TMI TUESDAY GO!

Watch This Space (Stories & Requests coming soon)
General | Posted 12 years agoThose interested in macro stories (and non-macro, really), keep your eyes open. I should have at least one 6000-word short story, and maybe a few other surprises, posted on my account in the next week. I'm also planning on taking a couple of story requests in the next few days, in a lead up to me eventually beginning story commissions. I'll have some samples to post soon (there's a few already in my gallery, near the bottom, but I've got more coming).
I'm curious to see if there's any interest for this kind of thing out there. I would assume so, but FA is definitely more a visual art site than a story site. Still, if anyone thinks they'd be interested, leave a comment so I have an idea what I'm in for! (NOTE: this is not actually me taking any requests yet; I will post a separate journal later this week that will detail that process).
Thanks for reading!

How old were you when you:
Lost your virginity?
Depends on how EXACTLY you define this, but either 18 or 19.
Lost someone close to you?
Umm... My nana (mom's mom) died when I was about 7.
Consumed alcohol?
I think I had a sip or two of beer around age 14? Otherwise, 18
Received a kiss?
In a romantic way, 18.
Went to the hospital?
Well, I was BORN in a hospital, but if that doesn't count, I got some stitches in the ER when I was around 8. Never actually been admitted in an in-patient way or whatever to one.
Had a broken heart?
18
Lost a pet?
Out first dog Penny died when I was about 4 or 5
Went to a concert?
Apparently my parents went to a Petra (Christian rock group) concert while my mom was pregnant with me, but the first concert I remember was seeing Raffi at the Louisville Palace when I was 7 or 8.
Met someone famous?
I have a picture of me with Gordon from Sesame Street at the Louisville Zoo when I was 2. Does that count?
Got in a car wreck?
Earliest I remember was around 14 or 15, my mom got hit by some teens in a convertible on the way to the allergist. As far as when I was driving, when I was 16, I rear-ended a BMW (driven by the parents of a friend from school actually).
Dyed your hair?
15 or 16 I think.
Flew on an airplane?
I flew on a plane when I was 6 months old. First one I remember myself, though, I was 7 or 8.
Went to another state?
Well, my hometown (Louisville) is on the border of Kentucky and Indiana, so it was pretty trivial to cross state lines. But, besides that, it would be the same as above, six months old, we went to California.
Got a tattoo?
Never (besides temporary tattoos).
Had a piercing?
Never.
Smoked pot?
Never.
Smoked a cigarette?
Never.
Went to Disney Land or World?
Six months old for Disneyland, 2 years old for Disney World.
Broke a bone?
12 or 13 I fractured a bone in my foot playing basketball. That's about it as far as bone damage for me.
Had A Long term relationship?
Started at 19, ended at 27.
Passed out from drinking?
19
Were dumped?

Ask me anything! No matter how personal or how specific. I'll answer any questions posted here, as long as they're posted while it's Tuesday somewhere on the planet.
So ASK AWAY!!

A Friend in Need...
General | Posted 12 years agoMy good friend
Samuel_Maggis had a horrible stroke of luck yesterday. He woke up to his cat in agony, and long story short, a trip to the vet revealed a need for a fifteen hundred dollar surgery. As bills are tight enough already, his family is up against the wall, financially speaking.
He's posted a journal asking for donations here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4714793/
I know it's hard to ask, but if anyone can spare anything, even a dollar or two, that would be incredibly appreciated. If nothing else, please spread word around to others.
Thank you for reading.

Big Changes in Store
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I'm not sure quite how to say this, but I'm changing my primary fursona. I'm now Kwandry Baasher (or Kwan for short), a friendly, mischievous red panda who has powers to grow himself and others and is often very large.
It's a change that's been coming for a little while, and I think it's a good one. I've just been feeling a lot more comfortable, and having a lot more fun, as Kwan. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of other macros out there who aren't already busy or involved with others, and having the power to grow others makes it so that I can still enjoy the feeling of having someone tower over me from time to time.
I'm not giving up on Tahlyn altogether, and it'd be too much work to switch accounts and everything (plus I don't know who would follow me over). But I do want to change everything I can here to represent the switch. If people still call me Tahlyn, that's okay (probably unavoidable) but from here on out, unless otherwise noted, I'll be seeing and thinking of myself as Kwandry.
If anyone has any questions or comments or anything please let me know in the comments, or by noting me. I always love talking and chatting and responding and... EVERYthing! xD

