She likes to climb things and she hasn't been climbing me so much since we got our second kitten, Maggie yesterday. However, I've just discovered that Maggie's claws are a lot longer and sharper. I discovered this as she latched onto my hip and tried to climb my back

SKEE!! We're getting a kitten!

skee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've been planning on getting a kitten for a little while now and we always planned for it to be a rescue kitten, since we weren't after any specific breed of feline. So just before Christmas we went and looked at the rescue kittens at the vets and there was this adorable little black kitten. It was also a male, which is what we wanted. However, when we went to pick him up the next day, he had been adopted. We put our name down with the vet to let us know when another male black kitten arrives from the SPCA for us to adopt! And today they rung us back to let us know!!!! So... we're probably gonna pick him up tomorrow if possible, if not we'll pick him up on Monday (today being Friday and a stunning afternoon so Rak has work until late (since it's gonna rain tomorrow and he does hay and silage contracting work)). His name will be Pepsi and since I work from home, I'll have time for a kitten too! So excited! Haven't had a pet for 3 years now. skee!!!!!!

So these are basically just me practicing different poses and I thought they would be a good way for you guys to get some really cheap art off me. I'll update this list as frequently as need be. Mostly to update the list of poses and such.

Volunteers Wanted (CLOSED)

I need some volunteers for examples of a commission special that I want to do in the New Year. This is not a first come, first serve basis and please do not be disappointed if I do not pick you. I however, need three volunteers and to to put your name forth, you must be watching me.

Does Anyone Know...?

Does anyone know or is someone who can compose and record for me a fairly short piece of music in a reasonable (by reasonable I mean 4 weeks) amount of time? It has to be something I can use in my demo reel in which I can/will be showing animation directors and is part of my final assessment for the year.
It's not vital for us to have music in our show reels, I just thought it would be nice to have it. I don't wish to use something copyrighted as that sends a bad message out to the work force that I intend to be entering. However, that being said, if someone is willing to compose and record (preferably to a high standard of recording) a 45 second background/instrumental piece of music for me, they will be credited (essentially it's an opportunity to get your name out there and in NZ no less =) ). I am willing to do a couple of pieces of art for this person.
In other good and happy news.... I've virtually passed my third and final year of study. I just have this last assessment to do and since it's basically just a compilation exercise and the only way to fail is not submit something, I'm looking to be qualified. I also only have six more weeks left of classes and then I have to be responsible and get a job ^-^ or something like that anyway.
Otherwise... how is everyone?

Musings, Doubts and Frustrations
Posted 14 years agoI don't normally post much about what's happening in my life or what goes through my mind, mostly cause I'm scared of what people will think and also because I believe my day to day life can be a bit dull. I mean, I pretty much spend most of my days either animating or drawing and lately, writing. It tends to be a bit repetitive, even if what I'm working on is different from week to week (mostly in the animating side it is).
However, in the past few weeks, I have been seriously considering my future. As some of you may know I'm in my third and final year of studying at Freelance Animation School. In 13 weeks (counting my two week break after next week), I will graduate and my diploma in 2D animation. It's a little daunting in a way. I will not have the comfort of a classroom and teachers to help me when I'm struggling or their reassurances that I'm actually doing it right and that it doesn't look as horrible as I think it does. Nor will I have the financial backing of the government via student allowance. I will be searching for work in some form or another.
I don't usually talk about this much, but I love dearly to have my own animation studio. In fact, I have already started planning it. It's called Wolf Studios. (I'm so original... not). I would love to animate Fox Fire and would probably make it into a series of sorts. However, animating your own stuff takes time and a lot of your own money. Although, my studio would primarily be for animation, I know I will have to take on a part time job (or, if luck has it and I'm short listed for Flux, do temp jobs for other animation companies). I want to do freelancing as well, but being realistic with myself, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
It's kind of frustrating in a way. I see people who are worse than me artistically and get flooded with commissions just by saying they're open and when I do, I get nothing. Not even a whisper. Even when I offer them for dirt cheap. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. It confuses me and in a way frustrates me to no end. It kinda makes me feel like I'm not good enough or something. I know I'm underselling myself and even doing so I can't even get a nibble. The fish just won't be baited, it seems.
On that note... I don't even know what I should charge or a picture. You're welcome to suggest what you think would be a fair price. I was considering making a visual price guide for people, but after the pre-pose commissions not even getting any notice, I don't know.
But yes. 11 more weeks of study (excluding holidays) and I'll be going to FurCoNZ. It will be good to catch up with people I haven't seen in a long while. Afterwards, I will be moving. I'm moving back in with my darling kitty, Raknar.
I'll just stop typing now. I'm rambling. Will probably delete this later.

