Every time the power bill comes I have a bit of a meltdown. I make just enough money to live, and when that power bill comes every other month, it raises my expenses higher than what I make.

Naturally in winter, your heat will go up. I've been roughing it out and not raising the temperature at all. But I got my power bill today, and it was over $600! I don't understand how it could possibly be so high. I don't turn any lights on unless absolutely needed.

I'm extra freaking out right now. The combination of my mortgage and my power bill costs more than what I make in a month. And on top of that I still have to pay my car loan AND insurance. House insurance, my cell phone, water bill this month. And that's just the bills. I still need to eat and feed the animals. I'm going to have to stop going to hockey because I can't afford gas.

I'm seriously starting to think I'm going to have to move back in with my parents. And the super awesome thing with that is I can't even afford to. I'd have to pay for the moving truck, gas to go across three provinces, pay to get my license changed again. Not to mention the time in between when I would be jobless

I'd like to try and re-establish the fursuit group that we were starting in Ontario. I may even look into getting a part time job revolving around suiting up, though that will have to wait until spring rolls around.

Life's been going good so far. I miss everyone in ontario. I really hope I can save some money to get to Furnal Equinox, but it's going to be tight.

Just bought a little Christmas tree, so I'm looking forward to decorating it.

We got the okay from Cobourg Waterfront Festival staff to suit up this weekend! As long as we don't ask for monies lol. Not sure what day we're going yet, but I'll be there in my partial. Going to have to ditch Swift's legs and go back to her pj pants, as well as her hyena tail instead of kangaroo tail because I want to go on some rides!

Anybody else interested in suiting up? it will be after 3pm, on Saturday maybe? Only for a couple hours, I have to work all those nights >.>

I purchased Cassie (with a possible name change coming) awhile back with the purpose of practicing refurbishing (and just making pieces in general). I haven't had much of a chance to work on it yet, but I am slowly trying to make some changes. I'll post some progress pictures when there actually are some, but that still won't be for awhile.

What I've done so far:

The handpaws were in good shape (and I'm not looking to do a lot of changes to this suit). So all I did for this was cut out the extra fur from the inside, and stitched over the old stitching with a thicker thread. With the extra stitching, these should last quite a long time =)

I love making feet paws, so I'm making a new set of those. They are foam over crocs right now. Still looking for white fur so I can fur them up. I've never used crocs before (I hate crocs >.>) but they were cheap, have holes which will help with ventilation, and are extremely light weight. Will have to see how they fair with fur on them.

The tail is perfect so there will be no changes there.

I was initially going to keep the face pretty well the same with some minor changes, but I'm also considering trying to do some foam work and give her a completely different expression. Not sure yet.. we'll see as time goes on =D

My aunt came to see me today to let me know that she had to take my nana to the hospital because she was coughing a lot and complaining that it was hard to breathe. I just heard now that she has congestive heart failure. They might be able to help her, but I don't have many details right now (like how serious it is).

We were never really close, and I didn't see her very often, but that doesn't change the fact that she is family and I love her. I feel even worse for my father. He found out while at work (I'm waiting for him to get home). He's always been a quiet man, and he'll probably say nothing about it to me, but the fact is that it's his mother and he's going to have feelings about it. I don't really know what to do. I've never been good in these situations.

On top of that, she has a puppy about 1 year old. I don't know what's going to happen with her if something goes wrong. I don't want her to have to go to a shelter, and I'm willing to help if I can. But reality is that I'm taking care of two big dogs (she's a small one, shitzu I believe) and three cats right now. I don't know if I can afford to take on another pet :(

As many as possible! I'd like to build up my character, so any of the improv type things would be awesome. Also love to watch dancing and masquerade. I'm hoping to enter the fursuit games this time around.. I even made a hyena tail for it so I don't trip over my kangaroo tail =P

What’s your goal for the con this year?

Do as much, see as much as possible. Get lots of pictures. Have fun. Work on my character acting and maybe help further my small business a bit while I'm at it.

I'm super excited for FE!!

I want to have my foam base, static jaw horse head furred by FE, I just don't have time to do it myself. I have all the materials for it. I don't have eyes, but do have buckram. I'm willing to drop it off to Toronto or east of there.

