Backlog Posting Soon and Characters for Sale
General | Posted 4 years agoVery sorry about disappearing for a while, everyone. I haven't had much time to draw and what I have gotten done are mostly sketches. I'll be posting the backlog and what I have done for Junicorn so far shortly, so sorry about any spam!
I also have two characters currently for sale over on my Toyhouse. Esperanza: https://toyhou.se/9767007.esperanza-campana and Mairead: https://toyhou.se/11357409.mairead-.....s-sealgaihann. The names and backstories would stay with me, but I am open to selling the designs. I plan to have more characters for sale in the coming months.
Thanks for your patience!

Giveaway Winner Announcement!
General | Posted 4 years agoFinally Moved In!
General | Posted 4 years agoJust finishing up unpacking and hanging things. It took a solid two days to find my nails and I found them only after it was too late to be banging on the walls, haha.
My internet equipment is getting delivered today, so I'm hoping to get drawing streams back up. So soon I'll get back to posting regularly. I just literally have not been able to even get my laptop out until yesterday afternoon. Don't make the mistake of putting your important things in the back closet and then having the movers put all of your boxes in front of the door.

Updates!
General | Posted 4 years agoHey, everyone! First things first, I’m going to be extending the giveaway into the first week of May. My moving timeframe got moved up by a few weeks (my next semester starts that first week and the unit is ready for me to move into whenever I’m ready) and the current giveaway end date would conflict with that. The featured journal will be updated to reflect this!
Also, my TOS is updating. I’m happy to offer the option to have your commission live-streamed. This will only be an option for sketches, halfbodies, and full bodies. Backgrounds are not included in this offering. It’s free of charge, but the commissioner would have to request it and give me a time and date that works. I’m also happy to do these during my streams so long as I’m not already working on a commission.
Speaking of streams, I’m planning to do them more often. I can’t give a schedule yet, but I’m hoping on at least once a week once everything is in order.

Giveaway!
General | Posted 4 years agoHello, everyone! I got too excited about it and ended up deciding to start the giveaway early. With the semester ending in three days and having a little bit of time before I can start moving into my new apartment, I thought that I would celebrate by hosting a giveaway!
The prize is one fullbody detailed drawing. The winner can also elect to add a detailed background or additional characters by paying for the difference (this may increase the turnaround time). My ToS still stand.
How to enter: watch me on FA and comment on this journal! You can also enter one additional time by following me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/BestofSunday). If you’re already following me on Twitter, just be sure to let me know and I’ll count it! DM me on here or include your Twitter handle in your comment on this journal so I know to count it!
The giveaway will end on 5/5/2021 at 10 pm CST. The winner will be chosen and announced the following day. Once details are discussed and the initial sketch is approved, it will be a two week turnaround until the piece is done.

Giveaway?
General | Posted 4 years agoI’ve been thinking about holding a raffle/giveaway once my finals are over and I have a little bit until I move. It would be for a free full body (simply bg, but the winner could pay the difference for a detailed). Is there an interest in this?
The entry conditions would be to watch me on here and comment on the journal entry. An additional entry could be gained by following my Twitter and letting me know in the comment or a dm what the Twitter handle is that you’re following from.
I think it would probably run for about a week or two.
If there’s a more preferable prize than a full body, please let me know. I will not be offering reference pages, however.

Detail Commissions Closing Temporarily Soon
General | Posted 4 years agoI've been mentioning it some on Twitter, but I'll be moving soon. I've been month-to-month on my current lease since the pandemic started and I had planned to stay here until November this year and then move closer to my college (the last semester has to be in person to demonstrate an ability to embalm and direct a funeral service), but I got a call mid-last week that informed me that I needed to sign a one year lease or my rent would increase every month. For obvious reasons, both of those options were just not practical.
It is a 60 day move out period, but once the new apartment is ready to move into I'm going to start moving things in. The new apartment is very flexible on the lease and in the heart of the city, so I'm looking forward to all of the new opportunities there.
Because of all the moving, I am going to be temporarily closing detailed commissions until I am settled in the new place and my office is set up again. Detailed backgrounds and detailed full bodies will be unavailable to commission from 4/12/21 to 5/12/21 (or until I'm settled in! I'll make a new journal when I'm ready to reopen them). I can take a waitlist for anyone that wants to get one during that period, but no work will begin until my office is ready. Commissions taken before 4/12/21 will still be completed, but please be aware that the two week turnaround period may need an extension during that time.

