Posted 7 years agoAHAHAHA! OMG! I can't believe they went there, even in a Deadpool movie!
Yeah, go see it.
Also, we got lucky and a friend scored a room at the main hotel for MFF. Apparently some of the rooms got locked up in the system and were opened a couple hours later and he managed to snag one. I'll be passing my DoubleTree room off to friends.

MFF 2018
Posted 7 years agoSo yeah... I was online with a group of people when the reservations opened for the main hotel. We all got in, grabbed a room, tried to go to the guest info screen and... the site crashed. It was up and down intermittently after that sometimes showing the rooms full, sometimes allowing people to start booking then crashing again. We even tried calling to reserve and one of us got a reservation started that way then the program crashed for the rep and we lost our reservation.
Long story short, We'll be at the DoubleTree this year. Also, if you haven't booked a room for MFF... start looking for people with open bed slots. ALL of the nearby hotels are full also.

Happy April 2nd
Posted 8 years agoI hope you all have had a happy April 2nd.
Yesterday was April 1st, which here in the USA is April Fools Day. It's the day you play a practical joke on your friends and loved ones. Traditionally it is either something ridiculous or you leave a clue. For Tip and I the joke was that we were breaking up, and the clue was that we posted music videos that were songs about being liars in the journals. We also waited until late in the day to give people a chance to realize it was April Fools Day
For those of you that got it, congratulations! Some of you even posted comments giving away the joke, which is part of the fun.
For those of you that didn't get it, we still love you guys! Honestly, I know some of you come from countries that don't celebrate April Fools, in which case I apologize for the confusion. For the rest of you, please keep an eye out for next year and see if you can catch us! (Heck, we might even give a prize next year)

Moving forward

Tiptoe and I decided to break it off. We just didn't have enough in common and we realized it wasn't going to work long term. No harsh words and we're still on good terms.
You'll still see us at AC, so please say hi to us when you see us there.

MFF and Work
Posted 9 years agoHeyo, Fuzzbutts!
This year at MFF I spent the entire con hanging out with people. We missed the handful of panels we were interested in and spent the time catching up with friends... and still ran out of time! That being said, we DID get a chance to go through the Alley and the Den and I picked up some XMass gifts and got Tip a piece of art from one of the first artists to ever draw him to help ease the pain of some of the originals he lost in the fire. Also, I just enjoyed having the abundance of ratty time.
Now for my work announcement... I got a promotion! I worked hard as a base-level employee making changes to the company and it got noticed. When a position opened up I was encouraged to apply for it and got fast-tracked into getting it. Now I make significantly more money and have the potential to make this my new career. If I can land the certification and stick with it here for two years I can go anywhere and make good money. =^.^=

