Jurassic World: Rebirth - Review
Posted 2 months agoI had already shared my concerns about the new Jurassic World film beforehand in my 'Thoughts' post on my website, fearing it would be a hastily thrown-together piece of trash, and unfortunately, my gut feeling turned out to be right. Almost all of my reservations proved true.
Nothing about this movie felt right to me. In my opinion, it was also a mistake to rush another Jurassic World sequel so soon after Dominion. The last installment was released not that long ago, and given the creative crisis Hollywood is currently facing, this work could hardly be more than a lackluster reboot.
As for the first Jurassic World from 2015, it came at exactly the right time and it literally blew me away. I liked the cast. The film had great dinos and above all, they had Blue. For me, that was the true rebirth of the Jurassic franchise and at the same time a genuine love letter from the creators to the original Jurassic Park. I actually enjoyed this film much more than The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which was still directed by Steven Spielberg and based on a story by Michael Crichton.
“Rebirth,” on the other hand, is not a rebirth but a meteor strike to the franchise, and in this review, I’ll also show you why the film tries to fool the audience and get away with complete nonsense.
It starts right from the opening sequence, when a carelessly discarded Snickers wrapper practically leads to the destruction of the entire island lab.
At least Indominus was clever enough to outsmart the humans and escape from her enclosure. This film, however, is based on what’s called an 'idiot plot', a storytelling style where the plot only works because all the characters act like complete idiots.
The original plot, which featured a mysterious virus triggered by dinosaurs posing a threat to humanity and serving as the reason for the expedition to the new island, was apparently discarded. Instead, it’s now about some heart disease that needs to be cured but has no connection to the dinosaurs. But they still need the DNA of the largest dinosaurs from land, sea, and air for making the cure. Even the dinosaur expert said so!
Well, I don’t know where this expert received his education, but the fact that his museum had to close seems to me a logical consequence of his incompetence. You really don’t have to be a paleontologist to know that pterosaurs and marine reptiles simply aren’t dinosaurs.
Yet the movie still tries to feed us exactly that. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the terrible mini series "Dinotopia", where a Triceratops was called a hadrosaur. Apparently, they just assume the average audience is too dumb to notice such mistakes.
But why does it have to be these particular species? There used to be plenty of dinosaurs on the mainland. The reason? Because they can live especially long and because their hearts are so big. You really have to let that sink in! Even Roger Corman the creator of "Carnosaurus" would probably have found that too absurd.
And anyway: The supposed reason why all the dinosaurs on the mainland died is even more outrageous. The film tells us that the dinos suddenly couldn’t cope with climate change and extreme weather conditions, and within five years they were almost completely extinct on the mainland or had migrated to equatorial regions.
However, the dinosaurs in Dominion coped VERY WELL with the climate. The dinosaurs had adapted to our world. We saw Blue together with little Beta in the snow, and it didn’t bother them. In the world of Jurassic, life has always found a way and now suddenly it doesn’t? Now the environment is supposedly bad for them?
That was truly a very weak and completely unnecessary decision by the creators. So for this film, you have condemned all the dinosaurs living on the mainland to death?
But we haven’t even reached the end yet. The characters are all empty shells, without soul or emotion. They have hardly any backstory, and their motivation is mostly driven by money. You don’t worry about their lives because at no point do you form any connection with them. The one emotional “death” scene near the end had the potential to be really powerful, but the film still ruined it. The guy survived as if by a miracle, but how he managed it remains a mystery. No one will ever find out because the film assumes you will just applaud and not think about it.
You can especially notice Gareth Edwards’ influence in the creature design. His mutants would have fit perfectly in his Godzilla movie, but I don’t want to see that kind of thing in Jurassic World.
The whole storyline about the mutated dinosaurs feels ridiculous. It seems like they deliberately wanted to avoid the word “hybrids” from the previous movies, so they just slapped the label “mutant” on them instead.
What excited fans about the Spinosaurus, Rexy, or the Indominus Rex was that they were both terrifying and cool. It was thrilling to watch them fight through minor characters or face off against each other. There is absolutely nothing cool about the D-Rex. Its design isn’t even original. It actually looks like a Rancor from Star Wars, but not like something that could pass as a dinosaur. He barely adds anything to the story, other than breaking out at the beginning and popping up a few times near the end just to annoy the main characters.
Even the winged creatures, which apparently are meant to replace the velociraptors, are boring. The movie explains absolutely nothing about them. Their entire role feels like a lazy substitute for what originally made the raptors so iconic.