Kindle was awesome enough to write a story for Paw Day last Monday and have various furs make cameos, including yours truly. Check it out: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10697258/ (gets a little NSFW). On Skype more now
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I've decided that I want to try to get on Skype more often now. My username there is Tahlynb. Add me if you'd like to talk!
Raffle? Well I've never done one before... What the hey.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo
vvfang is doing a raffle, and apparently just for entering you get a free pencil sketch. I've never done a raffle before, but I figured, what the hell, it's worth a shot.

Roommate
General | Posted 13 years agoAnyone in the Dallas area need a roommate?
Sooooooo
General | Posted 13 years agoI've pretty much decided I'm going to at least one day (Friday) of TFF (Texas Furry Fiesta). I can't really go on Saturday (I'm working most of the day) and I don't know what I'm working yet for Sunday (I suppose I could still ask for it off, but I asked for most of the previous sunday off, and that might look bad).
But, yeah, this will be my first furcon. :3
*just a little nervous*

I'm going to start writing again
General | Posted 13 years agoThere, I've said it on here so now I'm stuck with it, right? Besides, I've got this idea I've been knocking around. A BIG idea (as in, macro-themed). I kinda like it, so hopefully I can bang something out soon and post it here. I've probably said this before but this time I hope I stick with it.

Quick summary of what's been going on
General | Posted 14 years agoI know I've not written here in a really, really long time. I don't want to go into too much detail, but, if anyone cares, I'm gonna try to post what's going on here in bulletin form:
In my personal life:
-- I've gotten a new kitty! Her name is Kira, she's around four months old and she's so adorable and cute I can barely believe it. I'll be posting a picture or two (or twelve :P) in my gallery in just a bit if you wanna see.
-- I will be moving at the end of this month, from Orlando, Florida to Dallas, Texas. For those of you who don't know, I used to live in Dallas about seven years ago, so this is returning home, sort of.
In my furry world:
-- I want to start posting again some here. I don't know what it'll be (or if I'll even follow through), but watch out for anything.
-- I've met a new cool friend that I've been chatting with,
JamesFoxes. He's a fox from Denmark, and we share a lot of interest with each other. We met from him looking at my work on writing.com, and we're working on a macro-themed story there that I kind of like.
That's all I really need to talk about right now. More will come later... probably.

What's the best way...
General | Posted 14 years ago...to try to find out if someone you know is a furry? I mean, obviously asking them directly would probably be the quickest way, but maybe not the easiest or best.
I have a friend at work who is a self-described "animal lover", and she has commented on some of the pictures I have on my desktop wallpaper (specifically, this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6088027/ and this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6149511/). We've talked about our mutual affection for animals as a general idea, but I don't necessarily want to straight-out ask her if she is one. I don't have a problem with people at work knowing that I'm a furry (I've told someone before when it came up, though that person ended up leaving the company a few weeks later), but I don't want to just bring it up out of the blue.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I'S HAZ JOURNAL UPDATE?!?!
General | Posted 14 years agoYeah, so I just uploaded something new to FA for the first time in three months, and am writing a journal for the first time in a real long time as well. Sorry for the absence, and this will be a short post (I'm on lunch break at work), but I promise I'll try to start putting more stuff up here. I have a huge backload of photos, and some writing, that I want to put up when I get the chance. So look forward to that!!
Just a Quick Note
General | Posted 14 years agoCheck out my new Blog! I'll be updating it a lot more frequently (and a lot more personally) than I do with my FA Journal. And be sure to comment and let me know what you think! =^_^=

