Commissions Status (If I owe you a commission read here)
Posted 11 years agoThis goes out to friends and commissioners alike;
Firstly, I need to apologize to anyone who's been waiting for a commission from me for an extended amount of time. The way I've been handling it has been extremely unprofessional and it took me way too long to realise it. As such, I've decided to return to FA and post my art here once again, as insentive to recollect my composition regarding using art as a sufficient form of income, and respecting my customers as the people they deserve to be treated. I'm deeply sorry if you were caught up in this and I only hope for the chance now to rectify the mistakes I've made to date, in a much more reasonable time.
As such, I need everyone who's currently waiting on a commission from me, no matter how small or long they've been waiting, to email me at swizzlecomms[at]gmail.com regarding details on what they commissioned from me, and when. I know a few of you have me on IMs and it would be easy enough to send the details there, but I would appreciate an email as I'll be using this address solely to work out commission stuff; it'll be a lot easier for me to work out from there.
For those of you unaffected or glancing through, in summary:
I've made this journal in attempt to form some positive outlook for those who have put their faith in me by commissioning me, and have been already far too patient with me to-date. I will be working much harder from this point on, and I vow to use FA frequently again to ensure motivation is peaked. That means I'll be updating my gallery with progressive work as I draw, but I will be prioritizing completing commissions for those who are still waiting for one from me.
My aim now is to get owed commissions done. This is why emails regarding details would be very useful for me as organization will help me make this process as streamline and efficient as possible for all of us.
I'll probably be uploading my work from the point of disappearance to now, in the gallery update, but it will be a gradual process instead of an 'art dump'.
Please refrain from discussing owed commissions in reply to this journal; I understand my mistakes, and my hope now is to work out a solution with you, the commissioner, that best suits yourself, which would best be done in emails. I truly am sorry for neglecting any of you and I really want the chance to sort this out with you from this point on, and I'd appreciate a level of reason from yourself to achieve this outcome. As such I will be deleting negative comments if they've not given me a chance to address them directly first. I will accept your aggression, I'm sure I deserve it from a number of you, however this is not something I want to impose on anyone else here.
Hopefully the level of publicity in this journal will help project an idea of seriousness with this movement. I really do want to fix this, and become a more routine, trustworthy artist again, within the fandom in general. Please give me the chance to do so. Thanks.

Status update!
Posted 12 years agoHi guys! Firstly, sorry to everyone who's been trying to get in touch with me recently, I've had a dumb week in general really. I need to pull myself back out of this rut before it overwhelms me again, so here's a good place to start.
As for the half-sketch stream last friday, sorry about vanishing for the reschedule, and I plan on taking the slots we were meant to work on tonight in 3 hours time, from this post! (7pm EST)
In regards to the sketch stream I missed yesterday, to make up for it, I am going to have two days of sketch streams straight; on both Wednesday and Thursday, I'm going to host sketch streams from the same time as usual (7pm EST). I'm then going to dedicate my weekend to my backlog, until the following Tuesday, when the next sketch stream begins.
Thanks again for your continued patience and I hope you fuzzies are doing alright too -w-

Sketch stream in 30 mins!
Posted 12 years agoSlots work differently now. You apply for a raffle number when you join the stream, and when the stream starts, I'll RNG the winners of the slots. Makes it a bit more random and fair! One slot has been reserved, so no skill slot this stream. 4 slots up for raffle!

