I haven't made a lot of journals about a lot of things lately. It's been a rough streak. But with today's news I think I'm done with FA. Which it really, REALLY pains me to say. I've held out hope for this site, for the Admins to maybe, just MAYBE take a look at what they were doing after Dragoneer passed. It was a shock to the community as a whole, and I thought maybe this would make some of these admins put aside their differences, and try to unify behind Dragoneer's vision for the site.

I have never been more sorely disappointed.

It was clear that the only reason the site was holding together as well as it was was Dragoneer keeping more ban happy admins in some sort of check. Admins would slam for callouts if I named them but it has been made clear that the spirit of Fur Affinity died with Dragoneer and that the individuals involved in policy making have absolutely spit on Dragoneer's legacy.

That banner up top rings really hollow with today's announcement.

It wasn't perfect, but it was what we had. It's clear that "community" doesn't mean much to the current moderation team. It seems Dragoneer was the "dad", keeping it together, for the family. And now he's gone, and so is any sense of community that was.

I'm not going to 100% abandon or delete my art or anything... but I will definitely be leaning more into inkbunny as a primary home. The community there is absolutely better (not perfect, but better, feels more like late 2000's - early 2010's FA)

Given the number of furs that I am friends with who have had their accounts hit in the last few weeks, I figure it prudent to update this with more current info. It will be my featured journal, and I have added it to my bio as well.

I'm doing better than ever after my recent unplanned, non-optional, vacation.
Much to come from me over the next few weeks and months, but I will be keeping this account up, but cultivating a following off site as well.
I realize keeping all my eggs in one basket has problems, and it has kept me very safe and conservative in my art postings.

I'm not dead, just been busier than all hell with my job lately.

Some of you may have noticed I've not posted much lately. It started out as lack of time but quickly mushroomed into not wanting to post for fear of missing something, and the just the overall backlog created. I'm going to be trying to post allot of stuff I've missed, it probably won't be in order, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss some of it. I've been closing in on 40,000 page views as of late, and I've always wanted to do a thank you to my watchers. I'm unfortunately not really good at drawing, or animating, or modeling or such.
What I plan to do this time:

Capture my 40,000th view, and I will hammer out a commission idea with you, artist of your choice provided they draw the content, are willing to work with me, provided the total for the piece doesn't go over $80. I will pay for the commission.

Rules:
1. The content of the image must be fine to post publicly on FA, it's a thank you to all my watchers. By taking the challenge, you accept that it will be posted to FA.
2. The commission will include one of my cast of characters. From there we can work out the details of content and such. This would be preferred if it's partially in the vein of my normal content, but I'm willing to try new things.
3. I need a screenshot of my page with a with the clock in the image, and the number 40,000 under pageviews.

Seeing as it is a time to reflect back on past years, I just wanted to take the time to put to words something I've realized as of late.

I just wanted to thank each and every one of you. Over the last few years this fandom has been a source of support for me. A hand to help me up so to speak as I dealt with a bunch of real world issues.

First a lil history:
I started using the word furry in 2004, and for years I went on being the person I was told I should be by family, rl friends, and local society. Judgmental and ignorant. For bunch of years I felt very uncomfortable around other furs, or at least I felt that I should feel that way, having "learned" to treat people who were different than me with ire. I've gotten to meet a bunch of different people from almost as many lifestyles over the years, each one I've met chipping away at the hard shell of "dehumanization of the other". I started to realize the "others" I had been taught to fear and disdain were just other people, not really all that different from me after all.

Second:
As the shell started to crack, it became clear the ideas I held to be true were cracking as well. I started to realize things about myself that I had kept so repressed from myself I hadn't even acknowledged they existed. For a long time this made my life so much worse as I didn't know who I was anymore. This is where the fandom has been even more shining, my friends provided an absolutely needed hand to support, soundboard talk to, shoulder to cry on, and ear to vent into for years. I wouldn't be here without the support I've had in spades from all of you.

Finally:
I've finally figured out how to get my head around who I am, the work isn't completely done yet, but I'm am now more truly sure about who I am than I have ever been. It takes time to come to grips with the fact of who I was before, and take account of all the assumptions still left over before. I want to thank you all for sticking with me despite the amount of rantiness and venting I've done in the past. My "New years resolutions" so to speak for this year are:
1.) To end next year more "me" than the start of the year.
2.) To continue to refine my sense of the world and morals.
3.) To try and treat as many people as I can with respect.
