Smol Updates
Posted 6 years agoNew year, new Squarepusher album on the 31st, life is good! .w. Also hoping to make some music for a game Note's been working on, as ambitious as that sounds [I'm referring to myself here too]. We'll see.
And now that I've updated you all, I shall now literally update myself as that is a robot-kind of thing to do, beeeeep beep boop.

[Another] Update
Posted 6 years agoYo. Sorry for going all silent for a while, guess I hung out with Note long enough to inherit his ability to ghost/be lazy, yikes. Nothing wrong with that though, happens to everyone. Except he feels like he's more prone to it than the average peep. Soooo yeah.
Anyway, I've still been exposing myself to more and more electronic music and will gladly try to post more about some tunes that I really dig. Speaking of which, did y'all hear Squarepusher's releasing a new album [Be Up A Hello] in January of next year? Hyyyyyype! Think he'll be returning to his acid house roots with songs similar to his works in the album Hard Normal Daddy [yes, that is the actual title] and perhaps the EP Damogen Furies. Just a guess though. I got the album preordered and everything, super looking forward to it. Here's a remix of one of the songs from the album [the original is okay too, I just enjoy the remix a lil' more]
Speaking of releases, I suppose it's probably a good time to start polishing/making some tracks to post hereespecially considering I deleted my older songs cause I wasn't all that proud of 'em or something. I've actually went ahead and created a theme for myself [cause I've seen a couple peeps do that] and will give it a few more listens before sharing it! Now that'll be something I'm proud of. Hopefully. As for general activeness, I'll attempt to do more stuffs starting next year, maybe release a first album/EP of some sort too cause why the heck not?
Thanks for sticking around, your ears will be stimulated soon. .w.

Midi Fighter 3D Get! [and an update on general stuffs]
Posted 7 years agoHooooooly heck y'all. I know I've been away for a pretty long time, as always, but let me just say that I'm a very happy planedragon right now. .w. I've been saving up some money for a Midi Fighter 3D lately. What's a Midi Fighter 3D, you may ask? it's a DJing controller that's similar to a Launchpad except it has 16 main buttons instead of the Launchpad's 64 main buttons. While this does sound bad, the MF3D at least has arcade-style buttons which help for rapid playback and whatnot, plus it has 4 banks to select (each bank can have 16 sounds on it, so you're basically getting 64 sounds except condensed) and has 6 side buttons you can set to do various things in your DJing software. You can also rotate the unit around while pushing the buttons to cause certain effects to happen, which is very neato.
Blah blah blaaaaaah, it's basically a fun device for general DJing and fingerdrumming. I finally bought one during a Black Friday event (which started way before Friday, hm.) recently and received it today. Not gonna lie, had some difficulties trying to get it to work but after persevering, I found myself playing around with premade sound packs and even taking a few sounds from some of my favorite songs and messing with those. Unfortunately, I was sorta using a trial version of Ableton Live 10 (the audio software I'm using) and I can't save in that version which was a bummer. Was. As I told my bud Note about my Midi Fighter, he mentioned that he had a keytar lying around that was collecting dust and apparently inside the box for it was a key for Ableton Live 10 Lite! Soooooooooo yeah, I can do stuffs now.
Speaking of doing stuff, I can't make any promises for specific timeframes but I do have ideas for stuffs to make in Rytmik Ultimate, just gotta do them at some point. I've been doing.. alright, I suppose. Delved into some other musical artists that I'll speak about soon™ so that's cool...yeah.And as for the real me, I'm getting hecked over and over with school, procrastination and stuff. Bleh. If my inactivity is a nail in the coffin, school is the nail in the nail in the coffin. I'll survive, it's just been hella annoying here and there.
Alright, I suppose that's all for now. Always remember to take your daily dose of funky fresh beats, they're good for you.