Roommate needed
General | Posted 14 years agoAnyone need a place to live in the Orlando/Winter Garden area? Our 3BR apartment has a room opening up. Rent would be $350/month. It's close to Disney and in a very nice neighborhood. Hit me up through a PM on here! =^_^=
The Last Lions
General | Posted 14 years agoI saw The Last Lions last night. For those of you who haven't heard of it (probably everybody if it's box office/marketing is any indication), it's a National Geographic Film about a lone lioness in Africa attempting to survive and raise her cubs without her mate, while a rival pride is trying to hunt her down. It truly was a gripping tale, one that held my attention from beginning to end, and the footage that was captured is unbelievable. There are some incredibly gruesome moments in the film (especially for one rated PG), and some scenes that ripped my heart out and left me bawling like a baby, and at the end, I felt like standing up and cheering. The narration by Jeremy Irons (you might know him as the voice of Scar from The Lion King) is truly excellent. There's probably a bit too much anthropomorphizing for a true-life nature flick (though for furries, is that really a bad thing?), but the story that is told is exciting and the way he tells it is both understated at some moments and conversely overwhelming at others. I would highly recommend seeing this picture to anyone who likes nature, felines, and/or survival and revenge stories. I'd give it four paw marks out of four!
A Macro Ferotter Appears!
General | Posted 14 years agoLast Thursday, I went over to UCF to order some Jerseys for my fraternity. We got one for each of the colonists, and then the mentors (of which I am one of three) all decided to get one as well. One catch was that I didn't have a nickname within the fraternity (the chapter I was in didn't do that) so one of the other mentors (
Kryos) came up with one on the spot for me: MACro. It has two meanings: the MAC part due to the fact that I work for Apple and am a huge MacHead, and then the entire word due to my interest in Macro Sizeplay. I thought it was a perfect fit.
Well, since then, I've become even more obsessed with Sizeplay, and have developed a new character that I'm now writing on and getting some sketches commissioned of. Dazral Rakana is a nineteen-year-old ferret otter who will be going through some ... transformations in the next little bit. I still haven't decided if I want to make a whole separate page for my Macro interests and character(s) or if I want to incorporate them all on here, but they'll be new stuff forthcoming shortly!
In other news, I'm going to start uploading more of my photography. You've already seen some uploaded today, and there's more in the pipeline. So far, it seems to have been a rousing success, as I have gained a handful of watchers and several dozen favorites out of them. To all who have commented, favorited, or watched me because of the photographs (or any other reason, really), thank you and I hope I can live up to any expectations you might have.
That's about it for right now. Hopefully, I'll be journaling a bit more often, as once a month doesn't seem very good. But who knows? Heehee. My life is uber-busy and I have plenty of stuff to do! As always, though, I'm open for anyone to message me and chat if I'm online, and I'll be more than happy to talk with you as much as possible! Bye!

Time to make the donuts.... I mean, write the journal
General | Posted 15 years agoWell it's been about a month since I last wrote in this thing, so I should go ahead and update... January has treated me pretty well. I've definitely been getting more interested in Basketball. I suppose I'll always have that in my blood, being from Kentucky and all (and any of you from another state like INDIANA or NORTH CAROLINA that says you're state is more basketball crazy, you're WRONG! ^__^). It's helped that the University of Louisville Cardinals have been having a pretty good year. Right now they're second in the Big East (the toughest conference in College Basketball, bar none) and have won three of their last four games in the last minute of the game (the most recent one, against Connecticut, in Double Overtime!). It's exhilarating and really reminds me of why I love basketball.
And that brings me to my sudden interest in the FBA (Furry Basketball Association). I was looking for some art to inspire the one of the storylines i'm writing, Never Be Alone, who's main character is a Ferret. I was looking through FA's galleries on ferret art, and came across the picture of Mark Ferramin from
JTigerclaw. For some reason it really struck a chord with me, and I started exploring the FBA from
BuckHopper 's page. I really liked what I saw and now it's become a major interest for me here on FA. I am hoping to start writing and getting involved more on that side too (not that I really need more on my plate in that regards, but I can't help what I get interested in, right?). So far, my favorite team would probably be the Alaska Arctics, the one that Mark Ferramin plays for. They're a young solid team that reminds me of a college team (or at least a Rick Pitino-coached college team) where the players aren't concerned with individual achievement but with team success. They're 18-18 now but seem to be on the upswing, so hopefully they'll be able to get some more Ws and overtake the Spokane Rapids in the Northwestern Division. Go Arctics!
Anywho, apart from my basketball interest, I've also been working on increasing the amount of time I spend writing. I'm mainly working on Never Be Alone, but also getting some ideas ready for the next chapter/episode/whatever of Assassin's Tale, which will be called "The Motive." Look for that in the next couple of weeks, along with the next few chapters of Never Be Alone.
That's it for now! I'll hope to be writing in my journal a little more as things get more interesting. As always, please message me or shout if you have anything you'd like to know!

