Updating Gallery
Posted 5 years agoUpdating my FA gallery this morning. When I'm done it will be up to date with my DA and Derpi galleries. This account is always the last one to update when I post artwork. I'm going to try to better about that.

Requests Closed Next Year
Posted 7 years agoThis is mostly for my Deviant Art site, but I'm going to post it here too.
I'm making it official. As of January 1, 2019 I will no longer be taking requests.
As of this writing I have over 25 requests to do. That and I only have the time on the weekends to work on them. I work full time on the weekdays. And for the last two years I've been without a car, so that makes an 8 hour day technically into a 10 hour day. Even when I do work on a request it's slow going. Meanwhile the list keeps on growing. For every request I complete, two more take it's place. It's like slaying a hydra, and it would take just as long to finish it off. I've even thought of just deleting everything and deactivating my account. But I don't want to be that guy. No one likes that guy. So instead in 2019 I'm laying off the requests until the current list is finished. When I finish them off, maybe I'll open requests again. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. So if you have something you want drawn, you got till New Years Eve to get it in. Because come New Years Day, you'll have to look somewhere else to get it done.

Posted 9 years agoRamping up for a proper return to drawing and art in 2017. So far here it's been phone pics of pony sketches, but next year I'll be doing some proper drawings on 8x11 paper. And they will be scanned at 600dpi and colored in photoshop.
We Love Fine
Posted 12 years agoSo I entered so art into We Love Fine’s Poines Vs Villains Contest http://www.welovefine.com/contest/4.....design-contest Ended up creating two entries for the Pony side. Only one got through. First was Waterloo for the original 5-7-2013 deadline. It’s a Scootaloo/Seapony art that’s play on the ‘Bootaloo,’ meme. Because if Scootaloo was a seapony, she’d be called Waterloo. That one didn’t get in. I’ll go into those details when I post the final artwork. I would have left it at that, but then the deadline was changed to 5-21-2013. That allowed time to do a second piece. That second piece was going to be something with Nightmare Moon for the Villain contest. Something with NMM’s eyes superimposed over her cutie mark, like it was face paint or something. Swagbuckler Rainbow Dash is what the second entry became. I’ll go into more detail when I post the final artwork. That piece did get in. She-Ra is only one that I was a big fan of when I was a kid, but unless I’m drunk or buzzed I can’t enjoy it at all as an adult. It’s the voice acting that’s the deal breaker. It’s soooo bad. Still I’m glad I was a fan of her over He-Man. I feel for guys who were He-Man fans back in the day. They got the mortifying experience of realizing their childhood hero was just one big gay joke.

Let me tell you about a failed fandom I had. Sushi Pack was an animated E/I kids show by DIC/Cookie Jar Entertainment. It was part of CBS' KEWLopolis Saturday morning cartoons block through out its run from 2007 to 2009. And around that first season or so I took an interest in it. From the character design of the show, I was hooked. It was very nice stylized anime/cartoon artwork style. Then I watched an episode, AND RECOILED IN HORROR. The writing and plots were'nt much more than the usual kid show tropes with the usual kid show character reactions. What I found most groan worthy was the packaging of the moral lessons. E/I or not there was no subtly or complexity to that part of the plot line. I know it's meant for a very young audience, but it seemed dumbed down to me. That's a shame because it seems so much more could have been done with the material than just a two season run on CBS. While writing this entry I tried watching the first episode on YouTube, and even these years later there's nothing there to pull me in. Irken Antennae Designs on FA
Posted 15 years agoTime to share one of my most popular DA entries here on FA. Besides I need to update my gallery here, its been a while. The Irken Antennae Design series. Basically series of antennae designs sets for the Irkens. Irkens are the alien species from Invader Zim if you don’t know. So far I’ve a set of male designs, a set of female designs, and several sets of specialty designs. The main idea of the specialty series are to make antennae designs that are outside of the usual canon style designs. They’ve become a ‘hot item’ on my Deviant Art account. I have not posted any of them to my FA account yet, until now. I don’t mind people using them for their OC’s, but under two conditions. 1) Ask permission first. 2) When you post your OC Irken using it, give the antennae design credit where it is due.

Posted 15 years agoRonnie James Dio dead at 67. I'm not the biggest Dio fan, but when I heard that news over the radio it shocked me. Being a metal head though I have to pay some tribute to one an icon who has done much for heavy metal genre. He popularized the 'devil horns' hand gesture for one. Least I can do is mark his passing in the blogs I've have here and elsewhere.
Now he truly is a rainbow in the dark.

