Ranting and Venting
Posted 11 years agoHey,
I'm kinda ordering these into bullet-points as they come to mind. I just need to vent and rant a little cause honestly I'm not in the best frame of mind right now.
- It's only a phase
I'm so bloody sick and tired of hearing this. Yes, I know she'll grow out of having a temper tantrum every afternoon when she should be napping cause she's so ridicously tired. Believe me, I am very much aware of that. However, telling me that 'it's only a phase' is not helpful in any situation. What would be very helpful would be making me a hot drink and letting me bitch and moan without getting all high and mighty (especially when one does not have kids and can't understand the feelings of post partum depression). In fact, what would be even more helpful would be doing anything on my daily list of jobs that I try get through every single day while juggling an ever demanding baby.
- I'm only one person
Yup. I'm only human and there is only one of me. I can only do so many things at once and only so many things in a day. During the day and what little time I get to myself, I like to spend part of it trying to do something for myself (even commission work counts at something for myself at this point) to try and keep my sanity. While it may sometimes be difficult to believe, my sanity really does come before doing the dishes, vaccuming the floor, folding the massive pile of washing, hanging out the washing, cooking dinner and any other number of things that would be appreciated if you could try and get done at some point, so I don't have to worry about it.
- I don't get days off
I have forgotten what a weekend is and so has my partner. We know we're parents. It is very hard to forget that when you can't remember the last two whole days off in row. In fact, I haven't even had a whole night away from the baby since she was born.
- Depression doesn't go away over night
I take medication for it. Yes it helps, but I still have bad days just like everyone else. Side comments about how 'it's not that bad' or 'just ignore her, she'll go to sleep eventually' do not help my mental state of being at all. Trust me, if I stop taking my medication I will quickly become the teary, yelling, emotional wreck of a monster I was before I started my meds. Nobody wants that to happen, least of all myself.
- Housework
I don't even want to get into that.
There's probably more, but I really should start cooking dinner (since it won't cook itself). I may delete this journal later. I don't know.

Upcoming Commission Ideas for July
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
This is probably gonna be a bit of a ramble, but I would love some input in what you guys and gals think and what you would go for.
Feel free to suggest things that you would like to commission and if an idea is lousy.
It's gonna be broken down into two sections: art and crochet
Art:
1. Package deal - i.e. 1 full colour, 2 sketches, 2 chibis, 2 icons, 1 line art for x amount (but cheaper than what it would be to buy individually). They will probably take the span of 1 - 2 weeks. One spot would be available at a time.
2. Alphabet - your character with a letter of the alphabet for probably about $20. 5 spots at a time will be available
3. YCHs - clean ones, tentacle ones, bondage ones, all for $15 each. This will be offered as I do them.
Crochet:
I'm adding in crochet commissions in the form of plushes, small blankets (lap-blankets mostly) and maybe scarves and beanies. The price for each things will vary and probably won't be available until later in July, but still mentioning it now anyway so it's in mind.
1. Pokemon Lap Blankets - 1 pokemon i.e. vulpix, evee etc of your choice to be made into a lap blanket. Price undetermined as of yet. No example available until I've actually done one
2. Plushes - MLP (custom), pokemon, random critters. Undetermined how much this will cost as of yet
3. Scarves - $15 for 1 colour + $5 for every additional colour. Pattern may vary, does include infinity scarves as well as normal ones
4. Beanies - unsure yet
Anyway, lemme know what you all think and if you would/wouldn't go for any particular idea.
~Sunktokeca
P.S. Gonna hold a raffle at 600 watchers

Freak!
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
Rak's work caught fire on Wednesday night (he was scheduled for yesterday and today off anyway), but we don't know if he'll be going into work for the rest of the week yet or not.
If he doesn't, we're gonna be so screwed in terms of paying bills and buying things like food. I'll probably open for cheaper/emergency commissions if this is the case.
Just giving ya'll a heads-up on what's happening.
Baby Update: Maddy's crawling like a boss. She's getting into all sorts of trouble now, but it's okay =)

Sick (Commissioners Read, Please)
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
I'm sick, so things will be going slower until I feel better. Mostly it's just a head cold and a throat infection, but my tummy feels really queasy and so yup, doing stuff sucks.
Thanks for understanding.