The end of the semester is in sight!
General | Posted 4 years agoI’m in my last three weeks of the semester, so I’m very excited to conclude my first semester at mortuary school. I’ve already learned so much and I’m still so happy to be pursuing this as a career. Art is going to slow down again starting next week, though, since the finals are all comprehensive and some take more time to study than others.
I’ll have about two weeks as a break between semesters (the semesters run spring-summer-fall, with our winter break being the longest) before things start up again. I’ve been playing around with the idea of challenging myself to put out at least one piece of art every day during break to kind of speed up my progress as an artist. We’ll see!

Commission information updated!
General | Posted 5 years agoI have updated my commission info page to reflect current prices and offerings. In addition to what is offered on the page, I can also do comics, but they're more expensive than anything else on the list.
If you want something that you don't see on the page or are unsure of asking for, please go ahead and feel free to contact me about it! I'm usually open to draw most things and I've made custom price lists for things like comics and reference pages.
Thanks for reading!

Updates Coming Soon!
General | Posted 5 years agoFirst of all, there should be some new additions to the gallery soon once I get this last commission finished. I'm planning to upload all of the recent ones on the same day.
Second, commission types will be updated tomorrow! This means that what I'm offering is going to change and some prices have been updated (meaning, I'm increasing the price of a couple things). If you'd like something from me, then you may want to commission it before I update the prices. I will honor any current terms and prices as long as the comm is placed before the update. Notable changes are that I will now have a two week turnaround for anything that is not a simple sketch, animations are starting at $15 and increasing with complexity, and base prices for fullbodies are increasing. Once these changes have been implemented, there should be no more major changes to types, prices, and terms until fall at the earliest, though I'm hoping that these are good enough to leave alone! I've been trying to find that sweet spot with it all and I think that this should finally be it.
I am also going to have some new YCHs in the coming weeks. At most, these will likely have two slots each. If you have anything in particular you'd like to see for these, please let me know.
Whew, that's a lot. I've been kept extremely busy with school, so I haven't been able to do much personal art aside from sketches and little icons. I'm hoping to do some more pieces with my own characters soon!

Revamping Commission Types Soon
General | Posted 5 years agoI’m going to be going through and completely redoing my commission info page soon! Hopefully some time next week it will be done! I’ll make a new journal when it’s done.
At this point, the old info page just doesn’t make much sense and I’ve learned a lot about taking commissions. I’m also considering starting a queue system, especially for during semesters. So be on the look out for those changes soon!

I’m on Twitter now!
General | Posted 5 years agoYou can find me at BestofSunday. I’ll be posting sketches that don’t usually make it to FA, as well as cross posting art from here.
Mortuary school starts tomorrow, also, so art may slow down here a bit until I get the hang of the new schedule. I’m very excited for it to begin!

Happy New Year!
General | Posted 5 years agoThere’s no denying that 2020 was a year of tragedies. I’m grateful that those I care about made it through, even the ones who did end up catching the virus. I’m also thankful that this year begins my adventure into the world of mortuary science.
While nothing ended aside from the calendar last night, I am choosing to be optimistic about this year. Things will be better and we will accomplish good things. We survived everything that was thrown at us in 2020, even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes. That matters.
For fun, my friends and I have been making random predictions about this year. The rules are: it can be anything at all and try to avoid pessimistic predictions—it’s supposed to be fun! Here’s mine: a new animal is going to be discovered in Argentina and it’s not what you would expect. Feel free to throw your own predictions out in the comments!
Best of luck to everyone this year, it’s quite literally all uphill from the last one!

