Looking for artist(s) to work on computer game
Posted 5 years agoFirst of all, while i haven't posted in a while, i have a lot to post and i'm active here most days if you need me.
That being said lets talk about game design. Please note that while you do not have to read everything i write here most of it will be important for you and i to determine not only if this is right for you, but right for me too.
For a long time i, like most creative people, have wanted to make computer games. Unlike most however, just over 2 years ago, i actually set up a computer game project. Not just for a single game, but for a company that will create and publish computer games, novels, and possibly other things too. A grand dream into which i have put much thought and time.
When i set up this idea i also set up a team. Initially the team was 5 people, and we all collectively understood that our first game would have to be a labour of love. None of us have the money to fund the project up front and as a result we would all have to dedicate time to creating the game against the side of our own lives. This has not changed, however, i was willing to invest up front in software for those who needed it, and i still am. This will be discussed later.
As it stands, and stood, we began as i say just over 2 years ago. At first progress was very fast. I developed the game and worked on the writing, we had 1 dedicated coder, 2 dedicated artists and 1 member who would split between the two. With this amount of people the first level or portion of the game should have taken only a month or two to complete and could have been sold to then pay everyone while we worked on more levels as dlcs, splitting the full cost of the game over these small installments.
However this was not the case. While the writing and development under my care moved fast, the coding was held up by a lack of working assets because unfortunately we had many problems with the artists. This isn't a call out post, i love them all very much, but for their own reasons we were unable to get any work done on assets and that issue chokeholded the entire project.
Roll on 2 years.
This project is extremely simplified. With even one artist creating every single piece i've worked out that if they worked 6 hours a day it would take only 8 weeks to complete something we could sell. I understand people have work of course, so lets assume 4 hours. This entirely depends on the speed at which the artist draws of course, but in only a couple of short months we could be pushing this project forward and even making living wages based on it, allowing us to devote ourselves full time. Then once this game is completed we have at least six other small term easy money projects sat in the wings for development and several larger long term projects as well. My hopes are that we will expand the team after the first game nears or reaches it's conclusion and the additional money from any sales made will then fund the next game in advance, which will in turn build us into a full fledged development team.
So where do you come in, and what are we looking for?
Well first of all while we're currently looking for artists, if you're interested in working on games as a coder don't turn away just yet. While i'm not sure how long it would be until we expanded the team, for our next projects we will DEFINITELY need more than one coder and you could be just what we're looking for.
That being said what we really want right now are artists and i know there's a lot of you out there. We're looking for someone who can complete one full body coloured picture per day, likely in around 4 to 6 hours depending on your schedule. You will also be required to draw backgrounds and likely some assets (little things like item pictures and text borders).
It will be important that an artist (or artists) can style match. There are ways we can ensure this is easier but we want a specific look for the game and we will ask that your work reflects this style. If you consider yourself extremely specialized (cartoons, chibi, curvy etc) then this likely isn't the position for you. Similarly i am not looking for the next Da Vinci, everyone's style comes with unique charms and i'm more interested in your work ethic, your consistency (your work style matching itself every time) and your personality. That being said i do expect an appropriate level of skill, i don't want to offend people but i will have to turn down applicants if they don't meet these requirements.
If you, an artist, wish to learn more about the project or would like to put yourself forward, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am available through notes or can be found on discord (Duck#4543) and would love to talk to you about it. If you have a friend who would be interested, or know an artist who wants to break in to this business, do please talk to them about it or simply share this post around. I'd sure appreciate that.
The first game project, to keep it's development short and easy, is going to be a dating sim, but with a twist. We've worked very hard on making this game enjoyable and atypical, and while we aren't going to give away all the details publicly right now, we will discuss this is more detail with you during or after application.
So please, if you would like to make your dreams come true and help us to create a brand new fantasy studio, talk to me. I want to hear from you. You could be just what i'm looking for.

Posted 6 years agoI've actually been here the whole time but i've posted 1 picture in a year.
I was gonna post today but it took me such a long time to sort out all the pictures which hadn't been posted, that now it's 10:30pm and i'm tired.
I'll post them some time tomorrow evening, expect a reasonably large art dump then

Do you want my money? Enquire within.
Posted 7 years agoYou need some cashola? Well i’m a commissioner and i want some fuckin’ ART. Apply below or in notes and lets get this done.
How to apply:
Give me some examples of your most relevent and current work.
Tell me what you arent willing to draw and what you LOVE to draw or draw best.
Tell me your prices.
Tell me if you have ideas of what you want to draw of my characters.
Give me your turnaround times
How to be most likely to be chosen:
Availabilty is very important. The sooner you can finish my art the better, i am NOT waiting weeks. I will be taking refunds from anyone who cannot meet a deadline or stay in contact.
I am not on a strict budget but i’m not paying $100 for a single character piece.
Deals deals deals. I do want to pay you fairly for your work but if you offer me discounts on species/fetishes/bulk orders then BAM i’m invested.
Open mindedness. I want art anything from detailed scenery to incredibly lewd porn. If you are only vanilla or only draw certain species then you are less likely to be chosen.
Arneln.
aeriatlas. This project is my baby, if you want to get involved and do Arneln commission stuff i’ll be really into that.
These arent limited i just dont have unlimited money. Organise to do a single pic, a comic, an animation or a project with me i’m creative and open minded.
If you want to know more about the Arneln project join my discord channel linked on my front page!