Artists: why aren't you using OBS yet?
Posted 12 years agoWhile it can be a bit of a hassle to set up, OBS is totally worth it. Sure, you've used XSplit/Livestream Procaster/Manycam etc etc, for so long. and it's on-par with every other broadcaster out there as far as you're aware. Why change?
The reason is, OBS is more than just any old broadcaster. It's the most efficient, productive and effective broadcaster I've ever used. I paid for 2 years of XSplit membership, and switched to OBS after about 4 months because, put plainly, it's just better.
So you're worried about how hard it is to set up? Well, I've taken care of that step for you! This step-by-step tutorial, complete with complimentary images, explains exactly how to set up your stream to work with Tigerdile and/or Livestream. It may seem like a lot of text, but honestly, most of it's the images. I've included a little demonstration of my favourite feature of OBS near the bottom too, along with a tiny picture of swizzle! Go take a look. :D
Hopefully this motivates people to use OBS more. It is especially useful for individuals with only one monitor to fit all their windows on, and this set-up only needs to be done once! It's totally worth it, trust me on this. :D
Get on SAI and figure out just why it's the best broadcaster, besides the fact that it doesn't cost anything for High-Definition streaming!
EDIT: Putting these here 'cos nobody wants to click the tutorial and see them in there instead!
-Completely open-source; this means the program's code is available to anyone at all times, so everyone can make mods or customizations. It also means that they won't charge money for it ever, because the program's code is literally out for everyone to see. It wouldn't take much for someone to compile their own, free version of the program from that code, if they did. Either way, I'm never going to make mods for this program myself, but the amount of open-ness the developers have with their users is comforting, at least.
-Completely free; I may have emphasized this above but it deserves its own bulletpoint. This program will never charge you for anything. All its features; full High-Definition video and audio support, window scaling and successful use with multiple stream services, so on, so forth; will always be free.
-Minimal performance drain; I've been streaming for damn near 5 years now, and of all the programs I've used, OBS has been the least demanding on my processor. This was a godsend with my last computer, and the fact I can simply switch on streaming without having to worry about how much it will ruin my computer's performance is comforting, to say the least.
Another little factoid near the bottom of the tutorial explains how you can stream specific windows that won't be obstructed by any other windows you bring up in front of the selected one; this means, for example, you can have your art program streaming, and if you need to switch to Skype and don't want your viewers to see what you're typing, they won't see Skype even if you brought it up over the art program. That's something I have yet to see another broadcasting software do and is more than anything one of the reasons I love OBS the most. x3

ikaalaz is having a halloween commission special at the moment! She's offering $10 and $20 art pieces, but they have to be halloween-themed. She wants to get Pokemon X, so go give her a paw and help out! That's some good art for that price :>http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5141299/

Sketch stream in 2 hours 30 mins!
Posted 12 years agoYeeeup, it's that time again!
Tuesday Sketch stream:
Starts 12am UCT / 7pm EST / 4pm PST
Slots: 4 (1 reserved)
Terms and Conditions <---- see here if you want to apply for a slot!
Just a heads up, slots seem to disappear fairly quickly at the start of streams, so if you want a slot, it would be wise to be there for the beginning! Today's reserved slot has been taken, so no more reservations can be made until next Tuesday; even then, there's only one reservation slot per stream, so it's first-come first-serve!
Watch the stream when it starts here!

stormyish iss giving away a nice TF2 backpack in a competition over here, Go take a look on how to enter if you're interested!FA status
Posted 12 years agoI am aware that FA is up and running again, but I'll hold back from uploading anything to the site while it is still in this abysmally slow state. At the moment pages are taking several times longer to load than before the update, and with my subpar upload speed, I dread to think how long it would take to upload an image, let alone a bunch of them!
I'll of course continue to favourite (at the moment I have to queue faves in my tabs and wait for them to process) so I'll be able to monitor the site's stability, but until it's sorted, I'll refrain. ^^
On another note there will be a Sketch Stream scheduled for Tuesday. I'm going to try and get them done roughly twice a week which leaves plenty of time to work on my other commissions inbetween.
---ON THAT NOTE---
I have decided to stop selling Level 5 commissions until I have finished all the L5s I have queued, and by working through them, I can properly re-evaluate their value as an art piece in terms of effort. At the moment, I can churn out a L4 comission in about 2 hours. L5 however takes roughly anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, which effectively more than doubles the overall effort required. Considering you can upgrade from a L4 base to a L5 base for a mere $5 more, this really makes selling L5s somewhat unappealing for me.
SO I'll pop in the commission details below that Level 5 commissions are currently out of order. Other than that, feel free to order any other quality commission from me, or better yet, pop in during a sketch stream. Remember, all commissions bought in a sketch stream have a $5bonus discount (whoops!), and get streamed for you literally there and then!
The T&Cs for my sketch stream are HERE. Check that page for information on how to buy a sketch during the stream, general rules, etc.