Big Life Changes
General | Posted 5 years agoI finally got the notice that I’ve been accepted into mortuary school today! I’ll be starting in the spring and should be graduated and qualified to work in this state in two years!
I’ve wanted to pursue this career for years, but had an agreement with my dad that I had to get a four year degree first. We’ve had some arguments about it this fall, but I finally got his support to apply and pursue embalming and funeral directing. I’ve also got a contact about shadowing and potentially working at a funeral home.
It’s been a bit rough, as I was initially notified that I would not be able to attend in spring because some documents were missing (documents that weren’t necessary, so we had to go to the president about it). I was absolutely gutted last week, so the sheer relief I’m experiencing right now is incredible. I never thought I would be able to pursue the career I’ve always wanted, so this all still doesn’t feel real. I gave up pursuing a PhD for this and I’m honestly just happy to be able to do what I’ve wanted to for so long.
I’m grateful for what I learned and the experience researching in the psychological field, and I feel like it will definitely help me moving forward, but I’m happy that I won’t be in that field anymore. The environment I would have been going into felt stifling even as a beginner researcher and the more I learned about it, the more it became clear that I would not be able to pursue the research that I cared about.
At the end of the day, I want to make the world a little bit better by being in it. It might have been nice to contribute to research that would help people I would never meet, but I feel it will be much more rewarding to be able to help people in their most vulnerable moments. I want to help people get the same closure that my family got from my grandparents’ funerals. That would be enough to make me happy.

My tablet returns!
General | Posted 5 years agoI’ve said it before, but most of my drawings in this gallery were done without pressure sensitivity since they were done on my iPad. The two main reasons I switched from my computer to the iPad were that my colors are off on the display and my preferred drawing program stopped working. It made me very sad because my favorite sketching brush was on there.
I did some updates and installations on it today and now SAI works again! For now, I’m going to test it out to see if it’s faster to work on there. I’ll probably just use it for linework and shading, but I’ve gotten really rusty at it.

Price Adjustment 8/23
General | Posted 5 years agoI’m considering increasing my prices for all commission types aside from simplified sketch and sketch page. Prices would probably increase by $5.
The increase will probably happen in a couple of weeks. If you’re looking to get a commission by me and you would like it at the current price, I would recommend grabbing them now before the increase happens. I plan to adjust everything by the 23rd of August.
Thank you all for following me! My art style has definitely improved over my time here and it’s in no small part due to the confidence you all have given me! I’m very grateful!

Now Offering Sketch Pages
General | Posted 5 years agoI am now offering a new commission type: sketch pages! The base price of $20 includes one full body, two half bodies, full color, and shading. Extras can be tacked on (see my commission page for more details).
These are done in a sketchy style with looser lines. If you end up liking one of the sketches and would like it made into a finished picture with clean line art and detailed shading, I will only charge $5 for busts/half bodies and $10 for full bodies per character. This option is equivalent to the Detailed commissions I offer in terms of quality.
Thank you for taking a look!

Question
General | Posted 5 years agoI am not very good with technology.
While I have a tablet for the computer, my laptop color display is always off (more desaturated, I think, which makes the final colors look awful unless I import palettes from another device). It’s sacrificing color for better lines/faster drawing. The iPad that I have is better for colors, but it is very frustrating to get lines done quickly or do proper shading. My gallery is very inconsistent because I switch between the two devices and it is starting to get on my nerves.
Is it worth getting an Apple Pencil? I feel bad making large purchases for a hobby, but I find myself less and less happy with drawing on desktop. Do the pencils hold a decent charge? Is the pressure sensitivity the same as you would get from a traditional tablet? That’s the main feature that I care about.
Thank you!

Please Help My Research Study!
General | Posted 6 years agoHello, everyone! I am currently in an undergraduate honors research program and have spent a few months designing my own study to help with graduate school applications. I'm hoping to have this submitted for publication and to expand the (very) small existing body of knowledge on the subject. Unfortunately, right now my participant numbers are much lower than they should be.
I would like to ask anyone coming to this page to please consider participating by taking the survey linked below! The survey is a short, four-part questionnaire being used to study stigma against those with invisible illnesses (ex. chronic pain, migraines, PCOS) and it takes about ten minutes to complete. All data gathered will be kept anonymous and you can opt out of answering any questions that you don't want to answer. We are also measuring as to whether gender has an effect on this kind of stigma!
If you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask me either here on FA or via the email link provided in the survey (I'm the one without a PhD, haha. My observing professor redirects inquiries to me, so it's easier just to come straight to me). Anyone over eighteen is eligible to participate. I'll also provide a journal update about the results of the study.
This is an area that is very important to me. I plan to get a PhD in Experimental Psychology, specializing in studying conditions such as chronic pain. This study would greatly help me achieve that dream and hopefully help a lot of people!
Please share this link with anyone that you think would like to participate! The more participants, the better this study will do!
Thank you so much!