Speaking of raptors: Before the movie’s release, some leaked images surfaced online showcasing really cool raptor designs. They reminded me a lot of the male raptors from Jurassic Park 3. So I was sure they would play a bigger role in the movie. In the end, they were on screen for what felt like only ten seconds and that very scene made me really angry. I took this scene as a personal insult.
The film’s humor is simply nonexistent. It places the entire responsibility for comic relief on a single character, but it doesn’t work at all. The jokes are bad and they destroy any tension that might have been building. Later, the movie tries to give this character a kind of redemption arc so the audience will like him, but it fails at that too.
Are there any good elements? Yes, I really liked the T-Rex scene on the river, even though that scene originally came from the original book. In 1993, the special effects technology wasn’t advanced enough to portray something like that. The new spinosaurus also looked really interesting. I liked everything related to the “real” dinosaurs.
However, the negative elements of the film tarnish the overall impression. “Rebirth” shows no respect for the original and and suffers from a lack of good ideas and creativity. The kitchen scene from the first Jurassic Park was copied almost shot for shot, with the raptors merely replaced by those winged creatures.
They had shamelessly copied from other movies as well, including Indiana Jones, Jaws, and most notably Kong: Skull Island. In fact, the movie mostly gives off Skull Island vibes; only the soundtrack reminds us that we are actually watching a Jurassic World movie.
Furthermore, the product placement in this film is especially intrusive.
For me, this movie seriously messed up the lore and damaged the franchise. The plot and script are even weaker than those of Godzilla vs. Kong. “Rebirth” is Jurassic World in name only and doesn’t deserve its name. Yet, the movie’s impressive dinosaurs are the only thing that keeping it from vanishing into utter irrelevance.
I give the film 5 out of 10 points, and I’m still being generous. For me, this marks the sad low point of the Jurassic World series. This movie was unnecessary, and I definitely won’t be watching it a second time, let alone buying the DVD later. Maybe someday Hollywood will stop making movies for an ignorant audience. Maybe then they’ll finally take the time to write good, thoughtful plots again, with believable characters and create scenes that truly evoke something in us: inspiration, suspense, fear, joy, sorrow, or relief. But that day is still far away.

Jurassic World Dominion - Review
Posted 3 years agoWhen the first movie reviews for the third part of the Jurassic World series appeared on the internet, I had a feeling of déjà vu. Because the reviews from the media were just as negative as with "Fallen Kingdom", which I defended despite the difficulties the movie had.
Well, I've actually never paid much attention to what so-called professional critics say, but still, like the last time, I got scared because the Jurassic World universe means a lot to me. Now after I've watched the new movie, I have to say that it's not the total disaster like the media said, but there are still a lot of things to criticize about and in my opinion, “Dominion” is clearly the weakest movie of the Jurassic World trilogy.
The movie itself was an absolute nostalgia trip, which is mainly due to the return of the original actors like Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern, all of them have aged amazingly well.
Of course, the Jurassic World movies have always been associated with great nostalgia, after all, the great and still unsurpassed original will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.
And it was nice to see the old cast together again in a Jurassic movie, after so many years, but at the same time it's also a big problem, because of that there are two more or less independent storylines, which, however, come more and more together as the film progresses.
But instead of an adventure movie with a few science fiction elements, as was usually the case with the other Jurassic movies, "Dominion" has become a mixture between a spy movie and an eco-thriller with a socially critical message. Which was done rather awkwardly.
In fact, “Dominion” isn't so much about the dinosaurs. It’s about child abduction and genetically engineered giant locusts that posed an even greater threat to humanity than the dinosaurs themselves, because a new reserve had been found for the more "problematic" dinosaurs. So almost a kind of Isla Sorna 2.0, somewhere in the Italian dolomites, which somehow reminded me of the great valley from “The Land Before Time”.
Yes, there were even a lot of new dinosaurs shown that hadn't appeared in the previous movies before, and needless to say they all still look damn awesome. And for the first time you can even see feathered dinosaurs, probably to lure the feather Nazis to the movie theaters, because all of a sudden it was possible to recreate "purebred" dinosaurs, which had not worked before. However, we (the audience) were not told how they were able to fill in the gaps in the gene sequences.
Of the new dinosaurs, the Giganotosaurus really stood out for me, and he looked really cool. However, the showdown towards the end was one of the weakest I've ever seen in a JP/JW movie. Of course, there were also a lot of exaggerated scenes and I really don't want to call a Jurassic Park/World movie trash, but it was very hard at times.