What a month!
General | Posted 15 years agoWow, just wow!
Since the last time I wrote in this journal, I have had one great month! It started when I began to post on the FA forums, just for the hell of it. I met a few people who seemed pretty decent and was beginning to have fun. Then, I saw a post from another newbie (
Kenson). It seemed innocent enough, and he casually asked if I wanted to talk on Skype with him, so I said sure. Who knew that in the span of just a few weeks, I would have made a new best friend? Definitely not me! And since then, I've gotten to meet another one of his friends, and have had a whole lot of fun! I tell ya, I felt reasonably comfortable in my furriness before, but meeting (
Kenson) has opened me up to a whole new level! I'm thinking furry thought on a much more frequent basis, and I've even changed my login username at work to the name of my fursona! Honestly, I couldn't have imagined that this could change in just a few short weeks, but I am so happy it has!
And, on a side note, I've been inspired recently with a drive to write, so hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more submissions from me on this site in the weeks and months to come! I just gotta find time to sit down and organize my thoughts and let it come out. And, if you ever have any suggestions or comments, or criticisms of my work, please let me know! I'm always open-eared!
Gee, I'm just kinda giddy right now! I hope you're feeling good tooooooooooooooo, whoever you are!
- Tahlyn
PS - One thing that would make me feel even MORE giddy, FA, is for you to turn the FORUMS BACK ON! Please? Pretty please??

What am I here for?
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, considering I've been sulking about this site for a few months now, I might as well try to answer that question.
First and foremost, I consider myself a writer. I have other interests and abilities too, but creative writing is probably the one I've developed the most and the one I enjoy doing the most. I like to write about all sorts of things, both with furry themes as well as without. My writing tends to be either contemporary or sci-fi, but I have tried to broaden my scope in the recent past.
Some themes I like writing about are gay romance, relationships, and erotica, as well as macro/micro sizeplay. I tend to have a lot of ideas and start writing a scene/story, but my biggest problem is finishing what I started.
A new friend (
tesconwhitepaw) recently asked me how I started writing what I was writing, specifically a Fantastic Mr. Fox fic. My answer was, Fantastic Mr Fox is probably one of my favorite movies recently. I really like Wes Anderson films and i think he did a great job there, and something about the characters really hit home with me as being interesting and having a lot of potential, particularly the dynamic between Ash and Kristofferson. Not long after I saw it, I met another new friend (
kryos) who mentioned he was a "furry." I knew of that classification, so to speak, but a lot of what I knew was negative, from what people badmouthed on the Internet, so I sat down and had a chat with him about it, and I kinda realized I had those interests too. He asked me what some anthropomorphic characters I had been interested in before, and besides the FMF characters, the ones that came to my head were Hobbes from Calvin & Hobbes and Simba from The Lion King. That's when I started to develop my persona (or, if you want to call it, "Fursona") of a tiger, that eventually became Tahlyn Baasher. Now Tahlyn isn't necessarily a one-to-one copy of myself, but I like to think that my good qualities and my aspirations are all summarized in him. Read the character summary in my gallery if you'd like to know more about the character.
As for what I hope to eventually produce, I have a lot of fiction I've written that I'm still working on. There's four main stories I've been working on that center in the world of Baakharil. I hope to post some information about this world soon, if anyone wants to read it. I also have some ideas for just general fiction that's not related to this world, especially in the macro/micro field. I hope to publish some of that soon.
And for the question I posed at the beginning, "What am I here for?", I'm not really sure. Friendship, collaboration, ideas, a creative outlet-- those would all be true. Ultimately, I guess I'm here just to try to develop the furry side of my personality a little more, and hopefully to make some friends and have some fun in the process. If anyone wants to join me, there's always room for one more.
Thanks for reading,
Tahlyn.
