You've not gotten rid of me yet...
Posted 11 years agoSo, I survived the first (and most worrying) of the 4 major hurdles, and now, I might have a future. *Massive sigh of relief* Sorry, now you have to put up with my inane banter again (I'm hoping, now that I've got about twice as much blood available for my brain to use, I'll get better at being social). Normal, infrequent and annoying service will resume once my whole body stops hurting, and once I've gotten used to not dying.
...It's like I've actually acquired a superpower; I can make blood inside my own body! Imagine that!

Words.
Posted 11 years agoI'm so sorry I've not been active at all, I really just want to be online here all the time, but this bastard condition is like "nope, today you're gonna feel too awful to do anything but stare dumbly at the screen", but I want to let you all know what's going on.
The current plan is I'll receive a bone marrow transplant at the beginning of next month (September 3rd), and I'll be admitted to hospital Tuesday next week for "conditioning". It's hella dangerous and I'm quite terrified. You deserve the truth, there is a nonzero chance that I won't make it. But I'm optimistic, and if it goes really well I won't have to worry about the aplastic anemia for a number of years.
I won't be able to get online here while in hospital, but I might be able to get onto deviantArt, so I'll post any updates I can there.
Lastly, just thank you. Thank you for welcoming me into the community and putting up with my awkwardness. I've personally loved spending time with you all, and if (when!) I make it through this, I'll try my hardest to return your friendship.

Posted 11 years agoT'was a false alarm.
Now to gradually work through the stack of submissions, you've been warned...

M'back
Posted 12 years agoSo, I’m back from the first (*hopefully* last) lot of chemotherapy, and so far I’ve not caught fire or turned into a horse which is good, but I still feel pretty awful from the steroid treatment. Steroids. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
…They make me sleepy. I’m broken.
Anyhow, now for some science, if you want to stay appraised of my progress, please indicate so by replying with “Aye” or “Eye” or “I” or “AIEE!” or “(-1) ^ (1 / 2)” or http://www.furaffinity.net//view/511841/ or similar, else I’ll stop with my inane reports.
Standby while I try to get back into ~drawing~…

Bear with me folks...
Posted 12 years agoThis isn’t quite what I wanted to use the first journal for, but I feel I should let all of you who were kind enough to watch me know what’s going on.
T’other day I found myself in hospital with not very much blood in my body. The doctors have narrowed it down to aplastic anemia (my immune system seems to be attacking the bone marrow cells that produce blood (I’m borderline severe, yay.)), and I’m one of the ~50% of cases where they don’t know the cause. They can however treat me with ATG (turning my immune system off and seeing what happens) and that should start on Monday. Wish me luck... From then until who knows when, I’ll be even more quiet than usual (you probably won’t notice I’m gone, but I apologise in advance for any ignored comments etc) since I won’t have access to FA. Which is annoying since I was close to finishing and uploading quite a nice new drawing experiment…
So, I’m sorry to have to leave for a time, but I’ll try to get better soon and get back to you awesome folks!
See you hopefully when I’ve got more blood in my blood,
Sylvan
