"Normal" is one of those words i very rarely use, mainly because i don't think it exists, if you ask me "Normal" is the (false) idea that most people are somehow less .. weird, or have more mainstream tastes or views.
Of course not everyone considers that the definition of normal either, thats part of the problem, there are a number of possible definitions.

While i'm not a fan of the basic idea of normal in general, there are is a group of people out there that i really don't seem to understand. The ones who aspire for something called "The Norm" now, the exact definition of "the norm" changes at least slightly every decade or so, but in broad terms it encompases:

goto school, get an average job, get married, have kids, work for most of your life, retire, ...die..

While it seems that "the norm" is also slowly becoming broader in definition, there are quite a few people who still aspire to that definition even if they don't succeed in ever attaining it.

But, why? i mean, if thats really what you want, more power to you, but why do you want it?
You only live once, so why not aspire to change the world? aspire to leave your mark? ..aspire to make a big difference in history? what if you're the one that finally does that thing that no one else has done before? "The norm" seems rather like aspiring to mediocrity when you are able to do so much more.

As US economist John Kenneth Galbraith said "If all else fails, immortality can always be assured by spectacular error." ..failure is always an option and failure will sometimes happen, but its not an excuse not to give it your best shot and keep trying.

Keep aspiring for more, there are many ways to be great, one of those ways will work.
Thats my view on things anyway, for whatever its worth.

So about 2 weeks ago, i was talking with someone who, uses FA quite a bit ..but never posts anything anymore, no art, no journals, never leaves comments anywhere

ok, so he isn't the best artist, but he usually has stuff to say, yet he was asking me "why do you bother posting journals, no one will read them unless your popular"

well.. firstly if your goal is popularity, not posting ANYTHING is self defeating. and while i love to have people read my ramblings and even nicer if they comment, i would continue to post journals even if no one ever visited my page.

because the main point for me.. it just a little self-humour, i have no goal besides just typing out some thoughts now and then for fun. any visits or comments are just a very nice bonus, love getting them, but not required

Just decided to compile a brief history of Syder he had a bit of a slow start, but kinda snowballed after Version 5, I drew inspiration from a lot of things, mostly myself, but also movies and games, StarFox and Sonic .. And actually DragonBall Z, were early influences, although all those are mostly gone now.

He had his start as an one-off side character in a story I had wrote

V1- First appearance - June 5th 1999
V2- minor updates
V3- re-work of back story
V4- appearance updates
V5- complete overhaul, became anthropomorphic Tiger, became fursona -spring 2006
V6- minor appearance updates, last name of "Akaris" became official
V7- became a "Lyger" height and weight finalized, addition of cybernetic body parts
V8- minor body type update, additional cybernetics added
V9- removal of all cybernetics, better defined body type, colour and markings update -current version

V10- major update? (Possibly including eyes, hair, tail, cock?) -currently drafting

Oh hai

So.. My character "Syder" ... I Figured after 15 years it's time to post few details about him somewhere public. first things first.. He was created during the first week of June .. 15 years ago.. So it's kinda an anniversary!

Second, he's currently at Version 9, and appearance wise looks completely different from version 1 (btw I'm drafting ideas for Version 10 right now)

Third, he actually has an complex and extensive back story, and was NOT originally created to be my personal character, I wasn't even fully aware of the idea of a "fursona" when I first made him

He's called "Syder Akaris" ... And "Akaris" is his family name... But "Syder" is NOT his first name, it's a (VERY prevalent) nickname, his rarely used first name, is "Kydjin"

He is 251cm tall and 184kg (8 feet 3 inches tall, 405lb)

He was originally not a feline at all, but instead a entirely made-up mammal species

As a "Lyger" a Lynx-Tiger, he's most prominent features are that of a Canadian Lynx, with physical size, tail and a few stripes being the only major Tiger-like parts

I myself am bisexual ... Syder is actually straight .. But.. I routinely break that .. Because .. My character... my rules >:F

Ok... so there is alot of different currencies out there, but i was just thinking.

