Off on new adventure
General | Posted 10 years agoSo...an opportunity appeared that has led me and WhiteLion and the cubs on an adventure far away for the east coast of the US. Though moving is a royal pain in the butt..we still are working on all that...
Those who are close to us know a lot more of the details, and beyond that we don't share a lot of the info. There are reasons...
Suffice it to say I spend my days now amongst true "cowboys and indians" (native americans to be politically correct) and get to watch the wild horses run. And now I gotta get back into the habit of riding ..because sometimes ya just need a horse to hoof it.....
There are many things we get to be a part of now, but out of respect for the traditions and values of the people we live amongst, we cannot post any photos of such things...it would violate their beliefs and trust on so many levels.
However that being said..there are IMMENSE opportunities now for some other awesome photography and so once I get myself in gear I will try posting some to share the things I can.

He shall always be..our friend
General | Posted 11 years agoWith great sadness I am that Leonard Nimoy has passed on.
As a devout trekkie from the very beginning of the series, the passing of Spock is a great loss, but then again he has left us with many many things
Nimoy was more than just the character SPock, yet somehow he was indeed the essence of what was pure value from the mythical character
May you live long and prosper in your new dimension dear Spock..for you have been and always shall be out friend

REPOSTING 9 Crucial Tips Written By A Cop, This Might Save
General | Posted 11 years agoreposting from here>>http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6403435/
The following tips were written by a police officer, according to Tickld:
Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one’s life. In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation… This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children and everyone you know.
After reading these 9 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1. The elbow is the strongest point on your body.
If you are close enough to use it, do!
2. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.
Toss it away from you….
Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car…
…kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to…
…get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF.
Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage…
A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs.
Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!
Milan_stairway
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig-zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP.
It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well-educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point
Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her “Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.”
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, “We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.” He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby’s cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby’s cries outside their doors when they’re home alone at night.
Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby — This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America’s Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana. I’d like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS 2014
General | Posted 11 years agowishing all our friends a Merry Christmas!!
no snow here this year but then again...reindeer can travel without snow
We have been rather uber busy lately and there are some major things going on for us...good for us and the cubs provided certain others do not try to interfere in what we have been working on.
may all enjoy their holiday..
now..back to sorting things I go...

AC 2014 and random thoughts
General | Posted 11 years agoSo we are finally almost all sorted out from our trip to AC this year.
One of the best things about this year was having our furry adopted family members sharing the suite with us. made for a very stress-free and calming retreat for things.
Mental note is made to always do this for travels with groups.
So we were in the Westin and though everyone complains about the elevators..I guess I just tend to plan my day to account for such things and ignore it (plus being in suit a lot helps :) )
We did have major issues with our room keys for some reason..their system kept deactivating all our keys and I seemed to have made more trips to the desk to have keys recoded than I have ever experience before..and when it would happen it was ALL of the keys..and luckily someone was almost always in the room when it happened. Just was annoying at times.
I and Sparkles got to help out Sheppymomma with the group dance video..which was tons of fun and we can't wait to see the video.
AND Lee Trocar is awesome!! hope he comes back in future.
Art show was great as usual..and I did gather a few items up..and also was able to get some items that will be going to a fundraiser for the Native American veterinary Service project I am working on..more to come about that in the future...
I did get a few small commission things..and well..now I need to try to find the artists as I could not locate them on Saturday after the fursuit parade (and Sparkles and I were totally tired after the video shoot, mad rush to GoH luncheon and then mad rush back to the parade). I am trying to find my note of how to contact the artists but I am also hoping they have kept track of the email I gave them for me since I paid them with no hassles. I did not get to the dealer's room on Sunday because we were busy with other things and then had to go to the long line at the Art show to pick up things I had managed to win (some of which are now going to their new homes).
And for all the complaints people have about the Westin at times, I personally have very few issues with them ever..they generally are very accommodating for me (granted I am a preferred member because of business travel at times so..maybe I get to be "special"..who knows)
I had hoped to get to spend some more time with a few friends but alas..so much to do and so many people..made it hard to find time for all..
so I guess one simply has to choose what to aim at..and that was My goal for this year..
Now to think about next year and start saving up for the trip...