I've gotten around to drawing Jesk again. My OC Irken Elite was one of my first OC Irkens and her current sketch is almost done. Drawing her again has also given me a chance to tweak the design of the Elite armor as well. Might be a bit before posting it here though. I want to try giving it a descent background before photoshop coloring. This will also give me a chance to make a few updates to her back story as well.
Other than that I'm trying to go back though my series of random Irken doodles and doing proper sketches of them. I would like to put some of the underdeveloped and fanart-ish ones up for adoptions. Give something back to the Invader Zim DA community. More on that later though.

March is gonna be Good

NEW GORILLAZ!
The animated rock band is back with their third album; Plastic Beach. I am pretty excited about that. A new album coming out and with possibly a DVD included with the CD, even more so. Always been a fan of the Gorillaz, even back when it was just a odd rumor. Something that has already impressed about the new work is the plastic beach itself. It’s the bands new HQ. A Mod beach house on an island of floating plastic garbage. It looks better than it sounds and the fact it was done in miniature too got me extra geeked. Try out the online adventure game to get a better look of the inside of the place. The album drops on March 9th. The video for Stylo is already up. Featuring a muscle car chase in the desert, gunplay, and a famous camo its pretty badass. Needless to say it’s going to have an effect on the IZ fandom. Good and bad. The good would be bringing new fans to IZ, bringing back old fans, and a new lot of OC’s Irken and otherwise. The bad would fresh trolls, more art theft, and more Mary Sue characters as Irkens and otherwise.

A car show devoted to the “Oddball, Mundane and truly Awful of the automotive world.” Pintos, Pacers, Gremlins, rusty VW’s, front wheel French makes, British beaters, and more. All on March 7 at Infineon Raceway of Sonoma, CA. Might not be able to go overall with it being this weekend and kind of strapped for cash currently. The next one though is in June and that one all able to go to and enter my car in too. Wanted to enter my car for the March one but the Supra needs some long delayed TLC to freshen it up a bit. On and off vs Little by little
Posted 16 years agoI’m trying to change the way I draw my artwork. This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about my on and off drawing technique. When I’m working on a piece, say like one of my 9x12 drawings, I spend one day on the next day off. Draw some today, draw more a day after next day. However lately the off cycle has been getting longer than just a day. A day would turn into two days, then maybe 3 or 4 days, and then literally a week or so before I would go back to that drawing. This is the reason why it took a month and a half to complete the latest sketch of Android 259 (http://supra80.deviantart.com/art/A.....shed-137832296) This also might be the reason why its quality is a bit off as well, interruption of the creative process.
That way of doing things sucks in the long run. Sure I do a lot of doodles in between, but the 9x12s are where I want to do the high quality work. So instead of reverting back to the same routine for the lastest 9x12 I’m doing something different. My goal is to spend every single day working on it. Even if what I do with it is a little thing like drawing in the head or something. Hence my use of the phrase little by little. Hopefully with the use of this new technique I can produce drawings of higher quality and in greater quantity.

Scribbled them down on a piece of paper, typed them up in Word later that day, and that was it them…until now. Posted them today for the sake of LULZ! I’m finally drawing Jesk again. It’s about time for me to get back to doing one of my original Ocs. I’m also trying a new pattern of doing drawings as well. I’ll go into detail later, but hopefully it produces better results than my on and off way of doing things.

I Need to Draw More
Posted 16 years agoYeah title says it all. In my usual on and off rate it takes me a week to finish a drawing. I could easily do an entire piece in one to two days. I’ve have actually done that a couple of times. I think what keeps me from operating at that level is a lack of self-confidence in my drawing skill. If I’m not working on it continuously, there’s less chance of fucking it up right? Having such an attitude at the get go really takes the fun out of it. That and I’m spending to much time aimlessly browsing the internet. Well the unreliable DSL over here can help with that. As much as I enjoy the artwork of many of my fellow Irken artists very much, I don’t enjoy the hard self-criticism when I compare my art to theirs. All those works are so alive and fluid, while mine are not. Such action undermines my confidence as an artist even further. Even though I have garnered a small following on DA and some great complements from some of the artists I admire, I’m still the harshest critic of my work. Drawing more often though can change that. It would gave me the practice to improve my drawing skill and thus my confidence. Then maybe I can start doing more contests, art trades, and maybe even some commissions.