Stuff I [or rather, Note] found - DropMix
Posted 8 years agoHoly heck, my buddy Note got the card game DropMix as an early birthday present! Why do I care about his present so much? DropMix is a game where you place down cards onto an electronic board, each card containing a loop from a certain song, whether it's the drums in Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Tricky" or the vocals in Carly Rae Jepson's "Call Me Maybe", etc. When the card's placed down, it'll play that loop over and over, and you can add more parts to the music by placing down other cards alongside it, this is the mixing part of DropMix and I loooove it~! There are two modes that get a bit more technical and whatnot and one mode where you can just mess around and get creative with mixing stuff, by the way.
Originally the game came out last year in September with the price of $100. I assume that, along with having to own a phone/tablet and buy batteries made others not want to get it all that much (though it was mostly the game's price). Then it got a price drop and Note and I were able to give it a whirl, we had lots of fun with the game! .w. Ima go an link a few thingies below, perhaps this might be your cup of tea as well..
Oh yeah, happy new year everyone, let's have a rockin' 2018!

Stuff I found - Soulwax's Under The Covers Mixes
Posted 8 years agoOh. My. Goodness. Alright, I really meant to talk about this sooner but I just kept forgetting and forgetting but heh, here I am, ready to talk about Soulwax, also known as 2manydjs. They're a electronic/alt-rock group who made a particular project called Radio Soulwax, where they created a day's worth of hour-long mixes to play on their website. Within Radio Soulwax, there were three specific mixes that caught my attention immediately after I began listening to them, and they're the Under The Covers mixes.
I absolutely love the UTC mixes, all three of them basically take all sorts of songs (newer, older, popular, lesser known, etc.) and add their Soulwax magic to 'em with all sorts of DJing stuffs. There were several moments where I just couldn't bring myself to listen to the originals of the songs featured in the mixes cause the UTC versions were just that good. (Thankfully some can be found to purchase (through iTunes, at least) or just find around the internet) The audio's only half of it all too, the visuals bring everything together as well. Each song has its own animation while its playing and the clever thing about them is that they'll mostly be animations of the song's album artwork, which is awesome!
Ima just go and link and give a description to all three of the mixes now, but even my words alone can't do 'em justice, ya gotta listen to them yourself!
Just uhhh, keep in mind that there'll probably be some NSFW parts, I'll definitely notify about those. The visual ones, at least. Without further ado...
Under The Covers Vol. 1
https://vimeo.com/25861552 43:59-46:55 contains NSFW imagery (though that part of the mix sounds pretty dope, not gonna lie
Volume one, the mix that started it all. I believe this one had the most foreign (to me, at least) music out of the three, not a good or bad thing, just something I noticed. While this isn't my favorite volume, it's still pretty hecking fantastic. I especially like the song they end with, Fischerspooner - Emerge.
19:13-24:13 is one of my favorite parts, especially when Kraftwerk - Tour De France fuses with Diplo - Percão, that was pretty noice. (Fun fact, Percão, while in a different language, is hella explicit. You can uhhhh, find out how on your own. Or don't. At least the rhythm sounded nice, heh.)
Under The Covers Vol. 2
https://vimeo.com/26149014 14:40-16:03, 20:44-22:19 and 34:05-35:25 contain NSFW imagery
Volume two, the first mix out of the three that I listened to, actually. Note remembered a friend showing it to him and he listened to it, but he wasn't as interested. He must've been half deaf the first time he listened cause the second time he gave the mix a shot, he was dancin' through the whole thing, heheh. He says this one is his favorite and I don't blame him. In my opinion it's better than volume one, buuuuuut, it's still not the best volume. Again though, it's hella good.
29:32-34:20 is one of my favorite sections, I just can't stop bobbing my head whenever Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You's involved. it really enhances Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control with how when that song's small vocal part ends, Stardust's guitar riff kicks in, it's just sooooo good. The Clash - The Magnificent Dance also makes a very good enterance and continues its funkiness once Boys Noize & Erol Alkan - Lemonade wanders in. 2manydjs, thank you for blessing my ears with this masterpiece.
Under The Covers Vol. 3
Volume three, my absolute favorite out of all the mixes. One and two got pretty hectic at some points but I can really feel the energy that three has to offer. I think I can thank the handful of electronic music that's more prevalent here than in the other mixes, but even then the other songs still hold up well (probably cause they get the Soulwax treatment, heh).
37:23-39:51 is a really nice part, Loops Of Fury - I Need adding more of a beat to Motörhead - Ace Of Spades is pretty sweet but once that's out of the way, I Need hecking soars on its own, but it gets even better. 38:52 starts a long buildup to introduce Nid ϟ Sancy - Skinny Fit (Soulwax edit) and once the drop happens (39:21), oh my goodness. I-I just cannot fathom its breakbeat beauty.
26:27-32:50 also gets an honorable mention. The Specials - Gangsters' guitar part acts as a nice end to Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime (Soulwax edit) and beginning to Zombie Nation - Tight (Etienne De Crecy remix), the rest of the transitions sound great too.
Sooooooo, yeah. That's all I have to say about Soulwax. I'd go look at some of their other stuff as well, which may not be as great as the UTC mixes, but c'mon, they're Soulwax, I bet they've got some good stuff lying around.
Heh, hope this makes up for the long hiatus between posting stuff. It's most likely going to happen again but eh, might as well leave something coolio here while I have it in my mind. I actually feel really inspired by the UTC mixes too, to the point where I'd like to make my own sort of mix, but instead featuring music as seen in video games, mostly indie titles like Super Hexagon, Zenzizenzic, Monolith, etc. I can't promise progress or anything, it's just an idea for now. Still though. .w.

