Character Studies Well In Progress!
Posted 2 years agoHello Electronic Voidlings!
While life has had much hoover vacuum like suckage over time I have somehow been managing to find time to make some serious progress on a big project: ~ Scholar's Odyssey ~ . I've got the wider world and general plot lined up and ready to go. It's a wonderfully vibrant world with plenty of interesting characters, many species of whom the user base for this site should welcome with open arms.
This said, the biggest factor slowing my progress is that we have a whopping 13 Main Characters driving this narrative from 12 separate points of view. I know... I KNOW. I am clearly tormenting myself with this nonsense. I swear it's vitally important to the story and how you will experience it! I have all of you glorious little creatures in mind with all of this hard work. With how important these narrative focuses are I've been taking extra time to write Character Studies from the all the active points of view as prep work. All just to avoid screwing up the main project too much. I'm about halfway through now. Its taking ages to get them to sit and let me tell their stories. Bunch of fuss budgies they are. Worth it.
This announcement is to tell all y'all that with 6 of 12 Character Study shorts under my belt I am soon going to be polishing them up for release to all of you. One at a time. Before they officially go up for your entertainment I will release a story synopsis for ~ Scholar's Odyssey ~ as well.
Unfortunately? With how rough times have been I've learned that any illusions I have to keeping to the promise of deadlines will only end with me dissapointing myself. (Far more than any of you Voidlings out there, I desperately want to push for deadlines which I am crushed that I am incapable of achieving.) I cannot apologize for this enough, but I have learned my lesson. So I won't say when you'll get the new pieces of storycraft. I'll say that you WILL get them, and I that doubt it should take yet another 6 months for me to achieve that.
So.
Please.
Look forward to the mellifluous madness and mystery of the world within the gourd I am about to show you.
Do sleep soundly, with one eye open, as you dream of wild things in the darkness.
Be ready to wake up from The Void.
Squeak On,
Switchblade Mouse

Updates on Progress - Or Lack Thereof.
Posted 3 years agoHi There, all you gorgeous Electronic Voidlings!
The Switchblade Mouse has returned!
So, to get the nitty-gritty out of the way:
Due to housing and health issues my time has been eaten by the great and terrible Nothing, and Gmork is clearly on my ass like nothing else at the moment. That is to say that I only really found a place to land housing-wise in mid-June, and have no idea how long it will last me this time. Since then I've been working feverishly to get things set up for the future, and take care of all my health issues that have gone unattended to for years. Its been real, excessively so.
Needless to say my progress on my writing has suffered because of the nitty-gritty being full of grit and nits, which is a very unpleasant set of things to be full of.
This said, I've struggled so hard to get back to a singular story these last many years that it has now become emotionally draining to think about. Besides, every time I start on it something happens, and I'm beginning to think it's jinxed. So...
Until further notice the ~ Falling Up ~ series is on hold.
Since I had yet to get around to it via this newer account, most of you won't care all too much about that. To the few loyal Electronic Voidlings who followed from my older account? You have my apologies, and my assurances that the hold is not a forever thing unless I am hit by a bus this weekend. It could happen! Be careful!
The good news!!!!!
I've found another major project to work on ~ The Soul of a Nation: Scholar's Odyssesy ~ which is going to be fantastic, and has a lovely variety of species within it to boot. You'll get a synopsis drop once I have the first chapter all polished up.
In the Stories from Neem section we are working on ~ Pawns of Dragihnill ~, a detective anthology about crimes and sordid events in a world still approaching an industrial revolution era. Each tale is never told from the perspective of the main character and our dectective, in a manner inspired by the tv show Columbo. It's still in brainstorming stages as it isn't our usual genre. This is prescisely what makes it exciting!
In the Tales from the Land of Lhore section we are working on ~ The Corsair Prince ~, a classic high fantasy adventure on the high seas with murder, political skullduggery, ship battles, swords fights... Well. You get the idea. It's being picked over time, but is in the works already. Real nostalgic piece for me, and I hope y'all think so too.
In the Everyday Lives in Twin Trees section we are working on ~ Leave it on the Table!! ~, a nice slice-of-life story set in a world where the term 'magical realism' really is just every day life. Dungeons & Dragons is huge at the moment, as are other table-top games. This story is a look into the lives of a group who regularly meet at the library in Twin Trees for their own version of this game style. A nice parallel look at how your fantasy can meet and build on your reality.
We also have the comedy/ adventure ~ Just Another Princess in A Tower ~, the Redwall-Inspired gritty and political ~ Chu-ee-lia Revolution ~, the science-fantasy madness ~ Alana and the Blink of Time ~, the comic script ~ Calamity ~, the legal drama ~ Trials of la Llorona's Shadow ~, the horror ~ The Actor ~, and the children's story ~ Alex and the Magic Meadow ~ all sitting on the keyboard back-burner in concept alone.
Aside from that? We are beating our writers block by occasionally tickity-tacking away at fanfiction works. Alowing us to at least write something, anything at all, rather than freeze up entirely during a bout of the dreaded Brain Freeze Block (a much better name). We have one going based off, so far, Scooby-Doo, Harry Potter, My Little Pony, and the Pirates of the Carribean. None are finished, and we don't expect to. If we do finish any of them at all we will post them for you to laugh at me and my cracked mind. It'll be a fantastic moment for your own self-esteem if nothing else. See? Don't say we never got you anything! Lol!
Ta-dah! That mass of nonsense is all the news we have for you.
There's nothing else here at all.
All that text up there? It's a block of sheer crazy.
HasTag - Don't be weird like me! (And definetly work less than I do.)
You're all fantastic. Most amazing people ever.
Get outta here and have the best day of your life all you brilliant Electronic Voidlings!
With the Highest of Sincerity,
Switchblade Mouse
P.S.
Please excuse the typos and grammar errors. This is a mostly unedited post I made off the seat of my ass. I just wanted it posted at all. Please don't judge my professionalism as a writer based on this wet rag of a journal entry. TTFN

