Drachtoberfest: The Return (more beer dragons!)
Posted a year agoHoly wow y'all.
So, six years ago I did a whole Drachtoberfest thing, with ten different beer-themed dragons. (Well, eight beer dragons, and mead, and a lambic, but anyway..)
Since then I've produced many other pin designs and learned how to do many different cool things to create interesting, dynamic designs. I also have been very fortunate to do a project with Iggi (Iggi ink/ Iggi Eastwind / Alstro Arts), who is not only a wonderful human being but an amazing artist. (Note to self, review hotlink/icon commands.)
That brings me to now, where I'm hosting the lastest iteration of the Drachtoberfest line!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/studiobliz/drachtoberfest3/
I've five new brews, plus the return of Mead, the most popular of designs from series one. (Followed closely by Porter, Stout, then Pilsner, and Eisbok.) As part of the new line there's a second familiar face, Sake! Who appeared as a sticker design only before now. I've taken what I learned to make more bombastic designs with all sorts of neat options like clear beer glass windows and layered metal effects.
As of now we're halfway to stretchgoal 1: Dunkel, Hefeweizen, and mini pin Dragon Mug. As with the previous campaign I will also offer the original illustrations as rewards as goals close in, with other special limited options should the second stretch goal unlock.
I guess I could also do a life update journal, but maybe later? My life much less exciting than my art. XD

August Conventions!
Posted 7 years agoI'll be in the Dealer's Den at Furrydelphia this weekend (8/10-8/12) in space #14, along the back wall.
I'll be offering assorted commissions in pencil or watercolor, trying out my new palette with color pans instead of tubes. Should be interesting, and uh.. maybe a little nerve wracking. (New thing, after all!)
I'll also have all sorts of goodies and am likely to have some kind of special on Friday to jumpstart the event.
Also, I'm excited to meet the Boozy Badger; have only had drive-by encounters so far.
Two weeks from now I'll be at FA:United (8/24-8/26, where I'm super excited to meet LikeShine!
I'll again be in the Dealer's Den in space #5 on the island, diagonal from the Charity table. I'll be staring at them all weekend so I'll probably do something special to encourage donations. I dunno; still thinking about it!
Anyway, please come by and say hi, ooh and ahh over all the beer dragons and other things, and let me gush about my work.

Kickstarter success!
Posted 7 years agoFully funded with wiggle room after all ten designs were unlocked! :D
I'll go thru all my Drachtoberfest entries and remove the link soonish.
Eventually the excess pins will arrive in my etsy.
But for now, I can breathe a bit, yay!
Tomorrow I'll be at Red Dragon Brewery in Fredericksburg, VA. If you're local, come join me for a celebratory glass and listen to me ramble.
Phew!

Drachtoberfest Kickstarter!
Posted 7 years agoFor the next thirty days I'm running a Kickstarter to fund the production of hard enamel pins based on my Drachtoberfest illustrations!
Here's the link! http://kck.st/2JWW276
Fully funded, all ten pins unlocked and 48hrs to go. :D
I'll get all the finished original illustrations uploaded here, and the pin designs too, for fun. Any help you can lend toward making my Kickstarter successful is appreciated.
And thank you!

So apparently I haven't made a journal since the last FA:U
Posted 9 years agoBut I will be at this one too. It's now a local con for me!
Here's the con survey thing.
Where are you staying?
About 15mins away, 10 if I take the toll road. :P
What day are you getting there?
For Dealer's Den set up Thurs evening, officially there some time before DD opening F-Su.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Yeah actually, I need to look over the schedule. There are a few I'm interested in.
Will you be suiting?
No, but I usually wear horns or tentacles at the table.
What is your gender?
I have a 45" bust that's pretty hard to hide.
How tall are you?
5'2," I look up to everyone. (Even
SpartaDog, because he's awesome.)
May I talk to you?
Yeah that's fine. Ask me about art stuffs!
Can I touch you?
Please refrain, thank you.
How can I find you?
I have a table in the Dealer's Den, so I'm pretty easy to find most of the day.
Can I buy you drinks?
Yes. All of them. <-- totally stole this answer
Can I give you stuff?
Maybe? It really depends on the stuff.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
I find this question odd given an earlier question of similar nature.
Do you have an artist table?
Yup! Table 21 between
Iggi and Fur the More. (Assuming I'm not at a panel.) I have lots of neat things and will be offering limited con sketch deals. (See me early!)
Will you be going to parties?
Maybe? It depends on my workload.
Will you be performing?
<_< I'm always on stage. >_>
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Come say hi? I try to keep alert at the table but sometimes I'm pretty focused on the paper.
Can I take your picture?
Ask first, thanks.

I have lots of new goodies this year and will probably be polling for ideas for new things.
Looking forward to the weekend of fun and craziness!

Still no free time, oy.
Posted 11 years agoSo if anyone's curious, since I got back from FA:U7 I had to dive right back into 10-12 hour days at work.
So... yeah no free time and most of that which I've had has been spent working on cards. Might get a breather next week. I hope.

Posted 11 years agoTomorrow I'll be on the road for this year's con.
My summer has been crazy busy so I've not gotten as much done as I'd like. Such as it is. I will have a handful of new things with me and a few pieces in the art show. I'm in the Dealer's Den again and will be offering some type of con sketches, too. Come by and say hi!