Happy Valentines Day!
General | Posted 12 years agoHappiness is having one you love dearly and who loves you just as much to snuggle up with even if there are piles of snow outside. And happiness is having your friends and family to share that with.
May everyone enjoy their day and treasure the ones closest to their hearts.
For now these kitties have to go thaw out their snow frozen paws from this week of snow removal

Plans for some future things..and FUR THE MORE!!!
General | Posted 12 years agoSO 2014 is started.
I am sorting out some Ideas for FurTheMore....as I am going to be there as well as WhiteLion as staff. I could use some help from those out there who would like to help me with some very basic fursuit panels..note me if you want to know what we are trying to do. Part of it is to be able to be aimed to new furry fans and youngsters.
I am also working on a project I had been involved in way back, and now seem to have found that it fits in with some things I need to be doing for my own spiritual self....too long I have not been involved in the things I am most attuned to.
One of the big ones will be a project involving the Native American Veterinary Service and helping to get some type of funding mechanism for the desperately needed services for the animals on the Hopi, Zuni and Navajo reservations. If you have never been on the REAL reservations, back in the non-tourist areas where the people really are, then you have no idea what a hard life it is. (LIKE INTERNET..YEA IF YOU ARE AMAZINGLY LUCKY)
I hope to get a few things set u soon an will post about it here.
I am still going through hundreds of photos from time out there.
Hope to see our local furballs at EFM this month!

there are many many thoughts to add..but..go read
and ...
as someone who has a LOT of contact and friendships with human doctors..most NEVER got into their profession to become rich..BUT the whole attitude of society to be sue happy ....well many I know have retired from practice waaaaay early and see all the horrors of our system
You cant blame the doctors as a whole.
Society in the US needs to wise up
but people also need to start realizing everything is give and take..all has a cost

Anthrocon 2013..and some other random things
General | Posted 12 years agoSo a wee delayed but life (real life) kinda takes up time..anyways
AC2013 updates
For us AC2013 was basically meant as our family vacation this year, and also our chance to salute our good friend
hansgearbox in his successful retirement from military service after 20 years..they managed not to kill him off after all on his last deployment to Afghanistan. WOOT!!
So..we stayed at the Westin because..that's what we do..I personally dont have issues about the elevators..i have been at much bigger conventions for other things..its sorta typical and frankly the Dorsai do their best at keeping thing sane. We had a crew with us..but that sorta is not relevant to anyone but us.
One of the best things we got to do is by being a bit early..I got to spend some welcome time with
sheppymomma and
aryia as well as
ryuuyouki...I hope the Westin did not mind that our suite sort of became like fursuit construction central at AC..we did try to keep it neat and tidy but there was lots of fluff and stuff floating about as we worked on various things with fursuits and such. Lots was learned and many ideas puttered with. And our little one Sparkles indeed had her partial all ready to wear for AC and got to be Halla the G-shepherds honorary little sister for parts of the con. We had so much fun!! and Sparkles got to help with one of the sillier g-shep photos which I hope came out ok..can't wait to see it. We will pretend she is part Gshep ...hehe.
As usual we spent time in the puppetorium with Jim Martin, Nonsanity and their crew..but this year spent a lot more time wandering in suit because a certain smaller one wanted to..I have learned some VERY important lessons about my head..and it is gonna mean I think about a new version..I need to have one as easy to deal with as the one I made Sparkles if she expects her mommy to go wandering around in costume for 5 or 6 hours at a time. I have come to the conclusion I need something with a lot better..so..a new project to work on. I have to figure out a better version in order to accompany her for long periods safely.
I got to spend some time in the Dealer's Den..and got to meet
n.z. and
jc at their table and got my new StarryWolves books ..I am glad they got to be at Anthrocon and also have their artistic work in the Dealer's room and art show. Too bad I did not get to win the bids for some of the artwork they had in the Art Show..alas...some other time. I also got to wander a bit with
mylordslover and check things out. And of course pick up a copy of "Women of Fur".
We bought some of the charity raffles tickets and of course Sparkles had to have the Rainbow Dash build-a-bear..so you can guess where most of the tickets went. Luckily she won it. Lots of things to see in the Dealer's den, and also the artist alley. I mainly decided this year I wanted to get to go wander through the Art show though..since I never have had a chance to do so other AC before. SO..Friday night the reception was a great treat for me to attend and well worth the extra expense I paid to have that opportunity. Plus by then a certain little pink puppy was tired out!! It was wonderful to get to listen to Larry Dixon, but more fun was getting to check out the art in the show. One of the items there I just HAD to bid on was a little crocheted Lion doll..which I did win. I shall have to post photos later. I also got to chat a bit with
irime
All in all I am definitely going to look into having the opportunity if possible to do that each year if I can attend AC..it is something I thoroughly enjoyed getting to do. I definitely preferred that to having to try to squeeze it in during the earlier parts of the day.
The other things we really enjoyed were of course Sardyuon..and the kids both got autographs from him, the dance competition ..which is always fun...and of course ..the fursuit games..which this year I have to say..I think were MUCH better choices..especially having some more audience participation. I think some of them might actually be feasible for the younger suiters and some of those who may not be super athletic. It kinda gave me thoughts to offer to for the future.
There were people I only briefly got to say hi to..but there are many other ways for them to keep in contact, so for me there was really only one down side to AC...and that was that there was a snafu about getting gaming stuff up to the game room in the DLCC on Friday morning...we almost were not allowed to go up to help set up because they were only letting the Staff badges through but no volunteers...ugh. and our tote of all our gaming stuff was rather heavy...hmm...minor snafu but now we know to track down Kiric and Turtyl earlier.
Then our trip home was..well..exciting..nothing like having and 18wheeler have a tire blowout when you are right next to them going like 70mph..scared the crap out of us and the debris scattered over both our SUVs since we were following each other right next to this truck..no damage though and no one hurt so all was fine.
Now to finish sorting stuff, getting to resize photos..and basically just back to the usual stuff.
and to make plans for next year once other things in life sort out a bit.
Cheers all

