about 3 inches was cut off because it was utterly damaged, the main crop (~13 inches) is getting sent off to locks of love, and another 4 inches was trimmed in the ~styling~ of my hair.



we've had adventures, hair. started and almost ended college, there when i first made FA account and furst fursona, worked in first ever molecular bio lab, met and survived first anniversary with  airyu, got on national news, curled up my first ever taihat and outlived it to see taihat v2.0. Met oodles of DCers and Taverners and had countless awesome times with all.

- Game: Real time strategies. EVE-Online was up there until I couldn't afford it, then kung-fu chess (you move all your pieces at once without waiting!). real time shooters fall into this too since you have to plan and act :3

I'm more of a series guy; the ones that really stick out for me are Ruroni Kenshin, Digimon, and Outlaw Star, (animu nerd right). As far as books, Traitor by Matthew Stover cemented a lot of what I believe in in a very awesome storyline.

Other good series/movies that stick out were Reboot, samurai jack, Avatar, John Doe, MASH, Firefly, The Centurions, How to train thine Dwaggin, Chuck Norris Karate Commandos, Sucker Punch, Lion king 1, New Adventures of Johnny Quest, Independance Day, Tampopo, Spirited Away, Secret of Kells, Band of Brothers, Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai, Freakazoid, Batman Beyond, Good Eats, Swat Kats, Pirates of Dark Water, Scooby Doo, and Rio. ANd probably more that I can't remember right now. And maybe one that's there just to be silly.

- Subjects in school: I like them all ): But I guess I've picked biology because it's at that sweet spot of detail that I like while still being intuitive to me. Math is fun to learn, but not to practice.

I started out with a visit to  Airyu, where we ate Indian food (mostly I ate spicy rice) and stomped around SF downtown for the first time in ages (read: less than a month) <3



Left around 5ish to catch up with  Jads, who took me to a yuuummy ramen shop (after a bit of indecisive action on my part) and discussed the finer points of science and life, we broke local health laws, I saw sneak previews of Jadsart, and he had the heart to drive me in his retired police car the rest of the way to FC to spite Caltrain (since they stole money from me) :3 )



From here, things devolve into an undifferenciated ball of awesomeness, from following the quite excitable Cami around as he debuted his fursuit to great effect, to rooming with  Procyon  net-cat  izixs and  VulpeculasSecretAccount to sushi and burritos with a bunch of fuzzies from  TheFoxtailTavern (which included  Evauk hanging off of various light fixtures and  tsukiKitsuneTanuki dragging her nails across her face and Procy donating some exceptionally smooth sake to the cause) to staying up till 3AM playing dominion (much to Procy's confusion) to meeting  anniekitty after she recognized my badge by  tawnycrow, to meeting :romanpower: more times than statistically reasonable, to seeing  scrimno (sorry I missed otter party, blame mariott :<)...



...to learning that people don't explode when exposed to vacuum (nor would they freeze to death, it'd be more along the lines of oxygen loss or internal bleeding. Apparantly people have survived 30 seconds of vacuum before, with nothing more than complaints about their nose/eyes drying out), to playing "Grumpy old neighbor" with Lutris (and crippling Lutris with an otter to the knee while talking to Hoshi on IRC, just before going to her room down the hall to talk with her...on IRC)...



...to going drinking with  AstroQ (who's first order of business upon arriving at FC was getting coffee) and  ootachi and  kilometers and meeting  ke  crayon-chewer and  hulex at Tanq (and re-meeting someone and meet-meeting someone but I forgot their names ;_;), to playing bouncer for Dealers Den with Stormy (who gave me a rainbowdash pin for my efforts :3 and also called me out for having a Twilight toy styled so the hair matches ) to watching My Drunk Furry Kitchen with Astro And The Roomies, to dancing my butt off with Cami/Izixs/Vulp (and meeting some very friendly russians with very liberal use of their alcohol), to the sharing of net-cat's texts.

In the end, I guess it was a fun time.

Thanks to all the awesome people (named or unnamed) who made that that weekend, well, awesome!

