Mostly wanted to get that old journal off of my front page, computer issue has long since resolved itself.
I have spent an interesting month, I have left the apartment maybe twice or three times for groceries and today I will leave for several hours to go down to MP. Does this bother me? No not at all, because I love being at home, all my stuff is here. I work here.
My friends seem to pity me though, oh, poor sushi-k, stuck up in the frozen north so far away, doesn't do anything, doesn't go anywhere
I like my winter hibernation though. In the summer, I crave companionship and activities, but in the winter I just want to hang out. Too cold to do anything, really.
Dave said that he'd transfer to Detroit for a year if I wanted, and live right smack downtown, probably near Wayne State where he used to live.
I said no. I don't think he was really serious anyway.
I'm sure this journal had a point in it somewhere, but I'm gonna go listen to Orgy and paint, or something...

Posted 17 years agoSo I finish up a commission, and I send the client a low-res preview of their pic for approval and payment. While waiting for a response I browse the interwebs looking for a suitable pose ref for another pic I'm working on and generally just wasting time. A note pops into my inbox. Yay! It's from the client! Before I open the note I open the PS file back up to save off some high-res pics to email.
PS is acting weird, and then my virus scanner pops up with "omg I found a virus should I baleet it?" I say "kay" and it says "coo but you need to restart" and I say "kay what the heck" so I restart it.
YAY MY COMPUTER IS DEAD NOW

We want to start a raffle where the proceeds will all go to Spectrafox and Butterscotch-- as you may already know, Spectra had a horrific car accident recently where she lost her right arm. It is unfortunate and she has been in the hospital recovering ever since, and we all know how expensive those bills will probably get.
Here is where you come in. All we are asking is that you, as an artist of your craft (sculptures, stories, traditional media, digital media, crafts like knitting/crocheting/sewing, etc) donate whatever you feel you would be willing to produce for the winners of the raffle. We would only ask you for one donated piece; if you felt like donating more, we would, of course, not turn you away! If you'd be interested, we would require you to let us know what you felt like offering up (full color piece, 2 character full color piece, 2 character inks, a knit scarf, a sculpted teapot, etc), and then would need your contact info, as the winner would receive your information so they could send you their descriptions. You would also receive the winner's information in case you would like to contact them first.
This is how it'll work. People will buy a ticket- $15.00- and will enter themselves into the raffle for a chance to win some art. The numbers will be put into a randomizer and two winners will be chosen- first and second prize. Depending on how many artist participants we have, the first winner will receive 75% of the proposed donation pieces and the second prize winner will receive the remaining 25%. Every time they buy a ticket, they will receive a unique number (a ticket number, if you will). They will receive notification of the number of tickets purchased and what number they received for each. We will require their contact information as part of the purchasing transaction to be able to keep in touch with them.
Upon the drawing of the numbers, the first place winner would receive a list of things they have received (the top 75% of the list, artists are added as they request to be on) and from whom; The second place winner would receive a list of the things they have received (the remaining 25% of the list). I left on Saturday AM and pretty much partied until I got back up to TC at 2am this morning.
I log in and I'm like wtf inbox!!!!!
And I feel really bad because I missed a lot of shouts that got pushed off the mainpage D: SORRY!!!

I don't draw "furries" as much as I draw.....HUMANS
I mean, as far as I understand it, this is a site for furries. I'm a fur, and I draw humans and furs. So that's cool, right?
I see a lot of drama, people bawwwwing because OMG there's a meat popsicle! Not a pink uni-fox-wolf-taur! OMG!
What's your view?

So I'm painting this series of goddesses and female monsters and stuff. Don't know whether you noticed or not...
And I need some inspiration! A fresh viewpoint! Ideas!
So here's where YOU come in!
PART ONE: Name a goddess or female monster or fairy of whatever. Provide info or linkage to info. Try to find something interesting. Something that says "Blukbluk - Martian goddess of fire" doesn't say much to me, but "Blukbluk, Martian goddess of fire - travels through the air in a carriage drawn by winged frogs. Has the legs of a goat" actually sounds pretty cool.
You can make multiple suggestions, I don't care, as long as you provide info. A one-word comment of "artemis" will be ignored.
BONUS - something with a celtic feel gets bonus points
PART THE SECONDE: Suggest a color or color scheme. You can be traditional or you can try to stump me. For example, "Blukbluk, Martian goddess of fire - red and orange"....or "Blukbluk, Martian goddess of fire, purple and green"
If someone comes up with a neat combination I may just paint it! Or not. Or maybe we can all just talk about the awesomeness that is Blukbluk.