Too bad I did not get to win the bids for some of the artwork they had in the Art Show..alas...some other time. I also got to wander a bit with
mylordslover and check things out. And of course pick up a copy of "Women of Fur".We bought some of the charity raffles tickets and of course Sparkles had to have the Rainbow Dash build-a-bear..so you can guess where most of the tickets went. I also got to chat a bit with
irimeAll in all I am definitely going to look into having the opportunity if possible to do that each year if I can attend AC..it is something I thoroughly enjoyed getting to do.
Cheers all
Back from Anthrocon 2013
General | Posted 12 years agoSo we are back from Anthrocon...and now we have to finish unpacking and settling things back in here at home.
Lots of thoughts in my mind about the trip....things I have I want to do and such..and ideas percolating to maybe take to FurTheMore2014
and so glad we got to spend time with some people who are special to us..I aint gonna list them because I am not gonna forget someone and then hurt someone's feelings because of a brain fart..(and NO YOU GUYS--- DO NOT GET OUT THE FART GUN!!!!!). I was also very glad to at least get to meet N.Z and JC in person on their trip here from China.
The weird thing for me is from being used to being up early I automatically get up early..so..everyone else is still passed out asleep when I wander off to plan my day in the mornings at Anthrocon..though my attempts at plans always seem to get modified as the day goes on..just gotta go with the flow
I also have to work on getting the GShep group photos reformatted and posted...and you all are gonna have to help me tag all of you....
The main down side was that spending a lot of time suiting with our little one Sparkles took a heavy toll on my back...6 plus hours straight at a time for 3 days... and carrying around various things so she would not overheat in her first outings definitely made it harder on me suiting with her..YIKES!!!
But I have ideas now of what I need to change on my suit so I can better accompany her and not have it take such a toll, though I know I have to limit the length of time to smaller portions so it is not such a discomfort.
I picked up some things I commissioned ahead of time from some artists and we also got some items in the charity raffle and the art show..when things are settled we shall post photos. Best thing was we won the Rainbow Dash build-a-bear from the charity raffle..THANK GOODNESS..since a certain pink puppy really really REALLY wanted that pony!!
Also..I made sure to attend the early Saturday ceremony that the militaryfur/greymuzzle furs had for Hans for his retirement from the service..*salutes Hans*...good job soldier..now you are free of further tours.
If anyone managed to get better photos than I of the little suiter pink puppy Sparkles ..let me know
now..back to unpacking and sorting photos