Dropped my hat at a bus stop, called the transit authorities who checked about 10 minutes after I dropped it. Went back for good measure, nada. Put up a reward poster an hour later, but at this point I'm not holding my breath. I usually have the string tied to a chain, but alas the chain was broken for the first time in 4+ years.

Dad took that hat overseas to places like Saudi Arabia and Iraq. didn't need this the day I have two mini-exams, 7 hours of class and the hardest anatomy lab -__-

...and as Astro converted yet another poor soul into a bird, he quaaked out in malice: “Mwack! You're a SANDPIPER!”

“Peep peep,” Science_Sandpiper cried out. Matugoose was nearby, guiding his now fellow feathery into the dark duck ranks. In time, they would grow to enjoy their new forms, but only due to the influence of Astro Q. Duck...

That is, until Tai came along.

Tai, an ottery holdout of the Feathery Foray, decided to do something about the Duck's conversion. He was mad as hell, and wasn't going to take it anymore.

“I'm not going to take it anymore!” I said, boldly standing against the Tyranny of the Duck.

Astro chirped up with his evil evil voice. “Let's play a game, Tai!”

“YES. Let us duel under the rules of CM2008.”

“But you've only played that twice, quack!”

Silently I admitted my inexperience to myself. Before Astro had turned his mind to ducky domination, we had two friendly spars under the rules of CM2008 - both of which I had lost. The last duel was extraordinarily close - I had come within one maneuver of stalemating, but in the end, defeat was my fate. I ignored these facts and shouted at the top of my otterlungs - “ASTRO! IT'S TIME TO DUEL! LOSER CHANGES SPECIES!”

Venom dripped as the avian lashed his evil tongue in reply: “Oh, ok!”

Lightning flashed as we prepared our dark magics. Either I would be a bird, or Astro would be a mammal. And so we played our dire game, summoning avatars, casting spells, gaining support and influence. I played conservatively, saving all my power in vast pools to keep my options open and overwhelm Astro, while he played hard and fast, allowing himself to lose ground in order to strike when I was weak. But eventually, Astro left himself wide open with his maneuvers! I could see him tiring, and took the opportunity to cast my strongest spell...and succeeded.

Seventeen electoral votes suddenly turned blue. Michigan was MINE.

The duck's reply was low and terrible. “Quack! Good job, Tai!”

But his honeyed words played across deaf ears. I had a duel to win.

The technicalities of our epic fight would be lost upon most ears. But it would be safe to say that the tide was firmly in my favor for awhile, before Astro pulled ahead. I managed to eke out a small lead - but in the end, it came down to the state of Florida. It was like Gore Vs. Bush all over again, but with me heralding the Essence of Obama, and Astro being the Avatar of McCain. However, I would change history here, and make Florida a swimmingly otter-lake blue.

Astro was down, and I had every possible scenario covered to win next turn. Astro was silent as he took his final turn. I looked down and decided to use a simple method of execution - in the rare event he had a counter, I would be ready. I summoned the spirit of Oprah to aid me -

- and realized my spell fizzled. What was going on?


“Game is over”


Astro gave up! Though I had been incredibly lucky, landing a series of events that had a barely 10% chance of happening, a victory's a victory. Now, all I had to do was decide exactly how to polymorph Astro...

I looked at the boards...

wait...

Florida was red...

I lost??

Astro had quit because his victory was cemented. I had miscalculated the strength of McCain's smear campaign - which cost me the victory at the last possible second.

How...how could I lose to such an innocent looking DUCK?

“Mwack! You are BIRD!”

My head shot around - already, I could feel my fur itching, shedding, being replaced by scales and feathers. My knees suddenly shifted upward into more bird-like configurations, causing me to lose my balance and hit the ground face-first.

Astro turned to Matugoose. “Why don't YOU finish the job? You've earned the right,” Astro crooned, putting a wing around his first convert.

Matugoose nodded, honking in delight. As he stood over me, now-glowing wings raised over his head, I forced myself to watch. Even as I lay in defeat, I wouldn't look away, not as my rudder tail turned into a featherbutt, not as my cheep to bash things against my chest faded, not as I hoo ooo ooot...
