2019 - BOOM BABY!
Posted 7 years ago2018 was a veeeeery long year in which I tackled a few BIG art projects (as you can see from my gallery) and got a bit burnt out at times. I had to wait long periods of time before I could upload pieces due to the project format, which wasn't very exciting for you, nor very positively reinforcing for myself as an artist. :/
2019 is going to be a year in which I am going to try a more steady pace - more personal art, more commissions and more RELAXING through art in general. :)
I intend to tackle at least three or four themed projects (small ones LULS) to keep things interesting during this year and to keep me motivated! Some of the projects will include small runs of commissions which might interest some of you. Please get on the bus and come with me!

Posted 8 years agoLet's get that reeeeaaally old journal off my page.
I am finally getting back into arting. It is a definite combo of a new tablet (of which the first one was defective & I had to wait 6months for a replacement) and SAI Paint Tool (which is really amazing & allows me a lot of freedom). I am truly amazed at the results I am getting! I hope that as my confidence grows with my new tools, I will be able to produce more complex pieces in future.
I am involved in quite a few exciting projects and I hope to share the work I do for those as they are finalised. I also intend to take on a fair amount of commissions to plow back into my local charities.
In short - watch this space! (Please... XD )

One character engaging in some cute activity or situation. Although I appreciate pose suggestions, I produce excellent results when given artistic liberty. You can add additional characters (up to 2) for $15 each. If you have a very complex character, please contact me directly so that we can discuss the price.

Sick Days, Bored Days...
Posted 10 years agoEeefff... been booked off sick for two days. Slept most of today & I'm feeling somewhat human again, but I'd like to at least pretend that I'm productive while laying around. I'd like to shake off some rust, but my brain is like "NOPE" on ideas for poses. I'm thinking I might just do some very general poses to use as el cheapo icons/YCH type things. Suggestions/ideas very welcome.

It has been a while! Sorry for the long silence. 2015 has hit me right between the eyes from day one. Came back to the office with new legislation that will entirely change the way we have to deal with our work & will put a lot of pressure on my small team. We are ready for the challenge (my people rock so hardcore!) & I have started putting systems/projects in place to get us geared up BUT our BigBoss just doesn't seem to "get" how important it is to have a running start. She keeps diverting my team's energy to other things which is really frustrating. :(
Due to court attendance (& court appraisals of my team members), I spent more than half my working days this month not-at-work. Had to travel all over the country the past few weeks - I've been bone tired! Basically spent my weekends sleeping.
Good news is that my hard work has paid off! One of my cases got sentenced to 1535 years imprisonment & the other got sentenced to 7 x life imprisonment. Both are excellent results & I'm very proud of everyone who took part in the investigation.
Even better news is that it is my birthday next week, Saturday! :) After that it is less than 6 weeks until I get to see my significant other again after almost a year apart. <3 Can't wait to take an extended break from work.

HOLIDAY HIATUS & GENERAL STATUS

I have been neglecting FA for the past few weeks due largely to being "promoted" (an acting position - so no pay, but all the responsibility) to the national commander for my team. It means a lot of meetings and crisis management that is tapping most of my motivation. I have some art that's been waiting to be uploaded but I just haven't gotten around to it.
My social calendar has also exploded! I am fully booked every weekend up until the new year - SO MUCH FUN WAITING! But this means that my weekends are a cycle of partying & recovering.
With all this in mind, commissions, trades, requests etc etc are closed for the foreseeable future. Almost everything that is currently on my plate (a couple of commissions, trades & gifts) will be finished by the beginning of December, but after that I will be on hiatus until 2015.
Let's get this festive season started! :)

ARTIST HOLIDAY CARD EXCHANGE
Posted 11 years agoI looooove getting paper cards for the holidays (despite not being religious at all!). Would anyone want to exchange such cards? I think it might even be fun to have a Secret Santa type of exchange if more than 10 people are interested. I've organised such card exchanges with great success in the past & they were always hella-fun!
THE CONCEPT:
1. I obviously think that most people are quite busy as the year comes to an end, so I propose sending store bought cards with some kind of artistic personalisation included (a sketch, a poem, a drabble etc - anything that you feel comfortable doing).
2. Any person, at any level of artistic skill, from any country can participate. This is about giving & receiving something cool in the mail!
3. We will have to rely on the integrity of each individual person to make good on the commitment they make to the other participants.
4. Cards will have to be in the mail by the first week of December to ensure that they reach their recipients in time. It is a busy mailing month after all!
5. If you're still interested, Note me the following info:
- Your mailing address (only myself & your Secret Santa(s) will see it)
- A theme for your personalisation. This can be something associated with the holidays or lyrics from a song or a phrase etc etc. Something that'll make you smile!
- You can additionally include info about your personal character and how they'd react to your theme but remember that it is up to the artist what they'll depict & in what medium/media.
- How many cards would you like to send. I can obviously not guarantee that you'll get the same number back, but giving is the spirit of the season!
- Added suggestion: Give the rating (SFW/NSFW) you'd like to receive & create (these can of course be different!)
6. I will accept participants up until 7th of November 2014, 11pm (GMT) - COUNTDOWN
Any suggestions are welcome! I hope that I will at the very least have some victims to send cards to! <3