Summer is upon us!!
General | Posted 12 years agoSO June begins and summer vacation for our cubs, and the craziness of summer.
We have a pretty busy hectic set of things to do, but are hoping to get to enjoy time with friends too.
For our EFM friends we hope to see you all bowling on June 22nd.
We would love to see if anyone wants to pick a day with Arle to go to Knoebels or maybe even Dorney Park
Amthrocon is July 4th weekend and we have already made all our plans along with a few good friends too!! It should be fun this year as some far away people will be there and we get to meet them..YAY..(WAVES AT N.Z. and J.C.) Roxicat is getting to go and some other people who are near and dear to us. If anyone wants to catch up with us..send a note and we can exchange cell numbers so you know how to find us and vice versa.
We have other things too, and also, we may be able to have some pool picnics as we finally got the pool working..it aint big but it it welcome on hot summer days.
Also, out of necessity of dealing with the demands of Sparkledog, I have started back up with one of my old hobbies/skills. As it is sort of a surprise, I am going to wait to post results ..first few are experiments of sorts.
SO..may everyone enjoy the summer, and PLEASE..go tell Hans Gearbox
hansgearbox a congrats for FINALLY being able to get his retirement from our armed forces..no more wolf in a humvee nor insurgents trying to blow him up..for now anyways

General | Posted 12 years agoSunday is Mother's Day. I hope all out there will find time to appreciate the person who has been there for them with loving support and care..AND I do NOT imply this has to be your BIOLOGICAL mother. I personally have long ago come to the knowledge that someone being designated as a BIOLOGICAL "parent" means absolutely nothing in terms of who REALLY matters in ones life. Biological relatives are not ones you choose to have as relatives...you are more or less stuck with those definitions.
SO may everyone instead show appreciation for the ones who have been there as true love and support.

Fur The More, April Furbowl and more...
General | Posted 12 years agoSo a bit behind, but just a bit of an update
We went to Fur The More, and is was a much needed break for me and mine. My friends around us locally know that my spinal injuries have been unpleasant and painful, and since I now have to fight with my insurance over them approving treatment (seems that because the injuries resulted from an assault they are now balking at treating me and saying that the person who caused them should have insurance covering the costs..gotta love how Obamacare is gonna mess with many of us). The constant pain makes it hard now for me to do many things I would otherwise love to be doing. ANYWAYS..WhiteLion and I told Skippy we would help out at Fur The More, and it turns out we got to spend a lot of time with Turtyl and Kiric, as well as Skippy and Kittrel at registration. In a way that was good because I got to meet a lot of people in person, got to talk to people as they wandered by,got to hang out a bit with Obsidian (thanks so much for the scratch art..I am gonna make a nice badge of it!!) and got to work on the new ears for my head that I just never had time for, Also was great to get to visit with Nonsanity and his daughter and have her and our little one Sparkles get to really enjoy the con with her friend. Of course the other was mastering Smash brothers in the game room One thing I noticed from being at the registration desk especially on Saturday is that there were a number of young furry fans who managed to convince their parents to bring them, despite their parents being leery of all things furry. In a way, having me and WhiteLion and our younguns there at registration seemed to put a few of these parents at ease. I really hope that since there are some pretty strict rules/laws in maryland , that maybe this con may turn out to be a lot more youngster/family friendly because i think that would surely help out a lot of those of us with kids and also would make the younger fans have less issues with their parents. Being a "furry" should not be any different than being a trekkie or a MLP fan or anything else. So to Kit and Razor and the crew..Whitelion adn I will be happy to be on staff and help out, maybe we can help with that part of things since we have to live with it all the time.
Looking forward to 2014 for sure!!!
This past Saturday was our March EFM Bowling..awesome as always and HAPPY BDAY for Ryuu. One thing we started talking about was Furnanza for this year. We are thinking either June or later in July and are going to soon be picking our charity for the event. This is a smaller event, but still fun. Watch the EFM pages for upcoming news about it!!
And last but not least, I am looking forward to AC as my dear friend Hans is finally getting to retire after many dedicated years of service in the Army. They managed to not kill him off after he last tour in Afghanistan, so he deserves to finally be set free from his noble service. So hopefully we will get to have a grand time there since that silly wolf is gonna move westward and we wont get to see him for a while. And I get to see his new suit..which means we gotta get some good photos for him!!
art and photos will be posted as i can of things as I fiinally have my software snafu fixed.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
General | Posted 13 years agoWishing all a happy holiday season.
Ours was a quiet Christmas home with kids and critters..enjoying the fireplace and baking gingerbread cookies (we make critter shapes rather than ginger bread men) I did NOT get to take pictures because they gotten eaten!!!. .:O
When we make more I will have to get photos..they always vary because I hand shape them.
Still working on the photos from EFM..seems that my software got corrupted and I need to reinstall it..so getting that done
We would like to try to have a gathering for all our EFM friends as a sort of after christmas christmas thing
If you all are up for it..then we can make some plans
Just cannot be the weekend of the speed skating races....
'
Life goes on..the end of the Mayan calendar came and went..well it just restarts actually
Now I just need to wait for the "ancestors" to return..I bet they will set things right in a lot of ways
Hope all find joy in the things that matter most...loved ones near and far close in your heart.