Patreon, the real discussion.
Posted 8 years agoA lot of people say that Patreon is a bad thing because it stops them being able to see art for free, but that's about as far as these arguments ever go. I'm going to explain here exactly why Patreon is a bad idea, not just for commissioners and lurkers but genuinely for artists as well. If you're not interested i'll post a short TLDR at the end. Also my RWASD keys aren't working properly so i appologise in advance for typing errors.
Ok so i'm sure that many artists begun using patreon because they wanted to believe they had a solid salary coming in based on their artwork, to pay bills and such. There's nothing wrong with that at all in fact i wish that could be the case. What you don't realise is you're actually gimping your ability to earn money and here's why: exposure. Advertisement is king, in a way. I've been a commissioner on this website for years and have known many others. The very first thing i do, that anyone does when looking at a potential artist for a commission, is look through their gallery to see examples of their work and the things they want to draw. But you know what? If half your gallery is locked behind a paywall, no matter how small that paywall is, then i don't HAVE any examples. So you know what i'll do? I'll just go to someone else. Art is very much a competative industry. No matter how good your art is, i can assure you it isn't worth a monthly fee when so many other artists provide it free of charge.
Let me give you an example. You want some good food, so you go out to a resteraunt. You sit at the table and ask for a menu. The waiter says "of course you know already that we're very good at what we do. You have to pay to be able to see the menu each month, and then pay for the food seperately". You'd just stand up, thank him for his time, then leave and never come back. Resteraunts don't have a guarentee people will buy their product or service each month, but they don't charge for permission just to enter their premises, they work harder to show off their products to people who can then buy their own and that's how they get their business. This is how artists also function, commissions are their service. Once art is finished it's posted publically to bring in their next customers. Everyone loses out when you hide completed works, especially you.
Example 2. Fred's Sheds is the finest shed building contractor in the area. He works very hard and does an extremely good job of his sheds. My back garden is empty and i want a brand new shed from him, so i phonee him up. Do you think he'll say "Yes, for a small fee per month, i can let you see all the new sheds i've made and you'll get exclusive access to my PREMIUM shed pictures, which you can enjoy whenever you like. No? Does that sound weird? That's because i'm not here to pay for products he's already finished. He already got paid to make those. And if he made them for himself i don't care about them, i don't want to see them. I'm here because i want MY shed to be made, and that's what i am here to pay for.
Alright so by now you're sick of examples so let me move on to another point. Third parties. Maybe you don't realise it but Patreon is charging you for your subscriptions. You do realise they are an entirely pointless leech. Their entire business model is to make you think you can get something better from your art job, by doing less work and getting security from your fans. But let me be clear. You do not earn extra money through patreon. Not only that but they then take their cut out from under it. If you actually want people to have to pay you just to see your art, just charge them for this month's "art pack" and take the money directly. You're shitting away profit for no reason.
And this leads on to the final portions of the argument. Is Patreon really a bad thing? It's similar to kickstarter and GoFundMe. It works. But not for everyone. I'm sure there are some people, even some artists, whose unique business model works best when provided through this service. But 99% of you need to go look at Patreon again and think "is this really for me?" Because i assure you, no-one is winning but Patreon. No-one else gets anything out of this. Your bill fears aren't actually gone, your commissioners aren't getting anything out of it, you aren't earning more money. Personally i think about half of the people using Patreon only do it because they want to draw whatever they want rather than commissions and still think they should be paid for it. I enjoy playing computer games but i don't get paid to do it. You get paid for work. So stop feeling miserable and get to work, everyone else does it. If you actually worked hard and did 2 commissions a day, which is very easy to achieve, you could earn much higher than minimum wage without trying to con money from the guillable and obsessed. If you're subscribed to someone's Patreon, rethink if you're actually getting anything out of it. I guarentee that artist isn't worth the price, thousands of pictures get uploaded free of charge every day, just look elsewhere.
TL:DR. Patreon is just sucking money out of artists by making them think they're getting a better life of more money. It's a scam. No-one wins but them. You're cucking yourselves and your consumers.
Comments won't be disabled. If you're here to cry, that's what your momma's for. I want people to come and explain why Patreon is actually good for them, because i'm an open minded person and an adult. Talk to me. If you can genuinely change my mind, i'll even consider subscribing to you. If your argument is "artist have a right to be paid for their work" that's what commissions are for, don't waste my time. If it's "i want to draw whatever i feel like, people can pay to see it" then art is your hobby not your job. So you shouldn't be paid for it. You're just going to look like an idiot in front of everyone who reads this. Legitimate arguments only please.

Dungeons and Dragons (Dicks and Ducks) freebie kinda
Posted 8 years agoDoes anyone want their sona turning into a DnD 3.5 character? I cant promise i'll do them all but i'll try, it just may not all be tonight cause i work long hours.
If you comment below with a ref (or description), your general fighting style and favored weapon, any magical abilities your sona generally uses if they are a spellcaster, a little bit of personality that sort of thing. I'll be able to do most of it from there. I may need to ask extra questions. Oh and height, to determine size catagory.
Ps: i'll be making these legit, and they will be lvl5 unless you actually request a specific level and build for a dnd party you are in. I will not be making OP characters. You cant br a demigod, etc.
