Mythologically slow on the uptake
General | Posted 14 years agoRe Medusa and more specifically her head.
Surrounded by wildly tangled snake-like hair, considered terribly ugly by the ancient Greeks, made men hard as stone, and yet even separate from her body they cannot look away...
Now what could that be a metaphor for I wonder?
Think about it.
This was probably blindingly obvious but it finally got through the thick fog surrounding my brain. I really ought to get out more.

OK re MLP
General | Posted 14 years agoIt's not something I want to watch, and I realize that many of you enjoy it so good for you. BUT. Having said this and having seen all the noise and mutual butt hurt over it. I can only conclude this analogy.
MLP is to Furry as Twilight is to Vampires.
Discuss.

General | Posted 14 years agoWhen upon reading some innocent post you're suddenly reminded that no matter what you may have thought, you may mean something even a great deal to many people, but you just don't matter enough to any one of them?
I'm thinking reality check.
Well whatever. Yaaay mood swings. :P
And it was a good day up till now too.

General | Posted 14 years agoI'm pondering taking commissions again. Thing is this time I want to make a smaller queue for color work, and I'm not sure how much interest there is. If there's alot - how do I make the selection process fair? Random number generator? Not everyone sees postings at the same time. Of course this all speculative on whether anyone would care.
However it would break down to say 4 slots at a time for color stuff, and those would have a monthly deadline, meaning #4 would most likely be done in 4 months from the initial slot listing. I'm thinking it should be like this because last time I had someone waiting far far too long.
I could probably do sketches in larger quantities given the following restrictions, it's a sketch, I'll do my best based on the info you give me, but I'm not going to revise it. If you don't like the preliminary version I guess that's it. It's kinda like a variation on con sketching. I suppose things can be worked out if it's way off. But we'll see. So far I'm holding to the what you see is what you get method. These of course will be priced way lower than color work.
And of course I still need to look into payment methods. I have reservations about several methods, but that needs more looking into.
So. Any thoughts?

Upon further introspection
General | Posted 14 years agoI’ve come to the conclusion that I may be as unhappy as I am due to what are apparently unreasonable expectations. Without getting too far into it, in the back of my mind are certain expectations on how things should go, people should act, and how situations should resolve. Pretty much a textbook case of weltschmerz.*
This has been with me at least a sort of subconscious thing. I don't always realize I'm doing it, but I certainly feel it. I'm often disappointed with friends, people I care about, and various other situations. This is clearly a problem with me as nobody else is going to change. No matter what I happen to think or feel the world has no obligation to act accordingly. The way I choose to try and behave isn't shared by all. How I feel about anyone is not going to be the way they feel about me. There is not necessarily someone for everyone. Things do not in fact have to work out in the end. And the working world is a place of Darwinian struggle.
So rather than continue my waiting and hoping things will become like I think they should be it is time to adapt to what is. Long overdue I'm sure. So expectations will be lowered to what I tend to get out of life. That way any improvements will be quite the pleasant surprise.

Question for you about submissions
General | Posted 15 years agoSo in general - do you all prefer one at a time stretched out over a few days for something to look forward to? Or would you prefer to have everything produced released in one big upload?
I wonder if the bit upload takes away from being able to appreciate the art (presuming anyone does that)? Or if it's better to have many new things to savor.
Can't tell. So it's out to you guys. Vote now! It may affect my actions in the future. Or not :)

Pluggity Plug Plug
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's time for FC so that means it's time for shameless plugging. :) Just putting this here in case you missed the image. I know I rarely have something without the helpful blue or red border so I thought I'd put this here too.

General | Posted 15 years agoWell on this topic I think Wolfblade ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1418473/ Also great vid ) said it best. Key paragraph here
"This isn't religious persecution or racism or empty baseless hate. This is >your< side of things saying "You have to obey my religion's commands" and the rest of the world saying "No, we do not." If >any< other religion started making death threats over people drawing their religious figures, you would see the >EXACT< same reaction of people the world over doing exactly the same thing in defiance. So no, this is not singling you out unfairly for an inappropriate and malicious persecution. It's a justified response to an unacceptable attempt to enforce your beliefs and wishes on others through threats of violence and death, which is, hey, Terrorism"
Frankly I don't see why Muslims get a free pass from mockery when all the other religions don't. Oh right they I'll kill you and everyone around you thing. Well isn't giving in to that encouraging the behaviour? I dunno it's pretty complicated and you don't often see that with the other religions which are mocked CONSTANTLY. But I'm sure if you poked hard enough some fundie would shoot you or something.
Oh and along these lines enjoy an oldie - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/443868/

General | Posted 16 years agoMy website and email from same are down currently due to someone hacking the site. My webmaster is aware of all this and is correcting it as we speak. So if you had emailed me in the past couple weeks - I'm not ignoring you, just can't get at it currently. Feel free to respond here or drop me a note in the meantime.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Spinning up for Art
General | Posted 17 years agoWell I haven't been that productive lately due to having a total computer virus induced meltdown. I've had to reinstall and regenerate the thing and I'm pretty sure I have it stable now. Soooo time to get off my butt and start producing again.
And as a consolation prize there is a new submission up there somewhere.

And so I return!
General | Posted 17 years agoBack from FC. Had a wonderful time, got to see alot of friends I just don't get to see all that often normally. Got to spend more time with others I generally don't. And of course got to meet a whole bunch of new people. Always nice to get to see the people behind the comments.
So I had a very good time and was glad to have been there. And now - back to rl which has considerably less appeal. Ah well. Till next year.

And off to FC
General | Posted 17 years agoWell I'll be away at con for a bit. I'll be in the dealer's room most of the time so you can look for me there. Feel free to say hi.
I'll be at FC 2009
General | Posted 17 years agoYep I'll be back there and chained in the dealer's room. I have a new portfolio this year - Old School - featuring 13 B&W and one bonus color print for the same low price. Also B4 and Random Sex are still available in limited quantities. And I'll be doing sketches at a special con rate. So come stop by the SudoArt table even if it's just to say hi! Be nice to meet you all :)
Merry CHristmas Everyone
General | Posted 17 years agoHope it was warm, fun, and that you all got what you wanted.