Cons cons... lack of cons.
Posted 11 years agoI'll be hitting the road in a few days to head to ConVergence for the 20th Anniversary of Gargoyles. Yay! Driving to Minnesota from Virginia? Yeah it's crazy. Thankfully I'm not going alone.
This year is apparently the year of rejection. So far the only con I've made it into as a full time dealer/in artist alley is FA:U. Not making it into any others is rough, especially since I'm on my own and have lost what little support I thought I'd have. Can you say kick in the gut? Better luck for elsewhere next year, I guess.
That said, I am really looking forward to FA:U again! Last year was amazing and this year's theme is just the best. Tho' my time is super limited because of summer job I will have a handful of new things available and will you know... do a better job of paying attention to the schedule so I can attend a panel or two.

Streaming address
Posted 11 years agoEspecially while my desktop is out of commission* I'm working on traditional stuff.
Right now my main focus is the latest work in progress in my gallery. (KWS wip) I plan on doing some sketches as well when I need a break from marker stuffs and whatnot.
A few other artist I know seem to like Tigerdile so I'm trying that out. I announce my streams on twitter and facebook, and once I get a banner made I'll announce them by submission as well. (note to self, install tablet on netbook as well.)
http://www.tigerdile.com/stream/bliz
(*severely limited for digital stuff while my desktop is down; most of my communication is going via tablet, and the netbook I'm on is by no means a power house.)

NekoCon 2013
Posted 12 years agoSo wow, I've been busy. And at times completely unmotivated despite the amount of stuff I need to get done. Like that FAU journal. Oy.
This upcoming weekend I'll be at Nekocon! I'll prints, buttons, magnets and if I have time, other goodies. Please come say hi! I'll have my own table this time, too.
I'll be staying with the terribly awesome
Zeke_Shadowfyre and
corvuspointer as well as a mystery roomie. Oooooooooooooooh.

FA United 6!
Posted 12 years agoHi all! I'm totally into crunch time getting ready for FA United. I'll be in the Dealers Room at a table with Corvus Pointer and staying in the con hotel with buddies. Please stop by our table and introduce yourself!
I'll have lots of different goodies for sale or browsing, and can also do badges, sketches and caricatures.
I've also made a Twitter account for FA: DevilR05 (it's the Copic red I most often use when coloring DR)
It'll work until/unless I figure out a better way to express 'Devil Red' as a Twitter name since DevilRed is taken. (Looks to be by a spammer, too. :/ )
Anyway, that's it for the moment!

Road trips and monster ladies, oh my
Posted 12 years agoBack from a road trip and wedding. No really, it was my first 'more than three hours' drive. For the most part, ended up not being a difficult as I expected. Pouring rain on the highway is heinous.
Looking forward to completing the 30 Day Monster Girl Challenge; 3 pieces to go. I dropped working on it when I realized how much I still needed to do before taking off for Tennessee. May is going to be a super busy month for me tho', so I will be working on them sparingly between other things. Despite not finishing that challenge on time I did make the April Drawing challenge, so yay there.
Oh, and I need to pick three other ladies for a marker project with them.
Heyyy look at that, we got some hail tonite.
Sorry if I've been ignoring anyone the past week and a half; turns out weddings are crazy and hectic if you're directly involved, even if you're not getting married.

Break Free; woot! derby shirt
Posted 12 years agoI entered this week's shirt.woot derby with Break Free, featuring wee dinos! It's my first time using halftones with anything in addition to my first shirt woot. (Kept meaning to enter, always forgot. :x )
You can find it here; I could use any support you can pass my way!
You can upvote my shirt by clicking on the blue ‘I’d buy that’ button (it does not obligate you to buy one), and passing the word along. You need a woot account that has purchased at least one thing to be eligible.

Mardi gras pics, etc
Posted 13 years agoI've only one spot left on my Mardi gras themed commissions:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9785807/
Haven't decided if I'll do a second round. The four on my plate now have all been sketched and I'll begin inking and flatting tomorrow. Making sure I get through them quickly because I have my own series to work on, too! Pretty excited to reveal these, come closer to the 12th. :]
Moved a few of my sketches to scraps, too.

A Happy New Year!
Posted 13 years agoHere's to working hard and hoping 2013 will be a good year.
Best to all!
To push out the old year I bought pretty much all the Copic ink refills I've been needing for a while. I will be offering a new round of art deals soon to help offset costs.
I'm almost always open for commissions anyway, feel free to send me a message or email if you're looking to have work done. :]

Moving in and such
Posted 13 years agoHihi all, I'm still getting used to the site and all. I've been fairly busy regularly with work and sifting thru all the messages on my deviantArt account because of the Daily Deviation I got. (Seriously, best day there, ever!)
Right now I'm trying to add something new for every few older pieces I upload.
Or maybe I'm just feeling guilty for finally uploading art and then crashing the site database! Heh.
I hope to open up a Halloween themed limited spot marker special in the next few weeks. October is one of my favorite months because I <3 cold weather and things tend to start cooling down here in the middle of the month or so. Plus you know... Pumpkin Spice lattes. Yum.
