IMVU Disclaimer?
Posted 10 years agoGuys, this type of thing has been floating around for years on Facebook. Posting a disclaimer in a journal doesn't do jack shit for you, sorry to rain on your parade. I work entirely with lawyers and law firms in the intellectual property industry and I've asked plenty of them about these types of disclaimers. Don't get lulled into a false sense of security, you're still bound by the same terms and agreement until they change it.
Selling my v1.0 Subaroo fursuit head
Posted 11 years agoHey guys, if you know of anyone in need of a fursuit head but didn't quite have the means to commission one, I'm selling my v1.0 head. Please spread the word, I hope this goes to someone who will appreciate it and treat it well until they have a suit of their own. Please spread the word to people you know and can vouch for. Asking maybe $100 plus shipping? If that's unreasonable, speak up.

I'm not dead
Posted 12 years agoI haven't done anything on here in a while but only because I've been way too busy with car/house stuff. There's always something to do on the house especially because I'm redoing my basement. As far as cars go, the rally car is having some fabrication work done and it probably won't make it in time for FF. The murderwagon is sitting about four or five inches higher than it was when I bought it, but that's been a journey and a half too.

Posted 12 years agoToothless is High Maintenance
Posted 12 years agoThe other day as I was driving to an appointment to get the rally car an alignment, the upper radiator hose decided to get acquainted with the alternator pulley. I didn't have time to deal with it myself so I had the shop do it for me. They did a few other things and gave the car a once-over but all in all, it came to $350.
And now on top of that, my turbo is probably on its way out, so I have to swap that. The car is also leaking out of the valve covers, so I have those gaskets to replace too. As if that wasn't enough, the rear catalytic converter flange is now leaking! Because racecar = money pit.

Scary Subaru?
Posted 12 years agoSo I've had this build in mind for a while now for the Legacy: a few years ago I came across a junkyard EG33 (3.3L 6-cyl boxer engine) from a Subaru SVX. I have to admit, the SVX was not a particularly remarkable car in any aspect except that the sluggish automatic transmissions often died an early, dishonorable death. However, the engine itself is one of the most overbuilt Subaru NA engines, imo, and when developed, rumor has it Subaru actually sent the blueprints to Porsche for some inspiration since Porsche had a similar engine in production around the same time in their 911 turbo (3.3L horizontally-opposed 6-cylinder boxer engine). How's that for a slice of fried gold?
This engine doesn't come with a turbo but my plan has been to boost it (with twins, in fact!) I've been researching for years the best way to go about doing this and I think I finally have all my ducks in a row...yesterday I had an engine management system priced out and a standalone was going to be about $1750 best-case scenario; that didn't fly. But today I found a company that sells remapped SVX ECU's so I got in touch with them about their Stage 2 offering, good up to 400hp. I wasn't thrilled about being limited to that cap, but when they responded, I was told that they had a Stage 3 offering that they don't post on the site, good for over 500hp but it requires twin turbos with separate intakes (the engine actually has dual throttle bodies...it's that thirsty for air).
The best part, this remapped ECU only runs about $500. Now that I have all of the hardware lined up, I'm going to start putting this build in motion. Hopefully nothing else will come up to throw me for a loop...but I'm not going to bet on that. A lot of people write off this engine as worthless but the more research I do, the more I find that this engine is just ASKING to become a boosted monster. As a rule of thumb, Subaru 4-cylinder engines are considered "sane" up to 400hp so it only stands to reason that I should be able to push 500hp+ on this engine without stressing it too much? Hopefully this car will be ready for the 2014 Furfright car show!

Posted 12 years agoWant to win a commission?
Posted 13 years agoI'm prepared to give a prize to whoever refers a buyer to me who then purchases a car I'm selling. In other words, tell your friend about the car I'm selling, send him/her my way, if he/she buys it, I will send $50 to an artist on FA of your choosing. If you wanted to donate it to someone, that would be fine too, or get a ref sheet and I'll pay up to $50. You can also have me send $25 to one artist, and $25 to another but I will not split up the $50 more than two ways.
Now, about the car: it's a 2004 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with 140k miles on it, all new rear brakes/hardware, new timing belt kit with water pump and thermostat, and new fuel filler neck. The KBB value of this car in very good condition is $5,742 and it's definitely at least in "very good" condition. Interested buyers should send me a note for price and negotiation.
Thanks for reading!

The rally car is home and holy s**t...
Posted 13 years ago...it is properly quick. For being a stock 227hp WRX engine, it hauls a** because the power-to-weight ratio is close to that of an STi. It's also scary as hell because at the moment, there are no seatbelts, no airbags (obviously) and the brakes need replacing.
I drove the car home yesterday and on the highway I went from 60 to 100 in the blink of an eye.

Want to ride along in a racecar?
Posted 13 years agoIn case anyone on here is interested, once the rally car is ready in a few weeks, I'll be getting back into races. If anyone is interested in riding along in rallycross or autocross events, please get in touch with me. Depending on the amount of interest I get, I may charge $5 or $10 per run, but probably not more than that. In any given rallycross event, one "run" is usually a couple minutes through a cone course in a field and even though the car doesn't ever get going that fast, I promise you it is intense when you're inside the vehicle. An event usually takes up an entire day and consists of six to eight runs.
Rallycross and autocross courses are usually designed to keep cars well under highway speeds. My car is also equipped with a roll cage and safety harnesses, and you will be provided with a helmet. The chance of you getting injured in one of these events is very very small.
I may open up for hillclimbs in the future, but for now I will not take passengers on those races due to a significant risk of injury or in some cases death from flying into the woods at 70+ mph.

First Journal, Update on FF 2012
Posted 13 years agoSo as some of you may or may not know, as of last week, the chances of me making it to FF this year were slim. For those of you who don't know, I've been spending roughly 30 hours per week with my dad, rewiring my entire house. Mind you, this is on top of the normal 40-hour work week that I put in at Big Blue computer company; so yes, I've been working about 70 hours per week for the last month, hoping that I'll be done in time to go to FF.
Anyway, the latest is that I might actually be able to go to FF! Things are moving along at a decent pace and my dad and I are going to be working all day Saturday and Sunday to get as much done as possible. Granted, it is my house and I could very easily just fuck off for the weekend and go to FF anyway, but there's a certain amount of responsibility that comes with being a homeowner. The decision to possibly turn down FF has always been mine to make.
One thing is for certain, I am now beginning to understand why the electrician quoted us $10,000 for this job; it sucks. Luckily, when you put money into a house, you generally get the value back when you sell it (unlike a car, which is the worst possible investment you could make).