Doings and happenings
Posted 9 years agoOookay, I need to get better at this. I get so apathetic when it comes to social media kinda things. Since the last time I've updated a few things have happened.
April Gingerman race - So yeah, went with our team to compete at Gingerman. Had a new teammate who did autocross and was super nice and a really good driver. Unfortunately the rest of our team was having a bad black flag weekend so we came in a lot lower place than we should have. Was still a fun time though. As usual I spotted for the team. They still aren't used to someone who can marathon spot so they're constantly asking me if I need to stop, which is nice. A friend of ours won our class, so that was nice. They've been working hard and impoving alot.
April AMG NNL - Model car competition. Tip and I worked on a club project car together (non-competing). The theme was Dukes of Hazard cars, so we did Roscoe's patrol car. Turned out really nice, and it was a lot of fun once I finally made Tip understand that I wanted to build it together, not just him helping me. I also entered my first build ever, a 1986 Buick Grand national. I got lots of praise for it being my first build, as well as some constructive criticism. I hope to improve with each build until I can make something comparable to what Tip builds.
May IML - The convention was fun... but overpacked with people and the shops and events were way too spread out. The hotel they picked or they layout they went with was just terrible. They really need to rethink that next year. We also normally patronize the chain vendor that shows up there, but we couldn't find him... if he was there. It was mostly something like... 30 harness vendors with a few others types scattered about. Got to hang out with Tibor and Stripey and met up with Martini and Aevin which is always fun.
June Anthrocon - We drove again. This time it was in a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. It's one of those sporty economy (oxy-moron, I know) coups that tries to drive for you. Tip had me drive about half the way this time and he had to show me how to use cruise control for the first time. I personally didn't care for it, but it got us there and back. The con itself was a blast. Got to room with Panzier and one of his friends so we were in good hands. Not a lot of panels we wanted to see again (the gaming panels seem to be taking over the cons) but we did go to a few. Rubarb and Kosmik were amazing, but woefully underattended. You people need to start showing up at their panels because those two are really talented. I did mess up and made us miss 2's show, but we caught Kage's story hour and I paid for us to go to the charity show with the two of them and guest star Alkali. It was fun, a bit awkward at the beginning because it's normally just 2 and Kage, but they got into a rhythm and it turned into a really good show. most of the rest of the time we shopped or hung out with a myriad of friends from around the country... and outside of it! Sadly, as usual we didn't have time for everyone and did a lot of hi-wave-bye's. Tip and I got another lovely piece of art with the two of us doing a movie night. It's so cute it makes my pancreas hurt XD
July Family visit - So not a week after I get back from AC my dad and sister come up from AZ to visit. My dad messed up the schedule so they came up and left earlier than expected, but we still had fun. We went to Summerfest and watched a girl absolutely kill Crazy Train. Did some shopping and my dad and sister got engraved silver name rings. I took them to some iconic Wisconsin restaurants and the Kistler Automotive Museum. Found out my sister likes cars because of that. Tip and my dad really got along well, largely because my dad is an old circle track racer so they had tons of stories to share. I loved to see that, plus it gave me time to get my sister to open up and talk to me which was nice. We closed out by my dad taking us to get a pedicure... my first one ever. I'm sure the technician just "loved" that I hadn't clipped my toenails and had been wearing boots all day because I wasn't expecting to do this. I'll say that it wasn't as relaxing for me as it seems to be for a lot of people. They did a good job, but it isn't something I'd do on a regular basis.
July Joliet race - Yes, that's right my summer has been INSANELY busy. We went to Joliet to race with a new team because our team couldn't make it and the team we were originally going with dropped the ball. Well, more one person took the car completely apart two weeks before the race and somehow expected that to work out. Anyways, we went with a two car team that was going for the IOE (basically an award for driving the shittiest car and finishing) and they were... interesting. One car was run by a hippie kinda guy who was fun, but completely out of his league. The other car was run by a bit of a tightwad that took a while to open up to us and charged Tip WAY too much money, but warmed up in the end and gave Tip extra track time. I only had to spot for Tip this race, which was good because our bud Erikku came down to see what Lemons was all about and Tip was far too busy trying to keep the cars on the track to entertain him much. Erikku and I got to hang out a bunch though which I really enjoyed. The big downside was it was super hot and muggy and the insects were trying to eat me alive. I've still got a couple of spots where they got me really good that are healing. The teams we were on didn't win anything, but they asked us to come back and race with them again and one of our buds, Apocalypse Racing won class B which is awesome. They're all a bunch of Aussies and Kiwis that are really friendly and usually spend at least half the race helping other teams fix their cars. They really deserved the win.
July GTR NNL - That's right, still going. Went to the big Illinois model competition. Didn't get a chance to build anything new, so I brought the Roscoe car and my Grand National. Again, lots of praise for the Grand National being my first build. Actually got startled at the end because they mistakenly called out my name for a trophy. I knew damn well that was wrong though, so I made them figure out whose model it was for and give the trophy to them. That made everyone a bit leery though. If they messed up that one...? I think you get the idea. Can't blame them too much though as the person who normally runs the event moved to Texas, so they were scrambling to figure it out. Here's hoping for a smoother event next year.
August County Fair - That's right, I'm as busy as I say I am. We went to the county fair because I hadn't been yet. It was huge, packed and... somewhat boring. I've been to several county fairs and they were all carnival games and rides and ethnic food vendors. The Milwaukee one was... lots of junk food, lots of knick-knack shopping and lots of animals in tiny pens. Apparently they used to have the games and rides but... I don't know. Maybe the county isn't willing to get the insurance for those? Anyways, we booked it earlier than expected and went to see Suicide Squad instead. I liked it but... they definitely could have done better. They never should have let a trailer company mess with the full movie to make it more campy like the trailer. There was a lot of story and good emotional moments that got cut because they wanted to get the feeling of the trailer. If the trailer had come out in the middle of shooting and they had done some rewrites and reshoots, maybe. Instead they tried to take a finished movie and make it something it wasn't and did it a complete disservice. I really hope they do a director's cut that does the original version.
Well, that's all for now. If I missed something or didn't mention you I'm sorry, but it's been a hell of a year so far. And don't worry, I've got a lot more to do this year yet. I'll try to post more often, but no guarantees. =^.^=

Holidays are OVER *thud*
Posted 9 years agoSo yeah, between all the holiday travel and cons and races and birthdays that happen all at the end of the year plus year end at work (accounting) I've been busy and stressed. I've also been trying to help my mate
tiptoe through his problems with dieting which has caused its own bit of stress and tension. I love you ratty, but boy can you get stubborn sometimes XD. Its been tough but the holidays at least are over for a while. I do have a race to prep for in April, but that should be a relatively easy one to knock out.
I'm way behind on uploading my photos and commissions so I'm going to go through and upload one convention at a time then start putting up all the commissions and gifts I've gotten. I also need to go on all my friends pages and catch up with what they've been up to. I haven't gotten around to journals in months
I also recently finished my first model car which I'll be showing off at the club meeting this Friday. I did a black Buick Grand National and I'll be posting a photo of it at some point as well.
Sorry I've been out of touch. I'm going to try to catch up soon.
