I don't really update FA all that much but I might as well stick it on here because there's a few people who follow me on FA who don't follow me elsewhere (See: Twitter)
On Friday just gone, I finally went to the doctor's about my Gender issues.
I'd been fighting with myself for the last 2-3 years over my identity, and moving from a mind numbing, 12 hours a day job to university with time to actually think kinda amplified it.
In order to not have my parents find out about it, I've moved my GP to my campus town, and they actually took me seriously and listened to me when I said I've had a rough last 5 years regarding my mental health.
my old doctor would just throw pills at me and expect it to fix itself. It wasn't until I had taken every different type of goddamn anti-depressant available at every possible strength that they sent me to therapy.
And that's where the gender thing happened. I was talking to a counsellor and, it just kinda slipped out. Surprise to myself really.
SO ANYWAY
So after talking about all those previous experiences and my current experiences with how I want to be and what I don't like, what I'd do, etc - the doctor said he'd refer me to a Gender Identity Clinic
I picked Leeds, with it being the closer one and having done a little research around the area and stuff.
The waitlists are insanely long (Looking at around 17 months before my first proper appointment) and could be 3-4 years before I potentially get a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria and allowed onto treatment
but honestly.
Just hearing "I'll refer you to Leeds then, I'll get the paperwork going" has brought so much relief.
even if I don't need surgeries, just getting gender-focused counselling and advice is going to help SO MUCH you can't believe.

Gender is weird.
I'm "settled" on Genderfluid/Non-Binary for now, for lack of a better word to how I feel.
I'm really slow at updating on here. But yes. Sorry for any confusion caused!
Use any pronouns you feel like, because chances are, you might be right. They/Them is they safest bet, but honestly, I'm good with any!

I GOT ACCEPTED INTO UNIVERSITY! Loans and course placement and accommodation are all sorted. I'm actually going!
It's weird. I was told so many times by my secondary school teachers and my college teachers (for the 6 months I went) that I absolutely had to do A-Levels to get in
(for the US folks, college in the UK is essentially the last 2 years of high school, so you'd essentially call me a high school dropout)
BUT HERE I AM
I didn't even need to do the Foundation entry course! Just straight in on the main 3 year course.
I mean I'm like 10 years late but HELL YEAH.
I've been stuck in my (somewhat) enjoyable job, but the company is rough, pay has been frozen for at least 10 years now, I've been living hand to mouth the entire duration and there's no sign of improvements. So I'm bailing. I'm going for Game Development, which has a HEAVY basis in software dev, so even if I can't get into the gaming industry, I can easily apply myself to standard software dev. Tack on my 10 years of IT Engineer/Trainer/Support/Sales.. Oh man, I'm so FUCKING PUMPED.

Posted 10 years agoIt might have only just begun here in the UK, but for me, it's all over!
Confuzzled and Download are over with, I'm back to working with no holidays left. It's been a crazy spring/summer, though. And I love events, but CFz and Download really, really take it out of me. I'm sat here now, got home from Download not 6-7 hours ago and just ready to pass the heck out. They're within about 2 weeks of each other, so I'm unpacking from CFZ and repacking for Download. It's intense!

My legs are dead for some reason. Arms kinda ache, but I was heavy lifting..
It's only day one!
We've got the Summer Sun Celebration tomorrow, and it's gonna be aaawesome! Sweet music, concert style setup. We blew a door off its hinges last year (Literally. There was a massive bang outside.. A door had fallen off in the middle of a set)
Saturday is where most of my work begins, though I am still helping set up and stuff!
Room Managering will be interesting, considering most of the work I've done at cons so far is just setting up and taking down, and patrol and help attendees.

Lurking mostly on WoW these days. That and the twitter. I've not blogged in a while but I'm still getting an almost reliable influx of pageviews a day. Only like 3-4, but it's at the point it's almost reliable! :D