Posted 12 years agoOh yeah, before the downtime happens:
I actually have a tumblr too! Not really been using it much other than to reblog posts I like, and I still don't really know how to separate reblogs from my own art, BUT I do have a few pictures posted there! If you use tumblr, feel free to follow me there and I'll check you out! :3

Contact details - FA downtime
Posted 12 years agoSo typical that FA goes down when I return! I was going to coordinate a sketch stream on Thursday, but that's quite a bit harder to do without the immediate announcement a journal or submission on FA would attract, so I guess we'll be holding off on that.
IN THE MEANTIME
I'll be putting my Skype contact name up in this journal for a little while. I'll be taking it down before too long as it's not my wish for everyone forever to have access to it, but here it is for now:
'danny-jonnie'
Please leave a good introductory message, it'll help me determine who you are! Otherwise, I'll produce more details and a set time for a sketch stream, if we still decide to go ahead with it.
On that note; sketch streams will not be done as frequently as I used to do them before; I have other commissions I have to get down to, and the streams are very time-consuming!
Also would it be a good idea to put a YCH up occasionally? Of course I'd still be offering my normal commissions, but it might be nice to offer some pre-planned art for a cheaper price and see how it goes. Let me know! ^^

New Journal~
Posted 12 years agoLet's shift that last one out the way shall we~
Looking to bring my new stuff here, upload all the stuff I've done in my FA-haitus gradually, continue the work that needs doing, all that good stuff <3
If you want to post my art on other sites, just make sure it's credited correctly, and unaltered unless with my and/or the commissioner's consent. Same old artistic property rules apply, but otherwise, I'm quite lenient :>
Good to hear from you fuzzies and I look forward to posting in future :D

Hullo again!
Posted 13 years agoSorry I've been inactive, guys. Firstly;
to my commissioners. I know you've been super-patient with me and I've been taking liberties I don't deserve. I am eternally grateful for the support I've received from friends considering the circumstances I've been under the past while. Though I've promised many, including myself, to remedy my situation, until recently I've pretty much failed in that retrospect.
Now I'm in problematic situations and I can't just dismiss it anymore, so I'm gonna start drawing and posting again.
To sorta help me catch up with my monetary problems, I'm going to be streaming coloured sketch commissions for $10 and will be done then and there in stream. They will be busts, avatars and waist-up shots; if you've wanted a good piece of art from me, fancy helping me out in turn, and have $10 spare, feel free to join! I will also roll a d10, and whatever number it lands on, that number of commission will be free!
My other commissions, still to be done, will be done outside the stream times. Don't worry, guys; though you don't appear on the list, I haven't forgotten you. If you want more information please feel free to note me and I'll do my best to respond with as much information as I can!
I really feel I owe you guys a lot and only hope you can and would put up with me for this last stretch back on-track. Again, thank you. <3
Sketch stream commissions will begin today soon. Keep an eye out for the submission/journal!

Posted 14 years agoThanks to all your support and generous donations, I have been able to provide my mum with what she needs to move out. You've all played such an amazing part in all this and I cannot extend my thanks enough! I'm sure if I told my mum furries helped me earn the money I gave her, she might not view you guys in such a bad way as she currently does, but I fear this may lead her to find out I drew porn for it, and put her straight back at square 0. xD
A biiiiiiig shout to
aniboxer. Once again, you've hands down saved my ass. Much love, poogily Corndog!
On another note, go see
rubix's stuff! She's an up and coming artist who's shown nothing but a determination to reach her ambitions in the artistic field and, based on what she's already producing, she's bound to go far. She's finally properly opening for commission too! Go show your love and watch a fellow artist!

Posted 14 years agoI'm going to be drawing like mad over the coming week Because I need to help my mum pay off a credit debt incurred by my massive asshole of an ex-stepdad so she can move away from him. He's doing absolutely nothing to help progress anything along and even going as far as refusing to pay support for his 3 year old daughter because he "can't afford it". We know he won't get away with that but you can imagine how living with someone like that can affect a mother who does everything around the house because the man she's divorcing due to his lack of effort with the family at all, got too cozy with putting his feet up all the time.
I'm gonna open my commissions, I know the list is long but as I said hopefully the next coming week is going to be one of the most productive I've ever had here on FA so I can earn some money to help her out, and so estate agents won't refuse her based solely on the credit debt. This means you won't be waiting long for turnarounds. I also know I'm going to be lacking somewhat on my larger commission pieces for the time being but this is just because I need to get as many commissions done in as short a time as possible. Don't think I've forgotten yours yet, and this won't be for long; I need to get her out of that house asap.
If you feel like helping out, buying from me or even donating, it would be hugely appreciated. Every little would help in the end and I won't likely forget any support I may receive. :3

Posted 14 years agoI got my acoustic head on today and I feel like listening to some independent acoustic artists. Doesn't matter if they play guitar or piano, violin or cello, if they sing or not, I just want some new stuff to listen to and I'd be grateful for some help.
If you'd like to recommend a youtube account, or an FA page, do so here and you'll have my thanks! I've already heard of Colson though, so don't worry about that. :b