Stuff I found - Daedelus
Posted 8 years agoWow, uhhhh, Daedelus is more legit than I thought. (No offense to him, it's just my naiveness.) Just like I always do, I just got bored and decided to search through an artist's music after liking their previous work in a game I played or something. These are some highlights from my findings.
This one's probably a biiiit too abrasive, I still like it though.
Not Daedelus but it's included in a collab album with him and this person, plus it's too short yet sweet to not share
I just love the energy in some of his music conveyed by the drumwork, lead instruments, etc. These songs and his many others are very fun listens.

Stuff I found - Nidhogg 2's Soundtrack
Posted 8 years agoNidhogg 2 released not too long ago and I couldn't help but check out its soundtrack seeing how I liked the music for the other games messhof created: Nidhogg and Flywrench. So yeah, I checked it out and... wow. It's awesome. Here's some of my faves.
The soundtrack was created by the combined forces of Mux Mool, Geotic, Osborne, Doseone, and Daedelus. I only recognize Daedelus from Flywrench, everyone else is new to me which is pretty noice, I like discovering new artists. Some songs are a bit more chill than the other songs I listen to but they're still pretty alright. I'd also check the game out if you like intense 1v1 duels where in the end of dagger chucking, rapier lunging, and dive kicking, you get eaten by a giant worm.
Okaaayyy, maybe that sounds weird but yeah, Nidhogg 2 is coolio. While I've never played the game, I've at least played the first Nidhogg game with Note and we both had a lot of fun with that, so yeah.

Stuff I found - Squarepusher
Posted 8 years agoHave y'all heard about Squarepusher? I was browsing around iTunes and saw some coolio-looking album art for Squarepusher's album, Numbers Lucent so I decided to give some of the songs a listen. I know, judging a book by its cover is not good at times but when I heard Zounds Perspex... wow.
That part especially made me love the song at my first hearing. It's just so.. odd, I guess. And odd is pretty coolio.
album
But then there was Paradise Garage.
Oh man, Paradise Garage. This one's my favorite out of all the songs in the album. Just the beginning alone sounds awesome, then more stuff gets layered on top of each other to create a sweet song. There's also more than just the songs in Numbers Lucent too. Out of boredom I decided to check some of Squarepushers' other songs. I'm glad I did.
(I think this one's a bit explicit. "I'm gonna f*ck you with my red hot car" or something. Heck, he could be saying c*ck too. I dunno. It's still hecking great though.)
I just really like Squarepusher's style, especially his drum parts, he hecking nails those. And all of this just from being curious of some album art. Soooo, what did we learn today? Judge an album/artist by their album art? Hell yeah...wait, um...hell maybe?