As much as I appreciated seeing the original characters again, they don't make very good figures in this movie and were almost portrayed as a parody of themselves and at some point they even started to get on my nerves. I would have liked it more if the original cast only appeared as cameos, to gave the younger generation (Chris Pratt, etc.) more space and screentime.
Equally, if not even more parodically, was the main villain Lewis Dodgson, the greedy boss of a once again corrupt corporation. Who writes such stupid dialogues and who also approves them?! He was presented in such a comic-like way that I thought I was watching another episode of "Camp Cretaceous" (and no, I’m not a big fan of this show).
Let's get to one more thing: The Jurassic World movies have also always told the story of Blue. She was the first movie raptor to be established as a real character and as a result she became an absolute fan favorite. Her story continued in Fallen Kingdom, where she played a very central role, and I really liked that despite some of the issues that this movie also had. But since the animated series "Camp Cretaceous," it seems the JW creators didn't know what to do with her anymore, so they left her only as a supporting character.
I really wished for Blue to find a mate because in "Camp Cretaceous", (if that show is truly canon) it was shown that Blue is NOT the last living raptor, which we all somehow suspected. So it would have been no problem at all for the creators to finally give her a mate. She deserved it after all she had endured. But instead of that, exactly what I feared after watching Season 3 of "Camp Cretaceous" happened: the asexual reproduction of dinosaurs! Unfortunately, this brings back very negative memories of Roland Emmerich's "Godzilla", because I still hate this idea with a passion and I really didn't want to see something similar happening in JW3 and especially not with Blue.
But still, my heart melted when I saw Blue with little "Beta". I got tears in my eyes, which doesn't happen to me very often. I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF THIS!!! DAMN IT! But other than that, Blue doesn't play a big role in the movie, and that's really a shame. I previously thought that the movie would explore the relationship between humans and dinosaurs. There is so much that could have been done with the connection that still exists between Owen and Blue. But we didn't get any of that. The creators withheld that from us and so Blues story just feels unsatisfying and not fully told.
And apart from that, the whole movie doesn't really feel like the conclusion of a movie series at all. The end wasn't left totally open but it still feels like something is missing. Which leads me to the conclusion that “Dominion” won't be the last film in the franchise. The movie-goers will probably decide about its future…
Despite the criticism and the things, I absolutely disliked, I'm still very, very generous and give with two narrowed eyes.

I don't know if you are into Transformers. I was recently watching „War for Cybertron“ on Netflix and there was this awesome cliffhanger at the end of season 2.

Godzilla 2 - King of the Monsters
Posted 6 years agoGodzilla 2 „King of the Monsters“ ist die direkte Fortsetzung des 2014 erschienenen US Godzilla Films und der 3. Film des sogenannten MonsterVerse, zu welchem auch „Kong: Skull Island“ gehört.
Regie führte diesmal nicht Gareth Edwards, sondern „Krampus“- Regisseur Michael Dougherty, der für diesen Film genau der richtige Mann war. Es gibt mehr Action, mehr Mythologie, mehr Krachbumm. Das CGI und die Tricktechnik sind dabei zeitgemäß auf allerhöchstem Niveau und machen inzwischen Monsterschlachten möglich, die früher undenkbar gewesen sind. Dabei finde ich trotz der vielen Action, dass die Schlachten nie zu unübersichtlich werden.
Die Riege der Monster kann sich sehen lassen und ist praktisch ein Wiedersehen alter Bekannter: Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan und King Ghidorah. Dieses Gespann trat zum 1. Mal 1964 in „Ghidorah the three headed Monster“ in Erscheinung und spätestens daran merkt man schon gleich wo die Reise hingehen wird: Ein Monstergekloppe, mit epischen ausmaß. Und ja, Godzilla ist auf jeden Fall öfters im Film zu sehen, als im vergleichsweise „ruhigen“ Vorgänger. Ich fand auch generell, dass den einzelnen Ungeheuern eine angemessene Screentime zuteil wurde. Es gibt zwar im späteren Verlauf des Films noch ein paar weitere Kreaturen, die allerdings keine allzu große Rolle spielten. Der Hauptfokus liegt in jedem Fall bei den vier namentlichen Ungeheuern.