No Comic Page This Week + Updates

So.. um.. yeah, there won't be a comic page this week (and possibly next, depends on school stuff) as I'm spending my weekend with my sweet kitty, Raknar. I get to watch five adorable huntaway puppies who are vexing me a bit cause they're little escape artists XD
Otherwise, I'm good. Had a long six weeks. We've been working on actual industry stuff and that will be on tv provided the company are satisfied with our work (which mine is looking to be like, so woot!). All I can say is that involves the kiwi that I put up a few weeks ago. But because I'm waiting on feedback and such I've been working on other things and depending how much work I have to do, there might not be a comic page next week either. I have some other art that I need to get done as well ^-^

Updates of Life (and comic)

How is everyone doing? I'm alright. Life has been pretty hectic for me lately. I have honestly animated 20 seconds of animation, which also included scripting, character design (minor tweakings to fit the story from the basic, basic models we were given), storyboards, layouts and post production. In the last week I have cleaned up 5 seconds of that and then coloured. I feel exhausted, to be honest. But, it's all good. I'm proud of what I have accomplished and I have learnt a lot.
This weekend... Tomorrow night I'm going to my parent's place. I have a dental appointment for a filling (maybe two) and a general check up on Friday and on Saturday I promised my mum I would attend my Nanna's memorial service and the unveiling of her headstone. I can't believe that it has been a year already since she passed away. It doesn't feel like that.
Also, I was planning on posting my comic, Fox Fire, this weekend, but with everything happening, I will be postponing posting it until my holidays in two weeks time. The comic is set in the world of Kaur and demons have gotten through to wreck havoc on the general population. You're welcome to ask me questions about it. I have the general plot, plotted out and the specifics up to part way through part two as. I have also sussed out the general character cast, though in the future I will consider having cameos of people. But, yes, questions are welcome. I won't tell anything specific about the plot that might give things away though ^-^

I'm sorry for the lack of art recently. Have had an assignment due today (my hand wants to fall off!) and I've been sick and hacking up phlegm all day for the past week.
On a really awesome note, I'm applying for work experience at Ninja Kiwi ( http://ninjakiwi.com/ ), who are a local flash game company here. The work experience counts towards the industry assignment of my Diploma this year as well as gaining valuable experience in the animation world. So, fingers and toes crossed that I will get the spot. It will be happening in the second half of the year, if I do get it.

One Week and Life Updates

Yup, I'm back at school now. My third and final year of study at Freelance Animation School (FAS). I have to admit that there's a ton of work involved and I've only been back for three weeks! I'm loving it though. Learning so much about the production process (in more depth than what I had previously learned) as well as industry software for 2D animators. Hopefully later on in the year I can play around in Maya and learn how to animate in 3D (not rigging or making the characters, just moving them.. technology doesn't like me enough to let me do rigging and stuff XD). I also get to meet a lot of contacts both in NZ and overseas and I am hoping that I will be able to start applying for jobs later on in the year. Art has been slow cause of school work, sorry guys. I have been trying, but been exhausted most nights. I'll get there in the end. I'm actually getting colour theory lessons and how to paint and stuff in photoshop this year too. So you will see a lot of experimental colour and character designs (mostly Fox Fire ones) from me in the future.

Yup, I'm back at school now. My third and final year of study at Freelance Animation School (FAS). I have to admit that there's a ton of work involved and I've only been back for three weeks! I'm loving it though. Learning so much about the production process (in more depth than what I had previously learned) as well as industry software for 2D animators. Hopefully later on in the year I can play around in Maya and learn how to animate in 3D (not rigging or making the characters, just moving them.. technology doesn't like me enough to let me do rigging and stuff XD). I also get to meet a lot of contacts both in NZ and overseas and I am hoping that I will be able to start applying for jobs later on in the year. Art has been slow cause of school work, sorry guys. As a side note, if there is any/enough interested, would you guys be interested in another more competition like thing soon - as in colouring or writing (for those who can't/don't want to colour)?

Posted 15 years agoMerry Christmas everyone! I probably won't get to say this later since I'm going to be pretty busy over the next week or so.
Thank you all for all your favourites, shouts, watches, comments, trades, commissioning me and just your support in general over the past year (and a bit, I believe). I really do appreciate them all and I'm sorry for the times I've been slow and just in general. It's been a bit of a tough year, but over all it's been alright and hopefully next year will be even better.
As mentioned above, I won't be about in the next week or so. Tomorrow is being spent with my wonderful boyfriend, Raknar's family's place, then boxing day with my family and then on the 29th I turn 21! It's gonna be busy.
But I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday.

Such Perfect Timing...
Posted 15 years agoSuch perfect timing for my bag to break. it couldn't wait to break before crossing the final road to get to where i'm living.. and while having to carry my box of animations (like my whole year's worth of school work) home as well... yayyyy... with one day of school left.. looks like i'll be bag hunting this summer...
On a side note.. i think my mint plant isn't getting enough sun.. before you say 'but Sunk, you could just move it so that it's sitting in the sun' ... i do have it sitting just below my windowsill, where it would normally get plenty of sun.. my roommate has this habit of sleeping all day (and half the night) in the room, making it as dark as possible...
also, i won't be about this weekend. have FurCoNZ (New Zealand Furry con...)

Posted 15 years agoI passed my major exam for the year!! I'm so unbelievably happy and relieved. I was so scared I was gonna fail, but I didn't. I passed... woooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Find out in roughly 4 weeks if I managed to pass the year and get into 3rd year.

I was wondering would anyone be interested in seeing any of my animations? I'm just curious. I mostly animate traditionally, but I was alerted to this awesome animating program (Plastic Animation Paper) and have been trying to apply my skills more digitally. So, would people be interested in seeing my animations? Also, what about animated commissions?
Also on that note, I made myself an animation account (where I will be posting some of my animations (hopefully on a regular basis) as well as some concepty type art). It can be found here: wolfstudios