Surgery
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
I saw the person about getting my gallbladder surgery last week (sorry for not updating sooner). I will be having my gallbladder removed by the end of July. WOOT!!!! I'm so looking forward to this surgery, though a little apprehensive as I've never had surgery before.
However, it coincides with us moving, which will be interesting to say the least. So moving will depend when surgery is, but looks like we'll be moving towards the end of July.
We have also decided to buy our first home when we move. So we're seeing the bank about that on Friday.

Decisions Have Been Made
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
While Rak and I were away during the week, we made a few decisions as to what we're going to do for the long term. Over the next couple of months, we will be packing, saving money and generally getting ready to move back to where we moved from ^-^ The reason for this is that we have the opportunity to buy out Rak's step-dad's business over the next 5 years. While it's a lot more work for us over the summer, it's not all that bad and we'll be in a better position financially. We shall also be buying our first home by the end of the year/start of next.
However, this puts a hold on my plans on doing my social working papers. At least in the short term. So, I'm going to re-double my efforts in commission work (which means, a few more YCH's and cheaper commissions for you all) to try and save as much money as we humanly can by summer. Then over summer, I will have to slow down (since I will be taking over the phone calls and paperwork).
So yup. That's our general plan.

Away
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
Starting tomorrow I'm gonna be out of town for the rest of the week. Going up to my in-laws and then my folks' place (for my Mum's birthday party). So I won't be doing much art while I'm away (although I will be checking messages on the odd occasion). I will probably crochet up a storm though XD
See ya'll in a week,

Career Paths
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
Lately I have been putting a lot of thought into becoming a youth worker/councillor. I already do a couple of hours a week with young girls and I enjoy it immensely. I get a sense of satisfaction from seeing them grow and become young adults. I also enjoy working with them simply because I do - always have.
I have talked it over with a couple of people who can help guide me in this direction (and whom I work with anyway) and they both agree that I would be really good at it and are very supportive - if it works out, I may also end up with a part time paid job, as the manager of the YWCA is looking to expand their staff and since I already do so much for them (and are on the board), if it becomes an option, she will probably hire me =) At least she hinted as much.
I will still be doing art and art commissions - as I still enjoy doing art and what not. This is just something that I have been pondering for some time now and felt the need to express.
Hope you're all well.

April + General Updates
Posted 11 years agoHeya!
As part of my idea to try and manage my depression (apart from seeing the doctor, which is happening this coming Monday x.x'), I thought I would put a few of my short to mid-term goals down in a journal. Also, I updated my header with some of my money goals for the year ^-^
So, next month I would like to start earning money again to help contribute to the household bills as well as to put aside for various one-off events - which includes an end of year trip as part of the volunteer work I do each week (for those who don't know, I do volunteer work with girls aged between 8 and 13 on a weekly basis) and my daughter's first birthday, which is in six months.
I was thinking of taking some small art commissions (sketches, line art, icons, badges) as well as doing some more YCBH's. I may take one or two full colours, but since my art time is fairly limited, these will only be occasionally. I will also take TWO ragdoll commissions ($25 for without clothes and $40 for with clothes. Examples: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd......69837797_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd......70023928_n.jpg http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12661325/ ). So if you're interested in any of those kinds of things. just keep an eye out.
Baby Update: Maddy's learnt to roll over and does so at every opportunity. It's really cute and I feel so proud that she's able to do it. Also, she'll be six months old in a few days, which is freaky.
Hope everyone's well.

Depression
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
I more than likely have depression (my plunket nurse was very worried when she saw us a fortnight ago). We had to take Maddy into the doctor's today and Rak got me to make an appointment. I see the doctor about it on the 24th. Hopefully things will improve from there, 'cause they're not getting any better in my head and I don't see it getting better in the long term without outside help.
So, yup. That's kinda why I've been ridiculously quiet lately and why there has been a lack of art and also why I'm struggling to cope with everything.

