Needing to get myself out there
General | Posted 9 years agoNow that I've had a food truck for just about a year, I'm taking a look back and am kind of flabbergasted by how many hours I've put into the business. Trying to have a social life has been tough. The good news is I'm not on a schedule of waking up at 4am anymore, so I can actually hang out in the evenings, if any furs from my area want to get together sometime. I really do want to have friends, it's just hard when you're working 6-7 days a week to make sure your business survives.
I guess I'm a Greymuzzle now.
General | Posted 11 years agoI forgot that FA doesn't automatically update ages on your birthday, but yeah. I turned 30 a couple weeks ago. Went on a camping trip instead of having a big party. Plus, the day after my birthday I started a new job so that has been where my mind has been the last couple weeks. It pays more than my old job and has less responsibility, so yay for that!
Amazingly cheap petrol!
General | Posted 11 years agoI just scored 200 free fuel points at Kroger for not beating the shit out of their punk-ass little cart boy. I really hope I got the little prick fired!
Motor City Fur Con is a no-go.
General | Posted 12 years agoI did want to come to the first year of MCFC, but buying a car took all the extra money I had for this year. The new job does pay better than the old one, but there are just too many things going on in April, and basically I had to choose between doing the fur con or going to the Columbus Zoo/Aquarium for the weekend of my mate's birthday.
If my money situation were to suddenly change, I may pop in for Saturday only or something. But as far as I know right now, no one I know is going either.

New job, new hip (kinda)!
General | Posted 12 years agoI got a new job as a restaurant manager! I don't want to say where yet just because I haven't signed the paperwork yet. I just got my doctor's release to go back to work today, but it looks like I can give Taco Bell my 2 weeks' notice at the same time. While I will have to take a couple buses to work at first, this will give me the boost in income to find a car I can afford soon!
Also I found out that the tumor they took out a couple weeks ago was much bigger than any of us thought. They removed a mass about 5 cm (baseball size) that was pressing against my hip joint, so all the pain that I was feeling that "couldn't be related to the tumor" was directly caused by the tumor. I love it when I get to prove doctors wrong.
Everything's coming up Sebastien!

Recovering from surgery
General | Posted 12 years agoThe tumor was removed yesterday and right now the pain from the incision is really only slightly worse than having the tumor to begin with, so I can't really complain. The worst part of all of it was the botched attempt at my first IV; the only time and IV was more painful was when I was 11 and found out I'm allergic to lidocaine.
I'll be off work for 2 weeks. If I do have to go back to my current job, then I'm gonna have to pick up some evening hours because just working mornings isn't paying enough, plus in the evening I'll be able to use the car instead of hiking through the snow to work. I use the word "hiking" literally since the township no longer requires people to shovel snow or salt their sidewalks in the winter, which is why the doctors ordered me off work for two weeks instead of just one like they originally planned.
Thank you for everyone who wished me luck with this. Even with the incision hurting a bit it still is a relief not to feel that painful lump against my spine each time I stand or sit.

Surgery December 6th
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm getting this tumor taken out on the 6th. Will be off work for at least 2 weeks, maybe more, pending a full physical capacities evaluation on the 20th. I think this is going to ease a lot of the pain in my lower back once I recover.
I plan on using the time off to find another job. Even if I get promoted to full manager, the pay is still an embarrassment.
Wish me luck,

Back problems continue
General | Posted 12 years agoI've got a very painful lump on my low back that seems to swell up at certain times and make it impossible for me to walk due to the pain. My physical therapist looked at it and determined that whatever it is, it's pressing on a nerve and needs to be removed. They think it's a lypoma, which is basically a fat-tumor. I have to see the plastic surgery department at the hospital to set up sometime to have the surgery done.
This has been the main reason I'm not online much anymore or going to furmeets. I hope my life can get back to normal and I can resume getting back in shape soon, because my physical activity right now is quite limited and work has cut me to about 12 hours a week, so I'm going to be pretty broke for awhile as well.

Almost time to relax
General | Posted 12 years agoOne of my classes is done for the summer. The other class finishes next week. So far it looks like my grades will keep me on financial aid so I can finish my degree next year.
I really want to start going to meets, or at least going to visit my friends again.

Not intentionally neglecting my friends...
General | Posted 12 years agoMy summer class schedule has both classes on top of each other for 6 weeks this summer, so I've been extremely busy with that. Not to mention I had to go to Chicago yesterday for the National Restaurant Association's yearly show for one assignment. It was cool to see the restaurant show, but on a much larger level it sucked because I was in Chicago.
I'll have a lot more free time at the end of June. Til then, everything is a time crunch.

General | Posted 12 years agoI have injured my right paw and it's likely broken. Maybe I'll go to FCN on Friday although now not really feeling up to it.