I'm back, I guess.. [Update]
Posted 8 years agoWow.. I-I coulda sworn I was listening to some sweet tunes when all of a sudden, I just blacked out. I didn't even need to recharge or anything, I just... blacked out.
Geez, I'm.. I'm sorry for being inactive for a bit, I guess, glad Note found me when I blacked out, even if was what, a year late? Hm. Anywayyyy, I'm back, I guess.. I bet Note'll be more active than me and he's a lazy bum, but I dunno, we'll see.
Also, "Musical Monday" has a nice ring to it but I'll instead share coolio music whenever I feel like it. Sounds silly, but I'd get a little stressed to try and find something to share each Monday and even remembering to do the thing weekly was a bit bleh (that wasn't what made me black out though, it's.. complicated. I feel like Note went through the same thing though so yeah, we're both a bit strange). Other than that, nothing else has really changed sooooooo yeah.
Just lemme, uhhhhh, slip a mixtape in your hands. Now you'll have two! ..As soon as the journal ends! ...Starting...

Musical Monday #5 + Updates
Posted 9 years agoHey.
Disappeared for a bit.
No Musical Monday for about 2 months.
Ouch.
I think can make up for it.
Maybe.
I saw Note play yet another game but once I heard just two songs from Flywrench, I couldn't wait to make this journal. The songs have these strange vibes to them, which I really enjoy. OwO Spazzkid - Just For Tonight is my favorite but as I said, I only heard a few of them. I think I'll join Note in getting surprised with each new song Flywrench dishes out for each new planet he unlocks (no offence, but that might take a while since he kinda sucks~).
Hm. That's still not enough.
I tried out Lumines a while ago and I just love it. Long story short, it's a puzzle game which has some really good music to it and I thought I'd just share a few of my favorites.
Oh, and before you ask, Lumines Electronic Symphony has the best soundtrack.
Whew.. So much music floating around, but that's a good thing.. right? .w.
Yeah, I don't really blame anyone for thinking this account was dead or something. Thanks to all who are still sticking around. It's been forever since I fiddled around with Rytmik, so I may not make another submission for a while, I dunno. Anyways, happy Musical Monday, everyone! ^w^
It's like 2 in the morning for me, planedragons never rest! Heh.

Musical Monday #4
Posted 9 years agoHello guys~ Shockwave here with Musical Monday #4! Today's picks are just a few songs I've stumbled upon (and loved)~
CHICAGO¤lollie - A Message From Our Sponsors (Mayhem RMX) (This one's really upbeat.. And funky.. ^w^)
Naruto - Artificial intelligence bomb (A beautiful chiptune song... And no, I don't think it's related to the anime Naruto.)
verZion - Silo7 (This one's actually pretty unique.. Starts off pretty slow, but it gradually gets better later on~ OwO)
..I think that's it for tod- Oh wait, I forgot! I found a really great song a while ago, but I can't think of the name... Hmmm...
Still thinking... ;w;
Aha! I got it!
Darude - Sandstorm (You guys saw this coming, huh? >w< I kinda feel bad for the people who ask for song names in the comments and are met with the reply: "darude sandstorm," but hey, at least they're being linked to a cool song, right?)
...Yeah, this is my (late) April Fool's prank. Note already had his fun by changing all of my songs on my iPod to Darude - Sandstorm, which I was okay with for a while, but too much of a good thing isn't a good thing. ...And by that, I mean just listening to a song over and over again. All music's great, just- ..Uh..
I'm overthinking this. That nonsense aside, I wish you all an amazing Musical Monday~!

