As many of you may have been watching, Hurrican Isaac is apporaching the SE United States. As it stands, it is projected to reach Katrina's level, and maybe higher as the Gulf of Mexico is much warmer this time around. I am sheltering in place and bracing for its impact in Biloxi with my fellow airmen and friends. Basic Military Training. The words themselves meant little to me, but the idea of the experience behind them presented another challenge for me to test myself on. Rigor, stress, high demands...what more could a challenge offer? Eight and a half weeks flashed before my eyes faster than time in a warp, and now, close to a month post-graduation, here I am: a student of the Weather trade and an active duty member of the United States Air Force. I am excited, for there are many adventures yet to be had and many places to see as I continue this journey. I hope to place my best foot forward, for a stumble now would only hinder what I hope to accomplish.

Tomorrow I leave for Phoenix to begin my career in the United States Air Force. However, this is not goodbye for long, merely a delayed hello until when next I may chat. I wish you all the fondest Happy Christmas, and a wonderful start as the New Year approaches and will begin. I ask that you send your prayers/best wishes with me as I begin this chapter in my life, for I cannot falter now. As many of you have read, I am no longer returning to the University of Arizona due to my scholarship being revoked. In the absence of my education, I enlisted in the Air Force in order to utilize the G.I. bill and finish my schooling, as well as solidify a career in this failing economy. At this moment, however, it seems I find myself at yet another cliff with the same slogan as a banner of my bath: sink or swim. My dad, who was diagnosed as an epileptic, is in the ICU at UMC's Diamond Clinic and is having extreme cerebral complications. The neurologists, surgeons, and other specialists have yet to give me a steady and solid answer, but their main prognosis as of this moment is that it is gleomycosis: an extremely fatal, aggressive and elusive form of brain cancer that has a 100% death rate. Yet again, fate knocks upon my door and as of right now, I wish to slap her sideways and shoo her from my doormat most speedily. But, what am I to do? I've no more power than a child in a shooting range who is unarmed. A plan I do not have, but faith and hope I cling to.

Thanks to the Obama Administration's huge cut of education for major universities, including the University of Arizona, my full four-year scholarship has been indefinitely revoked. I filed an appeal to have it overturned, re-granted and every other thing I could do and it didn't and cannot happen, so...I'm done. My ONE CHANCE at college just got ripped out of my hands and even though I have 35 hard-earned credits, a 3.38 GPA, and I was going to be a science teacher...none of that mattered in the end.