I just got a call from a lady at a ferret shelter, she called the newspaper to place an ad for a found ferret, and the newspaper said "Well, there was an ad placed this morning for a lost ferret, maybe you should call!"

We're going to go pick him up as soon as Dave gets off work (a little less than an hour!)

Posted 17 years agoPlease send good thoughts my way as you go about your business - I've lost a pet who is very dear to me. It is the second pet this month. At this point of time he is lost, and while I'm not giving up hope, a part of me is sure that he is - er - not living.
Pray for Pucky's safe return home. I've put an ad in the paper and I was all over Traverse City yesterday (since 4am) looking for him. He was last seen Tuesday morning.

Furry Art Part Two
Posted 17 years agoWell, that was an interesting discussion we had in the last journal :P I never thought so many people even READ my journals, let alone would take the time to reply!
I want to thank everyone who sent good vibes my way, I really appreciate it, seriously! I had no idea that so many people liked my illustrations, even if they aren't always furry.
You know what I think would be neat? To illustrate the Ironclaw RPG sourcebooks. I might work on some of my own versions of Sanguine's sample characters :P
That's my dream - to be an illustrator and artist-for-hire...especially for children's books...it's a big dream, and hard to really be successful at it, but I will persevere! *strikes a pose*

That's my dream - to be an illustrator and artist-for-hire...especially for children's books...it's a big dream, and hard to really be successful at it, but I will persevere! *strikes a pose*

Wow, I really didn't expect anyone to read that journal, let alone comment. If I had known I might have elaborated on some things.
-I don't care if you draw yiff art. Really, I don't. I have even seen some that I liked. HOWEVER I don't like seeing galleries full of it. It makes me wonder if you're capable of drawing anything else XD
-The furry fandom is very art-oriented, yes. I just think it's strange that many furries are into such, er, "hardcore lovings". I mean, boy and girl, ok. Boy and boy, sure. Girl and girl, nice. But boy-boy-girl-raep-vore-watersport? Okaaaaay but why do you have 18 pics of this in yer gallery???
Great discussion though you guys. I enjoyed reading your comments even if I didn't reply. I rarely reply, I tend to make a fool out of myself -_-
I guess that when I decided to be a furry artist I somehow missed the memo that to be good and/or popular you must draw yiff art. Not erotica, or pinups, no no no! Not even "vanilla" hetero sex! Lots o'cock! Buttraep! Hyper! Herm! Cub! Vore! Scat! All in the same image, preferably!
At AC I was hanging out with some kid who asked to see my FA gallery, and he was super disappointed. "Where's the porn?" he asked.
I am really starting to disassociate myself with furs at this point.

My back hurts from sleeping on the floor curled up in the corner for a week. My feet hurt from wearing the ridiculously epic boots. My wallet hurts from all the ridiculous purchases I made. My stomach hurts from the epic food I ate. My brain hurts from the mind-twisting things I saw THAT CANNOT BE UNSEEN.
Therefore, it can only be concluded that AC was EPIC! I met so many AMAZING people (and a few who, while less than amazing, provided many fun stories for the ride home)
I need to do the online thing more. Apparently I am hilarious and I never knew this.
Oh yeah, and during AC I found out about this epic band that I never heard about, they're fucking dark, they're called, uh, KMFDM? You've probably never heard of them...
*roll eyes*

ALSO - I am moving to Traverse City next month...I already have an apartment lined up...with a balcony over Boardman Lake (you may commence seething in jealousy)
ALSO - Since I won't have a job anymore, I'll have time for more artsy pursuits...maybe I'll finish the slew of unfinished pin-up furs on my hard drive -_-;;
And maybe I'll start actually commenting and favoriting stuff!