Das Design der Kreaturen ist wirklich fantastisch und das Beste überhaupt! Besonders angetan war ich von King Ghidorah. Meine Fresse, sah der toll aus! Er ist ja schon seit Jahr und Tag mein Lieblingsgegner von Godzi gewesen, aber noch nie zuvor hatte er jemals so gut ausgesehen. Kam superfies und herrlich grimmig rüber. Aber die Verneigung ( ;) ) vor der „Showa Reihe“ merkt man auch ziemlich gut an den zahlreichen Hinweisen und „Easter Eggs“. Da wären z.B. die Mothra Zwillinge, der Oxygen Zerstörer, oder Ghirdorahs anfängliche Bezeichnung als „Monster Zero“.
Man kann wirklich davon ausgehen, dass es sich bei den Machern des Films um echte Godzilla Fans handelte, die richtig Bock drauf hatten, denn der Film ist eine einzige Liebeserklärung an den Kaiju Eiga und das ist an allen Ecken spürbar. Man ist dem Original mit so viel Liebe und Respekt gegenüber getreten, dass es eine reine Freude ist. Ja, man fühlte sich wieder wie mit 8 oder 9 Jahren. Herr Emmerich, falls Sie das hier lesen sollten: SO macht man einen Godzilla Film!
Was ich auch noch sehr hervorheben möchte ist der geniale Soundtrack! Und YESSS! Der Godzilla Marsch ist zurück! Was habe ich ihn im Vorgängerfilm vermisst. Zwar handelte es sich um eine etwas „modernisiertere“ Version, die aber sehr geil klang. Absoluter Gänsehautmoment, als dieses Stück gespielt wurde. Wäre ich nah am Wasser gebaut, hätte ich angefangen zu heulen.

Aber handelt es sich denn auch um den besten Godzilla Film aller Zeiten, wie ich es in meinem Review zu Godzilla 1 gemutmaßt habe?! Nun, das Original von 1954 stellt er zwar nicht in den Schatten, es ist aber der bislang beste AMERIKANISCHE Godzilla Film aller Zeiten und der wird sich auch definitiv zu meinen Lieblings G-Filmen einreihen und jeder, der sich als Godzilla Fan bezeichnet, sollte ebenfalls diesen Film gesehen haben.
Auf die Frage, warum ich diesem Film 9,5 von 10 Punkten gebe und keine volle 10, so liegt das nicht etwa an Godzilla, oder den Ungeheuern. Es liegt an den menschlichen Schauspielern, die ich zum Teil richtig schrecklich fand. Vor allem werfen manche Charaktere mit Sprüchen um die Ohren (auch in Gefahrensituationen), die wohl witzig sein sollten, aber an Peinlichkeit kaum zu übertreffen waren. Die einzigen Charaktere die mich überzeugen konnten, waren Dr. Serizawa, den man schon aus dem 1. Teil kannte und Tywin Lannister, ähm ich meinte natürlich Alan Jonah, der als Antagonist auftrat. Hätte man einige Personenszenen gekürzt wäre wohl eine 10 drin gewesen. Und ja… die Handlung war auch ein bisschen an den Haaren herbeigezogen und genauso die Schicksale einiger Charaktere, welche einem überhaupt nicht interessierte, aber das traf doch schließlich auf fast jedem Godzilla Film zu.
Mir hat der Film jedenfalls super gut gefallen. Wirklich enttäuscht hatte mich nur die geringe Anzahl an Kinogängern.

Regie führte diesmal nicht Gareth Edwards, sondern „Krampus“- Regisseur Michael Dougherty, der für diesen Film genau der richtige Mann war. Es gibt mehr Action, mehr Mythologie, mehr Krachbumm. Das CGI und die Tricktechnik sind dabei zeitgemäß auf allerhöchstem Niveau und machen inzwischen Monsterschlachten möglich, die früher undenkbar gewesen sind. Dabei finde ich trotz der vielen Action, dass die Schlachten nie zu unübersichtlich werden.

Meine Meinung zu Jurassic World: Fallen Kindom
Posted 7 years agoDas Warten hatte nun endlich ein Ende! Der zweite Teil der Jurassic World Trilogie, mit dem Titel "Das gefallene Königreich" erschien am 6. Juni 2018 und ist inzwischen der 5. Teil aus der gesamten Jurassic Park Reihe.