Can anyone do this for me?! (And of course you'd get paid for the work)

I'm going to be bringing 5" yellow stars with me to FE. They're normally $5 each, but for anyone at FE they will be $3 each or 2 for $5. They make great throwing stars!

I also make these in two bigger sizes (not sure on size exactly, but they are quite bigger). One goes for $20 (slightly smaller than a square couch pillow) and the other is $35 (no size reference yet, but it's big!). I'd probably do $15 and $30 for FE goers.

I'd like to see if there's any interest ahead of time, so I can make up enough. If not I'll probably only bring a handful of small stars and a couple mediums.

What is the name of your fursona?

Swift (aka Swift Hyenaroo)

• Where did the name of your Fursona come from?

I wanted to make my own hockey jersey and was trying to think up a good name for it. Ended up with Swift. Her original name (when she was just a random boy character) was Rhys (pronounced Reese). I didn't want to have to explain the pronunciation every time so I decided to go with Swift =P

• What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?

Swift is a hyena and kangaroo. I created her before knowing of the furry fandom, so there was no real animal I was aiming for, just whatever I felt like. As she developed, I always had her with giant ears and a grin. When I decided to create a suit of her, I finally gave her defined characteristics. Hyena was easy since she already had the mohawk and big grin, I just didn't want hyena ears or tail. I ended up going with a kangaroo as it was the closest animal with the features I wanted. Plus it means I can bounce around!

• What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc

She is blue and green, those were her original colours (I just like that combo). She has gray accentsto break it up. She has solid grey misty eyes (no white/black) and a gray nose. She has white hair to help break up all the dark colours (and it looks good in blacklight).

• What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?

Swift likes to laugh and bounce around. Because she's a little goofy, she also likes to dance cheesey to music. She tries to be scary but it just comes off as cute.

I'm usually a pretty reserved person, but if you get me in the right circumstances I can get pretty close to Swift's personality. She's definitely a part of me, and one I'd like to show more of but can't seem to do without that barrier.

• What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you in RL?

Not much.. She's only a partial so right now I wear my Flames jersey. This is probably the most significant since I bought it to go to a game when my family visited me in Calgary when I lived there. But the reason I wear it is that it's the only thing that fits and hides my hands XD

• What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?

Don't know if I'd say anything o.O Probably be an OMG moment.


• What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?

She'd throw her hands straight up, paws showing in an attempt to scare me.. And I'd be all :D

• How has your fursona changed over the years?

Well the biggest change was when I turned him into a her lol.. Rhys was a boy from a random story I was working on. I liked his character look the best when I decided to get a fursuit, so I made him a girl and changed her name. She's always been blue and green, but there was a time when I played with the amounts.

• How long have you had this fursona?

As an actual fursona... a little under a year.

• Would you like to be more like your fursona?

I'm pretty happy with how I am, but I could always use a little more goofy =3

After I "mascotted" at Fur the Cause, it put into perspective on how much I really loved to do it. The music was playing, and I was dancing in my cheesey style (because I don't dance... ever). But hey, cheesey is entertaining, so it worked out =3

I've decided I'd like to learn some actual dance moves.. and possibly a routine in the future. I'm going to start by watching lots of videos on YT and following along. There's also drop in beginner Zumba classes nearby, which I've been talking about doing for a long time. Now's a good time to start going. That will be more so for fitness, and maybe I can lose a few pounds in the meantime :/

I've never had any training (not even as a little girl ballerina lol) so it will be interesting to see how this works out.

I'm starting up an event, a mixture of a meet and a con on November 2 in Ajax ON. It's Fur the Cause, a bowling party in which all proceeds go to charity. This event's charity will be the Humane Society of Durham Region.

Fur the Cause will take place twice a year, in April and October (Nov for this one due to time restraints). As the event grows, we would like to add more, such as hotel space for more activities and extend it from one night to two or three days.

Swift Hyenaroo and Fur the Cause

I've been wanting to set up a bowling meet, so I'm curious if anyone would want to come out? It would most likely be in the afternoon in Cobourg. Hoping to do one around Halloween if I can generate interest fast enough.