The Mouse Returns!
Posted 4 years agoHey, y'all!
Thanks to everyone who came here from my old page, and Hello to all you new electronic voidlings out there!
Sorry, about the lack of progress or updates so far. Honestly? Life is a total shit-show rn.
It's been almost impossible to find time to do anything but struggle to keep myself alive (not the plague), work on getting out to a better place than I'm at (still in progress), and collapse in front of a tv so I can maintain my sanity and reason for pushing myself to keep going (mental health is super important too).
Yeah.... That was dark-af. Too much Drang. All the Sturm. Ick.
I get it. All this dark reality stuff doesn't help you keep going either.
Let's not dwell on it!
If I might direct your attention to the Good News!!!
1) We finally updated our old profile on here for one last time. It has now been folded in a lovely ball of archival goodness and cringe from yesteryear me. Which means I can focus on here SO much better now! Yay!
2) I've found a lovely way of getting free stock images and using a collection of three (equally free) photo editing apps to make them somewhat passable as images for making my page nice, and my chapter headers much more eye-catching. They are nowhere near the professional quality of art you might generally get on this site, but I'm not a graphic designer. Right now they are just a lovely distraction from far too much blank space. Which is a wonderfully accomplished feeling. Tasty satisfaction. Yup.
3) I've found a much better structure for my story that has largely furry characters in it. It's going great in progress of outlining and whatnot. Just a few relatively major things to sort out before I can really dig into the new story format. It's progressing nicely! Yay!
4) My main project hit a wall when I slammed into the dreaded Writer's Block. I realized the problem was there was something I needed to change about the defining characteristic of the MC. I then moped and procrastinated because I realized that meant trashing several chapters and rewriting the remaining ones completely. I have now successfully sucked it up and gotten over myself! We are diving right back into that story and we will beat it into submission! Winner! Yasssss!!!! The crowd will go wild later, when you read it. Definitely.
5) Due to my brain running its cogs even when I can't sit and work on all these wonderful things? I have a whole list of great ideas for backstories, characters, side tales, world details, and several great things that look like independent stories altogether. So.... potential content far as the eye can see!!! (That would be the edge of the screen, just fyi.) Is that just so full of promise for wonderful stuff? Don't bother answering that one, because I say it is. I'm the writer. I would know. Yeah! Woo!
Lmao. Eh. I essentially have the mouse zoomies tonight. Which is weird, but at least my insomnia is helping me for once. We have great things planned and I'm totally hyped for all of it!!!!
I am still sorry about the delays and time-wasting my awful, shitty life is causing. If I could make things here more stable and just write every day? I would. That would be awesome. I swear I'm doing what I can to get things in progress asap. Life happens. It sucks. Then I create worlds here that are so much more than our sucky realities can ever give us.
That's my job! I give you a gate to leave this place for as long as you have the words to keep reading.
I promise I take the honor that is with constant respect and serious intent.
Keep it Squeaky, all you amazing little electronic voidlings out there!

Heads Up! Under Construction!
Posted 4 years agoOkay, so I'm perfectly happy with my angle for my profile here.
Unfortunately?
I may have seriously under-estimated how long it would take to set up this new place.
I DO have stories to upload here!
Its just a lot easier to set this place up if I get all the fiddly images posted before I put time into my main work being uploaded.
I know, I know.
How can the uploads be different, right?
Well, it's because stories need a different kind of summary lead-in than images do generally.
That and I'm definitely anxious I'll screw something up about my fresh start when I upload so I want to make sure I have plenty of time for care and details each time.
As well as an extra edit scan of the story, just in case, because it makes the anxiety beast calmer.
So! Tug up your suspender straps, clip on your hard hat, hold onto your butts...
Then, please, give me a little of your patience while I work on cobbling this mess into a decent shape.
Thanks for your time.
Squeak On, you glorious electronic voidlings.

Hey, there!
Posted 4 years agoHello, everyone!
I'm SwitchbladeMouse, and it's nice to meet'cha.
First thing's first? Please, if you've come here to accuse me of art theft from the profile of
KitsuneKunShinta then you should probably be warned that won't go far. That profile IS my profile. Its one I've had since I was a teenager, and since I'm much older with a very different angle for my future as a creator... Well, to sum it up, this new profile here is me giving myself a fresh start.
I am a writer by trade, and my dreams of finishing my major works are ones I would really like to invest time in here. As odd as it may seem to most, I tend to work better on my major projects if I can take time away from them to do side bits on occasion. So, you will all probably see a good bit of variety here as time ticks on. Of course the negative to that here is that we won't be very consistent with the timing of our uploads, or which project that is. Us writers are finicky and mysterious creatures, and I do apologize for the inconvenient wait times. Believe me, I'm more impatient with myself than anyone else will ever manage to be.
As such, NO I don't do commissioned stories, because I'm a cranky mouse with a pointy pen who hates being rushed for quality work. You will get the stories on here for **Absolutely FREE** as I write them, so have a little patience with me.
I hope you can all find something here you deem worth your time.
Best wishes to everyone here in their pursuits of dreams n such.