Und ich muss zugeben, dass ich zunächst große Angst bekommen habe, dass ich "Das gefallene Königreich" genauso scheisse finden könnte, wie Star Wars 8, der eine völlige Katastrophe ist. Die ersten Filmkritiken zu JW 2 gingen auch ziemlich weit auseinander und zu einem großen Teil hatte der Film viele negative Kritiken einstecken müssen und nach dem überragenden Jurassic World von 2015, der meiner Meinung nach nur noch von dem original getoppt wird, waren meine Erwartungen an JW2 natürlich entsprechend hoch. Glücklicherweise wurde ich nicht enttäuscht. In der Tat hat der Film einige Schwächen und er war nicht ganz so gut, wie der Vorgänger und es gab auch so einige Dinge, die für mich keinen Sinn ergaben. Ich würde ihn sehr wahrscheinlich auf die selbe Stufe stellen, wie Jurassic Park 2. Aber "Das gefallene Königreich" ist immer noch sehr weit davon entfernt, ein Scheissfilm zu sein.
Und wo ich gerade schon Jurassic Park 2 anspreche, so hat JW 2 zumindest am Anfang noch ein paar sehr große Ähnlichkeiten zu dem 97er Film. Er ist ähnlich actionreich und rasant und selbst Claire erinnerte mich sehr stark an Sarah Harding (sie trägt sogar eine ganz ähnliche Frisur). Aber später nimmt der Film eine interessante Wendung und schlägt einen Weg ein, den man nicht unbedingt erwartet hatte. "Das gefallene Königreich" entpuppte sich als düsterer, als alle Jurassic Park Teile zuvor und war auch sehr emotional. Ich werde in diesem Review nichts spoilern, aber Leute, die nah am Wasser gebaut sind, werden bei manchen Szenen anfangen zu heulen.
Was mir an dem Film wirklich super gut gefallen hat, war wie verdammt geil die Dinos wieder ausgesehen haben. Da haben sie im Vergleich zum Vorgänger noch eine gewaltige Schüppe draufgelegt. Was auch daran lag, dass man wieder vermehrt mit Animatronics gearbeitet hat und das tat dem Film wirklich sehr gut. Es sieht einfach atemberaubend aus. Darum muss so ein Film unbedingt im Kino gesehen werden. Denn nur auf der großen Leinwand kommt das alles richtig zur Geltung.
Und dann gibt es da noch eine gewisse tierische Heldin, auf die ich mich die ganze Zeit über total gefreut hatte und das ist natürlich Blue! Und OMFG!!! Diese kleine Raptorin rockt einfach die Bude! Das ist unfassbar, JW 2 mag vielleicht etwas schwächer geworden zu sein, aber Blue ist besser geworden. Ich habe jeden ihrer Momente gefeiert. Ihre Babyaufnahmen hätten mir beinahe die Tränen in die Augen gebracht und glaubt mir, dass passiert bei mir nicht oft. Nach Jurassic World hatte sie ohnehin bereits einen Platz in meinem Herzen erobert, aber spätestens jetzt ist sie für mich anbetungswürdig. Und da muss ich den Machern nochmal meinen größten Respekt aussprechen. Was mich an den früheren JP Filmen immer gestört hat, war das Bild der bösen Fleischfresser. Raptoren waren in Jurassic Park 1 und 2 reine Filmmonster ohne Persönlichkeit, die sich auf alles gestürzt haben, was sich bewegte und das hatte sich für mich immer falsch angefühlt, obwohl sie toll aussahen. Ab Teil 3 hatte sich das erstmals geändert und man konnte das Verhalten der Raptoren dort absolut nachvollziehen. Aber mit dem 1. Jurassic World hatte man das nochmal auf eine ganz neue Ebene gebracht und Blue fühlt sich einfach echt an. Eigentlich beinahe genau so, wie ich Raptoren überhaupt sehe. Die sind wirklich sehr nah dran und alleine durch Blue gewinnt der Film schon eine ganze Menge. Als krasses Gegenstück zu Blue haben wir in JW 2 den Indoraptor, also eine Mischung aus Indominus Rex und Velo und der ist kalt, brutal und ohne Persönlichkeit. Also vom Wesenszug her eigentlich genau so wie ein Raptor, aus JP1 bzw. 2. Hier könnte man durchaus sagen, trifft das Alte auf das Neue.
Die Schwächen des Films, sind keinesfalls bei den Dinos zu finden, ganz im Gegenteil. Dafür aber bei den menschlichen Figuren und manche sind fast schon unterirdisch klischeehaft. Außer Ian Malcom (der eigentlich nur sehr kurz in Erscheinung tritt und keine wirkliche Hauptfigur darstellt) und Owen Grady.