Rag Dolls
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
Due to some comments I received over the weekend, I will be opening for rag doll commissions later this month (I first want to finish my current doll, my trades, and two dolls for a friend of mine). There will be several options, but for the most basic will be around the $20 - $25 mark (depending on postage).
Here's an example of a finished (and clothed) simple doll:
Front: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd......69837797_n.jpg
Back: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd......70023928_n.jpg
I don't know if anyone would be completely interested or not, but yup, later this month/start of next, I will open for these. Options for furry ones are available too.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Alive + Update
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
I'm still alive, in case anyone was wondering. I've been up to all sorts of things, though this past week has been a bit of a mess. Everyone (myself included) in this house has had the flu. I won't go into details, but yeah, not fun.
So, I've been making ragdolls and have been working on TGoT cast ^-^ I've done Daenerys and I'm currently working on Cersei. However, my next two will be disney princesses for a friend of mine.
At the end of this month/start of next, I'm gonna be going up to my folks for a week, just to relax, chill, catch up with friends and family.
Working on a couple of trades, which I want to get done sometime this coming week.
Also, some excite!! Maddy can sit up unaided for periods of time now. It's really cool =)

Not Coping.
Posted 11 years agoHi.
I'm not coping very well at the moment. After I've finished up my current commission, I'm going to take some time to just relax and recharge. I don't feel like I'm doing very well mentally and I've already had one meltdown this week (and almost another one tonight), so yeah, I think some 'me time' is in order.

Pain Update 23/01/14
Posted 11 years agoHeya,
I had my ultrasound this morning. I have gallstones and I'm apparently passing them (which hurts like anything!) because there's no blockage at the bottom and no swelling either. The next step is to contact my GP sometime next week and that will probably lead to a surgical consult, which will probably result in me getting my gallbladder removed. The issue is not going to go away any time soon (if ever) and I rather like not being in doubled over, throwing up, kind of pain.
On the flip side, Tramadol knocks me out cold. I'm only taking a half dosage when I need it too. So I was the only one who was well rested last night XD
Baby News: Maddy's started having nightmares. It sucks. She cries and screams in her sleep and there's not a lot I can do to help. Apparently she'll grow out of it.
Sewing: I've started sewing. I enjoy it immensely and am making all of the baby clothes. I even make my own patterns. I'll probably post a picture of the little jersey I'm currently working on when it's finished.
Anyway, I'm gonna go back to working on commissions while the baby's asleep.

Weasyl
Posted 12 years agoHeya,
So, I've noticed a fair few people are leaving FA (yes, I know about it, no I don't want it discussed here. I have enough on my plate with Maddy and gallbladder/liver issues). I mentioned this when I first signed up, but I thought I'd remind you all; I have a weasyl account.
https://www.weasyl.com/~sunktokeca
Part of my new year's resolution was to become more active on different sites (weasyl being one of them funnily enough) and I have been endevouring to post more things there.
Also, yay get to find out what's wrong with me on Thursday. Will probably update again on Thursday afternoon when I know more ^-^

Ultrasound Confirmed
Posted 12 years agoHeya,
Looks like I'm going to be getting my abdomen scanned on the 23rd of Jan. I don't know what will happen from there, but it will give everyone an idea of what's going on inside of me. Fingers crossed that I won't need surgery - I like to think I've done well never needing surgery so far.
So yup, that's what's happening.
As a side note, I want to a comic on all the random things Maddy does.

Pain Update + Progress
Posted 12 years agoHeya,
So very early yesterday morning I woke up in absolute agony, again. Went to the hospital (again). Turns out they now suspect that it's an inflamed gallbladder. Last week I had two of these attacks and went to the doctor and she sent a referral to get an ultrasound. So, when I get that done (heaven only knows when... damn you NZ public healthcare for being so slow), we will know for certain what's wrong with me and what to do form there.
In the meantime, the ED doctor gave me a script for sooooooooo much painkillers. Have any of you ever taken tramadol before?
Also, decided that I will keep open my freebies journal. I will be doing these as warm ups and practices, so there's no gaurentee when they will be done or what pose (if full body) they will be.
Interested? See this journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5382223/
Hope everyone's well.