I also thought maybe do something to raise money for a local charity.. Like a raffle or something.

If there is any interest let me know, I could possibly set it up closer to Toronto (like Whitby/Oshawa), but would prefer to keep it in Cobourg. And give me some ideas to make it an awesome time :D

I'd like to get a body suit done for Swift, but don't have anyone to help me with a DTD (and I don't really want to do one anyways). Does anybody on here do that or know someone who can?

Woohoo! I'm going to Furnal Equinox next year. Sad to say I won't be bunking with Kirin or Kalsis, but I did manage to get two friends to come along, who have never been to a con. And of course we'll meet up there. Hoping to get to talk to a lot more furs I didn't get a chance to at Condition.

I've booked the hotel room (was hoping to get a suite, but of course they're already gone). I haven't registered yet only because I'm fighting with whether to get the Attendee or Sponsor level. I want a T shirt, but don't really need the food the sponsor level offers. I might just go with the Sponsor level anyways, but it all depends on what my roomies are going to do too.

I like to make crafts, and I've had a website for it for awhile now. I haven't advertised it though because of time restraints and just a lack of a consistent product (something I won't get tired of making).

I finally have a product that I would like to offer, Bandanas. They are for pets (though I imagine I can make custom sizes for fursuits). They are made to slide over the collar, so they are safe for pets. Right now I only have a couple of patterns, but if there is interest I can search for more. They are also machine washable!

I will randomly be adding in some of my other projects for sale as well, but they will be just random items whenever I feel like making them.

I'm not very good when it comes to updating.. I'm usually more of a lurker. I have looked at/read just about everything everyone has posted, I'm just not one to reply back usually. I'm trying to get better at this, but I don't know how much it will change as I'm like this in "real life" too.

But anyways..

I finally finished the pony costume for my friend. I had so many apologies as it took me almost a year to finish (lots of life issues got in the way). It turned out pretty good for my first completed fullsuit, but at the same time I was rushed at the end so I know I could have made it much better. I'm kind of glad it's over, which I'm taking as a sign that I shouldn't make full fursuits again unless they're personal projects. I'll stick to making random pieces like "pants", feet etc.

I had also made this same friend a Wonderbolts hoodie. I don't watch MLP so I needed references, of which I had two to look at. I thought it was awesome when I was at Condition: Wasteland and during a panel I saw one of the hoodies I was referencing from! That was pretty cool. I really enjoyed making this project, and in the future I'd like to try making the entire hoodie as opposed to just adding pieces to a bought one. I have all the pieces to make a Swift hoodie, but never started it because I knew I needed to finish the fullsuit first.

I also have a wortortle hoodie I had to put aside. I needed to make sure I had enough white minky for the fullsuit first. Glad I did, as I ended up using the last of it. So now I have a wartortle hoodie with no tail until I can get more. Thinking that may be one of my later projects.

I'd like to make the body suit for Swift. I have the blue fur, but no green yet. It was expensive to get the blue, so this will be another project to take on much later than sooner.

Something that's not furry, but it's a neat little project so I'll add it in here as well,
I went antique shopping a couple weeks back and found a vintage chest in amazing condition (they didn't have the key for it, which was a little saddening, but that's okay). I plan to reinforce the bottom and inside, add some legs and a cushion (with storage underneath) to make a chair. I was inspired by my lack of good seating in my gaming room. Futons suck! This will make an awesome looking chair, with storage as well. This may just be what I work on next.

Personal Rhys Hoodie

Up till now I've been making random pieces: Handpaws, feetpaws, pants, ears etc. I am now ready to dive into full suit making. I'm still not 100% on making the head, so to start I've commissioned a foam head base from borderdog. From there I will fur, add eyes etc myself and hopefully learn to make my own in the near future. Mostly the reason I haven't started this before is that fur is really hard to find here, and the online stores I look into don't ship to Canada =/

I've finally found some good places to buy fur. I've bought mane hair off the internet, need to pay for my head base and then just wait for it all to arrive.

I am making my own version of a kirin and am excited to get started. I'm going out tomorrow to get the main fabric. So while I'm waiting for everything else to arrive, I can at least get started on the tail and bodysuit.