New graphics tablet - suggestions?
Posted 11 years agoI'm making good progress on the previous round of work and hope to be all finished by the end of the week. :) Let's keep our fingers crossed!
In other news, I'd like a new (more portable) graphics tablet. My current tablet is an ancient WACOM Digitizer II (I think), which I got second hand from a friend. It is still in perfect working order but I'm afraid that more advanced technology will soon start refusing to talk to it (like our stuck-up laptop with it's preloaded Windows 8 OS has already done).
So my question is what kind of cheap, light, functional graphics tablet would you recommend, where can I find one or even whether you have a slightly newer model you'd like to sell. I don't do hectically detailed digital painting, so I basically need a tablet accurate enough to vector with. Can be quite small (I don't need 9 x 12!! My current tablet is approx 4 × 5!).

Client survey
Posted 11 years agoI'm slowly saving up towards a big goal, but the first hitch is that I have to do it via PayPal and the second hitch is that my country doesn't allow me to transfer funds to PayPal. Since I am reliant on commissions to get funds into my PayPal account and my time for art is woefully limited, I basically want to know WHAT ARE CLIENTS LOOKING FOR? :)
I've considered the following:
- "normal" commissions like I've always done
- "I Like..." icons which were great fun but meant long periods staring at computer screen
- Adoptables (no experience here... buh)
- Furry Folios (basically a small ref sheet you can hand to artists at conventions which contains all the info needed to draw in your sketchbook or do a sketch commission)
- Other suggestions welcome in comments

World - you disappoint me...
Posted 11 years agoWow, got majorly burned in an online purchase. Firstly, the item was sent to the wrong address despite my confirming the address and, secondly, the item is completely unsuited for the purpose it was sold for. I sincerely thought there had been a manufacturing mistake, but nope - seller basically said "fuck you & thanks for the money!" when I asked. It would cost four times the initial price to get it into a practically usable condition, so it just isn't worth pursuing.

Sorry for the delay in commissions and trades. I returned from my holiday over the weekend and I'm pleased to report that all sketches are complete and awaiting completion. :) When I got to work on Monday I was informed that I had to be at a work-related conference this week! @___@ I only returned late yesterday, but will hopefully be left alone this weekend to do fun things like colouring!
Very excited about posting up the new art when it is ready!

Posted 11 years agoI've got a week's holiday coming up in August and decided that some art will be just the thing to help me relax maximally! :) Open for simple commissions to kickstart the creative juices.
WHAT YOU GET:
A pencil sketch that will feature 1 (one) character engaging in some cute activity or situation. Although I appreciate pose suggestions, I like going my own way (trust me, the results are better).
WHAT I NEED:
Reply here or via note or via email with reference pictures, descriptions and a theme (like... "circus" or "rain" or whatever your character is interested in!) for your picture. :) A couple of options to choose from is always good. I will do the rest after payment has been received.
WHAT'S WITH THE PRICING?
You will notice that I put a range on the price. I call it my "Toes Tax". The baseline $10 is for a "normal" character. If your character is complex (taurs, hexa-anythings, basically anything with more than four limbs in total or complicated character design like megaspecific markings), the price is $12. Sorry to make this distinction, but the more limbs and details I have to juggle, the longer it takes me! :) At the moment I accept PayPal ** bluenadirATgmailDOTcom **.

- unusual things (dragons, weird mammals)

Fleur 2010.12.09 - 2012.05.12
Posted 13 years agoMy kitty, Fleur, died early this morning. :(
When we got home last night, we discovered her on the living room floor with a broken leg. We rushed her to the veterinary hospital, where they gave her a very good prognosis. She would be operated in the morning to screw her joint back together. At 2am they phoned and said she had trouble breathing, at 4am she had passed away. The fall that broke her leg did internal damage, possibly a rupture in her aorta. She just couldn't recover from the resulting aneurism combined with the shock.
I am utterly heartbroken. We missed out on so many potential years with this fluffy little cat. I'll miss her so much.

Posted 14 years agoYes, I do not walk the Shadow Realm yet! :) Got damn busy in the last half of the year and just didn't have the energy for arting. Now that I'm a bit more settled (ho ho ho... we'll see what tomorrow's First Day Back throws at me), I'm itching to get some ideas out of my head. In that vein, what exactly are the rules around "adoptables"? Red is an old dog, and this "adoptables" thing is a new trick I see the kids doing. What are the prices? What are the do's and don'ts? What is good etiquette? Should each one be a unique and special snowflake?

Posted 14 years agoI'm going on a course for the next 3 weeks and I MIGHT be allowed to come home over weekends (although I'm not holding my breath on that one). I might be bored in the evenings which would leave me some time to fiddle around with new ideas. :) If you still want to throw a character into the experimental pool, do so heeeere.

Posted 14 years agoTaking a bit of a break from the icons for now to explore some other projects. Hence, I am calling for volunteers that I can experiment on. I'm looking for a variety of characters (species, gender, plain, complicated etc) but I will probably not use ALL the characters who sign up. Should my experiments be successful, you will of course get whatever arises from them. :)