Soon to upload stuff...SORRY FOR DELAYS
General | Posted 13 years agoHey all..I am hoping this evening and this weekend to upload the photos from the EFM December bowling meet as well as new art us kitties have, and also some photos from things I just had not gotten to.
things have been a bit hectic so kinda behind. AND DARN FA..I gotta resize most so takes me forever.
The biggest issue was dealing with the lovely American Family Court system and how someone who cannot accept the consequences of his own issues and actions against I and my children has created what he now faces. Denial is an amazing thing..and I do believe there is some neurobiochemical basis to this all...
also..I recently got to watch a documentary and have read the blogs of those who have faced this before me. Sometimes change comes by the efforts of the few who will stand their ground.
Happy Holidays to all our friends.
FOR us for this Christmas..we ask all to support those trying to escape domestic violence and abuse and not be being attacked by their own legal system for protecting themselves and their children.
Remember O J Simpson? Well money is what seems to make the wheels of justice turn in this country way more than any want to admit.

Hurricane Is GONE..and all is well
General | Posted 13 years agoHurricane Sandy has come and gone. We are all fine..seemed like more of just a nasty storm to us here.
WhiteLion's family in the islands were hit harder but they too are all safe.
Of course there is the usual mess and such from llack of power and all the chaos from cancelled events and such.
At least it did not affect the King Frost Parade in Hamburg on Staurday..and HEY EFM ..maybe we should enter the parade next year..fursuits for a charity awareness?..hint hint
Also..on FRiday is really cool evet I want to share..
https://www.facebook.com/TheAllHallowsGala
and my favorite wildlife group is part of the event.
Hope to have more info on some events I am working with my wildlife friends on...
and maybe we will tag along to Delaware this weekend..we shall see...

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
General | Posted 13 years agohttp://www.ncadv.org/takeaction/Dom.....enessMonth.php
and
http://www.dvleap.org/Home.aspx
I hope everyone who has ever had to live in fear of someone who supposedly loves them or has a close friend or relative who is living this way will start to work with others to end the" acceptableness" and "tolerance" of such behaviour. Indeed the only ones who really know went on in the private lives of the victims are..the victims most times.Once it has escalated to law enforcement involvement there is already a long history somewhere in the shadows. Too often people do not believe that "quiet nice family man" is indeed a violent batterer and abuser of his family. Too often in this country the victims of abuse are further victimized by the system this country uses to address domestic violence, Too often in this country the family of the batterer defends them and blames the victim. Too often in this country a mother trying to protect their children from further fear and harm and abuse is in turn further traumatized and victimized emotionally, financially and at times legallly in the errors of thinking of the system.
These organizations as well as others have recognized the lack of safety for victims in this country and are working for greater awareness and reforms.
Lets all help stop this situation that occurs for so many. Lets all put the blame where it belongs - on the batterer/abuser. Lets all stop protecting the abuser's rights and start worrying about the victims.
