look at it and think it's shit so I stop. But I finished it, and liked how it came out. One of my biggest problems was that I tried too hard to be like Wontoon (something I got called out for a lot (Thx Dev, Askr and Eric)) , and when it didn't look like his artwork I just thought I was shit and stopped. Now I try and just do my own thing and not worry too much about what it looks like. I'm just getting started, I haven't been drawing for 10+ years. I've got to find my own style. Be inspired by the people you like but don't plagiarise.

Now what does this title mean? I wanna try and get back into the art game. But I wanna start fresh. As of this journal post all my pre 2018 stuff is getting thrown into the TRAESH (or the scraps, most likely the scraps). I have done things that I am still proud of prior to this, but eh. I'll put them into the scraps so I can get a relatively clean slate.
I don't plan to pull a 2017 and draw everyday. I burnt myself out quick and fell into the "this is shit" phase. I'll just draw whatever I want whenever I want (hopefully every month). I'll try and make whatever I post to be full and complete. No WIPs or sketches (maybe on my Twitter or something, hint hint). Maybe I'll get some commished artworks every once in a while.
These are the plans and hopefully I can stick to it. Hopefully this year I can finally get good scrub and pull myself out of the creative dip.

Also thoughts: I've been considering moving my arts to a new Fur Affinity account. I'm kinda sick of my account name being stufafpassw. People who leave notes and shouts think that it's my name and they call me stufaf. I wanna move to a new account with a name that's actually MY name and not a template that I've used since 2011 of systematically differentiating my online accounts (stuart***(three letter website code)password).
If I was to move to an account called toddletoon would ya's follow me?

I totally forgot to do that thing I said I was going to do this year. But this happens so often with me that I'm not even disappointed with myself. It's just whatever. I can start anytime I want but I probably won't. University has started again and I finally got a part-time job. I'll try my best to draw SOMETHING but I should not set myself up like I did two months ago. I said I would draw every day. I said I'd revive my YouTube Channel. I said I'd start studying as soon as classes started. I said all these things at the beginning of the year as if it were a new years resolution. We're now in March and I've kept none of those promises. What can I say, I'm an extreme procrastinator. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, get working and studying, make some stupid videos and maybe fit some drawing in there somewhere. Also it was my birthday on Monday so that's a thing. 20 years old and I've still not got my shit together...

So my lack of art in the later part of 2016 was something I blame myself on. I did the exact same thing I did at the beginning of the year and lose interest in drawing for stupid reasons. However this one lasted for months. For someone that's trying to become a competent artist, that's not good enough. So for the entirety of 2017 I made a promise to myself to draw a picture every day. You could consider it like those month long challenges that people do but this one is going for the full 365 days of the year. This goal of drawing every day coincides with my main goal for 2017, which is be less lazy and create more, both visually and academically. I hope this goes all to plan (the little planning that went into this) and you'll get a new drawing from me every day. There may be extra rules I add to this like doing a full digital picture every weekend or something, but I'll get to that as time rolls on.
Anyways, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's hope it's a good one!

Have you ever had a bill come out of nowhere at a time where you have little money? Unfortunately that's what  omegaoverdrive has going on. Maybe the past couple of hours was a big mistake. Me saying that I would never draw again had upset a lot of people. It was sudden and unexpected. I made two of my closest friends cry. I never realised that my drawings meant that much to them. I have never made people react to something I've done before. And their reaction really upset me. It made me think that the way I told them about this was harsh and without warning. I sincerely apologise whatever sadness I caused.

So I have decided that this was a bad thing and should instead clarify that I'm going on indefinite hiatus. This means that I might start drawing again at any time.

Why? Because I just haven't had the motivation to draw anymore. I was asked if I still enjoy drawing and I said no. I don't feel like drawing gives me the same enjoyment as it did over a month ago. I always bitch and complain that there are people that are better than me. It pissed one of my friends off at one point. And maybe seeing one of my friends draw was the icing on the cake. Maybe I'm just depressed or stressed right now and this will blow over. But right now I'll leave drawing to the side and continue with my school.

Until then, I'll try and be here and I will try and get back into drawing at some point. But right now it's probably best if I go on a hiatus that's longer than one month.

There's a meme doing the rounds on Twitter where artists ask fans what part of their art is unique; what part of their art makes people say "Hey, that's such and such's picture."

I was thinking about asking this question on Twitter. But with just under 50 followers who don't really know what art I do I won't bother.

Personally I wouldn't ask this question. Even after a year here, my "style" changes so often that there wouldn't be a trademark with my art. With an unstable way I draw I don't see anything that would make people recognise it being my art.

Or am I wrong? What do you think? I'd love to hear what you would say is my defining trademark (excluding the characters and my signature). (This is also a test to see who actually reads this damn journals. With nearly 100 watchers at least someone had to be paying attention.)

Before anyone asks, it means nothing.
It just the way I create usernames for websites (so I don't forget them :P).

If I could I'd change it to "Charr!" but FA doesn't have such feature. I'm not going to migrate to a new account just to change my name (at least not now; there's too few of you to redirect you to a new account).

I'm 19

Well, that's it. I have no more motivation to draw any more.

I guess I've been pushed into the corner of "I can never be as good as my pears so what's the point", and that may be a bad thing.
But here's the thing, I wasn't aiming to be a good artist... but drawing was something I just did in my spare time, which I have less of nowadays what with university and work.
I can't think of much ideas to draw any more, and I get the feeling I'm not improving. I bet all the people who watch me don't really give a crap now, and those that did were only here for the fat fur fetish.

I'm stepping away from the pencil for a while... It isn't you guys, it's me. I find no more joy in drawing.
I'm NOT leaving FA, I'll still take part in the "community" and what I have already posted is staying, but as far as new drawings I'm gonna stop contributing to it for a while. Will I come back? Maybe... but it will be a long while before I even get motivated to draw a single line, let alone Charr.

I wish this wasn't the case, and I could've saved this by opening requests or commissions, but that has bitten me in the ass before...

And that's basically it... my motivation to draw is dead.