Musical Monday #3
Posted 9 years agoAlrighty then.. I think I have something that should make up for not remembering the past couple of Musical Mondays.. >w< Today's picks are from a(nother) game called Crypt of the Necrodancer, an awesome mix between roguelikes and rhythm (two things my buddy Note adores). Of course, if you're going to have a game based on music, you might as well have good music, and Crypt of the Necrodancer's music isn't good.
It's epic~ ..Did I mention that every song in the game has a remix by FamilyJules7x and A_Rival? OwO
..Really though, if you've never heard of the game before, I highly recommend it and its soundtrack... Anyways, as for updates, I know I've been pretty idle for a while, and I'm afraid it's not really going to get any better. I'm still creating music though, so there's that~ ..Not much else to say except happy Musical Monday! ^w^

Musical Monday #2
Posted 9 years agoHeh.. C-can we pretend that I didn't miss last week's Musical Monday? >w< Anyways, today's picks are all from the game Soundodger+. a cool bullet hell game where bullets are timed to the music being played. I honestly love all of the songs in the game, but these are my favorites.
Distant Stars (by Sonic): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4kHSD4zyyw Starts slow, gets crazy later on.. ^w^
I do, What I Want (by Mike Forst): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-2jeiRSkcI Dubstep at its finest!
MIDI Murder Box (by Louis Gorenfeld): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Sl__j9tPto Very upbeat~
Ye Olde Future (by Bill Kiley): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK0Ftebhl4Q ..I dunno how to explain this one, actually.. It's really epic though..
That's it for today.. Happy Musical Monday! (..And happy leap day.. Hm. Really odd, if you ask me, but I'm a plane+dragon hybrid, I shouldn't be talking.. :F)

Musical Monday #1
Posted 9 years agoHeh, I wish I had posted this sooner, but I guess late is better than never.. >w< Anyways, today's selection of music has been brought to Musical Monday by "KV" and here's his picks, and I quote:
"Milky Ways (Pretty cool chip tune music): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_5w8SJ3yVsc
Final Battle (sounds like something you'd see in an epic battle): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yanwIwtlzEI
Forsaken Neon (fast paced song of ivnuiwnijmfiimwjiniufniudnui <<dunno wtf that is): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tydgmMh9dkk
Infernoplex (sounds like something from a rival battle for some reason): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NJdYxqOOjjI"
Hopefully these songs should keep you energetic and lively for the rest of today, it certainly did for me~ OwO (If anyone else wants to suggest music, although I have some picks already, it's totally fine to throw a few at me..)

..Musical Monday?
Posted 9 years ago..Heh, I was actually thinking of starting a little series with my journal posts where I recommend things ranging from songs to entire soundtracks.. I'd post about stuff I find every Monday, but I don't wanna turn into a spammer.. OnO I'd just hate myself knowing that I'm clogging up your journal feeds or something.. (but aren't they already clogged anyways?) I dunno.
If you want me to try and start something like this, feel free to let me know... ^w^ I'll probably even limit myself to doing it every month if I have to, but that means recommending stuff like soundtracks instead of just one song.. >w<

Dev of Soundodger+ plays Note's level!
Posted 10 years agoHeh, if you didn't know, Soundodger+ is an awesome bullet hell game where the bullets are matched up with the music being played, which can result in some pretty awesome levels.. In fact, Note decided to create a level and send it to Bean (creator of Soundodger+) for his Soundodger Sunday streams, where he showcases levels that others made.

He played his level! :) I kinda missed the livestream but I'm happy for him!
Sadly, his last Soundodger Sunday was yesterday so he won't be accepting anymore levels, but the game's still worth a look if you like experiencing music in different ways (like Audiosurf). .w.
