Struggling with Creative Confidence
Posted 9 months agoHi everyone who watches, I'll try to keep this short so as not to waste too much of your time.
Firstly I want to apologize for my lack of submissions, and that's kinda what this journal is about. As the title suggests I have been really wrestling with my ability to create art that I find satisfactory enough to post. A lot of times I will work on something and then the next day look back at it, and what seemed good the night before is suddenly sloppy and unpolished and full of mistakes. I am creating stuff often, but a lot of it I don't think is good enough to post here or on Bluesky.
To add to my problems, in March I got my drawing hand caught in an automatic door and it crushed my knuckle. At the time I didn't have the funds to afford the travel necessary to surgically repair it, and so it has healed imperfectly since then. Drawing for extended periods of time, as I used to, now causes arthritic pain, so I've been trying to find new ways to draw that don't hurt.
Thank you to all who are still here for your patience. Have any of you struggled with constant negative thoughts about your art? If so, what methods have you learned to overcome the doubt, and the feelings of being an impostor in the creative space?
