Posted 6 years agoThe boolean tool (specifically, subtarct, which drills holes) in Probuilder is very finicky. Sometimes it causes Unity to crash, sometimes it doesn't work at all for no reason. It's also hard to set the materials on the inside of the holes.
So what do I do as a solution? I install the UDK-- Unreal Engine 3's level editor-- to make level meshes.
Well, I have to do a getting started tutorial and hope the .fbx export works really well with Unity.
I'm sure it will though. This is the Unreal engine we're talking about, not 3D game studio.

The controller works more like a laser pointer. You can't reach in/out.
I'm not disappointed though- I knew it was gonna be lower quality than PC VR- but it does make this slightly challenging to develop. Had to make the character really short.
Also, unexpected upside. The volume control buttons aren't hardwired to change the volume. I have to program them to turn the volume up or down OR...I could program them to do something else, like cycle through weapons.

But thank goodness, IT CONNECTS TO MY LAPTOP DIRECTLY <3
That'll make my work WAY easier. If I was using Unity remote, I'd have to connect my phone to the computer and I only have one USB cable for my phone.

Posted 6 years agohmmm, that $60 controller was for one controller, not a pair. To be fair, most of the VR games I wanted to make for mobile would be fine with one controller anyway....
Well, with the new Oculus Quest coming out, not much point in going all out with a mobile VR game by buying two. Granted, I won't be able to develop for Oculus Quest anytime soon, and the controllers are way better (Finch Dash doesn't even have a grip button)
For now, I'm working on Davidi Hunt. Making it compatible with Android.

Posted 6 years agoUndyne is my new bird by the way. Greencheek conure, and she's ADORABLE.
She also makes quacking sounds.
When I take her out, and nestles up with my neck and stays there for about an hour. It's so soft and fuzzy.
Only downside is, her claws are a little sharp and I don't know how to trim them. =x

Just found out about it. Makes for an excellent addition to Photoshop.
And if those rumors are true about Adobe threatening to sue people who use older versions, (first assumption when someone makes an outrageous claim like that on Facebook should be that it ISN'T TRUE. When Snopes looks up any ridiculous claim they're almost always false) this seems like a good alternative.
And if it's not true (probably isn't), this software has some filters that photoshop does not so.

Posted 6 years agoFirst I was thinking I'd start on Not ANother FPS, then the Superbird Saga, then I decided I'd update Davidi Hunt to be compatible with mobile.
I'm just really unhappy right now, feeling like nobody cares about my projects (except for the people who can't run them), and it's making it hard to focus on anything right now.
It's pretty sad when you see "5 downloads" on a project you slaved for months on and think, "People are starting to get interested after ten years."
I'm such a loser... >.>
Though Superbird ANd The Quest for Something was my second most popular game, and I've been wanting to do the Saga for years...just making a full game from the top-up is a lot of work. =x

Been feeling depressed, and it's easier to update something already existing than to build something new.
There's a daily challenge mode. I'd also like to port this game to Android and set up a couple of leaderboards- one for the daily challenge, one for a total score.

Posted 6 years agoI'm having another depressive episode where I'm thinking, "Do I REALLY wanna do all the work to make a game just to make one person happy?" and the last time this happened, it ended with "I'm doing the one I want."
Which was The Quest For Something.
And this time it's the game I've been planning for years...and at this point, I'm ready to make it.
Still, I only have one world left in Yure Goes Hop Hop. I'll be finishing that first.

Then again, this game doesn't take place on earth so I guess I COULD add non-earth-moon stuff like water, as I did before.