Ja... dann war die gute Claire auch wieder mit dabei. In Jurassic World war sie für mich ein rotes Tuch und ich mochte ihren Charakter überhaupt nicht. Aber nun hatte sie eine wunderbare Entwicklung von einer empathielosen Geschäftsfrau zu einer Tierschützerin durchlaufen und diese Entwicklung nehme ich ihr nicht so ohne weiteres ab. Ich hätte es viel lieber gesehen, dass Owen diese Rettungsaktion für Dinos leitet. Da ihm aber zu Anfangs das Schicksal der Dinos gleichgültig erschien, musste er von Claire erst überzeugt werden. Da konnte man sich nur an den Kopf fassen und fragen: "Warum, Owen?!"
Dann war da der trottelige Computer Nerd, der wirklich nur genervt hat und man froh war, wenn er mal sein Maul hielt. Ein überaus platter Bösewicht. Aber gut, platte Bösewichte gab es auch in den vorigen Filmen. Da wären Peter Ludlow aus Teil 2, oder Vic Hoskins aus Jurassic World zu nennen und mit dem neuen Bösewicht schlägt man in eine ganz ähnliche Kerbe. Diesmal war auch wie immer ein Kind mit von der Partie, doch dieses Mädchen, nervte sonderbarerweise überhaupt nicht und war sogar sehr sympathisch.
Alles in allem, ist der Film bei weitem nicht so schlecht, wie er derzeit von den Medien gemacht wird. Jeder sollte sich von dem Film ein eigenes Bild machen und meins ist sehr positiv ausgefallen, auch wenn es der Film nicht geschafft hat, den Vorgänger zu übertreffen.
Dennoch hat der Film einige sehr tolle Momente und gerade gegen Ende nimmt er nochmal richtig an Fahrt auf und überrascht mit einem sehr offenem und unerwartetem Ende, welches die Reihe in eine völlig neue Richtung lenken wird. Das macht jetzt schon Lust auf den 3. Teil, denn noch nie war der Spruch "das Leben findet einen Weg" von solch großer Bedeutung.

Es war sehr viel Arbeit! Sogar soviel das ich noch nicht mal mehr zum Schreiben meiner Geschichte gekommen bin. Es waren eine ganze Menge an Texten zu bearbeiten und natürlich eine komplette Neugestaltung der Godzilla-Sektion.
Jetzt ist sie soweit fertig und ich hoffe doch sehr, dass sie euch gefällt.

Da der Juni, dank Jurassic World eh von uns Dinos beherrscht wird, wollte ich die HP diesen Monat unbedingt noch online stellen. Aus dem Grund sind viele Bereiche auch noch nicht zugänglich, aber das wird sich mit der Zeit natürlich noch ändern. Schaut also immer mal wieder rein!
Und ja, es ist kein Schreibfehler: Dort oben steht nun ".de" und nicht mehr "de.vu"! ;)

Meine Gedanken zu Jurassic World
Posted 10 years agoNach zweimaligen Anschauen des Films fühle ich mich nun halbwegs in der Lage etwas über den Film zu berichten.
In meinem Review zu Jurassic Park 3 hatte ich ja damals noch geschrieben, dass eine eventuelle Fortsetzung der Reihe entweder DER absolute Oberhammer schlecht hin sein wird, der alle bisherigen Teile in den Schatten stellt, oder der peinlichste Megaflop der Filmgeschichte.
Als ich gelesen habe, das Steven Spielberg abermals nicht auf dem Regiestuhl sitzen wird, war ich skeptisch, da ich glaubte, Jurassic Park könne nicht ohne Spielberg als Regisseur funktionieren (Siehe Jurassic Park 3). Als ich die allerersten Fotos von den Dreharbeiten zu Jurassic World gesehen habe, war ich schon mal der Meinung, dass bisher alles ziemlich gut aussieht, aber was bedeuten schon ein paar Fotos? Nachdem ich den ersten Trailer gesehen habe, dachte ich: "Das wird etwas richtig Großes!" und meine Zweifel wurden von Mal zu Mal weniger. Ich war aufgeregt, wie vor über 20 Jahren, als ich zum ersten Mal Jurassic Park im Kino gesehen habe. Ein solches Gefühl hatte ich bei einem Film schon seit Jahren nicht mehr gehabt (selbst nicht bei Godzilla).