most of them (that i know of) are called ..what they are, USD is "Dollar", GBP is "Pound", Euro is ..Euro
you get the idea. I've never heard any of them referred to as anything but what they "are" (at least not regularly)

cept Canada... CAD (Canadian Dollar) is almost always referred to as "The Loonie" ..at least within the boarders
"Loonie" of course comes from the fact that the 1$ coin has a Loon on the reverse (with the Queen on the obverse)

and yes.. banks are on the odd occasion referred to as "Loonie Bins"

so .. 1$ coin is a "Loonie" .. then the 2$ coin is, of course, the "Toonie" (Two-nie) because we're creative like that...
and our bank notes are made of polymer ..not paper... and has been called "Monopoly Money" (by Americans)
because its colour coded .. 5$/10$ is blue, 20$ is green, 50$ is red, 100$ is brownish,

i knew that the US dollar was not colour coded.. but wasn't quite prepared for it when i travelled though the US, i didn't except it to make as big of a difference for me as it did, i wasn't able to quickly tell a 5$ from a 20$ by just a glance ..and it threw me off badly ... the USD is also a bit smaller..and feels ..... older? i guess

and for some reason none of the places i went too allowed me to use my Debt card chip .. or tap-pay .. had to actually swipe the card, that was kinda weird.

so, did i miss something? is there a currency you know of that has regularly used nickname like.. The Loonie?

so.. many years back (shut up.. I'm not that old) i was ..erm..not a .. legal .. sort of person...

never get greedy .. never brag, always have more than 1 end game plan .. means that few people knew however, and definitely no one in authority
..and we are talking about cyber ... illegalness here

happy to say, I quit that (by my own decision) and got a job at a security company ..helping people be safe..
in some cases to be safe from stuff i may have done before i switched sides .. so to speak, and although i no longer work security, i do still help people when i can to secure their computers/data. i think my karma has been doing very well since then..

with that in mind, ...damn a lot of people all over the place are wide open...including but certainly NOT limited to social media

first thing is first... that thing about anonymity on the internet? ... pure bullshit .. least 95% of the time it is, if someone really wants to find out everything about you (and i do mean everything), chances are good, it wouldn't take them all too long.

now.. its important to note, that typically your safe .. because out of all possible targets .. the chances of a bad guy targeting you at random.. are incredibly small, that being said.. it never hurts to get a few extra ideas...

here is a random example .. lets say that you never tell anyone where you are exactly ..but you may have mentioned a few times your approximate distance to 2 or more other specific points ... your about 3 hours from "point X" ..and 5 hours from "point Y" ..and maybe 4 hours from "point Z"
(or any such similar info)

.... Triangulation could then zero in on a approximate area that your likely to be in.. that plus any additional tid bit.. like .. first name.. job..something that can be ID'd from the background of a picture you took of your new car ..etc..and the list of possible people you could be gets trimmed down fast
... and the search can get more focused..and uncover more info... and so on

just an example as to what the possibilities are even if you give very little initial information, and the same or similar mind set and logic can be applied to a lot of online badness, ..and in many cases people have more detailed info publicly available than just distances to other places

most of the time you can safely hide in the crowd ..but it can be useful to know..that while most people may see your info and think "sounds like a nice guy, maybe ill try to befriend him" ... there are a few ..who see your info and think... "interesting target..."

I'm sure you can draw the proper conclusions from my example, and be mindful of what you share..and where you share it
not trying to make anyone paranoid ..just .. be mindful, that's all

imho the most puke inducing phrase humans have yet devised is "your a great guy/girl but..."
not so much because of what it means of course, but rather what it doesn't mean and what it can sometimes hide

i hate it for its often vagueness, and can often come across as condescending (unless its followed by the proper words and reasons)

i've heard it once too many maybe ... but it does come across as complete bullshit after the 3rd and 4th times
apparently the popular verdict is ima great guy ... its just that no one wants a great guy

im force to draw the conclusion ..that either no one wants a great guy... or .. just maybe ..
im actually just an asshole, and people dont want to say it.

oddly thats a self fulfilling prophecy with me, i love ..i ... NEED .. honest direct language and words
euphemisms only piss me off, which in turn, lead to me, indeed, being an asshole im sure

"great guy but..." most of the time is just something someone says to .. protect your feelings or such.
firstly id rather be the only one to decide if my feelings need protecting
and secondly .. I've decided they don't..

Now i think it is fair to mention that on the odd occasion this little phrase can be valid and can on the rare occasion be used truthfully and honestly be applied to a valid situation ...but its pretty fucking rare, too many people have used it incorrectly I'd say
