So I found an alternative mobile VR controller
Posted 5 years agoThis one is also cross-platform, so Superbird: Furry Planet & Accounting For Violence will soon be both Steam VR capable and Nolo CV1 VR capable.
Unlike the Finch Shift, Nolo CV1 VR has been out of beta for a while, and I don't see any really bad reviews (although reaching straight up can apparently cause glitches), and it's available to gamers.
Given that the Finch Dash has been out for several years and it's still not available to gamers (or Finch forgot to update the website order form), I think the Finch Shift won't be available to gamers for a long time either. =/

Posted 5 years agoHannah, Zombie Hunter Chapter 2 takes place in hell.
So far the ideas I've come up with....
1.) Fiery zombies and spikes that come up and down (in the first level it's obvious where they are, but in level 3 it's a memory test)
2.) Spikes that come down from the ceiling without warning (once you get close they swoop down)
3.) Spirit water that goes down for 20 seconds when you press a switch. If it goes back up, it will drain your health.

Posted 5 years agoa.) Having a generic model for foxes, cats, etc and just painting colors on them are less work for my artist friend
b.) I can do the voice acting for Superbird, instead of getting my brother to do voice acting for the Lonely God (He only have 1,500 MB of bandwidth a month)
c.) It'd be rated E, so kids can play it.
d.) It enables me to make a game with a very basic plan
e.) Much more wholesome messsage- your quest is to make random people happy and gather "likes!"
f.) It can still do 3 DoF motion controls, as long as I make Superbird telekinetic.
g.) People who are watching me (I assume) want to see updates related to my character.

My Disability check still hasn't come in, which has made this month so, so extremely difficult.
I'm behind $200 + on bills, we have no groceries, we just ran out of toilet paper ... ugh, this month has not been kind.
To top it off, my commission sales are on a all time low.
I'm hoping to sell a few bundles to at least get some grocery money.

Posted 5 years agoSo with tax season coming up, if I'm getting my usual refund, I'm probably going to buy some Finch Shift controllers.
What are they?
They're cross-platform 6 DoF controllers, or to put simply, REAL VR controllers. They are compatible with Steam VR AND google cardboard, which means that I can actually develop for Steam VR, and just test it on my phone.
I think we both knew I was going to go the 6 DoF route sooner than later. 3 DoF is essentially a laser pointer, and while it IS fun, more people would rather use two hands and be able to reach in and out like (ahem) reality.
Mystic Planet will be coming to Steam VR before Android though. Right now the Finch Shift controllers are only for developer use. I hope that'll change in about a year so ya'll can play it on VR and spend only $255 instead of like $500 plus get a gaming computer. =x

I've committed to releasing the beta of Quest Ferrante. However, if I decide I want to take a break to work a little on Accounting For Violence, my VR game, no problem.
But Quest Ferrante is not VR and I'm having a hard time designing just one level right now. =x
I dunno. For some reason I feel a lot less depressed when I'm developing for VR, even if it's just mobile VR.

Compiling right now. Bear in mind this is compatible with Windows and Mac, but you still need the Dash Finch controller. It's a little awkward using WASD to look around and the right hand to pick up cubes, but it works.
In this update, the hands and the cube are shinier, plus there's gonna be 5 new levels.
In other news....
I may have a lot less time to develop soon. I got offered a C# application programming job. It's starting out as freelance for a tryout. If it works out, it'll become full time with benefits and a W2.

I was thinking October 20th (which is my birthday, also happens to be my day off) at 11 am Furcadia Standard Time.
How do we attend?
Stuff to do before the party
1. First of all, go to furcadia.com to download the player and create your account.
2. When on Furcadia, type "time" to see what Furcadia Standard Time is for you, so you know when 11 AM FST is.
3. On Pounce, click Add -> Add Dream, and type in "furc://davidi:"
On the party
1. Double click on furc://davidi: on pounce to teleport to my dream
2. Type in !party to go to the party room.

Posted 6 years agoSo my nephew Sean and I were playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles together, and I asked him, "Want me to make you a VR game where you wield ninja weapons? I can't make it about the Turtles, but I CAN make it about ninjas." and he said yeah.
....then I realized I have a very good reason to do that ASAP.
His birthday is next month. :D
I'm sure he would LOVE that as a 7th year birthday gift. :3

I might have to make it like early Doom in graphics, 'cause all I can find of ninjas is sprites.