Ich muß sagen, dass meine Erwartungen sogar noch weit übertroffen wurden. Jurassic World stellte für mich tatsächlich alle bisherigen Jurassic Park Teile in den Schatten, mit Ausnahme von Teil 1, der bis heute natürlich unübertroffen ist. Wer hätte gedacht, dass Jurassic World ohne Spielberg als Regisseur tatsächlich funktionieren würde?!
Kurioserweise fühlt sich Jurassic World gar nicht wie ein 4. Teil an, sondern wie eine direkte Fortsetzung von Teil 1. Die Ereignisse von Teil 2 und 3 finden im neuen Film überhaupt gar keine Erwähnung.
Bekannte Schauspieler gab es in dem Film relativ wenig. Außer vielleicht Chris Pratt, in der Rolle von Owen Grady. Mir hat seine schauspielerische Leistung in "Guardians of the Galaxies" bereits sehr gefallen und ich bin mir sicher, dass dieser Typ noch eine große Karriere vor sich hat. Als einzige Figur aus dem Original tauchte lediglich der Genetiker Dr. Wu wieder auf, der allerdings eine extrem fragwürdige Entwicklung durchgemacht hat und dessen Tendenzen schon wirklich als kriminell zu bezeichnen sind.
Dann gibt es noch die Figur der Claire Dearing, die quasi als weiblicher John Hammond auftritt und ich muß an dieser Stelle einwerfen, dass ich einfach diese stocksteifen Frauen mit ihren Prinz Eisenherz-Frisuren mit totaler Abscheu hasse. Die erinnern mich alle an meine Klassenlehrerin aus der Grundschule oder an meine ehemalige Chefin aus dem Kaufhof. Genau so eine Person ist Claire Dearing und Erschreckenderweise sind diese furchtbaren Frauen fast alle gleich!
Aber kommen wir zu den Dinos, den eigentlichen Stars des Films, weswegen man ihn sich in erster Linie ansieht. Ich finde es toll, dass man wirklich versucht hat, dem 1. Teil gerecht zu werden. Die Dinos sehen alle super aus! Rexy aus Teil 1 ist auch wieder mit dabei. Neu ist der Indominus Rex. Ein Dinosaurier, den es eigentlich nie gab. "Zusammengebastelt" aus dem Genmaterial verschiedenster Tiere. Sie wirkt auch abgrundtief böse.
Und die Raptoren? Meine Fresse, die RAPTOREN! O_O O_O
Ich könnte sie allesamt auf der Stelle heiraten und Seitenweise darüber schreiben, wie dermaßen geil die in dem Film sind, aber das würde bedeuten, den Film zu spoilern, denn die spielen nämlich eine sehr wichtige Rolle. Beschränken wir uns also einfach nur darauf, dass ich im Kino mit einem sehr fetten Grinsen im Gesicht gesessen habe und mir gleichzeitig zum Lachen, aber auch zum Weinen zumute war. Das sollte eigentlich reichen, um zu beschreiben, wie sehr mich der Film platt gemacht hat.
Fazit: Ganz großes Kino, was mir da geliefert wurde. Dafür gebe ich gerne mein Geld her! Und Leute, wartet nicht erst darauf, bis es den Film auf DVD gibt. Guckt ihn euch auf der großen Leinwand an, solange er noch läuft!

"Godzilla 2014" - Review

Remakes (oder "Reboots", wie das moderne Wort heute lautet) sind immer so eine Sache. Manche waren zum Teil ganz ordentlich, andere sogar besser als das Original. Man denke da zum Beispiel nur mal an "Das Ding aus einer anderen Welt" von John Carpenter aus dem Jahre 1982. Aber sehr viele Remakes waren auch eine totale Katastrophe, die den Originalen in keinster Weise gerecht wurden, wie z.B. die neue "Conan" Verfilmung, "Total Recall", oder das ganz furchtbare "RoboCop" Remake, welches die Welt nun wirklich nicht braucht.
Wie verhält sich das denn beim neusten Godzilla Film?
Dieser Frage bin ich natürlich nachgegangen und gerade weil es sich um den 2. Versuch einer amerikanischen Godzilla Produktion handelt, hat mich die Antwort darauf brennend interessiert.

Extreme Dinosaurs in german
Posted 17 years agoYay! Finaly my TV-Card works (thanks to Spino!). Now, i'm able to upload the german version of my favourite cartoon on Youtube!