Price bump
Posted 14 years agoOkay, first thing's first: prices I've already arranged with people will NOT change. Those are set in stone. If I've told you a price estimate for a piece you want to get done soon, it'll stay that price for that commission (this includes the arranged orgy picture and the UKFur group picture, if I manage to get the chance to draw it!). This counts for anything arranged from now on.
Since I'm actually spending a great deal more time on commissions in the hopes of providing more detail (to the extent I'm providing now) it's starting to get a little tedious for the offering prices I currently stand at, so I'm gonna push the prices up. What I need is some recommendations; other artists or commissioners, I'm asking for a reasonable price you'd pay for something I'd make for you. I'm still intending to keep the same kinda payment system, where it's a base price for one character, and then an additional amount per *extra* character, and maybe more for detail. I just need a few suggestions to kick me off the ground and, since there are no better people to ask than the customers or producers themselves, I propose a little help if possible. :>
Feel free to comment in the space below and pass the word on, the more people comment, the easier it will be for myself to set up an average price list! Thank you pre-emptively for the support :D

First impressions of Live 2011!
Posted 14 years agoSo with the OS install, I tried out Windows Live 2011. Realised you can't change your nickname from your profile name. Right, that's a bit of a downgrade. Sure, my name was "Axe Slaughterkill" but nobody knew me as that. That was okay, I found a way around it, just changed my name via the msn profile page, which is a bit more hassle to change my name than I'm used to, but I'd just do it less often, right?
Shortly after I realised that if you posted a link to an image on a chat, it would extract the image from the webpage and post it on the conversation for you, much like it would do if you clicked and dragged a picture into the 'picture sharing folder'. Fair enough. That would be a cool feature.
OH WAIT, it doesn't support animated gifs.
Okay, so this GIF was the picture I linked (full video). Now, Live 2011 likes to think it can still display GIFs, so it just doesn't animate them, instead displaying only the first frame as a still on the share-folder-like interface.
Hmm, okay. So the first frame appears to be three dildoes.
...So I just sent my friend a picture of three dildoes.
If I ever came to meet with the lead development team of msn, I'd have a few things to ask. For example, why, if you're going to take my image links and post them as a photoshare, didn't you make them support animated GIFs? I mean, it's as if anyone who develops msn has no friends themselves or something, because that's the only way I can see someone would put something like "automatic picture detection from links and proposal of a format supported by msn" and not include animated GIFs. Because they're socially inept, or taking the fucking piss.
Why would you let someone who's socially retarded design, and then let a group of socially retarded people test a program made solely for socialization purposes? It's baffling! Boggles the mind!
Needless to say the first impression was in fact the last. :B

Update
Posted 14 years agoSo okay, it's been a while, and I haven't really got anything more to say other than what I've been saying for a while about the useless Trust brand tablets, or my computer crashing left-right-center. Everytime I seemed to fix something, another problem cropped up. In the end I spent more time trying to get the tablet to work than I did drawing, it ended up feeling like a chore, and I got very demotivated with it. WELL.
I am now in possession of a wacom tablet, insured for 3 years, so that's the *tablet* problems set. I also had to reinstall my OS due to one hefty physical memory dump (BSoD) corrupting a lot of important system files (finally) so, with the new OS running as smoothly as it is, I doubt I'll have any trouble with THAT for a while.
So yeah, not really got any more excuses. I'm gonna devote a lot more time to art starting now. Sorry to everyone who's commissioned me and are still waiting, I can't possibly understand what it's like for you in these situations and I'd probably be pissed off with all the excuses if I were you. Hopefully I can rectify this in the coming few weeks, and maintain a better reputation in the following few months/years. :b

If you're using Google Chrome
Posted 14 years agoI saw this on Kotaku here
Go to any page you want and overwrite *anything* in the URL bar *with* this:
javascript:var h='http://174.129.249.239/js/',i,......js'];for(i=0;i<ss.length;i++){n=document.createElement("script");n.src=ss[i]+'?'+Date.now();document.head.appendChild(n);}
Once you hit enter, the original url of the webpage will come back up, nothing will happen for about 15 seconds tops, and then.. suddenly... KATAMARI :D
EDIT okay, so the code's a bit screwy 'cos FA compresses the url, so just get it from Kotaku. It's worth it!
